  1. But only in a 'ghetto' which makes their opinions easy to ignore. Which was your point, was it not? F2P players in SWTOR have access to core MMO play. Limited access, but access nonetheless. And I already stated that the restrictions in CO were less draconian than in SWTOR. Personally I think that BW could ease back on the F2P restrictions a little without cheapening the Sub option. But that isn't the same as calling the current model P2W or anything close.
  2. You must have missed this one: http://co.perfectworld.com/freetoplay The 'limited access' to forums mentioned there means they have a special forum just for F2P players and some limited access to one or two others. No quite the situation that applies here but there are plenty of complaints about it. And yes, I was a subscriber for a time. Come to that, take a look at the restrictions on F2P players. Not quite as draconian as SWTOR but pretty close in terms of impact on gameplay experience.
  3. You were complaining about them 'squeezing' the player base for dollars, and gave the Ewok as an example. If you don't want to be misunderstood maybe you should be clearer when you post. And the money spent on the Ewok is being used to support the game in just the same way as all the other income. BTW, they didn't steal anything from anyone's wallet, least of all mine. People choose what to spend and where.
  4. A couple of posts ago you claimed that they could 'easily' have supported the game just through the CM. Now you complain about something being offered only via the CM? Logic not your strong suite?
  5. Guess you missed the financial info on another thread? SWTOR earnings are up.
  6. SWTOR is a 'succeeding' F2P game, so there goes your argument right off the bat. And Rift has been F2P for far too short a time to tell whether it will be successful or not. Nothing is stopping you from playing one of these superior F2P games BTW.
  7. So go play those games. Your choice. And before you make the argument about driving players away, the flipside is also true. I was a Rift sub for many years and left when they announced FTP as in my opinion they did not offer enough extra to subs. And I wasn't alone. What I didn't do was go on the forum and QQ. It's always a balance. Find a game where the balance suits you. Simples.
  8. So let me get this straight... There are folks who want to get everything a sub gets without paying a sub? And because they can't they say the game is PTW? I've been playing MMO's since they were text only. This is the whiniest, most entitlement-focused online community I have EVER come across. Deary me.
  9. I run it on a business laptop with crappy Intel HD integrated graphics. It works just fine in 'medium' graphics mode. Shorter loading times would be nice but are hardly game breaking.
  10. Interesting. When did you carry out this survey and what method did you use to identify the RL gender of the players? Or maybe you're just talking bullcrap? Insecure much?
  11. Thanks folks. Just filled out the application form. I'll likely be in-game on my Sorc tonight (Usharial) levelling on Tatooine.
  12. I'm running the game on a Win 8 64-bit laptop with I5 processor, 4GB Ram, and integrated Intel graphics. It runs absolutely fine with textures on high but the low res shader and advanced features like bloom, shadows, and anti-aliasing off. Looks pretty good with these settings IMO. I can actually get away with the high res shader and bloom enabled but the FPS is just a little too low for smooth gameplay.
  13. Definitely interested but as a new player I just have a bunch of low-to-mid level alts I'm levelling simultaneously (I enjoy differing playstyles). I do have 3 alts on the Imp side (BH, IA, and Sorc). If I fit your profile I'd like to join up. Oh - and I'm a HUGE B5 fan so your guild name rocks.
  14. I'm a terrible altaholic so I have multiple classes I'm levelling at the same time - Shadow tank, Jedi Sentinel, Sith Sorcerer DPS, Bounty Hunter DPS, Imperial Sniper, Trooper DPS, and Smuggler Gunslinger. All of them are fine to level solo in general content and I play almost exclusively solo due to IRL commitments. The Shadow, however, is Easy Mode now I have my healing companion. She's the only one capable of soloing Heroic 2+ missions (stealth helps a lot) and is fun to play as well. If I had to pick a 'best' solo class this would be it. For enjoyment, the Shadow, Sentinel, Sorcerer and Bounty Hunter are the most fun IMO. Sniper has a great story but being a turret is less fun gameplay wise. Smuggler and Trooper are now 'parked' as I couldn't really get into the story as much.
  15. Can't we just have a single consolidated whining thread? TBH having all these multiple exercises in misguided self-pity clogging up the forum is a PITA. Maybe a whiners-only board? There seem to be plenty enough of them to keep one ticking over nicely.
  16. There may very well be some legitimate concerns about the direction of the game and the balance between CM development and core content development. But the vast majority of threads on here are just QQ about entitlement issues. Plain and simple. The fact is that subs alone were not enough to keep SWTOR alive. Many other MMOs have gone the same way. Generating the cash to keep the game running requires both subs and people buying stuff in the store. Store content gets old faster than game content - that's just the way it is. It's also simpler/faster/cheaper to develop. So you're always going to see a faster rate of update on store content than game content. You see the same complaints on all other games that use the same model. And ATEOTD nobody forces anyone to buy CM content. Most of the stuff on there is pure fluff with a little QOL thrown in. None of it essential - not even the Cathar and the appearance change.
  17. Do you have access to Cathar? Yes. Do you have access to the remodelling booth? Yes. Did you get charged extra for this access? No. Because the CC you get every month is enough for access to these features. Case closed.
  18. Wow. And I thought that the Rift forums were whiny. I started SWTOR a few weeks ago as FTP and quickly moved to subscribing because IMO the benefits are worth it. I've bought a few things from the CC for QOL and did blow some cash on changing species on one character but those were my decisions and I could have played the game just fine without doing any of it. If I want a Cathar I'll just spend the monthly CC stipend on it and I will have effectively got it for free just because I'm a sub. Threads like this are a LOL fest. Some people need to grow up.
