  1. I got the bug squashing one three days in a row, didn't do this once, and finished in about a half hour on all three days, once I found my little farming spot. It actually took me longer to do it on Balmorra the first week, due to the sheer number of people in the Heroic zone where the colicoids live. Edit: We don't all have the same objectives every day. The simple solution to more than one person in a particular area is to group up and kill 'em.
  2. In so far as I know, the functionality of making it a landing zone is only in the SH, but the actual items are on every map, from back when we had to activate them to unlock fast travel. They're near to taxis everywhere, I'm just unsure of the functionality. On the other hand, maybe it's trying to drop you for the operations, since that's where it does drop you.
  3. It's been dropping me in the default place when I go. Did you use the location marker thing that used to open up Fast Travel? Maybe it changed your default landing zone, like it does in the Alderaan SH?
  4. Apparently I got a good route this morning, did my dailies on Ossus w/out incident. I am on Cox internet.
  5. Let's break this down a bit too much. The internet is a collection of highways. To get from Point A to Point B, the signal is going to travel through several hubs. To get to point C, it may use different hubs to reach it's destination. Just because there's a 300 car pile up on the route between A and B doesn't mean you're going to hit that wreck going to C. This is demonstrated clearly in this thread by people changing where A is, with a VPN, and successfully getting to B with no issues. If the actual problem was B, it wouldn't matter where A was, there would always be an issue.
  6. So I guess my experience was a tale of three pipes to the server, because I logged in 3 times yesterday, and for two of them I had no issues whatsoever, despite standing right next to someone that was saying they were. On the final log in, I hit the Red X of Doom.
  7. Sorry, I played NWN 2. Your assessment of Obsidian is flawed. The toolset made prettier areas, but that's about it. For myself, I found KotoR to be better than KotoR 2. Not that this means anything, Outerworlds was fun, but it didn't fire up my need to roll multiple alts and try different things. I only have 29 toons on my main server here, and 11 on the other. But all of this is subjective, meaning that different people are going to view it differently. I see this argument a lot industry wide, across the MMOs I've played over the years, and it always falls flat. Why? Because when a gaming company does something I don't like, I pick up my pitchfork, and join everyone at the bonfire, for a short while, and then, I speak with my wallet. In the last year and a half, I've had this happen three times: an old Korean Grinder called Rappelz, where they started trying to insist that a pure DPS warrior class has always been a tank, despite having skills to ditch aggro instead of grab it; DDO spitting on 5 years of character development with changes to archery; and ESO. I even managed to get a refund on my sub in DDO. Then we get to the irony, right? "But I didn't get the achievement on the first try, so the whole game is broken", right? This is the premise with which this thread was opened, but I'm supposed to believe that it's "but we complain because we care"? I'm more inclined to run with your last paragraph, than anything else, with the irony being that it wouldn't have occurred to me, if you hadn't pointed it out.
  8. Except no? The prices on the GTN were already high before the program was terminated. I cited a pair of gloves earlier, that happened 2 years ago, I think. So either you're opening premise is wrong, or someone was psychic, and knew this was going to happen? spelling...
  9. I couldn't imagine it either, and so I wouldn't. What I would do, however, is the same thing I did when I was new, and learned to make them myself. I don't have to buy augments or kits either, for the same reason. I maxed all the crafting disciplines, and as I added alts, I turned them into gatherers for the crafters. Doing this, the market can fluctuate as much as it likes, I don't need to buy anything, if I don't want to. This isn't something I learned here, although it did remind me, when I was missing a pair of gloves for Revan's armor set, and the only pair listed I could buy a SH, and open a few rooms for the listed price. I randomly came back from one of my breaks and found the complete set was on sale in CM, and so I just bought the whole set. That's my advice to anyone that's looking for luxury items, like the OP's mentioned Black/Black dye, just use your stipend of coins to buy it. It may take not buying some loot crates, or whatever, and just save them up. Then when it shows up, buy it. Problem solved.
  10. ...and what stopped you from completing Legendary? Did Section X close?
  11. Hi, I don't play the GTN for anything. I've listed 2 items for sale in the last 3 years, and they didn't sell, and I've purchased 4 listed items in the last 3 and a half months, and "I can't afford luxury items" isn't a problem that needs a developer fix.
  12. I only had to do it four times, two days in a row.
  13. Except that I've purchased one Guild Ship, or, more accurately, contributed to it's purchase. I have leveled 20 characters to 75, with 10 more working their way up to 75, no matter how gradually. One of those hit three levels yesterday. Some of which had skills I could get, which are now free. One time purchase vs constant stream, I wonder which would be more effective, and, ultimately, why we couldn't have had both? Credit sinks could have prevented this from being a "problem". Removing them, instead of just adding more with the examples you listed, contributed to this "problem". Removing credits from the game won't affect the Cartel Market at all. Black/Black dyes sold for higher prices than normal dyes, even before they were a billion credits each, so not being able to list them for that didn't stop people from buying them and listing them.
  14. I'd start by addressing the real issue: Removing credit sinks from the game in the first place. Remember when you had to actually buy your skills from the trainers? How about when taxis charged a fee? The taxi thing wasn't going to be overly effective in the long run, but it was there. I do, however, recall not having enough credits, back when I was new, to buy all the skills I had unlocked at certain levels, or the time I had to spend a couple of days on my sniper flying the PvE space missions, because I couldn't even afford to fly to my next Class Mission. Ok, it sorted itself on the first day, but I spammed a few more days of it to build up a buffer. They dropped the ball with the crafting sinks too. Instead of requiring stupid amounts of materials from the Crew Skills Vendor, they could have stuck to a "reasonable" amount, and just raised the price proportionately, as they had been doing until the last crafting update. The "problem" with the GTN is that there are entirely too many free credits floating around in the game, some of which had solid methods of removal that were removed, with nothing suitable to replace them. Trying to "fix" it by fixing prices on luxury items isn't going to solve the actual problem.
  15. I never claimed I didn't, except in relation to your reply that you didn't mention comps, after you did. I provided something on topic to the thread in my post, to demonstrate that no, the game isn't "watch a movie" easy to everyone playing it. You decided to internalize that to mean I was somehow going after you about a comp. I can't do anything about that.
  16. It's a public forum, anything posted can be replied to by anyone. The fact that I can read and respond to posts here means that, within the rules, it's perfectly acceptable to reply to any post on here. So "not directed at you" is as meaningless as "go to Hoth at level 10 and be fine". Yes, I mentioned Comps, and explained the context for why, in the post you quoted here. So either you're not reading them, or you're not understanding them. I can't break it down any simpler than what I have, so I can't help you there, other than to point out the obvious point of that part of the post: People are struggling with Story content on those planets, so the game can't be all that easy, at least, not for them. I called foul on a statement that I knew wasn't true.
  17. Read the post again. I respond to you, and then break up the post as so: This line is a new thought, that may, or may not be directly related to what is in the first line. This is a response to you claiming you could go to Hoth at level 10, and be fine. This is what happens on these planets when players are struggling with Story content. Note how Hoth is not mentioned at all in this line? There's a reason; it didn't need to be, because we both know that what I asked for in the first part of the post would be a disaster for your argument. Context. Nowhere does that claim anything about your comps, you weren't discussing Nar Shaddaa or Tatooine, you were "exaggerating" about what you could do on Hoth at level 10. I cited your mention of comps after the fact, because you did, in fact, mention comps. I have already highlighted that, so I think it's actually you that is getting your posts confused. You might be able to keep them a bit straighter if you drop the "exaggerating"?
  18. Ok, let's look at what you're arguing: IF you don't want the game as hard as I want it, you suck, and you should spend your day on YouTube, so the devs will amp up the difficulty for me. Of course, any argument against this is "moving the goal posts". Counter arguments aren't moving the goal posts, they just run contrary to what you want, and since you don't know how to counter what I'm saying, I'm moving the goal posts. BTW, what I'm arguing here is maintaining the status quo, with the caveat that they could fix final boss instances to be the actual level they're supposed to be, instead of allowing them to be hit by level sync. So if this is "asking for a visual novel", we already have it, and you may as well rage quit now, and save yourself some grief.
  19. It was also done in the time frame where this game was supposed to be so challenging.
  20. Yes, I did mention comp influence, but context is king. I mentioned them in context to what is posted in General Chat when a player asks for help on these planets. It had nothing to do with you, but you chose to make it about you? Why is that?
  21. Nor will they "get as far as me". They're not going to have a plethora of trophies in their SH, from SM all the way to MM. They may, eventually, get BiS gear, given the way gear is distributed now, but not as "quickly" as I will. They can, however, expect to be able to play the stories that were the main selling point for the base game. It's not a From Software game, where the expectation is that only top tier players will finish it. You see, this isn't a SP experience, it's an MMO. It's not PvP-centric, so that level of challenge doesn't exist for everyone. This would be even more hilarious, if it weren't for the fact that it's so pervasive. You see, I can pretty much copy/paste my responses from GW 2 forums, and ESO forums, for games I've played recently, to here, in the exact same topic. There's a reason for that, developers are in it to make money, and they need as wide a net as possible to catch as much money as possible. You can say it's a stupid argument all day, but I understand the motivation behind making the base game as accessible as it is.
  22. Yep, you never mentioned a comp at all.. Oh, wait: I guess that was "an exaggeration" too?
  23. There are a myriad of reasons for the game to be less hard these days. I have all the datacrons unlocked, and they apply as soon I roll up. I have all the classes done, and the buffs apply when I walk out of the first cutscene. I've been playing for years now, off and on, and all of my rotations are muscle memory, and all my gear stays relatively current, because I have maxed out crafters in all disciplines. I have crafted stims, and crafted med packs, if I need them. Instanced content that should be locked to whatever level it initially was, instead of the planetary level, just to name a few. The devs can't build around most of this. The only thing they can do is fix the instances, but even then, I didn't struggle with them when I was new, it's not going to change now. Sure, some people don't want to be fussed with the combat. What's wrong with that? My money isn't worth more than their money is. They've paid for access to the same game I have, and they should be able to play it w/out having to get any where near my skill level, if that's how they want to play. It's not on me to dictate how they should play either. The only time I have any control over that is when I'm grouping up for content that requires some coordination. However, I don't think I'm going to wind up in any groups with them, because I had to quit Ops, due to my own health. If I did, however, anyone not doing what's expected of them in a group situation can, and will be kicked. But when they're knocking around in the OW, doing their own thing, I don't care how they go about it, and I'm sure not wanting to, as I said earlier, lock them out by virtue of insisting that the game conform to my standards.
  24. I could actually care less about your tips. My very first fight with Baras took 3 minutes. Comps were unique, and had to be geared, and there was no level sync. So when was this supposed to be hard? The only end of story boss that gave me any trouble at all was the end of the Consular story, because I consistently interrupted the wrong skill... None of the rest were harder than Baras, and none of them lasted very long. So no, it's got nothing to do with your tips, and everything to do with there hasn't been a time since I started playing that this game was challenging in Class/planetary missions. Some FPs and Ops, sure, but the basic story content? Nope.
  25. I've found the content easy, even when others insist that it was more challenging. In fact, I find that it's that way in most of the MMOs that I've played, and the only parts of others where I didn't find it easy was the equivalent of Ops here. Things like dungeons, and what would amount to heroic areas in those games. This isn't a design flaw with the games, it's that I play my SP games on the highest difficulty, and I have been doing so since they were a thing. I was doing the H4 on Oricon, while it was relevant, with a Shadow tank and Nadia, who was a DPS back then. Of course, I was also progression raiding in my guild too, so I had BiS gear, and so did the comp. Back when I only had like 8 characters, and they all had BiS gear, because that's what I ran Ops for. But I don't expect, and never have, that any developer will build the game to suit me. Yes, there are lots of players that are better at it than I am, but there are a lot more that aren't. Why would I want to push them out of an MMO that they may enjoy, just because I think that the game's too easy? If the story's boring for you, skip it. Once you get to the fleet, you can start running Heroics and FPs to level up just fine, or, if you're into it, PvP. I'm not against adding tiers to instanced content. I'd probably take advantage of it. However, that's not what the intent of this thread was, reading the title and the opening post, and, I'm betting, reading your tips, that it's not all that you're looking for either.
