  1. So far, I rate Dread Master Raptus...some of the best taunts in the game (An honorary mention to Bounty kingpin boss, Eryn Talosa, for similar reasons LOL !!) Other favourite, or rather memorable boss, is LR-5 of Lost Island. This was back in the day when it used to mean a certain wipe fest. I'd just joined a guild, and being my first mmo, I wasn't too familiar with the conventional roles of healer, tank and dps. At the time I was one of those willing to go along with the game for the story and solo content. So using my consular shadow, I always ran around combat spec'd purely for survivability, but never actually 'tanked' anything. So now, I'm being asked to tank this boss !! Took 3 hours of wiping before killing it. Felt like a massive achievement !! An epic fight too, with so much going on; molten lava eruptions, plasma bubbles all over, and the adds. Least favourite...hmm. I've yet to play some of the ops, but I'd have to lean towards the Enhanced Vrbrither of CZ Core Meltdown. Easy tank and spank, but very annoying stun jumps.
  2. The approach to this was based on Bioware's current development model of episodic content, rather than story driven...similar to Makeb. This way, there doesn't need to be any strong ties between your characters and their stories. For example... Jedi consular approach might have something to do with a disturbance in the force coinciding with the change in Jawa behaviour. You are having constant dreams of a face in a desert, looking up to the starts and calling. It could be that only you are able to sense the disturbance, and so you investigate without backing from the council. Jedi knight approach...investigating suspicious sith activity. Reports from intelligence services suggest sith have been quietly building in numbers and venturing off into the desert for reasons unknown. This could tie in with the Sith Warrior class somehow. Smuggler approach...a smuggler friend has suddenly cut contact after claiming to be onto some massive riches. She claims to have found clues proving Karne the Liar's story may have some truth to it. Trooper approach...reports have come in of a rogue trooper indiscriminately attacking targets and people. This coincides with reports of a remote trooper outpost suddenly going dark. This outpost stationed many of the elites, who test their endurance by surviving off the desert. As a hero of the Republic, you've been assigned to investigate. I've not played any of the imperial classes yet, so would not know where to begin. Could be similar, or cross paths with their republic equivalents in some way. Either way, I'm assuming this might be one way of introducing respective classes to such a chapter or event. Personally, I'd rather see and experience a true story based chapter, where each character's development ties into the fabric of the game, but Bioware, at least for now, have stated they prefer the 'Makeb approach'. I made the loose reference to KoTOR, because I've always ALWAYS wanted to see some kind of tangible link with the events of that game. Taris wasn't bad, but it felt like a rush to conclude that chapter. Primarily, I'd like to see a more direct tie in with the time line events. This is where 'KoTOR 3' would have been logical. Since we're now talking about an MMO, a more open and flexible approach will have to suffice. Using Jawas is one way, due to the reasons I mentioned in my first post; we've seen them in films and games. As far as we can tell, they're scavengers and traders. The sandcrawler is built to process their scavenge, but it could also have other uses. Who knows of the things they've seen, the battle fields they've picked clean, famous characters they'd traded with. All could have left a foot print in that sandcrawler. So I propose we use it as a way to tie in historical events as well as create more mysteries for future content. With my approach, I left it open enough for Bioware/Lucasarts/Disney story tellers to elaborate. It might be they're already working on something similar. If not, then it's best I don't attempt to lay out the entire plot in a public forum To add, I'm no professional story teller so anyone is free to criticise/change/dismiss what I've laid out. I'm just someone who loves a good story, loves history and the way it shapes characters
  3. First of all, apologies if a similar suggestion has been made. If so, feel free to lock or delete A chapter, or event, based on Jawas, their activities, and culture. We've seen them in the films, and they generally pop up in most Star Wars based games; why not use the SWTOR medium to delve a little more into these creatures. In addition to this, small anecdotes could be delivered through their primary activity of scavenging !! By this, I mean quests, events, flashpoints, OPs where you are rewarded with scavenged goods. Some of those goods could be remnants of ancient battles...rare lightsabers, armouring, or other objects belonging to infamous characters of this lore. If you want, make references to other games (hint hint KoTOR) Have a quest take place INSIDE a sandcrawler, eg: Super Start Wars (SNES) Given that these machines are designed for the Jawas and their relatively small profiles, how about the following set up.... A Jawa legend of an ancient sandcrawler so big, it holds the most valuable scavenge. Its size was a result of extensions built to accommodate an increasing trawl. According to Jawa lore, all 'current' sandcrawlers are built to replicate and pay homage to the 'oringial' machine. What became of it, nobody knows. Other than a few scattered sightings and stories from ancient contemporaries, it was said that a great sand storm rose and took it to a place beyond. The most infamous story told was by one 'Karne the Liar', a scoundrel who lived 480 years ago. Of the many impossible tales he told, from inventing the force to becoming chieftain of a lost tribe of sand people, he spoke of how he once prospected in an area close to an infamous hutt's palace. After, allegedly, disposing of all 1500 gammorean palace elite guards by himself, he escaped into a little known region of the desert known as, The Frigid Dunes. It was said that this area often experienced cold and icy conditions. It also contains mountainous dunes, which have existed in place for thousands of years. No one knew how this was possible, other than protruding geological rock formations. Upon entering this region, his speeder lost power just as the winds started to pick up. In his haste to find cover he ventured forwards. All his navigational equipment had ceased for some reason, and the winds were now gale force. Sands had now darkened the skies and had obscured his view. In the distance he noticed a faint pale blue glow, to which he ventured without thought. As he got closer, he noticed an outline of a structure, but the winds were so fierce and the sands strangely biting, he could not define it. It seemed to take forever, but he reached the source of the light....or so he thought. It turned out to be emanating from some sort of orifice, into which he stumbled. Gathering himself, Karne found himself in a box shaped room, with seemed to have a slight blue tint glow. The floors felt smooth and even. He assumed he was in some sort of wreckage. He also found he was shivering uncontrollably. Looking around, he found some metallic ores of beryllium. Using his blaster, he fired at it enough to cause it to glow hot. Beryllium ore being very valuable, Karne went on to assume that this must have been a cargo ship which crashed, spilling its precious contents. Of course he saw a financial benefit, and decided to explore once he'd warmed up. Upon inspecting the room, he realised it was a configuration he'd never seen before. A door in the far corner had no obvious mechanism for opening. Of course, this wreck could have been here for a very long time, thus any sensory mechanisms may not have the power to function. The thought of more riches beyond this door spurred Karne to try to open it. With that he decided to grip the rivets on the door and pull open. Fortunately, it seemed to easily slide and revealed a long passage strewn with more bits of ore. As he walked through the dimly lit passage inspecting these finds, he came across something unexpected. A lightweight, polished and elaborately designed metallic cylinder; he recognised this as a Jedi's lightsaber !! Knowing how much they fetch in black market circles, Karne instantly picked it up. It felt very warm to the touch, and he could feel slight vibrations emanating from it. His heard started to fill with strange imagery and sensations. This overwhelmed him so much he dropped the lightsaber, causing it to hit the floor and echo loudly. The reverberations seemed to stir something deep in the wreck because he could now hear noises coming from everywhere. Fearing there was someone or something else in the vicinity, Karne attempted to find another place to hide. He ran on deeper into the passage with the noises getting louder, and found a door similar to the other one, slightly open. So he pulled it open, quickly entered the room, and with great effort push the door shut. He waited as the sounds continued to echo around him; a mixture of grinding metal and stomping feet. To prepare for confrontation, he attempted to secure his position by barricading and establishing a defensive stand. Karne realised he'd dropped his blaster, so attempted to find something to use as a weapon. Whilst searching, the lights suddenly flickered on. Panicked, Karne quickly scrambled for somewhere to hide. As he turned, he stopped dead and stared ahead. Before him, was a display of weapons of all kinds. Lightsabers, blasters, rifles, grenades, disruptors, and some he'd never seen before. They all looked as if they had been fabricated minutes ago. They all seemed to glow of their own accord, and all had active power modules, the likes of which Karne had never seen. He noticed to the corner of his eye that the display extended the entire length of the wall for 100m. As he reached out to touch one, he felt something touch his shoulder and passed out. He was later found and treated at a med bay in Mos Verion. Apparently, a moisture farmer found him after a sandstorm suddenly formed. Karne did not seem to respond to the farmer's attempts to revive him, so brought him to Mos Verion. During his recovery, Karne spoke of what happened to him, and the rooms of treasures he found. He was told that he had nothing on him when he was found, and no such wreck exists. Karne, however, insisted it was true and would show everyone. Alas he attempted to locate the wreck with little success. Over time, his tales grew more fantastical, until one day he set off once again to search for his treasure, never to be seen again Quest could start by receiving a message from Tatooine. An official reports of strange events and disturbances coming from a part of the planet, which has been largely unexplored. At the same time, this official has been receiving additional reports of Jawas suddenly changing in behaviour. Some have become aggressive, others babbling nonsensically. Strangest of all, some congregate at specific times of the day, form large circles, and start to emit a strange whistling like noise. Not so loud that it disturbs; not so quiet that it is audible. Whatever the reason, an investigation is warranted... (PS...apologies for the wall of text )
  4. Umm, a superficial legendary grade item. Tythonian Crystal of Embellishment Bind on Pickup -Increases all stats by +3 -Causes character to glow with the force Requires: Lvl50, Light IV
  5. I had similar issues obtaining Corusca gems - Treasure Hunting. I found that sending the same companion twice in a row yielded 2-3 gems the first time, but none the second time. Sending different companions, on the same mission, one after the other, resulted with an average of 2 gems per companion. I recently found this to be true with Mandalorian Iron. In my case, sending out a companion with Underworld Trading crits usually meant they brought in a bigger haul of gems than those without. To note, all companions I use have maxed affection. I find this doesn't apply as well to Slicing lockbox missions, when trying to pick up purple missions. So far it's very random that I get a purple gathering skill mission and a blue lockbox
  6. I'll keep it simple....Jedi Knight 4 !!!!
  7. Not that it was scary, but remember the scene in, The Empire Strikes Back; the Millennium Falcon trying to escape the Imperial ships, hides out in that 'asteroid', but instead turned out to be a massive space worm. I'd love to see that implemented in a Star Wars game somehow. Perhaps similar to that worm in Gears of War 2, where they killed it from the inside. One tense gaming experience I remember; Jedi Academy...Rancor chase. That was one of the features I LOVED. I could see an update where you spend the whole time basically running from a seemingly indestructible rancor, your mission is simply to slow it down using the environment, or anything. Btw, Bioware devs...if you happen to be reading this, and take this idea on board (small chance, but could happen) could you credit me by creating a 'legacy' item for players to pick up, or a lore object...eg: T'ssya-Rho's Anti-Rancor Spray You get the idea, something unique, and not available in crafting items.
  8. I ended up with 150 rubat crystals from earlier missions. I think I picked most of them up on Coruscant, and low level archaeology missions. With synthweaving, I've made boots, gloves, and sashes, with the occasional exceptional craft, which allows for an augment mod. Sold a few on the galactic market. I'm now picking up grade 5 power, and colour crystals; not found a use for them yet, but they're sitting heavy in my storage bays
  9. The Vensca Legacy !! Pronounced 'Venn - Sa'
  10. TOR is actually my very first MMO experience. Been a PC gamer since the late 90s, and avoided the other earlier MMO titles due to studies and work. I still do those things, but come on...STAR WARS :D !! I'm still learning the mechanics of MMOs, as well as the abbreviations and comms with other players. It was, initially, a worry for me, and some others, that the KoTOR experience would be lost via transition to MMO style. As a poster said earlier, it can be played solo, and that was how I approached this game. I was curious about the chatter, but as stated earlier, I had no MMO experience, and had no idea what LFG, LF1M...etc meant, let alone dps, aoe, cc. The concept of Heroic missions also stumped me, but I quickly learned that these kinds of missions were generally more difficult, and required 2-4 players. From this, I went on to figure out what LFG...etc meant. It was out of curiosity, I decided to respond to one LFG request, and grouped up. I found the dynamics interesting, and quite fun. Playing as a consular sage, I'm spec'ed mainly for healing, but also a little damage dealing. On hard missions, I keep my distance and heal; easier missions, I do both healing and dps. It's a little annoying when grouping with jedi knight players, because you get the over zealous types, who leap into fights, and I'm having to catch up because they're out of my range. I have since routinely grouped up on a few heroics, and had a few memorable games...not because of the mission, but mainly because of those I played with. I do find it, personally, rewarding and satisfying when a group communicates and plans during missions; designating targets, cc'ing others, tactical positioning so I am able to stay in range to heal. Even more rewarding when you heal someone from the brink...if a player sustains a critical series of hits, knocking and instant 60% off their health. Yes; it's happened a few times. One of my worries, were being grouped with players, who take things too seriously, and snap on every detail. Thankfully, this has not happened...yet Due to my busy schedule of studies and work, I only get to play late at night, when most have left. Another thing is, if I land on a planet for the first time, I like to explore and solo for a bit, before grouping. Group Decisions... Group Showdown...
  11. In forums, I went by, SeLeXeL... In game I went by, Xirra'Karre.
  12. +1 !! I agree !! I too joined the JKA: OJP community a while back, on a quest to find mods depicting realistic saber combat. This was a mod, where you HAD to learn and practice. You couldn't rush in waving a lightsaber; you could try but any skilled saberist could quickly drain your force, and raise your mishap, which almost certainly meant defeat. I was never really a good saberist , but was nice being among those who put in the effort to make this mod truly unique. My only contribution was to make a few ; would like to have done more, but reality has a habit of catching up, and re-prioritising. I hope to still be able to do something in future concerning this mod, or inspired by it. For me, before KoTOR...there was, Jedi Outcast !! Up until then, the only Star Wars games I played were the flight sims; X-Wing vs TIE, Rogue Squadron...etc. I was given this game by a cousin (RIP), because he couldn't get it to work on his PC. I wasn't that interested initially, so I put it to one side. Few months later, I was bored, and noticed the game lying there. Thought I'd give it a try, so installed and ran it. I didn't even realise it was a fps, so that piqued my interest. What really drew me in was that it was story driven. Add the original music scores, and sounds, you almost felt like it could have been a movie. Best memory; my first playthrough. I had absolutely NO idea what to expect from this game. I remember first arriving at the Jedi Academy to see Luke. You had to find your way to him, which involved going up lifts and running through glass passages, which over-looked Jedi trainers teaching students the various disciplines of the force. I actually watched for a minute or two, thinking 'Sweeeet !!' I walk through one passage, which over-looked a trainer standing before his students. Nothing seemed to happen for a minute. The trainer then beckons to a student, who stands up before him, then suddenly breaks out into saber combat, with the acrobatics and all. So fluidic, and the most realistic I'd seen. At that point, I thought 'DAYAAMN !! This has to be the BEST !!' So impressed was I, I watched for a few good minutes before carrying on to meet with Luke Skywalker. Given that Lucasarts made a statement, acknowledging their poor run of games, and promises to improve...would be nice to see them revisit the Jedi Knight series Take time, tell a story, and patience will see good games !!
  13. "...this is where the fun begins" Anakin Skywalker...various times " OOOOOTEEENIEEE !! " Jawas on Tatooine "...hit the buzz-droid's center eye" Obi-Wan to R2D2...Ep3 "...engaging thrusters" I'm sure someone said it
  14. 84-85, on TV at home, which would have been East London, UK at the time. I can still remember the Darth Vader kids t-shirts all over the place.
  15. I feel the original three had memorable characters, and was well acted. It was also more balanced in terms of sfx and actors...meaning one didn't steal from the other. That same balance in the prequels, had shifted more towards sfx, imo. I found myself looking more are the set pieces, and saber fights, than tuning in with the characters. I'm not saying the acting was bad. We have to consider that some of the actors had to take on roles created by characters from the original three. My main gripe was with the 'Anakin Skywalker' character. In Episode I, as a boy, the character had a lot of soul, and played well by the actor. Episode II, Anakin's a young man, and seems to be even more childish than kid-Anakin. Things seemed to move a little too fast, where he was concerned. Acting was a bit stiff, but I was able to deal with it. Episode III, Anakin's now a 'mature' man. It was very obvious, to me at least, that he was still kid-Anakin, but with a longer hair, and darker tones. Someone mentioned the term 'emo', which I think best describes this iteration of Anakin. As such, it adds to the immature view some, like myself, have of this character at this stage. The acting was a little better; you could tell the actor was a little more comfortable in his role. The one thing that put me off a little, was the final confrontation with Obi-Wan. He seemed to turn into a spoilt brat !! Anakin moans "...youu turned her against meeeee !!!!" Anakin barks "you will not take her from ME !!!!" You also notice that he kind of huffs and pouts, like a kid too. Worst of all he actually SOUNDED like one LOOOOOOL !! Only time he breaks this, subsequently, is the saber fight with Obi-Wan. The bit where he pins him down, and tries to fry him with his own lightsaber. Anakin's expression was proper homicidal; there you saw, Darth the maniac. Not quite the brooding, dark, evil presence we all came to know, but getting there. By the end, when Darth Vader steps forwards, I didn't see the same Vader as the original. All I could think of was kid-Anakin dressing up in an odd, but scary outfit. In fact, I'm reminded of that Darth Vader kid in the Volkswagon car commercial
  16. I am reminded of Luke's first trip to the Dagobah system, to find Yoda... Much anger did he take with him.... 29th...still meditating. I see Tython, and the Master's Retreat, closing in...
  17. Naaaaah !! Had you said 'May I force something IN you...' thennn maaaaybe Signed up Nov 29th...still meditating
