  1. I didn't start playing SWG until late so I only played it for a little while before the CU hit...tbh I didn't think it was that bad, the NGE on the other had.... Anyway I tried to PvP in TOR but it's just laggy as F. Every time I've gone to a warzone the lag has been awful, I tell my character to force charge onto someone and nothing happens. I've tried setting all the graphics to minimum, no effect on the lag. I went to Illum, there were 20 people on the planet and 4 of us fighting in the PvP area, the lag again was awful. Given up on PvP now
  2. The main difference is: SWG's crafting system was an endgame system, requiring time and dedication to get the best resources and understand how to achieve the best results. In this game: it's a simple and only useful up until level 50. There's no endgame use for crafting here. Nothing you can make is special or unique there's no such thing as being a good crafter as all the things you can make will come out exactly the same as the next guy's. I've never heard anyone say that SWG's crafting system was bad, I've known people to say it wasn't for them. But frankly I loved it, and I loved having my own shop and getting guildies to help to go get resources on the likes of Dath. In TOR it's like Me: "Hi guildie, do you need any crystals crafted?" Guildmate: "Oh yeah, what can you do? I'm level 34" Me: "ok I've already bought all the schematics for around that level. I what type of crystal do you want I can make you an endurance or critical." Guildmate: "Oh umm I already have a +12 power crystal" Me: "Power crystal?! I can only get endurance or critical schematics, where did you get that crystal?" Guildmate: "it came looted with the gun" Me: /fume It's like comparing Technic Lego Vs Duplo bricks
  3. After I recruited/got him I tried him out straight away. He died 6 times. The muppet kept insisting on attacking droids that I'd purposely disabled instead of the ones shooting at him. He now stays on the ship trying not to malt fur everywhere.
  4. I love these moves but not being able to use them against strong or greater opponents is rubbish. I spent ages thinking savage kick was bugged. Really sad that these abilities are messed up like this. I can understand them not working on Bosses who are immune to immobilization and slowing but against elites and such? Bleh. Please can we have this fixed?
  5. SWG was the best MMO I ever played, I'd still be playing it today if they hadn't messed it up with the NGE. I loved the skill/profession system in SWG, I've never seen anything better - I've never been a fan of the Class system since. I remember in SWG my crafter character had no combat skills but I was still able to go out and buy a top-end pistol for him to defend himself with (ok he was a rubbish shot and had no specials for it). Sad fact is MMOs have changed, they're no longer the complicated RPG type games that reward the player for hardwork. It's all near instant gratification and dumbed down mechanics. Last one I played was Fallen Earth and that was the same constant quest driven rubbish (which then started to force you to PvP). SWG, for those that played it, set some benchmarks very high and no developers seem to want to go near those again - always copying/borrowing things from WoW instead. It's sad that TOR seems more like a single player game with occasional co-op. There's no reason currently to be in a guild other than to provide a chat channel to speak to people you already know. As soon as you're a few levels different from your friends there's no real reason/advantage to grouping up - in my guild some members are 20-30 levels lower than others (none of us are into PvP) so there's ZERO reason for any of these characters to interact. The story stuff is great but I think it's been over done in some ways; why deviate from the Story and go hunting/do missions with your friends? The story stuff is all level based, if you advance too quickly then you breeze through the missions and it's not much of challenge. I've been in situations where I've been 2-3 levels higher than I should be for the planet I'm on. A few of my guildmates have the complete opposite problem. So you've got the Herorics/Areas/Flashpoints but again unless you're all in the same level bracket you're stuffed. It's utterly stupid when one of your guild mates who can't play very often comes online because it's "oh sorry you can't come do this mission with us because you're too low level". Group size of 4 is also mad, we're a small guild, we all know each other from other games/MMOs and we all like to do missions etc together so when there are 5 of us online.... This game feels like a single player game, very much like Mass Effect. I also feel like a nomad or gypsy, being some kind of pikey scum that lives in my caravan/trailer/spaceship. I don't feel grounded, have any sense of belonging (no fleet does not do it) or feel I'm involved in any sort of online community.
  6. hmm yeah it does feel like Mass Effect in co-op. I like this game but there's no real reason or advantage to group up or be in a guild. You could do more on the ship in Mass Effect, it didn't feature an hyper-annoying droid and need 4 loading screens to get from planet to ship. However I'm just wearing out my keyboard here, no one who can do anything about the game will actually read this.
  7. magenta is apparently only obtainable via some crazy thing were you have to get water from Tat then go to a mountain on Hoth... then kill some ghost... or something I dunno I haven't done it only read about it. I did read that purple and white are also difficult to obtain but not in the same way. My only though as a Maurder is: that's f'ing great as someone with TWO lightsabers I like to have them matching in colour, that means whatever ridiculous loops I need to jump through to get one of these rare colours, I need to do it twice O_o. Also why do Light side get Green and Blue: Neutral/light/dark, anyone and their dog can have Yellow Dark only get Red - only one, am I missing something? Seems a little unfair, frankly not an issue for me as I'm Light side, I have a feeling purple would be dark side restricted though...that'd make me sad.
  8. I don't mind taking the damage but frankly there's no decent ability to heal. Even with the bleeds I cause feeding back health to me the amount lost vs that gained is awful. 90 secs on a medpack is too long for it to be used in most circumstances, I tend to reserve them for when health is extremely low and then they only restore ~33% of my health, which quickly evaporates. Cloak of pain and saber ward help but not enough. I've tried to use my other companions and when I do my health at the end of most fights is way below 50%. I just end up using Quinn all the time because I don't feel I have another option if things get hairy. I'm not expecting to walk away from a fight with >75% health but either better healing (more health back from bleeds?) or better mitigation is needed - cloak of pain could is nice, could be better and/or the cooldown could do with being shorter (30 seconds after it's warn off feels far too long especially in big fights).
  9. why not make them useful? For example: If you mod your equipment at a station why not reduce the cost of removing items by 75%? Also how about reverse engineering things at a work station gives you a better luck roll on getting a schematic and getting more resources back?
  10. Very true but why can't we have some sandbox elements for those that want it? Best of both worlds People run out of content and when they do they either go away and find something else or start doing their own thing. Sadly it seems these days people have very short attention spans and get bored very quickly.
  11. Yeah I played EVE a fair bit, it was ok but the combat was far from thrilling for me. I always figured this would be a KOTOR MMO but I expected far more in the way of communities and guilds coming together. Err yeah played Minecraft too, that was great fun too. So many hours wasted building silly things but it was huge fun, working on projects with friends, trying to make cannons etc. Why can't I have a sandbox Star Wars MMO?? (and no they turned off SWG, and yes, I did).
  12. In response to the OP & adding to: It's quite tragic how dumbed down MMO's have gotten. The MMOs of recent that I've tried, this one included, just seem to treat you with kid-gloves. I played BattleField 3 (not an MMO I know but bare with me) before SWTOR, the single player game was utterly awful because it was so linear, it wasn't a case of "complete this mission" it was "run behind this car, shoot 3 guys, move to wall, shoot 6 guys" just totally lost interest in it. This game is starting to feel like that a bit - don't get me wrong the quests and stuff are nicely done but they feel like they are really the only way to advance. I really am enjoying SWTOR but it's far more single player than MMO. I dunno what will happen when the content runs out. I do love the content and Bioware have done a fantastic job so far but it is just KOTOR with real people playing in your game. Sure you can create a guild, give people ranks etc but there's no tools for people to build on that. No guild objectives for everyone to work to. There seems virtually no benefit to being in a guild other than having access to a bunch of to ask for help on quests. You can't share old items because everything binds on pickup/equip so helping out lower levelled members involves either giving them money or crafting them what they require. You can't even support guild members that do different crafting to you because you can't collect resources for them. There's not even a guild vault and bank, when are we going to get these? I believe Bioware will get there in the end, I just hope we don't have to wait too long. In short: Give me a sandbox, let me go build. Give us community building tools, let us make our own fun. Sadly my post will never get read by a Bioware employee and this thread will probably be on page 400 by tomorrow morning.
  13. I agree with what some people have said about launching the ship. It'd give much immersion if you had to tell your ship to launch/land. My ship feels very much like an elevator in that I just tell it what floor (read planet) I want to get off on. You select your planet to jump to, click go and you can run to the door and exit to the planet before your ship has even arrived. Also please can I deactivate that droid of mine! Or at least deactivate his voice box!
  14. I agree with the OP, if we can fast travel every 30 mins then please can one destination be straight into onto our ships. If it could spawn my character in the cockpit that'd be even better, that way I can avoid walking past that #'$%ing droid and him bleeting the same old drivel at me (it was funny the first few times but now...).
  15. I just want a chat channel called combat log that shows something along the lines of... You hit Bloke with Super-Smashy hit for 412 points Bloke hits You with Sharp Feather Duster for 12 points Bob Criticality hits Bloke with Rifle Shot for 706 points You hit Bloke with Stabby-Stabby hit for 652 points Bloke is dead
