    The nerfs

Brain fart moment, I meant bioware . Oops.

    The nerfs

I just had a eureka moment today. I was sitting in game trying to PvP as a bounty hunter healer and suddenly had the thought fly in my face, "Okay, I am not enjoying this. Why am I still playing It?" In the end, I decided it was for two reasons. First, some of my friends still play and I enjoy playing with them. Secondly, Out of a misguided desire to recapture the fun and enjoyment I experienced pre 1.2 patch. The dev's have stated time and again that the homogenization (and castration) of healers seems to be their prime goal, with no plans to change in the future. So I just cancelled my account. I gave it a good run - I didn't rage like others immediately after 1.2 hit, even though I was a little pissed. I tried providing feedback to bioware, but they decided on going their own way, as is their prerogative. I have no bad feelings towards SWTOR, just bitter sweet memories of pre 1.2. I guess we just grew apart. Anyways, see you guys later. Hopefully some sort of change will crop up in the future that will help me to resubscribe.

  4. Yup, bioware pretty much killed off healing.
  5. QFT. Most practical advice there is.
  6. Do yourself a favour and forget that merc's could ever heal in the first place. In this case, Op's the way to go.
  7. Is it about as damaging as the complete and utter destruction of an entire class subtype? How about the negative accessibility for said subtype, especially those who (used) to enjoy PvP? Would it not be better to offer those who are seriously disgruntled with the changes the option to respec into something, you know, viable. Your entire stance on the issue of post-gutting respecs is rather disturbing.
  8. Holy crap, I hope you're either trolling or enjoy using lubeless BioWare branded suppositories. Bodyguards and field medics were nerfed so hard that the Jedi just herd many voices cry out in pain. BioWare took a deathstar to our abilities and talents.
  9. Wow, everything you said is absolutely perfect. Couldn't of said it better myself. in other words, QFT
  10. Problem is that Combat Medics / Bodyguards don't work anymore.
  11. Just posting this for general information. If you have more trouble than usual finding a Healer post 1.2 it's because many of us have either unsubscribed, or rerolled their character (which I did). Why? Because healing is no longer fun, it is now frustrating. The only healers who might actually enjoy this patch are Operatives. Some relevant Links: Stop complaining about 1.2 changes... post 1.2 - you still planning on healing? Leave the healers alone, they need encouragement. 1.2 - Combat Medic - Major Nerfs There are many, many more posts on this issue, but these are some of the more active ones. Sadly, many the ones on the PTS have been lost. This has been a general service announcement. Hah, posted in general and moved in under 30 seconds!
  12. Go op, not worth playing BH Bodyguard spec any more.
  13. Hahaha, nice joke. My friend had his 50 copied over, and let me try it out on the test server, and I can honestly say every single bodyguard who actually cares about healing is going to rage. Let's look at the major changes. + Cure costs less heat, down to 8 from 16 + Kolto Missile now affects 4 targets + Cure Mind now applies a (very small) HoT - Rapid Scan now costs 8 more heat due to the Critical Efficiency nerf. - Cure mind no longer reduces the cost of cure - Hired Muscle halved. down to 3% from 6%. - Kolto Missile's Residue now only increases healing by 3% instead of 5% - Supercharged Gas now only vents half the heat, gives half the damage/healing bonus, and the shield on the missile reduces half the damage. The items that are of concern are highlighted in red, the biggest problem being the SGC nerf. Did You Know: That once 1.2 hits, a Bodyguard who never uses Supercharged Gas will do more healing over time then one who does? It's true! While it gives you 2% more bonus healing then a stack of 30, the loss of healing during the time you rebuild your stack results in a net loss of healing. So, basically our SCG is only good now for spamming heals. Honestly? Most of the nerfs I can deal with, but what they did to our SCG effectively removes our class' defining ability.
  14. As a bodyguard? Hell no. It just isn't fun any more. As Sorc/OP? We'll see. I enjoyed the play style of the bodyguard tree, and might get frustrated with other two, but I'm willing to give them a chance. But if I do get frustrated with the other two I will cancel my subscription as I will no longer be having fun doing what I want to do. Might bring out my bodyguard healer and dance naked in the middle of the huttball map a couple times, though. Would be hellofafunny if I could get a bunch of others to do it at the same time .
  15. Yup, as a Bounty Hunter / (ex)Bodyguard I am glad that someone actually enjoys the healing changes. The rest of us got absolutely shafted. With no lube.
  16. I don't know. This IS the company that did the Mass Effect Three endings. You know - the one that your choices were supposed to matter, where everything was supposed to be explained, etcetera. To me this shows a proven disregard for the players perspective. IMO, the changes are probably similar to ME3's R G B endings in that no matter what you choose, the difference is merely cosmetic.
  17. In arsenal spec they just changed our skill order and priorities a bit - not bad at all, and if anything I think we'll see a minor dps increase as people become used to it. Bodyguard spec? They nerfed it into a hole six feet deep and filled it with the defecation of every bioware employee. Post 1.2 Merc Healers will be a rare, sadistic breed. Let's put it this way. In the current 1.2 on the PTS a Bodyguard actually now looses some healing bonus when he pops Supercharged Gas. That's right SGC now causes you to heal less. You're better off just staying at 30 charges. The only reason now to pop SGC is if you want to spam your heals - but wait, they increased the cost - you can't spam them! And the kolto DR buff? 10% was small, but usefull. 5% is tiny and unnoticeable. Honestly, I could of coped with most of every other nerf, even the freaking kolto shell nerf. But nerfing SCG so hard that you're better off not using it? I'll miss healing on my bodyguard.
  18. Pre 1.2 I'd say go with it. Post 1.2? Hell no. Bodyguards? They've tied us up, gelded us with a rusty spoon, fried up the remnants in trans saturated fat and MSG, and are now trying to make us eat the results while telling us that, "It's good for you." Yeah. It's that bad.
  19. Just waiting for the next 'new' patch not on the PTS... * We've discovered out that healing is still to potent in end game instances, so we're expanding our healing kit changes to all healing abilities. You can only heal once per fight now. ( This change only affects bounty hunters and troopers. ) In all honesty, though, I've played on the PTS and have come to the conclusion that there is absolutely NO reason for a BH to heal on a raid when there's a Sorc available. They do everything we do, but better and for longer. They may of hit the sorc's with the nerfbat, true... But Bodyguards? They've tied us up, gelded us with a rusty spoon, fried up the remnants in saturated fat and MSG, and are now trying to make us eat the results while telling us that, "It's good for you." Yes, it's THAT bad. Which is why I'm leveling up a glowstick user right now. Too bad, I actually enjoyed BH healing.
  20. Just bumping the OP. I personally refuse to play the bag lottery.
  21. First off, I really enjoyed warzone PvP once they put in the 1-49,50 brackets. I really enjoyed warzones and the odd time I'd encounter the other side while questing. The problem now is that I finally hit 50. Bought my six bags and got a relic. I also got my first taste of Illum. Aka, Planet sit-on-your-arse-and-do-nothing-for-hours-on-end. It just isn't fun - even remotely. So I won't be doing that. Then there's the post-49 warzones where everyone's geared up so high that you're lucky if you stay alive for 30 seconds, let alone kill anyone. Medals? forget about that. It just isn't any fun anymore, so I won't play these. PvP Bags? Bioware Doesn't even try to hide the grind and luck involved in gaining your pvp gear. I've seen people in my guild get almost a full set of armour in their first bags, and people who haven't seen anything besides commendations in 20+ bags. How is this fun? I won't be doing this. Currently, I'm wandering around republic controlled territory on the end-game planets such as Corellia and Voss hoping to stumble upon someone who will put up a decent fight. Valor gain? crappy, but at least it has a semblance of entertainment. So, even though I enjoy PvP a lot, Bioware seems to of forced me into the path of a PvE player, because at least then the grind is hidden behind flashpoints and raids. I just wish I could of locked my character in at 49. I had WAY more fun then.
  22. If I'm going to steal a ship, It wouldn't be some ancient imperial garbage scow. Just sayin'
  23. Huttball requires both teamwork and team composition. Please note I can only discuss this from an Imperial perspective as I don't associate with any traitorous scum. Huttball Requires: Composition: At the very least you want at least two ball carriers. Force users fit the bill perfectly for this - they can force speed through active fire/jump up ledges. The next you want is a minimum of two ball 'assists'. Sorcerers and Tank spec BH's with their yoinks are best for this. Next you want a minimum of two healers, at least one being the mobile operative spec. You also want at least one person with guard up - perferably more, though. BH tanks are perfect for this since they also get a yoink with their shield. Notice a lack of DPS? Yeah, they rarely bring anything to huttball. (I play dps, sadly) Communication: Ventrilo / Teamspeak / Mumble / etc. If you can talk to your team members without the delay of typing, you have a much better chance of winning the match. Teamwork: the Assists and secondary ball carrier should be where you want the ball to be. tanks need to guard the carriers and whomever else needs it. healers need to stay mobile and keep everyone up while not getting ganked. <bittersarcasm> Oh and if you're two down to zero five minutes in? May as well leave and re-queue. let some poor soloqueuers take your loosing spot - after all, there's no penalty for leaving </bittersarcasm> So basically, Unless you're a required class and are queuing with a group it's no fun at all. Because honestly, do you think a PuG can do it in most cases?
