  1. To complete any level, you have to complete all previous levels. You don't necessarily have to complete all individual tasks in any specific order. So, you could get the Stronghold long before you need it to complete Valiant level for example.
  2. It is a book on a computer console in the GEMINI ship. The map of the area is is titled "BattleCruiser: Command Deck" Map should show a central corridor (with a separation in the middle) with additional rooms branching off above and below. The device is in the third branch from the left above the central corridor; you enter the area and look for a computer console on the left. The player co-ordinates are: -210, -208 if you bring up the map, jump in place using the spacebar and look at the top left of the map. Why did I bother with providing such detailed answer at such late hour? I spent a lot of time looking for it, both in the game and online.
  3. Thank you. Any suggestions on the other question?
  4. Update: Added a needed space in title and a third question I'm taking my first character through KOTFE; I have held off doing this for a long time even though I've been a subscriber. He is a level 65 Jedi Knight at Light V wearing augmented purple 208 gear in all slots. Melee DPS with 110% accuracy. The character did not kneel or take the offered help on any occasion. He used gifts and conversation to raise influence with Lana Beniko to 20. I'm a casual+ player which is to say I don't stand in red circles, I do know my characters skills (and when and how to use them - broadly speaking) and I can interrupt. I have reached Chapter IX of KOTFE. At this point: 1. There seem to several things I can or should do like the following. I'd appreciate any additions to this list: Alliance crates and influence with the specialists Recruitment Star Fortress 2. How important is it to do any of these? Can I just plow through the KOTFE chapters to conclusion without stopping to do these tasks? 3. I'd like to play with Lana as companion to the extent possible. Does it make sense to raise influence with her further (beyond the current 20) or should I increase influence with other companions? I'd appreciate any links related to these questions as well (I know about Dulfy).
  5. I'm replaying the Smuggler character. As an almost totally profit-motivated ruffian who's not into bad behavior just for bad behavior's sake.
  6. Rested XP is not used during this time, though. I see 1,894 hours remaining which seems to work out to the end of Double XP being on Dec 28 where as KOTET is supposed to be generally available on Dec 2.
  7. Those secondary windows stay entirely within the borders of the main game window.
  8. I don't want to generalize and what I'm relating is anecdotal. I've been in both kinds of situations as a DPS. One where the healer didn't know their job and a companion (influence 15+) was better and one where a human healer was significantly better. A variation of the argument can be made about tanks too. It depends on the people involved and I have a bias towards human healers. But the simplification of the base game and the hard-to-fail nature of the class story fights has led to a proliferation of level 65s with inadequate understanding of their classes and their roles. DPS specifications can slide but Tanks and Healers will standout if they're underprepared for their roles in group activities.
  9. Thank you all. Here is the workaround; I can't call this a solution. After trying several different approaches, I finally uninstalled the game and deleted the game folder. I was tempted to cancel subscription and forget about it all :-) But I reinstalled it from the DVDs. Then the first launch of the game spent several hours downloading an additional 18 GB of content. The game is launching and running OK now. The preferences, QuickBars, UI etc. needed to be redone, obviously.
  10. Thank you for the multiple suggestions. I tried disabling UAC based on your suggestion. I had been restarting the PC between attempts to start the launcher.exe, so it effectively executed the suggestion number 2 Tried based on your suggestion but the launcher.exe exhibited the same old behavior (it is in the Task Manager processes list, but did not do anything) Based on your suggestion I tried this: Chose a different folder as destination for repair utility. The launcher came up (along with something called BitRaider(!)), quickly expanded some files and started downloading what seemed like the whole game; so, I cancelled it. Tried repair utility again and chose the same folder as the original game folder; it quickly expanded some files but the launcher.exe exhibited the same old behavior (it is in the Task Manager processes list, but did not do anything) When none of the above worked, I uninstalled the game and reinstalled from the original Amazon DVDs. It went through smoothly. Now the (old) launcher comes up but when I enter the email and password, it says "Server not responding."
  11. Thanks for the quick reply. I saw that page previously; it is the main support site. Is there a forum or email form there to send the issue?
  12. I have been playing SWTOR for a few years. I last played earlier today. For several hours now, the game won't even start. Windows asks if I'm sure I want to run the program (User Access Control); I say "Yes" and nothing happens. The "launcher.exe" is in the list of Task Manager processes but it doesn't do anything; no CPU usage, no disk IO, nothing. I repeated this several times, restarting the PC twice even. One of the times I waited 20 minutes for something to happen. Nothing. Is this a known issue with a known solution? Any ideas?
  13. Best pun I've heard in a long time. Genius. I'm stealing it; don't know if I'll ever get to use it, but I'm stealing it.
  14. Can a subscriber use a referral link of some other subscriber to get a free character transfer?
  15. Is there some way to UpVote/Recommend a post around here?
  16. I see a Medical Services droid inside the camp but no speeder. The Republic Transport Services droids next door are offering connections only to "Axial Park", "Republic Base" or "Uptown". I suspect I need to go to "Incorporation Islands"? Update: Saw the speeder. "Incorporation Islands" is wrong. It is "Labor Valley" which is a separate area and appears on map only after reaching it. Thank you.
  17. I watched the News segment on the Republic fleet and completed the missions two days ago. Now I can't seem to get the mission again. When I click the News hoverbot, it first tells me I have done this recently before showing the news segment; afterwards, I don't get the mission. Going to Corellia directly, I can get the daily mission from the datapad but Tralie Masoon (Republic) in Blastfield Shipyards won't give me the main mission to go to the tunnels; only expresses surprise that I'm still alive. I don't see a way to go The Spike directly. Any ideas on what I should be doing?
