  1. Jedi using guns? Oh they made a movie about that it's called Equilibrium
  2. Ok here is my prediction for 5.0 1) KotFE style story chapters are here to stay. It works to keep folks subbed month to month. 2) I expect 1-2 new flashpoints. I am basing this on SoR. KotFE gave them time to get them done. Likely these will have solo and tactical to start with a hard mode coming. 3) I expect 1-2 new ops. Again based on SoR and again KotFE gave them breathing room to finish them. I only expect SM and HM. I think the days of NM are done. 4) No new pvp maps and nothing for GSF. 5) Stat-wise, 70 will have new tiers of gear. Common Data Crystal level with be just over 224, maybe 230 or so and go up from there. Op gear will be BIS and top tier Op will stay 5-20 pts over Radiant/Crafted. 6) The increase level cap will have it's adjustment and we'll likely see a small boost at mast level with either a new ability or an ability replacer/morph. Utility points may get a boost or be adjusted to spread out again. Now my crazy hopes 1) Two new hero style classes like WoW did. They would start at say 60. I'm hoping for Zakuul Knight and Scion. 2) A new Stronghold or two. I am hoping for Alderaan, Hoth, or Manaan. 3) The option to turn our player ship into something closer to a stronghold. Think something like a guild ship but for single players. 4) Tactical ops. I am think something like HM flashpoint difficulty. 4 man groups are just easier to pull off then 8 or 16 man ones. Keep top tier loot behind the full Op gate, but having some way to access the content with a smaller group is a good option. 5) Classed focused story. I know it is likely gone but at least some side missions.
  3. Dear SWTOR team, In case your still reading this thread. Overall I loved the expansion. Was it perfect? No. I wouldn't expect that, but it did engage me and draw me in. A couple of things, * Ben mentioned in the Bad Feelings podcast that game should try to accommodate a variety of playstyles. This is spot on. Sometimes I want group content. Sometimes I want to solo. Sometimes PvP is just the thing for me. You've done a great job on solo and pvp this expansion. If KOTET adds in new group content that would be awesome. Best case would be what we got with SoR, 2 Flashpoints (of all 3 difficulties) and 2 Ops (with at least SM and HM). * Narratively KotFE really felt centered on Force Using classes. I don't expect that to change going forward. However chunks of content did feel more tailored to other classes. The Agent got several moments of callbacks and Mandalore's Revenge as a Bounty Hunter was amazing. This is a good thing. The return of particular companions can help with this but the content of the chapters really mattered as well. I connected most with Profit and Plunder on my Smuggler character, even though the companions returning weren't for his class. * A big part of the criticisms of the story in KotFE come down to it being not very Dark Side friendly. There were too many area where Dark Side choices seemed to get shut down and the ending basically seem to show the Dark Side choice was the wrong choice. Going forward, I think many players would prefer something closer to the Inquisitor or Warrior chapter 1-3 experience where Light or Dark Side playstyles both work equally as well. * Star War works in trilogies. So I fully expect the game to have two more “Knights of” expansions. KoTET needs to see story progression. Ideally I would like to see most of the Zakuul resolved in KoTET and Valkorian being the focus of the following expansion. The key is to avoid leaving dangling plot threads. We need resolutions of plot hooks mentioned in the various chapters of KotFE (like the Scions for instance) and to see how our choices bear fruit (particularly in Disavowed and Mandalore's Revenge). A big one is for Force users is Visions in the Dark, we need to see where that was going. I'm hoping it was more than we got in the Battle of Odessan. Anyway, overall great job. Keep it coming. One last thing, Ben mentioned on the Bad Feelings podcast (and it has been mentioned elsewhere) that the team does listen to feedback. Some of us have noticed. We appreciate it. I also understand that just because you don't post to every thread on the forums doesn't mean you guys aren't listening.
  4. It was always simple to me. I pronounce KotFE "coffee" like the drink. For that matter I pronounce SWTOR "sweater". I like things easy to say.
  5. I totally get not wanting to do the event. We do tend to get attached to our mains after all. Doing it all over again can be a headache if it's not you thing. However, is the event unreasonable? Not hardly. The outcries of unfairness are kind of silly. As to be out of ideas, let's look at the last year. KotFE is a lot of content. The companions are a rehash, but you have the main story, two pvp maps, and EC. That's definitely the size of a solid expansion. It's more than we got with Makeb. There is a lot to do in the game. I don't think they are out of ideas personally, but I do think they are committed to the idea of using all the created content to full effect. The big glaring issue is of course operations. No question they need to drop a new one or two. Ideally like what we got in SoR: 2 new ops not required for the main story. Galactic Starfighter needs some serious attention as well. I think honestly the way they spaced things out and the reusing of old content really does create the impression we aren't getting much new.
  6. Hey I'm in the veterans camp (did the beta and came back in RotHC). Granted I don't have max level 65 toons on my server. I could go along with that logic if you either lost something you earned or they were taking the old rewards away. We've gotten tons of rewards for leveling those toons, tons of achievements. Bioware is just adding rewards. Nobody looses here. You can skip it if you do not want to bother like most things in game. To give a real world example, a guy hires you to mow his lawn and pays you for it. Later he asks you to do it again and he'll pay you again. He doesn't pay you for mowing his lawn earlier, you got to do it again. That's no more reasonable than what they are doing.
  7. Maybe I'm odd, but the event sounds pretty good. You can do it with one character slot. I grant if you do not have one that it is a bit expensive in credits or you got to pump in cartel coins. I just checked on Ebon Hawk and they are going for 8 million credits. But let's be honest having one free character is not that hard or expensive really. Especially with how easy credits are to come by. If you are full up on a server with max toons, I feel for you. However, I expect you could spare one of them after all the limit is freaking what 40? Getting 8 toons to level 50 with level sync means running them through Chapter 1 at most, if you it right (do all the side missions and heroics). Even if you take your time 1-50 is the best part of the game anyway. You can easily get Light or Dark V in that time. As to the rest, pick one toon and do it all. Easily done in a couple of months. This is seriously easy to do, especially if you been doing swtor awhile. Redoing the crafting bit would have been annoying before assembly component spam but now not even that is a big. Just hit your nodes as you go. So basically for playing the game we get free stuff. It looks like if you do it all it adds up to 85 packs, 5 titles, 1 pet, 3 armor sets, 2 mounts, and a companion. As to this feeling like a punishment, how is adding new achievements and rewards a punishments. It's not we didn't achievements and rewards for what we did before. This is just more. Sorry not buying it. No one is loosing anything. This is adding reward and not giving us legendary players a free pass. We got to earn it like the rest. Edit: Is it a grind? Sure it is and believe it or not I find that refreshing. It feels like a nice dose of mmo elements amid all the story overload KotFE has been. I totally wish it was new content, however, at least it is new rewards for the old content.
  8. The issue honestly was one exchange of dialogue. When anyone tells Shae to finish the fight, that Mandalorian duels are suppose to be to the death, she responds with that it was not a duel and that the character is not a Mando. She says this to Bounty Hunter as well, who was at the time Mandalore's champion and definitely a Mandalorian. If they fixed that's awesome, but when SoR dropped that bit plus not being able to kill Shae was damn annoying and immersion breaking.
  9. Well oversight for sure but I thought I read that Bioware had at least said it was a mistake.
  10. Yeah prolly not going to happen. It would be amazing and really fit with growing your alliance. Hell did they ever fix the Rishi bug where Shae didn't even acknowledge the Hunter as a mandalorian? Hopefully that is at least not an issue this time.
  11. The game is dying crowd seems to miss that by recent numbers SWTOR subscriptions are up by a good margin and it's making a lot of money. It's the 4th biggest mmo in the world. I am not saying SWTOR is perfect. Hell it has loads of issues but it is doing fine.
  12. You know along with saying that the new dashade is not a replacement for Khem, they may have let something slip. He also said that the new deshade was the developers chance "to let everyone have an awesome shadow killer fllowing them around." So does that mean not everyone is going to have a chance to get Khem?
  13. Ok that's an interesting exercise. So let's compare. A couple of caveats, I am just talking KotFE story vs a Class Story (Chapter 1-3). I am not talking about various other aspects of the game. So as of now, how KotFE storytelling stack up? Simply put it's middle road. It's definitely better than the Trooper and Consular stories. I would put it on par with the Smuggler. KotFE is a better story but the Smuggler dialogue & the humor puts it in the same league. It is also about as good as the Bounty Hunter story. The Agent is better by far. The Jedi Knight does as well. Few things scream Star Wars like the Jedi Knight story. The SIth Warrior beats it clearly as well. Now the Inquisitor is an interesting case. As of now, it definitely edges KotFE out. Inquisitor captures the feeling of the rise to power and plays very strong on its themes. However KotFE could catch up and surpass it depending on how the chapters play out.
  14. Well...sorta. See they keep adding nods here and there to Legends like Taris and Rakata Prime showing up in Episode 7 though the visual dictionary if I remember right. The point is they are using what they want and ditching the rest. Rather like Lucas.
  15. On a side note, species is a bit different in Saga. This is due to Saga having tons of species available to players that Swtor won't touch like wookie. There are stats for humans (obviously), chiss, miraluka, togruta, twi'lek, cathar, and zabrak already stated in the game. For cyborgs, being humans with implants, that really easy as well. Purebloods are not statted but Massassi and Kissai actually. Neither are Mirialans or Rattataki. For those three just can just make them funny looking humans or use the near-human rules in Unknown Regions.
  16. 7) Gunslingers/Sniper: Scoundrel is the class that can pull it off easiest. Gunslinger already exists as a PrC. There are tons of shooter talents and feats. Taking cover is definitely a thing in the system already. I am not sure there is something like portable cover, but likely there is something. 8)Soundrel/Operative: Scounrel as a base class definitely would do the trick. There are couple of sneaky based PrCs out like assassin. Stealth fields are around as well. Healing would come from gear like medpacs. To wrap up and sum up, SWTOR is fairly easy to pull off in Saga. If folks are really interested in this, I could do some more digging for specific abilities.
  17. 5) Commando/Mercenary: Soldiers and Elite Trooper will do it with a good selection of gear. There are tons of shooter talents/feats. For Mercs toss in Gunslinger for 2 gun mojo. As to healing side of things like I said self-healing is huge so it is less of a thing but there are some tech based healing in beyond medpacs. 6)Vanguards/Powertechs: SImilar, for tanks there are tons of defensive abilities. The various armor talents help for both and there are tons of Mandalorian talents and gear for Bounty Hunters. Speaking of Bounty Hunters there is the Bounty Hunter PrC.
  18. 3) Sage/Sorcerer: TK Sages are very, very simple as there tons of telekinetic powers and talents to pull from. Lightning Sorcs as much the same. Madness Sorcs are easy with the Dark Healing Field, Hatred, and Fear for instance. Balance are harder because the idea of basically draining hit points is more of a dark side thing. Let me do some checking though. Healers are trickier but can but done. For Sages Vital Transfer is the bread and butter for force based healing. The Force Revive talent is another good for battle res. For Sorcs there is Dark Transfer. I would have do some looking to see is there is more healing/cleansing type abilities. As to class mainly jedi and jedi knight going into Jedi Master. 4)Shadow/Assassin: Force Haze gives you stealth. To pull off the positional fighting either go for Scoundrel and the Misfortune talent tree or there are some talents scattered that pull it off in the Jedi and Sith stuff. If I remember right there are several powers that almost mirror.
  19. Ok as someone who runs a lot of Saga, this is just a matter of talent, feat, Advanced Class, and Prestige Class selection honestly. Considering that SWTOR by way of KOTOR has it's roots in D20 style thinking and Saga is D20 this makes a lot of sense. However there is one gaping hole: healers. Healing in Saga is a bit different than in mmos as most of it is self healing honestly in Saga. But here we go with some broad strokes. 1) Guardians/ Juggernaut: Jedi with Jedi Knight/Sith Apprentice will do most of what you are looking for with things like Block, Deflect. If you want to go for a tank pick up the Shii-Cho and Soresu talents and watch them not get hit very often. There a literally tons of jedi defensive talents to add to give the feel like Force Fortification, Damage Reduction 10, Equilibrium, and so on. For DPS, Especially Vigilence/Vengeance you might toss in Whirlwind Attack to add in the heavy AOE feel. Lightsaber Throw is a good talent choices here as well. For Sith toss in force grip and dark rage maybe to add in some sith feel. With the Stolen Form talent, SIth Apprentice will give you most of what Jedi Knight does. Armor is less of a thing for most characters in Saga so you really don't need it to pull off the feel here. 2) Sentinals/Marauder: Again Jedi with Jedi Knight/Sith Apprentice will do most of the heavy lifting. However avoid the actual two weapon fighting feat chain as it sucks and instead get the double attack and triple attacks feats. Toss in Rapid Strike, Improved Rapid Strike, and the Twin Strike form power and you can pull dervish bit off nicely. Hmm this could go long let me break things up in multiple posts.
  20. Well I am not sure the forums are reflecting what is actually going on in the game honestly. Did it ever? Is SWTOR in a ton of trouble? Depends honestly. Let's see come this fall. I think what comes after KotFE season 1 is going to decide a lot. If they drop new ops along with the new pvp maps, it could do much for the longevity of the game.
  21. "Finally with regards to subscriptions, we launched a major expansion for Star Wars: The Old Republic on Tuesday. Subscribers are up 33% since the expansion was announced, to their highest level since February 2014. We’re optimistic about its continued performance, in terms of both subscribers and free-to-play, in the run up to the first new Star Wars movie in a decade." This from http://files.shareholder.com/downloads/ERTS/1103210826x0x857614/E1F22ABE-39BF-4E30-B15D-9CD066F41334/Q2_FY16_Prepared_Comments.pdf How many stayed? How many left? How much did they spend on the cartel market? I am not sure. However EA would be silly to ditch it now. Changes need to happen after Season 1 is done to be sure. Hell I think we are seeing the possible beginning of them now. How long has it been since we got pvp maps? As I said before SWTOR is alive and well and making money. It is not going anywhere anytime soon.
  22. Indeed which was good business. The fact remains that it meant a large influx in cash at least in the short term. That's the point, cash more than anything keeps mmos going. Did you not understand the context of my post? Some will go or have gone as the shine wears off. With the new pvp maps some olders players will come back. If new ops drop more may come back as well. Basically it comes down to this, the game is making a lot of money from everything reliable seen beyond rumors. Why would EA ditch a good source of money? SWTOR likely has a few years left in it. EA may do something different but the game could easily be very profitable for that long. Let's be clear about one thing. I am not saying all is well with SWTOR. I am just saying the game is obviously making money and therefore not going anywhere anytime soon.
  23. EA released that SWTOR saw a 30% subscriber increase with KotFE. Do you honestly think a game whose numbers jumped like that is going anywhere any time soon? Tack on this is a Star Wars game and it's done by Bioware. Now what you are seeing is some of the folks who played it for years and did just about everything leave because Bioware did not crank out a new op. So yeah it looks bad when old timers leave. I do think you will start seeing some of them back this year. I am actually pretty hopeful. We have been asking for more story for a while and we got it. We have been asking for new PvP maps and we are getting 2. I am this fall or bu Christmas we will see an op or two. Is everything perfect? Of course but still a good game and it is doing fine. Now supposedly there is a project I think I heard EA is working on with another SW game. I doubt it will be a MMO, prolly first person rpg like Skyrim or Fallout 4.

    Apathy

Well also I look at it this way. My sith are looking at the long game. Sure they take a bit of crap now but they are looking to take over the galaxy, to acquire more power. If letting a few bits of insolence gets them what they want, then it is well worth it. Even my Wrath is a plotter. Actually it makes everything so much more delicious. The best of the best of the Republic is giving my sith more power and maybe the key to conquering the galaxy. On the other end of things particularly with Kaliyo it comes down to saving the galaxy from Arcann. Yeah she is bad news but my heroic characters need all the help they can get. In the end that's the point for all the characters, the Alliance is all about working with people you don't necessarily like, doing things you may not want to do. As the Outlander, that's the only hope of winning.
  25. My first run of S&V not only did I get eaten by the bridge boss but I jumped in the sarlacc pit after then hidden datacron.
