  1. Oh but it gets worse, not only is it possible for multiple things to be using the same debuff (like 2 ore 3 dps commando's) but sentinel and i think guardian dps use the same burning icon as plasma cell on their dots, so there can be 4 or 5 instances of the same icon on a debuff bar and no way of knowing which is yours. Just darken the debuffs that aren't mine. all I ask. anything else would be cool, but i need something here because it's a little bit absolutely infuriating.
  2. The chance isn't even that low, if you buy smugglers tokens (if you bought kingpin chips, you deserve the loss) and only run kingpin slots with the feeling lucky buff, the statistical average cost of the rancor is 2.3 mil. It's a huge time sink, but the regualr rancor sells for 11 mil. The nature of gambling is that it's random. You don't deserve squat, and it doesn't need to be available for certs. You got screwed by the RNG gods. deal with it, it happens to my assassin on a regular basis. Either commit to spending whatever it takes or set a limit and don't go above it. Being angry at bioware that you didn't win it would be like being angry at the lottery companies because you didn't win. Well no **** you didn't win, the chances of winning anything decent are incredibly low, and the prize for doing so is massive. That's why people play. It's not exciting if it's garunteed, it's routine. Mundane. Dull.
  3. Well, no, people claim shadows can't tank because shadows have a high maintenence rotation compared to the other 2 tanks, and most of the shadow tanks (especially at lower levels) can't simaltaniously manage the high maintenence rotation and worry about multi target aggor and positioning and deal with boss mechanics, and if you screw it up you lose 4% dr on yourslef, 5 % damage nerf on the enemies and a 5% accuracy nerf on enemies so you're taking 14% more damage than you should be with 10% lower armor rating than the other tanks (which means you explode, or the healers have to work really hard to keep you up) and that's even assuming you can hold the aggro when you aren't getting off your channels on time.
  4. It's really not.. Because that's how the game actually works. My interrrupt can miss, the dps interrupt won't (if they geared even close to properly) so because I can't do it reliably, and the dps can, it's the job of the dps and as the tank, I shouldn't be needing to do it at all. I will if it needs to be done because something goes wrong, but with like 3 specific exceptions (and those exceptions are in fact BS and changes should be make to reflect it) The dps can and should be in charge of the inrettupts. It's not the attitude of a bad tank, it's the bottom line. If interrupts are garunteed to hit for tanks (which could be tied to the stance or put in a tree ability fairly easily), that will change, untill then it's not my job unless **** hits the fan.
  5. Those ships have a number of strengths, and hp/manuverability is only one of them. That's why the multi rolls underperformb, and will likely continue to do so. They're either better at the specialised ship at the specialised task, and so overpowered and render the specialised ship pointless, or they don't, and underperform compared to any specialised ship in similar situations. Simply giving them extra hp or menuverability to match bombers or scouts wouldn't make them better at the job of bombers or scouts than bombers or scouts, the bombers and scouts have a host of specialised weapons and abilities that exsist soley to make them better at that 1 job (sniping/dogfights/trapping, ect) where strike fighters are intended to be (or at least work out to be) more flexible and so don't get things like blaster overcharge that is a large part of the devastating damage potential of the scout. My theory is that they're party support. Because they have really powerful shields they can totally afford to run right into trouble and soak some serious damage before they go down where a scout would be shredded by the opening salvos. While they do that, gunships can get set up and scouts can get to wrecking the people who are busy shooting at strike fighters (and not accomplishing a whole lot, a good pilot in a strike can successfully evade the majority of enemy fire for several seconds at a time and let their shields soak the rest, twice if they have directional shields)
  6. Dual spec? My tanks spec gets changed like every 3rd fight in hm raids. Dual spec wouldn't help me, and excluding field respec for it would be terrible because I'm locked out of my ability to swap my crap as needed. My vanguard has 4 specs, 2 tank (pvev/pvp) and 2 tank hybrid specs, 1 with 14% aoe damage reduction and 1 with 14% dot reduction for varying fights. My guardian has her regular spec, a spec with expeditious protector for fights with a lot of movement/aoe damage and the 2 dps specs for pvp/pve. Without spending a ton of time implimenting a system that lets me save any number of specs, I'd much rather have field respec. It's unlimited specs while spending 20 seconds reassembling my stuff.
  7. By impossible you mean "I don't know how to do it" and those are not the same. You're also straight up wrong. you could set strike fifghters hp to 130 percent of bombers and they still would not be better campers than the bombers are, the bombers would retain their ability to soak a ton of damage and set up death nests and the strike fighter would gain no such ability by virtue of higher armor. You could set their manuverability to the same value as the flash and they would not be better dogfighters than the flash because of it, the still do significantly less damage in the same period of time in close range combat The hard truth of multi roll air craft is that they always underperform when compared to a specialised craft attempting the same thing. They are support roles, doing whatever is needed at the time without having to change ships. But they can do it all. If you want them viable, expand on that, or find a new roll for them to fill by altering their functionality entirely, because a multi roll craft isn't going to/shouldn't out perform a specialised craft when doing the task the specialised craft exsists to do.
  8. Ok, seriously. Interrupts=the dps job. it's that simple. Tanks get it as a backup if things go wrong, like really really wrong because backup interrupts are, at least in my group, assigned to ranged dps because they won't have to move far to get it. The tanks interrupts can miss, so it's not their job unless there is no other option. The only time I've seen this be a problem is in flashpoints or pugs when the dps is too lazy to do things like they should be and complain about it
  9. Admittedly I play a scout, but i really wonder how people even get hit with missilesmost of the time. You can evade the lockons (and are given an alarm to tell you when people are trying) with LOSing or erratic movement (they have to track you for the lock on duration after all.) and you can evade the missiles after they've fired fairly easily unless they're really close or you have multiple people staggering missile locks. As a scout, the ion rail gun is far more irritating, quick players can fire off a half charged shot to insta break my shield and them burst laser me in the face at close range for an insta death. I can't even flip the directional shields in time, and if I'm not within attack range of said gunship then an ion railgun shot is usuallly a death scentance because it kills my ability to evade any follow up attacks from anything.
  10. Yeah, tanks, at least in pve, don't need or want accuracy. You want the companion buff, and you can afford to have a point or 2 in an accuracy boosting talent in the tree, but that's it. None on gear, ever. TBH it's the dps job to get interrupts in raids, tanks get it as backup if the dps dies or is late or it isn't ready yet or something, but the dps cycle interrupts to make sure the thing that must be interrupted is interrupted. Inital aggro can be a problem with an unlucky miss or a series of lucky crits on the part of a dps yes, but I haven't had an issue with any consistently and My main is a guardian tank and our threat gen is the lowest of the tanks. Keep in mind that tank stance doubles the threat you generate and then specific moves have multipliers on top of that. In most fights, against a single boss, because of mechanics and such, the dps probably isn't breaking 3k by very much, that means that if you are capable of like 1200 dps (for the record, my vanguard in 162's can do 920) then people pulling off you shouldn't be a huge issue. What actually causes problems is sin tanks pulling off of the other tank before they're supposed to and getting the raid cleaved. All gear for every class has to be itemised to be best in slot, that's just how the game works. It's similar to how lots of games work actually, but instead of a variable power drop (like in borderlands, where 1 gun can have hundreds of possible stat combinations) it's fixed and you itemise out the undesirable stuff.
  11. You people know that there were comics that had revan in them right? revan wasn't just another hollow self insert fantasy, nor could that work in a persistant star wars universe. Actual character, has actual personality, not your little plaything. There is probably a "cannon" version of how all the class stories actually go in game to. Deal with it.
  12. themite torpedos, unless they changed it, thermite and proton torpedos both havve 4 second lock on times. I cannot possibly express how bad that is against anyone/thing who isn't completely stationary and sitting out in the open (the opposite of what bombers want to do, btw) and as i just said, none of my scouts no metter the setup, can consistently take a bomber. Even should i be good enough to stay within 1000 meters at all times, which i'm not, between the 2 seperate shield boosts (shield overcharge/charged plating and engine power converter) I'm still not killing them before they cancircle back to their other bombs and force me out, blaster overcharge or not. Skill can counter anything, that has no bearing what so ever on it's relative power and wehter or not it is to high.
  13. Math. Stastical likelyhoods. I spent 1. 9 mil to get a rancor, a friend spent 600k and got 2, another friend spent 23mil. Not 2.3, 23mil and still hasn't gotten one. That's how random chance works.
  14. 1, there were a ton of class changes that were really, really needed. Atm, though power is still relative, dp guardians, with 3800 dps are the bottom of the barrel, while Mercs (i think) are the top at 4200. That's really good across the board, it's not like it was where dps sins/sorcs/vanguards were just kinda useless compared to the other dps available assuming player skill was roughly even. That is worthy of some major praise, at least as far as PvE goes, all on it's own, because keeping every dps class viable for end game PvE is no mean feat (or it would have been prefected a very long time ago.) Some trees need some help, but every class is in a good place atm, and that's fantastic. Yes, server stuff breaking sucks. The PTS doesn't exactly have 30000 players on it though, that kind of issue is hard to forsee without stresstesting that they couldn't really do. It's completely understandable, if not good, and It's a good bet a fix is incoming ASAP. 2. Have you been paying attention to the modles and textures of the last couple packs? Look at the dashing hero and daring rouges upper bodies [/url] and then compare it to the Unfettered treanchcoat See all that terrible streaching instead of fitting it to the character in the rogues and heros chests? It also moves the belly button for who knows what reason and the rouges is terribly blocky. Now go look at the kingpin weapons and new armor in the packs. Some of it is reskinned old stuff, but is a HUGE improvement in texture quality. That they stopped being lazy and stepped up thier textures instead of using lazy money grab items in the packs is awesome beyond beliefe, many companies that start that crap never stop. Definitely worthy of praise. 3. I wouldn't be against the slots staying permanently with rotating rewards, in fact I even suggested it. It's still a well done event with a bunch of cool and high quality stuff to get. That it "should have been in game in the first place" is not only your opinion, but it doesn't detract from it being well done now and doing anything well, even if you feel it's late, is also worthy of praise.
  15. and you don't think that requires a disproportinate amount of skill to do? I can't. All they have to do is use a dodge and/or vary their speed rapidly. Admiddedly, I'm not the best pilot, but my sole answer to bombers is to switch to a gunship
  16. On the 1 side, i have been part of non premades, (ie my raid group once we got burned out raiding) straight up decimate teams of good gsf pilots who i recognise on sight because we had TS. On the other side, we are a team of 8 people who know and are used to working with eachother and communicating effectively to accomplish a goal. This is not most pugs. Even if you could get them into it and with mics, which is doubtful, they wouldn't know how to communicate with most of the other players in an effectve manner, either becase they communicate poorly in general or just aren't used to flying together and covering eachother. As an example, people in warzones (i'd guess the majority but i have no proof) quite frequently say crap like INC left. *** is left? Left changes with where I am and what I'm doing, and there are 3 nodes. It's neadlessly confusing, and even worse in voice chat when people near you are actually allerting you of threats to your left, while people are calling inc left while they mean west. (Say east/west/north/south, it's universal.) Now, this is a problem in regualr WZ on a 2d plane. Now imagine a 3d enviroment with no clear up or down. Left is less than useless. As is any non compas direction, and even with the use of compass directions there are 2 directions unaccounted for (the z axis) and you don't know anyones names without taking the second to look or have anyones voices associated with their names so yo don't know who to help. In short, i don't see it helping anyone not already dedicated to using in and used to working with the people they're playing with.
  17. My mistake, doesn't stop them killing pretty much whoever in extrtemely short order if given a chance, it's too much damage to just tank. Then perhaps it should be longer, , because as is It's effectively suicide to attempt to chase them. I have to use repeated gurrilla strikes that give them plenty of time to cal for help or flip around and bring thier lasers to bear.
  18. Yeah. ok. Fine. 1. The star wars universe, both in movies and shows, is positively SWAMPED with people of varying races in next to no clothing doing stripper dances. Random bar parton on courasaunt in episode 3 is wearing fishnets and a thong as pants. That's why it's in game. Modesty, at least amoung city dwellers, is not as much of a social value as it is in western society. City cultures in Star wars are quite frequently incredibly flamboyant. For Senators, that's absurd headresses and elaborate clothing. For average citizens, that's hot pink fishnets instead of pants. 2. The armor is no less reavealing on men. Modesty is subjective anyways, clothing is not a basis for judgement. I play with a couple women from New zeland and many of their characters are in skimpy clothing as well because they like how it looks, skimpy or not. 3. Zeltron are awesome, and there are plently of examples of zeltron that in no way fit the stereotype people might associate with them. Just as capable of being ruthless gangsters as hedonists. The hedonists get all the attention for the same reason they do when they show up in western culture, they tend to be loud. What would most probably define the species in SWTOR if they showed up as NPC's would probably be impulsiveness and passion, which is the root of the headonistic culture and ruthless drive for success in the criminal underworld both. Miralin are just green humans. Twileck are humans with leku. Chiss are blue humans with red eyes, Miriluka are humans without eyes, Ratataki are humans without hair, Zabrak are humans without hair. Fact is, many of the species in the Star wars universe are human or near human. It's now non-cannon (but then so is this game) but the reason for that is a combination of things. The rakata were slavers that spread species throughout the galaxy, and iirc early hyperspace travel amongst humans was done with hyperspace cannons, where people were simply fired into space hoping for the best. Most of them didn't live, but the few that landed on habitable planets evolved on that planet over 1000s of years, becoming the many vairants of humans that you see in the star wars universe
  19. My official recommendation? Dual gunships. Gunships wreck bombers and their emplacements farily quickly and with 2 of them you can deny them hiding places to LOS either ship. Admittedly I'm not the most experienced pilot out there, but the anti bomber stuff on the nova is extremely underwhelming. as it involves you being within shooting distance for a bomber, who probably has burst lasers and will kill you in 2 or 3 shots, and I at least am incapable of killing them before the emp wears off and seeker mines are suddenly incoming. I'm really hoping for a bomber nerf. You can't chase/dogfight with them because you'll eat a mine and die, you can't snipe them without support because they'll hide around a corner and can eat 3 full shots before going down. If I don't know something, please let me know, because it's not just "i don't know how to handle this, it's OP," I do know how to handle it and it's still a bit much in my opinion. My actual suggestion? Give the mines a 1 or 2 sec activation time so bombers can be effectively chased down and killed without virtually garunteeing you eat the concussion mines and die along the way.
  20. Admittedly, I'm not 100%, but SM operations NEVER drop unassembled,.or assembled, 180's in either 8 or 16 man. Only arkanian and underworld grade. What they were adding (and where I'm not 100%) is the ultimate comms in the group finder daily, which you can still get.
  21. |If you haven't done every single raid on nighmare 8 and 16 man, not a ton of room to talk. I don't know that you have or haven't, but in the past 6 months they've added Nightmare both dread fortress and dread palace, which I promise you takes a lot more work than a pvp map or 2 because it has to actually be balanced and possible for the current abilities of characters in game as opposed to being another variant of king of the hill or capture the flag.
  22. Crit is rolled against shield chance, i don't actually know the math, not could a quick search (about 5 minuites) lead me to it, but high crit reduces shield chance and vice versa. Its not really a problem unless you're dealing with auto crits, of which there are several because there is 0 chance you shield them. Dot's can't be shielded, though the initial attack can be resisted (dodged.) Every character has internal and elemental damage resists. Guardian tanks (to my knowledge) have the highest at 21% resistance. I have 2 problems with how this dichotomy works. Accuracy stacking and dininishing returns on defense means any attempt to dodge a dot is futile, and they can't be shielded. This means any tanks only ability to mitigate dot damage outside of the basic resistance is in blowing cooldowns. Auto crits negate any attempt to shield them, so for sin tanks specifically, being tagged by an auto crit is brutal compared to the other tanks and there is nothing that can be done to stop it I might suggest changing how these things work, but i don't know how exactly. Perhaps tighter diminishing returns on accuracy and loosend diminishing returns on defense? I understand dots are probably intended to be anti tank, which is great in theory, but dps has come a long way since release and non-guardian tanks significantly underperform compared to guardians in pvp because guardians have the most cooldowns to blow to defend against the auto crits and dots they couldn't otherwise defend against.. Yeah, needs help.
  23. Just ignore them. Don't even report it. If you report it they get banned and start up new accounts to do it again, so you have to ignore tehm again. Just ignore it and it will go away. (if someone actually tried it and got their account stolen, they deserve it. Stop trying to cheat, stop giving out account information like an idiot, basic internet security stuff)
  24. Counter intuitive. For 1 it would require not 8 or 16, but 16 or 13 people, a full raid on each side, to do and they would have to be finishing up at around the same time or have inordinatlely long wait times. 2: People could/would switch to full pvp gear for the last phase and with how boilster works anyone in High level pve gear would take a serious nerf while the experitese gear users or get significant buffs. 3. PvE and PVP have some overlap for sure, but a great many PvE ers habitually avoid pvp situationsf and want nothing to do with it. 4.Screwing with PvE gear drops based on PVP performance. That would not go down well, nobody would be happy about that. 5. Cannonically, iirc, all of the ops are things so threatening that both the republic and empire send 4 man strike teams (one of each class) to work together to take them down.
  25. But it is new. It almost certainly takes less effort to alter exsisting flash points than it does to create new ones, but I'd be happy to see them (HM red reaper could probably give me nightmares.) I'd agree that overuse would be a nasty habit though, and they do it alot. (Look at the armors. Dynamic extrovert is thana vesh with bits cut out, the fancy revelers (?) is the corisaunt social gear with bits cut out, like 30% of the trooper armor is identical and just different colors and all the "new" armor except tulak hords and maybe 1 more is reskinned columi/tionese gear. (cool that it's available again though)) General Quality of work is a different discussion though, and I honestly don't think these forums could have a legitimate discussion on the subject, I've never seen such absurdity in a forum as i do here, and 4 chan is a thing)
