  1. A clever insult would be something like: "your cosplay Darth Vader helmet must be cutting off oxygen to your brain." Unfortunately, I'm not that clever. I agree that some of my observations have been flawed and based on incomplete information; and for that, I apologize. For example, I assumed that your dedicated focus on "toughening up" pugs through verbal harassment was based on low self-esteem. However, I then discovered that this tactic is actually based on a dark side philosophy role play, and my point of view changed. Please accept my apology for making an assumption without all the facts at hand. I believe, as do you, that your words speak for themselves. At this point, my only goal in continuing this conversation is to provide a forum for you to speak out. You are unwilling to provide details of your individual performance, nor does there seem to be a groundswell of support for your cause. Therefore, the only means that fellow SWTOR players have of evaluating your philosophy and making critical judgments as to self-fit is to read and interpret your authored posts. This is why I suggested in my last post that you might want to get some supporters writing here as well; certainly some members of your guild can lend support to your vision? Believe it or not, it would thrill me if everyone in SWTOR took the time to read and understand your thinking. There are some who will undoubtedly embrace it, and would seek out your guild as a new home. Just as undoubtedly, there are others who will reject it, especially given the lack of objective evidence that your approach to SWTOR PvP is actually beneficial in improving individual PvP performance. At a minimum, players would have an informed perspective on what PvP would be like in your guild (and on BC in general). So, let's continue the dialog. I'm here as long as you need a foil. Again, a shoutout for my fellow PvPer ZooMzy--he's recruiting for a PvP-RP guild on BC. If you're interested, there's more information here.
  2. NOTICE: Due to feedback from a number of potential participants that they'd be playing Galactic Starfighter on the PTS this weekend, we've decided to postpone this event until December. Thanks to everyone who expressed interest--I will direct message you when we decide on a new date. All: Wanted to invite all (Imps and Pubs) to participate this Saturday (23 Nov @ 6pm - 8pm US CT) in a Battle Royale in the Outlaw's Den on Jedi Covenant. Link to registration and participation instructions to follow on this thread. We're looking to produce an innovative, fun event using the resources that are available within Outlaw's Den. Format should be interesting for those who just want to kill things, and for those interested in objective-based play. Adherence to event rules will be honor-based; if you can't handle that, you can queue for CZ-198 instead. Recommend LvL 154 PvP gear minimum. Unless you like to die...a LOT. Get out the word! UPDATE: Link to registration. Event description in the post below.
  3. Clear overreaction on my part--troll in sheep's clothing.
  4. How about: "there are better ways to achieve your goal"---then actually explaining it to them? We've all done this--it's called "running interference". If one player can keep 2-3 toons pinned on a node, it means you have a numeric advantage on other nodes. Sometimes when you're still undergeared or learning to play, this is the best contribution you can make to objective-based WZs, cause it also forces you to figure out how to live longer. Does it move the conversation forward to mock, when it's a tactic we've all used at some point? Or, were you just born awesome at SWTOR PvP?
  5. I've actually got a website and DNS entry that I reserved last year for a satire website I was going to setup (think a university website version of The Onion), but I never had the time to focus on it. Would be glad to contribute it to the cause.
  6. I'd be happy to get 8 players who could instapop on a consistent basis. At least you could get some practice and get some rapport / trash talk within the group. Honestly, I could care less about ratings presently, since they seem somewhat meaningless at this point. I'm actually rated below people who haven't played a single match.
  7. I don't bear you any ill will, as I don't know you beyond your posts here and elsewhere on this forum. I don't think that you "deserve" anything, good or bad, because that would suggest that I have some right to serve judgement on you. I hope for you to be able to exist at peace with the world, like I would for any person with whom I cross paths. I would agree that no-one appears to be defending you, and from your worldview that must be truly amazing (and rather uncomfortable). My sense of why is more along the lines that your worldview is such a significant departure from conventional wisdom that it's difficult for people to embrace based on the writings of a single individual. Perhaps you have supporters of your cause that you could engage in the discussion, perhaps to offer testimonials that the approach you espouse (i.e., dark side philosophy-based RP) is indeed effective at creating better PvPers. Surely you agree that arguments supported by evidence are more effective than the claims of a single individual. We are all experienced with the use of social media to engage friends and colleagues to get advice on life choices--this seems like the type of decision where someone would appreciate some additional feedback. Again, a shoutout for my fellow PvPer ZooMzy--he's recruiting for a PvP-RP guild on BC. If you're interested, there's more information here.
  8. ZoomZy: feel free to continue to call my observations personal attacks--no worries. The role playing was a little annoying, but it's cute once you get used to it. Truly though, perhaps you can give us a sense of your rank on the leaderboard? Because, while your role play is fun, the entire premise of your argument is that your approach makes better PvP players. Ergo, there should be some evidence to support your claim. Again, looking at the leaderboards (i.e., data), the HIGHEST ranked player on BC is at 122. So, saying you're awesome on BC is sorta like saying you're awesome in the NBA Developmental League. Also, I don't mind continuing to plug your guild. Players should absolutely have the opportunity to align with other players who share their perspective on the game.
  9. Chill guys...it's like . If you're into darkside philosophy, ZooMzy's got a guild that's looking for recruits. Otherwise, there's nothing more to see here. Move on.
  10. Yeah, I know: I was being naively optimistic. Funny story: after 45 minutes of waiting for a pop in solo rwz queue last night, I started offering free nano-infused stims over Fleet chat to anyone who would queue. There were no takers. Telling response: "isn't this when the hardcore players are out?"
  11. Just FYI, you're actually quoting the role player, from here: The kid is in agreement with you--he was just having a problem with the 19th century forum controls.
  12. Great suggestions! We'd need a core of likeminded to manage the guilds across the servers, but it's certainly doable. If cross-server queue ultimately happens before we die (ha!), we'll be in good shape. Otherwise, players have the flexibility to transfer or roll characters on any server knowing there's a guild there that aligns with their PoV. I'm glad to get the ball rolling on JC, since I'm already here.
  13. Ha! My craft is biochem, so I was on Fleet chat, offering to give away nano-infused stims to anyone who would queue solo RWZ. One response was telling: "but this is when all the hardcore teams are playing." I ended up queing for unranked, and got instapops for the next half hour. Crazy.
  14. I have to admit really struggling with this--how can one person become so bitter and isolated that they're the only person representing such an aggressively antisocial viewpoint. Then it struck me--ZooMzy's screed sounded oddly similar to the angry dialog that Anakin agonizes through in Episode 3 (EDIT: and by "agonizes", I mean it was an agony for me to watch:eek:). So, that got me to looking, whereupon I came across this: Dread Masters RP PvP Guild. ZooMzy, you've really had us all going with your roleplay! I just wish you'd DMed me to let me in on the gig--I could have responded more "light side" appropriately. It's obvious you've invested a lot of time building out a dark side specific mental model for your PvP guild. While I'm not into RP, I can see how that might be appealing. In any regard, this is a shoutout for my fellow PvPer ZooMzy. If you find his dark side philosophy appealing, he's got a RP-PvP guild on BC that's recruiting. Strangely, I can only find one of the six toons referenced in your recruitment post on the PvP leaderboard (group or solo), and that one is several pages down. Certainly I must be missing something, since this way of RP thinking is supposed to produce "elite" players? Or, was that statement part of the RP as well? It would certainly be a great marketing tool for your guild if some of the core members were 1st page on the leaderboards--you could have a catchphrase like "evil--it does a body good!"
  15. pewpew with lightsabers = arenas you can select arenas by going solo ranked
  16. Thx for the feedback! Will update to include all servers, and for level.
  17. Sat on the solo RWZ queue for 75+ minutes this evening (starting around 8:00pm CT). Nary a pop.
  18. So, you're saying that this merc healer I'm in the process of leveling should stay in the protective packaging?
  19. This is a mistake that I see a lot of experienced players make (including myself) in Voidstar. I was in defense, in the midst of a 1:1 DPS race, when the door blew. Instead of popping a flash bang and running for the door to re-establish position in the next room, I hung around to finish the opposing player off. While this may benefit you with individual comms, it sucks for your team 'cause you've just respawned that player into the next room without a countdown timer. So, in a sense, you've actually done the other team a really nice favor. Two lessons learned I learned from this; first, if you're in defense when a door blows, disengage and move immediately. Pop flash bangs or stuns if you have them, but your primary responsibility is to re-establish defensive positions. Second, if you're in offense when the door blows and your health is fairly low, go kamikaze. If you can get dead quickly, you can actually end up well in front of the player(s) that killed you.
  20. There's a whole thread dedicated to this battle ("Revenge of the Archon: Too Hard") in the General Discussion forum. Here's my post describing the specific tactics I used as a Sniper. Hopefully there's something you can use.
  21. Like I've said elsewhere, I think 4v4 is only interesting up to the point where teams engage. Once the fighting starts, it's just a DPS race. I think the way to go is with larger maps / teams and more varied objectives. CW is really just a reheat of NC, but they don't suck as objective-based maps. You can do 16-man endgame PvP ops--imagine how interesting it would be to have one 16-man PvE team attempting to capture and hold a large scale fortification. That starts to demand some real strategy and planning from both sides, which is what ultimately makes PvP more than just a deathmatch. Something like a large-scale Commando team trying to take down the Imp base on Oricon, but for commendations instead of just bragging rights. That would be cool. EDIT: To avoid any perception that I'm taking credit for the battle, it actually happened on Bastion earlier this week. Got the link from a friend.
