  1. Lightning DPS is fine. They just need either armor penetration or all their lightning abilities changed from energy to elemental damage. Crushing Darkness should be a 1.5 second cast by default.
  2. Outside of a few mechanics, PvE is, fundamentally, entirely stat dependent. PvP on the other hand is more reactive in nature. You can balance the stats for PvE and then balance PvP around those stats using other factors like defense, mobility, and CC. What Bioware is essentially doing with 5.3 is re-balancing the game from the ground up, the ground being class output. The entire game can then be re-balanced around class output. I suspect 5.3 is the start of preparation for a major game overhaul with 6.0, but they cant overhaul the entire game until class output is controlled for.
  3. Making CC more viable wouldn't require a healer output change. Healers keep up in PvE while being balanced in PvP via other means.
  4. That point was just referring to people who never criticise anything because they're in love with the devs. Pointing out things that are wrong with the game is ultimately better for the game in the long run. Not pointing them out or ignoring them because you think the developers can do no wrong is not good for the game. From a developer point of view it would be less painful in the short term if noone pointed out where your game has problems, but then you risk falling into a trap of believing your game is perfect and doesn't need adjusting.
  5. My position on healers in PvP is that CC should be the balancing factor to healers, it just isn't because effective CC (mezzes, not stuns) just doesn't exist in this game. CC to negate enemy healers, and CC to peel for your own healers. Coordinated CC is also a team responsibility and more engaging than everyone-for-themselves DCD propagation. I haven't checked how much damage Guard transfers lately, but if it's 50% that's too much and doesn't factor in the DPS the tank is doing. Guard mitigation should be balanced around the lower DPS tanks put out. If the total output of Guard mitigation + tank DPS is greater than what one would expect from a single player of another DPS or healer, then Guard is overpowered.
  6. I usually reach level 70 before finishing my class story.
  7. This is a good point, and it comes back to my first point in my post. It does sting when you're told your wrong about something, especially when it's coming from an authoritative figure who ultimately decides your QoL in game. That sting, and the feeling that the people in charge aren't listening to you, will lead to anger. And as soon as that anger takes hold, that's when the toxicity spreads. You get angry, then you make others angry with your angry posts, and it just escalates. Anger, as it applies to critical feedback, distorts issues to look worse than they actually are, and distorted feedback doesn't help anyone. Keep your anger in check and you can more clearly describe the problem you have with whatever issue you're talking about. Now, there is a disconnect between what the players expect from Bioware in terms of communication, and what Bioware can actually tell the players. Players want to hear what they want to hear, but Bioware can only tell them the truth. Going back to your point, players will have their own ideas about how the game should play out, and Bioware will have their internal mechanisms. The chances of both party's expectations matching up is very unlikely, so players will inevitably get upset over Bioware's actions. And we come full-circle to my original point. Are you making your post because you are angry? Further questions to ask yourself would be: 1. If I'm angry, what exactly am I angry about? 2. Bioware is changing something. If they aren't deliberately trying to make me angry, what might Bioware be trying to achieve with this change? A person making a post out of anger will miss all of these questions and distort whatever issue they're trying to bring up. It's a good post, the sort of post this thread needs. And yeah I think I'm going off on a rant too.
  8. Remove all generic 4 second stuns. They're completely unnecessary and absolutely annoying to deal with.
  9. If someone chooses to ignore the evidence you put forward, that's their problem, not yours. You've done your job in giving proper useful feedback. It's not so much a matter of convincing other players of your point of view, but giving useful feedback to Bioware. Players might argue against your feedback, and that's a good thing. Because if your argument cant stand up to scrutiny, it's not a very good argument. Bioware has to see both sides of an argument to get a clear picture.
  10. Before you make a critical post on the forums, ask yourself a few questions. 1. Am I angry? Am I making this post because I'm angry? 2. Am I making a valid point? Can I support my point with background information and evidence?
  11. DPS classes don't need DCD's. They just need to kill the target before the target kills them.
  12. Make Volatile Substance (Concealment Operative) not break stealth. Then you can do VS then Backstab for a big 1-2 punch before the target can react. Boom! Make Crushing Darkness (Sorcerer) a 1.5sec cast by default. Cast Crushing Darkness then Affliction to get both dots on the target for a 1-2 dot combo before they react to you, instead of needing to cast Lightning Flash first. Get both dots on, then go for got the Thundering Blast/Chain Lightning combo. Boom!
  13. Sorcs cant kite. Try and you'll just die doing 0 damage. The only range specs doing well in PvP are the ones that don't have to kite.
  14. The DPS targets are averages. They already take gear into consideration.
  15. A lot of Lightning's damage is mitigated by armor, but Lightning doesn't get any armor penetration.
  16. You know it's easier to nerf a single class than it is to balance the entire game around that one class.
  17. You could just use your gap closer. I know it's hard for you to keep up with fleeing range classes, but it's ok, they wont be doing any meaningful damage to you while they're running for their lives.
  18. That's a lot of words to say "I want to be overpowered because it's fun".
  19. Well looks like this thread finally reveals who the real trolls are.
  20. Actually, there is a very large jump in stats between vanilla and RotHC gear, almost double. And I admit I did forget if it was level 50 or level 52 gear that level sync drops you down to. It's level 50 gear, or the max level for the planet. You were using gear that the planet was never designed for, and when you hit level 53, your stats were dropped to equal a level 50 player with level 50 vanilla gear.
  21. Apparently I'm a troll because I want the original Tracer Missile animation back.
  22. I like it. I send my crew out for missions a lot and this just saves me the not-so-bothersome task of giving them gifts. As I use my crew for crafting far more than I use them for combat, I don't need them to be massively over-influenced ASAP, and this way they can gain influence in a more natural progression instead of me forcing their influence up. But then again, companions don't need to be overly-influenced for combat, but should be overly-influenced for crew skills. Oh the dilemma!
