  1. perhaps the republic agent could be a Spy ? I would like a sith/imperial trooper as they just look rocking (the black talon guards look ace!). Wouldn't the Jedi be against hiring bounty hunters as the war is "their" war and they are the upholders of the republic?
  2. The fact that you are asking for advice means you will be fine.
  3. Mine all seem silly, BUT.... First encountering Banthas. Tauntauns (pre-mount) and having to fight my first RANCOR!! woo hoo!! Meeting Blizz and discovering he was joining my Merc's crew! Dream Caverns on Voss... nice and creepy Recieving HK-51. A LOT of effort rewarded Seeing my first ship (and to be honest the excitement doesn't dissipate from toon to toon!
  4. get the PVP weekly and daily: do them. Recieve appx 500 comms, trade in 40 pvp for 1 planetary (12 comms total). Do as many normal quests and class quests as possible. Do flashpoints. Do heroics (look out for people saying "LFG Heroic 2..." etc and whisper them for an invite). You can farm comms quite quickly and don't forget they often drop from random mobs too!
  5. This depends entirely on your class and role (tank/heal etc). You can get good endgame gear with basic comms fromm hardmode flashpoints (quickly) or you can do loads and loads of (perfectly soloable) dailies which will also give you comms to spend on gear. You may find that if you are not keen on grouping, you can only comfortably complete several of the dailies (there are heroics and flashpoints and ops included on the worlds too), but just pick what you're happy with and grind them out. You'll get gear, rep and you'll get rich!! If i have little time I do: Oricon (everything apart from the heroic and operation) Black Hole (all except Heroic) Section X ( all of it. It's worth doing the weekly including the heroic!) Cz-198 : all of them, and I queue for the super quick, super easy, super fun flashpoints while i work. You should be able to complete all the above in around 2 hours or so, perhaps less. The questline for oricon also nets you almost an entire set of purple 55 gear, and the FP's on CZ-198 give you high level orange gear (rip out all the mods from it). Hope this all makes sense.
  6. You can only really solo a flashpoint or a heroic 2 or 4 when you are a higher level than it (I'm sure some players will say they can, but I can't). The dailies can be found in the following places: Voss: in the cantina, you will pick up the weekly and then you must travel around for the heroics Corellia : The black hole : it's an option from the shuttle (I could be wrong about this) Belsavis : Sextion X: Again, it's an option from the shuttle in the orbital station Cz-198 : upon landing there is a console near the shuttle. Makeb: There are LOADS and LOADS of daily missions on this planet! Oricon: Fly there and grab some dailies and get some very neat gear! I'm no expert, so I am probably wrong about some of this and have probably left something out, but I thoroughly recommend visiting Black Hole, Oricon and CZ-198 for some really fun quick missions and LOADS of commendations!!!
  7. I can't recall ever being prompted, I thought it was an automatic random assignment lol. Mine is Daal, and to be honest I think that's allright...
  8. I think it might be cool if preferred (or F2P) had acess to the newcomer section , purely as it is sometimes confusing to figure out gear/mods/skill trees etc and because questions on /general are often met with ridicule and hostility which could result in a F2P not proceeding to subscribe?
  9. So far i only have Mako and Torian unlocked in my legacy. For the others I assumed it was unlocked by getting max affection, but on the pane it says "need to have every conversation and mission complete". Does this mean that if I haven't used Skadge at a point where I maybe was supposed to I can never unlock his legacy buff?
  10. I find that levelling in "a straight line" using only class quest, pvp, fp's and space combat leaves my characters (and especially their companions) a little low on gear and if that happens, you will really struggle on makeb. You can purchase the xp boosts, valor boosts and flashpoint/exploration boosts on the GTN, but if you've skipped the content and crew skills etc you won't necessarily have the money to buy them.
  11. it's often a good idea to meet up with a well geared merc or powertech who is using mako or a sorceror healer who is using Khem Val on imp side. Basically just keep stopping and healing up ion between packs and you should be fine at appropriate level if you've kept your gear up to date.
  12. In my understanding you "need" on anything your character will benefit from, be it a schematic, a piece of gear, a mod or a rep item. "Greed" means you're not bothered either way, and you would select "pass" if you are capped. This makes life simple for me.
  13. Nah... look at the responses to people who play WoW on in-game chat. That's laughed at here. Also ... who cares? If you enjoy this game, play it. That is all.
  14. I have learned to leave modding until level 50-55 as it's quite difficult keeping up to stats level -by - level (changing out all your mods every 2 levels or so!).
  15. seriously thanks for all of the input here. I am currently building a site so we have a calendar and yeah with regards to burning out, I am gonna take it slow with the events and concentrate more on advice and support . I am hopeful that the players knowing they are not alone in being brand new will be a big positive to begin with. Regarding officers, I am aware there's a big trust thing and the other thiing I am gonna do is eject any member that has not been active for a month. It's turning out to not be too hard work at the moment, but I am not trying to "force" it and letting it turn into whatever it's destined to be. A bunch of new sub 30's have defeated TWO world bosses though and all have matrix shards and datacrons already, so hopefully will be encouraged to explore this wonderful game and eschew the "fast track " to 55 as the mantra here is "there is no rush".
  16. Black Sunshine is a brand new guild created specifically for players who are brand new to the game or returning after a long period of absence. Formed because I got a lot of flame on chat when I first started out, we are intent on helping new players to find out what to do/where to go/ how to do it and get them accustomed to being in a group and learning roles without fear of wiping/being kicked. "You are not noobs, only pros just starting out." shall be our motto. To enquire, please message Millarakk, Salani'Dir or Chia'Taar ingame. Have fun!
  17. well to be honest, the idea is to be a levelling/learning/social guild and we will kind of act as a "feeder" guild to the Ops/ end content guild I just came from. I agree with the comment about "choose what we want to be" and I think i will look at that this weekend, as well as apportioning roles and responsibilities out to the officers over the weekend (I will ask the officers what they enjoy most and let em mentor in that!). I think that the purpose of the guild really is to give new players a "safe" place to go to discuss in -game and get advice and tips etc without being "exposed" to general chat and flame-haters and elitists, so i understand I will probably be creating a "stop -gap" guild until the players decide that they prefer PVP/GSF, Ops etc and wil only end up with long term members who have become friends and enjoy a laugh. It would be immense if i could begin with a core of low level new players and progress all of us thru to 55 content, but I'm more of a realist to expect this! Thanks for all the comments, they help as I am a bit of a noob myself!
  18. At 7pm last night I created a new guild designed for brand new starter players and had 32 members by 9pm. I then spent the rest of the night running round helping the guys individually. Now I have a few ideas of guild activities that would benefit brand new players, and I will list them here and hope you guys may have ideas for more things we can do as a group: 1: Datacron tours> twice a week run all the interested players through Korriban, Hutta and DK to grab all crons and shards, then take em to Dark Temple and explain how to assemble shards. 2: Social runs: Boosting through early FP's and HC's (using a level specific tank alt) to advise on how social points work, help them to gear, and get them used to roles and pull management. 3: World bosses: Just for fun, introducing some "high end" content to the guildies very early on. 4: Crafting runs: Running FP's, HC's and zomes specifically to farm mats for crafting to encourage crew skills and crafting then use the guild bank so all can benefit. I would appreciate any help. And if anyone would like to help out with the guild (ansering questions, and helping to do the above), then we are Black Sunshine on the Red Eclipse server. Thanks all.
  19. I have noticed this.On a single elite/boss I ordinarily pop TM x 3, unload, Heatseeker, Railshot and then bubble, kolto overload and vent, but I am no longer getting as far as kolto for some reason lol
  20. Even the guild recruitment spam can be fun. I started my new guild last night (designed for brand new players to seek help , advice and groups without being shot down in /general) and we said things like "Join Black Sunshine: Trinket and baubles will be yours" and "Black Sunshine recruiting brand new players now: the only guild that can guarantee permanent chest hair" . Of course this was then followed by a stream of completely silly guild spams that were hilarious!
