  1. Heh... wow. I say I shouldn't and then I do. Another week and too much to read! (I read it anyway. It was all so good!)
  2. Hands down for PCs... Male Inquisitor. Amazing voice acting work! Also like the female Inquisitor, both Sith Warrior, and the male Trooper and Knight. Companions... Quinn's voice actor has impressed me. I also like Vector, Vette, Tharan, Kira, Talos and Andronikos of the companions I know. As for NPCs, Kilran is nicely irritating, and Zash was well-acted!
  3. ...Teach ME to wait a whole week on comments! And no more worries about multiple posting.
  4. @Bright_Ephemera- That was absolutely adorable! I love droids, and I love Jawas... the blending of the two was everything I love about both "races" in one story! So typical. And yeah... if Blizz can do ANYthing about the ship droid... PLEASE... @YoshiRaphElan- This was good. Short and to the point, but proves that most likely those companion missions don't always go as smoothly as planned! I like how you describe Jorgan's snarl before firing in combat... very much the soldier we know him as in game, but definitely Cathar. I enjoyed this. @SifaSeven- Glad you liked the story... that last line really set the tone for Nakova and Quinn in my head! Very cat-and-mouse, initially. And yours... I love the fact that you didn't tell the whole story... Kaliyo doesn't seem the type to get into much detail about such things, but an Agent would be able to draw some conclusions. And yes... it does have a very Mandalorian feel, so that was a good choice!
  5. Still have a little catching up to do on reading, but I actually had one for this prompt too! Prompt - Boring Conversation Anyway Title - Can't Be Serious Character - Lord Nakova (Warrior) and Captain Quinn Spoilers - Sith Warrior Companion Conversation
  6. Hello! Bunch of comments in this one... I love reading the stories! @Frauzet- Wow. Yeah I didn't let Corso do that either. It does make one wonder how he'll feel about it tomrrow... a year later... ten years later. Well worth giving consideration. @SifaSeven- I loved the quiet attitude, yet the level of skill displayed, and that subtle respect. A friend of mine plays a male Chiss IA, so I know the voice, and I could hear it so clearly under your dialogue. And anybody who can make Kaliyo that curious definitely has talent! @YoshiRaphElan- I have played several characters through Tatooine, and you captured the feel of the climate so well in the way the characters react... all blistering heat and sand in everything... nicely done. @Alaurin- Nice work tying in not just two but three characters on this prompt. I liked not only the broader sense of connection in them all looking to reunite, but the subtle echoes too... the two Cathar Tia and Kat stepping off a shuttle... the way both Kat and Val wrinkled their noses at differing smells... their echoing thoughts of each other. @Kabeone- I haven't finished JK yet, but I'm familiar to some degree with both companions... you drew some very interesting parallels there. Very clever play with background, personalities and ideas. And yes... excited for next prompt.
  7. @Alaurin- That was absolutely hysterical! I could hear Elara's reaction in that prim and proper Imperial accent of hers, and Aric too, with that tone of his when you know he's being patient but it's wearing thin... only this time it was more embarrassment. I about lost it with the mirror scene... The rivalry between the sisters was good too, you could really feel the history there. Although the bit about both Mallay and Aric having their own reasons for being a bit self-conscious was very intriguing. This whole arc was a fun read!
  8. @Striges- That was entertaining! I can completely feel for you on the point of railroaded companions... there have been a few I just don't think I would have brought along... even if I ended up liking them later. (Kath for example always left me with the impression he was always looking over his shoulder waiting for Khem to eat him! Kaliyo, too, is a fun companion and I love the banter as a player, but why somebody like Malova would have taken a loose cannon like her with is beyond me.) I loved the dialogue though... the repeated "get off my ship" very much had the feel of the reptitive "Where's my ship?!" from the in-game choices during the first book. Nicely characterized!
  9. Yes. I got that outfit too. (Worth it... I have 3 characters who are using it... Quinn, Talos and Malova wear it!) But somehow it seemed... funny... on Balmorra. That and once I got used to her looking all formal, it was fun to "make" her wear something else. And thank you all for the kind explanations about writing schedules, prompts and such. I've actually had the prompt list bookmarked for some time now, just haven't gotten around to posting.
  10. @LaxKnight- That was an epic tale. I'm sorry you weren't able to tell it sooner. It very much echoes a lot of the anger I've felt dealing with the various Sith in-game... unreasonable demands, ridiculous arrogance, and causing so much hurt and pain like it's no big deal... you really echoed that well! Even a victory results in defeat because of the whims of somebody who's supposed to be on your side... it's insane. Oh, and yes... I have Malova in the Unfettered Trenchcoat for Balmorra... and BOY does it look different after watching the little uniformed Agent run around the capital! But that's what you do... become somebody other than yourself, for the good of the Empire. She's outside her comfort zone, sure... but when is the IA not?
  11. Alright, I suppose I can post this one. This would be me working backwards through the most recent prompts, and it was my Agent that grabbed it. This is set just before Balmorra, or right after the briefing for same, to be technical. Prompt: Marketing Title: Cover-Up Character: Malova (Imperial Operative) and Kaliyo And a clarification, probably unnecessary:
  12. @Alaurin- I did go back and read your original after all the comments with the shiny objects references... and reading part two just now made me very happy I did! This was awesome. Poor Aric... he's such a serious person, and to be reduced to... baser instincts... has to be frustrating. Not to mention Elara! I loved that you picked these two ordinarily straightlaced companions to show the other side of! A fun read, both of them! Also, as my time is somewhat sporadic and I've been lurking here for a while, I was wondering what the accepted posting schedule was... I was tempted to put up a second piece, but I wasn't sure if that would be too much in one week, as there are plenty of others here too. Is there an unwritten rule about this somewhere? Is it weird if I put up two or so stories in a week and then maybe not get back to it for a while, or should I try and keep on schedule?
  13. @marissalf- WOW. That's heavy. Beautiful, pensive, tangled and frustrating... it almost seems death is harder to cope with when you're estranged, depending on the circumstances. A short, simple, effective gutpunch. Well done.
  14. @Frauzet- Very nice story. I like how you had the inevitable crossover between character arcs as they occur in the same place. Gives a nice opportunity for little asides with other characters' companions, and makes it all feel like it's happening in the same place. The little subtleties were good... the bit about the guy with Kaliyo having had an Imperial accent initially... and I second the approval of the cat and mouse description of Kaliyo... absolutely nailed it. @Marissalf- Apologies to the stories I skipped on the way back, but I have just recently developed a keen interest in Quinn's story... I like how you've captured his character in the situation he's in. I could hear his voice delivering the lines quite clearly... nicely done. What absolutely made me have to comment, though, is uncanny similarity... My IA is also in concept Quinn's daughter! Though I initially have focused on my Sorcerer and Sage, there will doubtless be many upcoming Quinn references. But yes, I find that a completely believable choice and it was interesting to see how Quinn reacted to the decision, because that was something I'd been debating myself.
  15. I really appreciate you acknowledging this possibility. I really only posted here about the issue because I see PvP players getting a lot of grief for deliberately "trying" to flag people who do not wish to be... it's all over General Chat. If it's not something that they are actually DOING it seems unfair to accuse them of this. I'm all for awareness. I've heard that people have gone so far as to have action taken against others for Griefing, and it's unfair to the players who enjoy the challenge of PvP to always "be the bed guys" in this issue when it really could just be a mistake. ...That being said, I can understand how it might be unclear exactly what is to be gained, and what challenge is to be had, by a L55 killing a L25 just because the flag happens to be on, especially if there's a question of legitimate accidental flagging... but I will concede that perhaps this is a better question for a different thread. At any rate, if anybody knows of a way to avoid getting flagged for the actions of your active companion, I'm all ears. I don't mind taking reasonable precautions to make life easier for everybody during an Event. ***** [update] I will have to check whether it is just the one heal that might cause this, or if I would need to disable enough powers that my companion would be far less useful. As it stands, I think it's just the one heal... but at my level if I have to disable more than one, that's half my companion's efficiency. I appreciate actually taking the time to present a solution. (As a side note, the person I spoke to told me that generally if your companion hits a non-teammate with a heal, the heal has no effect on you or the targeted player other than to flag you for PvP. If the heal actually DOES work, I completely understand why this would flag. If it, in fact, does not work, but flags anyway, than this IS a bug IMO and needs to be decided one way or the other... either it works and flags, or it does neither.)
  16. I had a question, and a possible example, of a situation where the PvP flag may inadvertently be triggered, and I posted about it a few days ago. This has been a busy thread, and since the current discussion has come around to asking for examples of flagging that are unrelated to player error or targeting, I feel this is still a relevant question. I have gotten my dailies done in the Rakghoul event without incident, as many others have described. Recently though I brought my Sith Warrior to the area, and got inadvertently flagged as a Level 55 ran by our duo. (We were 25 at the time.) I suspect it may have been due to Quinn's heals. I know some of them are AoE, and a friend of mine who has been in the game since launch confirmed that he's seen people flagged in the past because an errant companion caught a flagged player outside the Group in the effect. I would like more than just one person's observations, which is why I asked here. If this IS the case, I would venture to say that the only way a person could consciously avoid being accidentally flagged would be to not bring a healing companion to the area. I am hoping that a crowd as tactically-versed and as build-versed as the PvP community would have to be could clearly understand how that restriction could be a big problem, especially on a PvE server. So, again, does anybody think this is a valid example of the system ACTUALLY BEING BUGGED? I'm not sure... as I said I don't even know if this is actually happening, but I expect people with more PvP experience than I would have the answer.
  17. Okay, I figured I'd start browsing backward, and had a few minutes, so I read the fic above my own... @icecreampants- I'm not sure what I liked better... the tension of the ending, that taut wire about to snap that is the Agent's every job, or the playful banter with Temple that preceded it. You really can't keep your guard up all the time, but for an Agent it's hard to let it down. This captured some of that in a very short space. Very cool!
  18. Thank you for the warm welcome... I appreciate the comments! I'm surprised how fast you read, with as much as you have to get through. I need to read a few more of the current stories and give some feedback as well, but even though it's been a long day I wanted to at least return your kind comments. I will try and keep up with your prompts too... will do my overloaded brain some good.
  19. First time posting here. I have toyed with a few of these prompts, but always feared they were out of date. I just happened to come back to this thread and see there was a current prompt, and it sort of fit exactly the dynamic between my two mains in the game, who turned out to be uncannily similar in concept. This is a bit of a stream-of-consciousness story, with a lot of what's in their heads rather than action. I also wrote it cold at a late hour. As such, I have no objection to constructive criticism. Prompt: Synchronicity Title: Flip Side Chracter(s): Caylenn Lorin (Sage) and Tharan * Darth Katharsys (Sorcerer) and Talos Spoilers: One vague reference to the Inquisitor story on Alderaan.
  20. I FIGURED IT OUT. ...Maybe. I got myself flagged in the tunnels today, but my teammate was not flagged. He had Khem out. I had Quinn. The mobs we hit can also be attacked by other players even after they have spawned and aggroed. This is what I think happened. A damaged 55 ran by and (probably not intentionally) hit one of our mobs. I have noticed players attacking mobs in the same areas will sort of "group"... if I walk near spawns of 55s I did not make, they will sometimes break combat with their "owners" and chase me. So... hypothetically... if a damaged 50 did attack one of our group, I wonder if it's possible that Quinn then healed them. ...And I got flagged. Thoughts? Am I crazy? Because there's enough anger on both the accusers' and defenders' side on this matter that it's GOT to be something besides a known exploit. PS- Just as a note... generally speaking, 25s do not deliberately flag for PvP in an area where 55s run amok. so if you DO attack somebody who is far below your level, it is most likely rude. A bannable offense? Hardly. Griefing? Up for debate. But, in my opinion, inconsiderate. Just saying.
  21. I have thought about this, and I will join the odd minority who actually enjoy Quinn. I was considering something along the lines mentioned in the awesome post about beer-and-buttered-popcorn Baras as well... As a character up until that point in the story, Quinn seems almost painfully awkward and genuine. The idea of Baras taking a man who is patently against the idea of betrayal and forcing him to kill the woman he loves, just to see the look on her face... well, given Baras' methods, I would not put it past him. On a different note, Quinn may have thought if he handled the betrayal himself, he could gauge the best way to allow you to come out on top, even if it meant his own life. Not by any means Confirmed, but we'll call it Plausible. Also... Baras is a Sith. Quinn is not. Force Persuade can happen. Just saying. Many possible options... yes, including, but not limited to Quinn the Backstabbing Brat. That said, there are a few things I am doing with my Warrior to work this right in my head, since I have just enough spoilers to know better, and still want to enjoy experiencing my own options. The MAIN thing I am doing differently, because yes, it seems the resolution is handled horribly, is that as soon as I finish the Broysc arc, I am halting conversation with Quinn until after Corellia... let the intensity build a bit till that snapping point and see how the last of the conversations feel afterward. Basically it'll guarantee that the companion story doesn't END with that awful business. I'll have to see how it goes. I have been recording multiple convo options and may piece together something close to a plausible story of it once I have played it all. But for my part, I'm going to enjoy Quinn as an interestingly-complicated love story for a change.
  22. Okay... I figured I would give it a go, and once inside the Republic area, those things are spaced out pretty easily. The one at the door aggroed, but the others were avoidable, and the one at the door didn't kill me. So I got it. But wow, that was a pain! Thanks for the reassurances I wasn't doing something insane... or if I was, that it was the insane thing I was supposed to be doing.
  23. I currently am going back to various planets with my Sorcerer now that he's 55, and tagging various objectives, such as datacrons, defeats, lore, mapping and those happy little macrobinocular droids. I have gotten to 5 of 6 on Nar Shaddaa, and I am rather puzzled. According to (I assume) reliable guides on SWTOR-Spy and Dulfy, the 6th droid for Empire is in a Republic area. No trouble there, I'm 55, way above anything on that planet, right? So I head that way, and as I'm leaving the Gadget area to go out to the taxi, I get ganked by L55 uber-Champion-somethingorother droids that have taken exception to my innocently piloting a speeder past their watchposts. Well, one does not become Sith if one fears death, so I crawl my way out of there and onto the platform. So far so good. NOW I find that as I set foot on the platform, I flag for PvP. Uncertain as to how this will affect my ability to rez in place, I take the side of the platform without the angry droids and approach the entrance to the area where I need to go in... and there are MORE angry droids. Here is where I start wondering if I am doing this wrong. Funny thing about these online guides I found... none of them mention the guards of the opposing faction being a problem, let alone possible ways to solve said problem. (I am assuming a Republic character would have equal difficulty making it into Upper Industrial.) I have also been told by a friend of mine that these types of droids would be an issue even for a duo... apparently they are trouble enough for a bigger team. So I'm at a loss as to how to proceed. I have done a bit of searching around on the forum but nothing on this has come to light, so if there is an old thread on this, please link me to it. Otherwise, any advice would be much appreciated.
  24. Just an update... finally got this emote for my Inquisitor. Was planning to unlock it for all my characters, but it seems that the bug is still going on. To be more specific... "the bug" = a beautifully rendered emote, with intact lightsaber, not just hilt, followed by "sheathing" it while the weapon is still fully extended, after which it slowly moves back to my hand. As an additional side note, I cannot hit Z to draw/stow my weapon afterward until I have moved a step first. At that point Z draws the weapon, so as far as the "code" is concerned, while my character is holding his lightsaber stuck to his relaxed hand, the game believes it is sheathed rather than drawn. Hoping for a fix soon!
  25. I love FRAPS for screenshots cos you can pick which frame you like best. Also, I love the OP's quote too! You really have to hear it to get it...
