  1. In the original Beta fleets didn't exist. They were introduced for many reasons, one being that no-one really hung out in cities.
  2. It's not love that is wrong, it's loving one more than another. Loving all equally and unconditionally is meant to be the ideal. A higher state. Without specific attachment to beings or items. The Jedi code has become misunderstood by even many Jedi.
  3. And this is a perfect example of the corruption of the Republic. Abandoning the ideal of democracy is "short-sightedness, LS point farming, or idiocy" It's perfectly okay to accept bribes from the criminal underworld if it's for 'the greater good'? Who decides on the greater good? It's not the people it's meant to protect. A senator shouldn't get to pick and choose what's right without the knowledge of the public, without that you don't have democracy, you have the Empire (or the Republic that will become the Empite) with one leader picking and choosing what is best for the people, not the people debating and choosing. It's a slippery slope.
  4. That's alright, your name is Midichlorian, I assure you, that gets far more people riled.
  5. Oh and inspired from another thread.... 'Grey' alignment. Tease me with moral choices and make me realise that by actually choosing meaningful decisions for my character just leads to being Mr Gimped from gimptingdom with the stat bonus of gimpness. Creating a story that could give meaningful choices to be completely deterred by the fact that it doesn't really change any outcome and could actually hinder character stat progression. A mechanic that actually deters a player from playing the most meaningful aspect of the game. Madness.
  6. It seems here that lore is an excuse to rationalise your hatred of Ewoks. Gee, the first three films (chronologically speaking) changed the lore as they went along. Dont get me wrong I am no Ewok lover (in any sense of that phrase before anyone starts) but I can understand the appeal for some. Some people will feel it is 'star warsy', fair play to them. They can have it. I will not have an Ewok companion. Does not work for me, I will not begrudge others though. Not everyone has read the books (I have read many though) so those people may want film like characters. Nothing wrong with the game catering for them. It's optional, not mandatory. The spectrum of people that have only seen the films is FAR larger than those that have gone further into 'lore (which has been malleable) The game should not be just for the hardcore Star Wars fans. The better the game does the happier I am. I dont want to sit on a server with just a few hardcore vets
  7. The stupid wave Quick travel. Seriously, my deadly Sith Warrior will grin and wave like a numpty every time he takes a ship back to town. My hardened battle worn trooper will shake his hand like a prepubescent giggly schoolgirl every time he gets given a lift. It is silly on my part but GRRR Also the global friends thing. My hat is tipped to you CoH lovers. Apart from the lack lustre interior style of missions, it was beautifully designed, still cant find a character customisation to match it. Plus the friendliest game I have ever come across.
  8. It also shows in a sense the downfall of the Jedi. For me it's the arrogance of a Jedi master asking you to snoop. Isn't that wrong? Rather than speaking and trying to understand the young ones they resort to snooping. Instead of training and helping the young embrace the philosophy and the nature of the force, reducing it to rules and regulations. This for me is just a small part in showing how the Jedi fell. The lack of true wisdom. This is what I love about the game, the darkness of it all. Playing a trooper and seeing that all the light side options go against orders given just highlights how the Republic is becoming corrupted. How the Jedi seem to have a better ideal than others, shows the corruption. As a bigger picture It is pretty beautifully done.
  9. It does give the impression that all class stories may merge into one continued story with the only difference being 'flavour' text (ie. conversations recognising that you have done 'X' on your class story) Guess we shall see.
  10. I'm not sure which point you are trying to support here. Yes that's how things work. If you don't have the membership you can go out and buy the pads.....
  11. Alas it seems the virus is contained and doesn't spread. Shame.
  12. So, I have a character with the Rakghoul virus STILL. I'm thinking it should be spread. My thought would be to give it to new players of the game. It's not about annoying people it's about making the gamre feel dynamic. If I spread the disease to new players, they won't know what's going on. They missed the event this would be new and exciting, traumatising possibly but still, away from the normal simple game. A dose of the virus could be invigorating for players that haven't played before. Beyond the general level up through story. While the story is great, it is VERY linnear. A little dose of the unknown could shake things up. A player that may havve just taken a quick trial run is suddenly googling a random in-game virus. Good idea or bad idea? If it is a good thought then what would be the best dispersal method? Otherwise I'm just gonna give it to the warzone guys stood in front of the same terminal week in week out.....
  13. I would fully support that. I have already moved to Tomb simply because I knew the majority of the server would. I don't particularly want to be there but saw it as a necessary evil for grouping.
  14. However there is nothing essentially wrong with your blue car with auto gears. A lot of people think that it's better to have the pink car, a lot of people drive the pink car. You still have the choice to keep the blue car, in fact as time goes on that blue car will become more and more exclusive. In months to come you may be one of the very few to be driving a blue car with auto gears. You could stick to your guns and be one of the elusive few to have that blue car.You could be exclusive. Unless of course you cave in and take the pink car, well it's more fun when everyone is driving it. Do I agree with what I just said? No. I'm just sticking by the rules of the analogy. I hate analogies.
  15. It astounds me the amount of people with little grasp of the written language that apparently chose an RP-PVP server. Kind of makes me wary of a transfer to a full PVP server. (See, this is the angry bit. I'm sure that sentence alone may upset some people but at least there will be attention given) The options: Transfer other French and German RP-PVP servers to LC.; Terrible idea. Coming Soon - Automated group finder. A pick up group created by an in-game tool that could partner two people that cannot speak to the rest of the group at all is a bad idea. There are different permutations. Two Germans with a French and Englishman, none of those players players speak the others languages to any acceptable degree, so on and so forth. Very possible, very bad. Transfer people to LC; It may be too late. A lot of transfers have gone ahead. The simplest of ones granted. Someone mentioned seven servers left awaiting transfers but this still seems unlikely, even if tomb is pretty full. Transfer to NA servers; While I did try it out briefly and didn't suffer any major lag, that is not to say other connections won't. Too difficult scenario to technically gauge correctly. Multiple server choice; So far every server transfer has only had one option. This may be technically related. I'm only guessing. Still they seem to have had generally a good technical success rate with the transfer of characters (names being the issue.) Transfer to PVP server only; Those that RP would feel aggrieved. Whether RP is active or not is irrelevant. Some would feel the additional maturity of those that choose an RP server is greater than the need for open PVP. Transfer to RP server only; Those that want PVP would feel aggrieved. It seems that many feel PVP is a personal choice whether it is very available in the game or not. My suggestion; Staggered transfer. Not necessarily the best solution. Week one, offer transfer to PVP server. Week two, offer transfer to RP server. This however proclaims that there pretty much will be NO RP-PVP server in Europe. Sounds like a failure. Which they do have to look at. Also they have the logistics of making it well publicised so that people can make the right choice. Conclusion ; It's really not as simple as people make out. They need to make the right decision. The right decision generally is not a quick one. People scream for answers, the answer was they are discussing the possibilities. It is not a decision that should be taken lightly. There is no quick fix. Just read this thread, see the back-biting and hate and realise that whatever solution will cause people complaining. Criticism fine. As it should be, be constructive if you want to actually continue playing the game. If you are unsubbing, fine, have a little dignity to go with it. Explain rationally why and then do it or don't. The 'I'm unsubbing unless x happens by date y' makes things look a little childish. Get a grip. TLDR. Then don't bother commenting . If you haven't read it and only read a sentence then you are taking out of context. Rational thoughts people.
  16. Strangely enough just last night a new player was asking if the server felt more full last night. I mentioned that 'most' of the players wanted to transfer off. I then felt bad. I told this player that was new to the game that due to forum conjecture 'most' players didn't want to be there. I had felt the full force of the forum negativity. I was wrong to do that. I was giving a negative impact to a fresh player for no other reason than what I read on these boards. It's saddening. The player in question asked if he should re-roll now. I then realised what I had done. I had been actively discouraging new players from playing on this server. It's so detrimental to what is wanted and I've also been taken in by it. Swept along in the undercurrent of negativity created within these very forums. It's as if the empire side of the game's storytelling is so good that it has taken over and the mantra of the dark side has taken over, it's lending itself to the outside aspect of the game rather than the game itself. How many other people have been turned aside from this server from acts similar to mine? Besides, originally I didn't feel the population was that bad. Could it be better? Yes. Should it be better, HELL YES. Is the galactic market pee poor? oh dear yes. I've never struggled for a flashpoint though . I'm not in any guild and yet I've managed to do a flashpoint or two in my time. I've also managed to do the esseles or bt within ten minutes for every character created (which is nine, two deleted, saving the last slot for a specific unlocked legacy race). However I'm now swept along by the want of a busy server..... I've done the melancholy, now I'll deal with the angry, it's a natural progression. Plus our options. This deserves another post..
  17. People need to tone down the hysteria a bit. There's been one day of server transfers. There are plenty of servers with with poorer populations than Lord Calypho that need addressing first. Would I transfer given an option. Most likely, preferably to a more active PvP server (since RP isn't used at all, even though I'm not exactly an RP'er or avid PvPer) However, I'd like them to take their time, sort out other populations first and see how the numbers add up. They were far too quick to open up servers in the beginning so I'd like some time to be taken and the right options/decisions made. Yes, this thread is here to let the devs know that we would like the option to move too. Give it a chance though....
  18. Considering the time it takes to develop I would imagine Makeb was already in the off way before this survey.
  19. Constructive response. I wouldn't say the population is pathetic though. While it's true at the moment you can't run any flash point you want at any point in time, I'll reserve full judgement till the group tool comes in. The population has seemingly decreased, however it tends to go in phases. The Rakghoul event for example, very busy. I'm not playing much currently due to the Euros. We've recently had a big extended bank holiday and it has been overly long since an update. No matter, there are server populations worse than this one. Lord Calypho is not a priority and won't be for some time. The biggest issue is if they allow people to move from LC to a regular PVP server is that it could kill the server itself. The RP group that does exist may give up altogether. Besides it's an initial phase in which populations will be monitored. Nothing is going to happen anytime soon.
  20. Is the population really that bad? All my characters are on Lord Calypho and thought it was okay. I read earlier someone saying there was only 10 on the fleet. I have NEVER seen that at peak time. Maybe at 9 in the morning... never at peak. Granted I don't group often but when I've wanted to do a flashpoint I've never had a problem. Never had to wait to do BT or Esseles. On the subject of PVP, yes you don't see many opposition faction, that is more to do with the game than the population. I don't do it often but PVP queues are quick. I had a quick look at EU server populations expecting Calypho to be quite high and was shocked that it ranks about tenth. Maybe part of the problem is that even though it's flagged as an RP server there really isn't any RP, at all, ever. Are people that aren't on Calypho popping up with opinions without knowledge?, are people over-reacting because every one else is moaning about server populations? or am I just not expecting enough?
  21. There was. It's in the game now. It even has a little feature that creats a little LFG flag.
  22. I think some people are missing the point. It's the whole design philosophy of cast bars and cooldowns etc. It totally draws away from the actual action. You still end up watching your action bars or nameplates removing immersion. When I first started playing the game I though it was wonderful playing a jedi/sith, watching the avatar strike like a dancer, deflecting shots. It was enjoyable. Simply because I didn't have to worry about cooldowns, fifteen million actions bound halfway across my keyboard or whether the enemy attack was a certain kind of attack. I even turned off the UI completely for quite awhile just to enjoy the beauty of the game. It's the dated design philosophy, which may be too late to change.
  23. It depends, do you count the Rakghoul Virus as a content update. I'm pretty sure they do. Yes they'd still be late for this update but still not as late as you think they are Maybe they should have delayed the rakghoul virus until a full month had passed after 1.2 to keep to this non-specific schedule.
