  1. Agreed OP. It costs too much req to upgrade components considering that ships aren't legacy items.
  2. Gunships should be useless when focused on to make up for their complete dominance when at range. Even with all the current changes a decent gunship can easily lead the match in both stats and effectiveness. Don't know why all the crying. You guys aren't being "deleted" as Verain likes to argue. It's just your god-mode is being deactivated. Next on the chopping block should be BLCs closely followed by seismic/interdiction shield penetration. Then a few buffs to the really weak components/skills and all will be right with the world.
  3. Wish you the best Armonddd.
  4. Sounds very dangerous. Can't beat it at range but close in and get nerfed then blasted with burst laser noob-cannons.
  5. Yeah that was pretty much the way it went. I just got so frustrated because I haven't been shut down that hard since I started out way back in early release. 16k damage and 1 kill and I led my team.
  6. Very nice changes for sure. It'll be fun testing out the new emp range.
  7. You are right. I advocate teamwork all the time. I don't usually have a problem with gunships. Only when they ruin my ability to have a good dogfight.
  8. Or your team is getting overwhelmed and you never get a clean run at the guy.
  9. I don't have problems killing gunships but thank you everyone for l2p comments. I especially like everyone that assumed I'm just some lousy strike pilot. While I do advocate for strikes quite a bit since they are really great ships and so many people don't understand their strengths, I'm also an accomplished scout pilot and love all three variants. I tend to stay away from the FOTM build and BLCs because I find them cheap. I realize that I wasn't very clear in my originial post but what I was trying to speack about was stacking gunships and the ease with which two or more good gunship pilots can dominate a match. In this particular match, every time I approached one gunship his partner would blast me. And there were two good scouts in FOTM builds as well as a good strike pilot. I was never able to dogfight them, and I really wanted to, because of the annoying gunships. I was never able to touch the gunships because they were covering each other well and the there was always at least one other scout or strike on my tail to finish me if the gunships couldn't. I also later admitted that I was just venting because i got my butt handed to me due to overwhelming odds. My team sucked. I'm used to getting 10+ kills per match and average around 50-60k damage when there is decent competition. In this particular match i was held to 1 kill and 2 assists and 16k damage. So really, my team sucked, I sucked, and my ego took a big blow. I'll live. It didn't help me any that I saw GSF was taken off the roadmap so there's a strong possibility that we won't see any more real development for the game which really ruined my night. So again, thanks everyone for the responses. I know most were meant to sincerely help. I apologize for my crying and for the record I do think gunships are cheesy and should die quick painful deaths whenever possible.
  10. I know I didn't specify but I was talking about TDM which is definitely not bomber dominated.
  11. Just venting after a couple of bad rounds. Yes I know how to approach and kill gunships. Yes I have flown against scrab. Yes, I understand anyone can put up those numbers in any ship given the right circumstances, aka crappy opponents. And YES MY TEAM SUCKED! However, I'm not a bad pilot and can usually put some serious pressure on ace gunships even with a few tails on me but when two good gunships are covering each other they are exponentially harder to take down. I do think gunships are out of balance. When all things are equal, assuming equally skilled pilots with upgraded ships, gunships tend to dominate matches and fare better than anyone else. They should be in my opinion, a LOT squishier at close range if they are going to be COMPLETELY dominant at range. Not that any of this matters. GSF is off the road map. Done ranting. Sorry, move along, nothing to see here.
  12. Two gunships shouldn't be able to dominate an entire match by themselves. Now that more people are learning how to use this class they are becoming more and more out of focus and completely unbalanced. You guys think you're cute going 20 kills and 2 deaths and for some reason think that's ok. Really, its because you're just that good...i promise you that's what it is. It has nothing to do with the class being unbalanced.
  13. Hugely disappointed. I don't much care for the ground game as it's just repetitive. Stories are the only reason to play it. GSF is actually a really fun action game that has so much more potential. I'm sad to say but I doubt it will realize its potential now.
  14. Please keep developing Starfighter. With a few more maps and another game mode you'd have a complete standalone game that is more interesting and fun than any other action game on the market. Moving away from further development of this piece is really disappointing. At least give us what you said you would on the roadmap. REALLY feeling cheated right now.
  15. I love that people can now play barbie in their new dollhouses but what happened to expanding GSF and adding the new ship class that was talked about on the road map. GSF is the most exciting and dynamic element of swtor and I'd be rather disappointed if it doesn't get any more development. A few more maps and another game mode and you've got a full standalone game that is more exciting than most action games currently on the market. Leveling characters in swtor is fun because of story, but it's basically easy mode and very little of the content actually adds any challenge or the need for using advanced tactics. Its basically learn a rotation and do that a million times until every mob is dead. That's ok for a while but starfighter is actually fun and dynamic. The tactics have much depth and every match has the potential to hold new surprises as you face different opponents with different playstyles. Please keep developing Starfighter.
  16. Well that's a pretty criptic comment and gives us very little information to go on. Are we getting more content with 2.8 or what?
  17. i find i like keeping directional shielding neutral until i take some damage. Most often that means I'm jousting or have someone on my tail. Being able to switch to rear is a very good thing in either situation, either as i pass the jouster or the moment I realize I'm being tailed. Boost away and then turn while moving shields forward. As soon as you're out of the fire you put them back all around. Using them in that way has been very successful and I rarely wish for something different. EDIT: Getting a little more on topic, my hope is that they do reduce the burst damage of BLCs and Slugs. I'd also like to see the shield piercing on seismic and interdiction mines drastically reduced or removed even if that means a buff to their damage.
  18. This is a bad misconception. Strikes can in fact hold their own with any other class and as has been stated can be built out to be multi-purpose or designed for more specific duties. There are very few scout pilots that I can't handle in any of my strikes 1 v 1. The Starguard and the Pike are both very formidable offensive platforms. The Clarion I really prefer as a close support ship. I like to follow my teammates and continuously buff shields and repair as they come off cooldown. I try and not get engaged in my own dogfights but instead I try to really focus on being a wingman and focusing on my teammates targets or acting as a decoy. In dogfight heavy matches having a Clarion gives a distinct advantage to your team assuming you have one or two other good dogfighters.
  19. I have thankfully never seen that. My question to you is why couldn't you barrell roll/boost away from the spawn?
  20. I hate reaching for function keys and power management is so critical I remapped them to the number keys (1-4) for quick access. To each his own. Number one tip for new pilots. Get to know the friendly vets on your server and ask questions. There are a lot of folks who want to help people and very few people ever ask for help. Most vets could shorten your learning curve exponentially with the advice they can give.
  21. Seriously. Even with HLCs that would be near impossible especially with that high a kill count.
  22. I actually think drones are fairly well balanced. I could see a slight downward tweak to dps by about 5-10% but otherwise I think they're fine the way they are. They should always be your first priority when they're deployed against you and they pop quite easily. In a strike they are little more than an annoyance. In a scout they are dangerous but easily dispatched.
  23. I've had plenty of matches where my team was severely outmatched and going to lose and I still had fun. You don't need a group and you certainly don't have to win every match to have fun. I like being the underdog. That guy who won't quit. Whatever happened to pride and honor?
  24. Lordcannonhawk is a true trooper.
