  1. Noob question, I created a Operative Medicine tree char. and I'm trying to give him a sniper rifle I got from a cartel pack. When I try to equip him I get "lack of skill" to use the weapon. The weapon says it requires level 1 Sniper Rifle. My char is leavel 47 now. Not sure what I'm doing wrong or what I need to do to level his up. Any tips? Thx
  2. Sounds Great! I'm hoping to get PVP and PVE missions. Everything you said also sparked my imagination and the countless obstacles needed to overcome them all; to have them all. I hope the space game really kicks off and fulfills many of our wild addictions and fantasies.
  3. Thanks for this guide.....very helpful to better understand my role as a power-tech tank Are you guys aware of any articles that help you understand more of the ops interface while in real time mode? For example, on how to be able to monitor aggro, threat, and overall stats of the team via the GUI, besides just using your eyes. Not sure if there are icons, bars, or even colors that help identify what is happening. Some battles can get messy.
  4. I notice the color change too. Looks nicer, thx. Reading this article makes me feel Bioware is also struggling with Gamma color space as many other film studios do.
  5. Yea, too hard is not fun. I don't enjoy playing the space missions much. They become clicking mayhem and perfect timing eccentric.
  6. [The free gifts are nice so I can't complain, but nothing there that I won't care for after a few times of usage or after the first day. The 5 Day free pass means nothing to me as I can only play on the weekends. There should be better rewards for the committed player like me. I'm a subscriber and still only play on weekends. I should be a free to play player. Where is my reward for my commitment. Puff Puff give. I'm putting my money on the content, hope that goes well.]
  7. Awesome this info is very helpful! I'm currently a BH Powertech\Defence level 41. My attentions was to survive and not die so shields made sense. But it appears that my choices made me a tank which was not intentional but I fully understand my role now. With all this gear and not a good explanation from Bio makes us new to MMO overwhelmed. Especially us older guys. This is the main reason I stopped playing my first MMO Star Trek online. So much stuff and no explanation to what, where, and why.. I'm too old and work allot to read 50 sites to piece all the info together to help me make a decision even though that is how I learned most of the game.
  8. Hey Guys, I'm having a tough time as a new MMO player understanding and reading gear vs other gear. Is there any info that is complete that you know of that can help me out understand how to identify gear that I have and to make the judgment if I want to switch with my current gear or sell based on stats? When I mouse over a new item say armor that I just received, my fist impression is that it is not better than my current gear based on what will change red and green to be generic. But once I equip and bind the item to my character, most of my stats go up in a positive way. But using the info window makes me feel that most of my stats will go down if I equip. There must be something I'm missing or not getting. Any info would be helpful. Thanks
  9. Here is my simple 2 cents. Most likely they will make us pay for: - certain pets - future ships if and when they get released. - original films costumes if they get released - cosmetics - pay for more FP, WZ, or Ops. which will give you access to cool gear. - pay for more storage\capacity - mystery lock boxes - skins - items no doubt - races (whos not going to want to buy a Ewok or Wookie at one point.) - themes packs like new hope or clone wars....etc - respec - faster travel options - your face in SWTOR....lol - you get the point
  10. Gosh I wish I read this a few months as I only play on the weekends. Very helpful indeed. Some of the areas I would like to see more coverage are: - How to que yourself up to warzones, operations or Flashpoints. When I used the game menu to que myself up, I didn't see a list of missions I was able to choose in joining for PVP. So I'm not sure if I'm doing it right, or if I need to add the mission to my character que, or do I need to be on the planet that offers the PVP missions. It's not clear so it's still confusing when I'm looking for PVP matches. Sometimes I can't even find 3 guys to play a simple flashpoint. - Also, would like to know more about PVP roles. Such as TANK, DPS, and HEAL. Some of us never played MMO's before so we don't know what the rules or relationship should be . For example, I created a BH with a Defense tree...so that makes me a tank if i'm not mistaken. I'm cool with that but my intentions was to survive and not to get the foe's to attack me all the time while everybody else runs around it. So therefore I guess I'm suppose to jump in the middle of the, fight and get the foe to keep attacking me in hopes that the healers are healing me. I'm starting to get it but a noob explanation would be nice to help me understand roles and relationships among other PVP players.
  11. I agree. That was my first MMO and I now jumped ship to SWTOR. F2P came allot sooner for SWTOR than STO. I bought a lifetime account for STO.....glad SWTOR didn't offer one. STO feels like a store to me now even though most of it is still free. On a side note. The planet missions are way more funner in SWTOR. But the ship battles and space missions are much better in STO than the roller coaster ride you get in SWTOR. Oh and one more thing. STO is now owned by the Chinese.
  12. I came from Star Trek Online that was my first true MMO experience. I became a lifetime member then they pissed on me by making the game free with perks not nearly worth what I paid for. I'm not hating as I still once in a while enjoy the game. But I haven't played as much since it became free to play. As they appear to charge for everything new coming out that you wold really want such as ships. So for TOR I've only been playing for under 2 months now and I haven't invested too much money as I had an itch for the free game play was coming, just not this soon. Does it help..kinda...I do see more people playing STO since it became free so that is nice to see. So what does Free to play mean to me. I will have to pay $25 or so to get a new ship. It will cost me more money if I want something that is cool, hip or even nostalgia feeling such as x-wing or other memorial ship from the movies that may come out. Overall I'm just glad SWTOR didn't offer lifetime membership.
  13. Just started playing SWTOR. This guide really helped me get started and answered many of my questions. Thanks
  14. Great info. Though I already knew this...NOT. This guide really helped me guide my inquiries about crew skills...thx
