  1. Lag mostly when it happens to you its like the ships controls freeze up and no matter what you do you cant control anything then BOOM you either SD or teleport or blow up from something that hit you but because of the lag it took forever to register the hit. looking at someone else its like theyre teleporting all over or flying sideways or something crazy
  2. No new Zakuul ships or the like at the moment . everythings either fleet cred or whats in the cartel market
  3. Well a good old fashioned strike fighter nowadays is a solid choice especially since you can try to stay at range and use missiles to defend teammates who are in the middle of the furball. A T2 strike is even more useful for this due to having 2 missile types A t3 strike can have healing probes with ammo which is always useful in any match type Bombers are useful for area denial especially on Dom matches where holding sats is essential to win Gunships can clear mine laden sats and again support teammates in dogfights with ion bursts. Mainly though If you're uncomfortable dog fighting the big key is on Domination matches. Get to a Satellite ANY Satellite and STAY there. Bodies on Sats is one of the most difficult things ive found to teach newer pilots. they see an enemy and chase after them, whats worse is if that enemy is a vet who knows he has help heading to the sat the rookie just left he will lead the rookie on a merry chase while his teammates clean up and take the sat the rookies no longer defending, then he can kill the pilot at their leisure. Stay on Sats it doesn't matter if the enemy pilot runs away that's actually a good thing it helps you more then him. Also call out for help in ops chat. say enemy inc to A or B or C or whichever and how many, keep your team informed as to the status of the sat youre on. B clear, B 2 incoming etc etc Communication is one of the most important aspects of GSF that gets lost sometimes. letting your team know that you are heading to a certain sat or a specific grid box on a TDM map. on a TDM map the best you can do for your team is STAY ALIVE. I know its a bit of a duh comment but youd be surprised how many people keep throwing themselves into the jaws of death or engaging people WAY out of their league when they should be staying with the group and protecting their wing man. GSF is very much a team game. work with your teammates to aid them where needed and you will be fine.
  4. As a vet whose been on both sides of that equation I always try to help people when possible or asked. Have you joined the gsf channel? I can be found there as can other aces who are always willing to answer questions. type /cjoin gsf Drakolich has an ask anything thread here on the forums, and a youtube channel that shows individual matches. Despon runs a GSF school on Youtube that has great information for newer pilots. All told yes matchmaker is a mess right now but theres plenty of mentors available and resources for newer pilots to use and learn from.
  5. SF I cant say has the higher population but it almost certainly has a population that ques more in regards to GSF. Pops are more frequent and matches can skew one way or the other pretty quickly. SS has a higher population having absorbed Harbinger which was always the heaviest pop of the servers but its GSF que is a bit slower as GSF seems to not quite be as popular there. Still when SS does pop the matches can be fast and furious in both scope and intensity. in total id agree with Drako go SF if you want consistent pops SS if you want less frequent pops but matches that can be crazy from one match to the next Having characters on both my self I can also agree have a character there and you get the best of both servers
  6. Adding in that I cant log in at all as well. Says login server isn't available
  7. Its possible you might have hit a combination of controls shift Z or alt Z or Cont Z maybe one of those combos allows you to access the UI but if its held too long it can basicllly leave you frozen and flying in a straight line till you undo it.
  8. yeah people tend to forget beacons launch the way the pilot is facing so if the launch window is facing an obstacle you crash pretty quick
  9. Sounds like someone flying outside the map boundaries. those are exhaustion zones further out you go you get stacking debuff up to 5 stacks then go boom
  10. Heh Missed being in that match by one pop. Some good flying and shooting glad to offer any assistance I can as well.
  11. No worries just wanted to make sure you knew there might be an issue on the other side too. Like I said trying to watch it was rough but ive seen Twitch be ""twitchy"" lately s who knows if the issues are related,
  12. May have just been twitch acting funny but when I went to watch it the stream was choppy as hell I had to refresh 3 times just to get to the end of the vid
  13. Im not the most experienced Op player but ive done a few here and there and they generally follow some basic need to knows. 1: Gearing. Your gear should be at bare minimum full 230 purple with mk 10 augments in every slot. 236 golds would be better but because of bolster the 230 purple will get you through most story mode ops satisfactorily. For hard mode or Nightmare mode Ops you will need at bare minimum 242 gear or higher fully augmented to even compete on DPS or especially as heals where a failure to contribute during several boss fights crunch times can end with a team wipe 2: Rotation. Rotation Rotation Rotation, To regularly perform in Operations you MUST know your rotation of abilities to maximize your damage and or healing. an Operation isn't like a FP where you can just spam out heals or basic attacks. you NEED to know precisely when and how to apply your healing abilities or damage abilities for maximum effect to avoid boss enrage timers, heal through damage spikes and burn down bosses in the burn phase of the fights Dulfy has several solid guides on proper gearing and rotations I highly recommend her page for this. 3: What do my abilities do? A sort fo add on to the above. The reason a lot of players tend to spam abilities is because they don't understand what they do very well and how theyre meant to interact with their other abilities in the rotation along with the procs and talents and utilities they choose. Learning what each ability does is crucial to success in Ops 4: Do your homework. Look on youtube and here on the forums and on Dulfy for guides to each operation you want to join Spend time studying each boss fight so you can learn the mechanics of each fight. many boss fights have multiple mechanics and layers to them which you need to be aware of. knowing these mechanics is the difference between a successful fight and a full team wipe. 5: learn the lingo. Know what each of the terms ive used above means, its helpful so you know what people are talking about. in an op and can adjust your performance appropriately examples: 1: Spike, A period of time usually in a boss fight where the bosses damage SPIKEs or goes up on one target or on the raid via a mechanic or ability 2: Tank swap, a mechanics from a boss or fight causes the tank to need to drop agro and switch to an offtank so the heals can top the tank off who then retakes agro 3: Crunch times: also known as Burn phases or the like. Moments in a boss fight where the team blows their cooldowns and just throws everything they have damage wise at the boss in an attempt to burn it down before it enrages or unleashes a teamwise kill move. 4: Enrage timer. pretty self explanatory a time limit on a boss where if the team does not kill it fast enough the boss enrages gaining a massive damage buff which quickly swamps the healers abilitiy to heal the Op through the fight usually resulting in a team wipe. those are just some of the lingo Ops use theres more and its helpful to learn it. 5: Know your roles. This might seem some what self explanatory but its amazing how often ive seen players forget their basics. The tanks job is to front line the fight keeping the bosses agro on them, the off tank is there to handle extra adds and to swap out with the Main tank as needed DPS is exactly that they're there to BURN the boss at all costs. Some DPS can and should act as spot heals when needed but only in an emergency and only as needed to aid the main healers easing their job healers; Main job is to keep everyone alive prioritizing the tanks first then them selves, then the DPS as needed. A good healer does triage during a fight, if the tank goes down then the heals are going to go down shortly after due to healing being a higher agro then DPS in many cases. However some DPS can rapidly outstrip the Tanks agro wise and may need a brief burst of healing to save them as the tank gets agro back. Furthermore DPS are vital to every boss fight because if they go down the damage falls off and a boss might enrage. Knowing your role and how it intereacts with a specific boss fight is vital to the success of an OP. that's all I can think of off the top of my head, some more experienced Ops players may and probably will have much more in depth advice for you. Good luck with your Ops.
  14. Don't have all the letters sadly but heres a list of the comp letters post KOTFE http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=843430 and this gentleman wrote a few fan letters non canon of course http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=849986 And this thread looks to be the list of companion letters you seek. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=280252&page=4
  15. Theres no reason to spend a single CC on GSF at all. Ive got one character at near max lvl from nothing but GSF, and I have 4 characters at max 248 full gear doing only gsf and some base pve content. GSF is also still one of the best money makers in the game and one of the easiest exp makers as well
  16. Actually Id like that, it sounds like a lot of fun especially if we get to play as Lana making the choices of dialogue. And if we get some 5 year timeskips showing the companions and playing as them as well thatd be all sorts of fun getting some fully voiced scenes with the VOs telling their stories maybe to the outlander as to what happened to them in that time frame
  17. I'm of the opposite tack. show them the same courtesy you want shown to you, recruit as you will of course but if they ask politely give them some space maybe return at a later time to do so, Courtesy costs you nothing
  18. For me the Chiss remind me of Imperial Japan pre WW2. An advanced Isolationist culture that tthanks to little outside interference considers itself rightly in some ways superior to others. Individuals vary as others here have said but for the most part the Chiss even individually hold strong loyalty to the ascendancy first, their clan/house second, and other loyalties third.
  19. Well this is by no means comprehensive or necessarily accurate but to my knowledge the main chapters are a year to a year and a half as I recall. Ilum makeb and oricon take a year total between them and SOR/ return of the emperor is a year or so give or take. So 4 years give or take, with KOTFE a 5 year gap plus a year from chapter 1-9 so 10 total plus a year for KOTET so 11 total years rough estimate Vette 19 at start 29-30 as of current Quinn 24-26 start 35-37 cuirrent Broomark unknown age Jaesa 18-19 start 29-30 current Pierce 30-32 start 41-43 current Kira 20-21 start 31-32 current T7 NA hundred or more years old per story Scourge 300+ years old Doc 30+ start 40+ as of current Rusk 30-45 current Nadia 17-19 at start 28-30 years old current Felix irresso 28-30 as of start 39-41 as of current Theran 28-30 as of start 39-41 as of current Zenith 28-30 as of start 39-41 as of current Quyzen 70-80s as of start trandoshan aging Andronikus 32-34 start 43-45 as of current Azshara 18-19 start 29-30 as of current Khem unknown presumed at least 1000+ years old Xalek 21-23 start 32-34 as of current Talos Drelik 28-32 start 39-43 as of current Corso 20-22 start 31-33 as of current Risha 20-22 start 31-33 as of current Bowdar 100-150+ years old Guss 26-28 start 37-39 current Akaavi 24-26 start 35-37 as of current Mako 18-19 start 29-30 as of current Torian 19-20 start 30-31 as of current Skadge unknown 30-40+ Blizz unknown 20-30+ give or take Gault 40-50+ as of start 50-60+ as of current Aric 28-30+ as of start 39-41 current Elara 22-24 at start 33-35 as of current Mi-4x NA Tanno Vik 30+ as of start 40+ as of current Yuun unknown Kaliyo 24-26 give or take at start 35-37 as of current Vector 26-28 as of start 37-39 as of current unknown how joining affects aging process Raina 20-21 as of start 31-32 as of current Lokin 50-55+ as of start 61-67 as of current aging process may have been affected by Rak transformation Scorpio NA couple hundred + years easy take with a grain of salt those are my rough gestimations someone put an actual timeline together here on the forums but I cant recall the link to it.
  20. I wonder if an Underdog mechanic might not be the solution to what ails us. Basically at a certain point of score disparity like -10-15 and then a second stage -20-25 or similar on DOM marches a sort of in our most desperate hour thing kicks in giving the losing team a sight buff equal to all 4 power ups not much maybe a couple percentage points worth of boost compared to the standard power up but still a bit of a boost to really amp up the competition. so if a DO boosts damage like 50% just for comparison purposes then the under dog mechanic rank 1 is a small 5% boost to damage, while the yellow gives a refill of ammo and boosts weapons power pool by a 5% or so margin and so on and so forth. then the second tier boosts further maybe by 7-10% really ramping up how desperately the losing team is fighting harder and harder against their seemingly unbeatable foe. these are just place holder numbers FYI not going to deep into specifics or the larger math but that might be a solution that benefits everyone.
  21. Empire does win frequently actually. Had a tough run last night but when we get our act together we roll pretty good.
  22. Torps cant be broken by DF anymore. DF can only break the initial lock, it can no longer break a missile once launched
  23.
