  1. Ok, other Sci-Fi universes aside, we're talking Halo Vs. Star Wars (in a broad sense) and Covenant Vs Empire (in a specific sense). To be quite honest, I think both universes are quite comperable. For example: Both have superweapons: Halo has the Halos an the Composer while Star Wars has the Death Star and the Suncrusher, among other things. Both have highly sophisticated "warriors classes", so to speak. Halo has the Spartans and Star Wars has the Mandalorians. Both have highly mysterious and ancient cultures. Halo has the Forerunners while Star Wars has the Rakata. Both have supernatural beings of great power. Halo has the forerunners, (particularly the Didact or those of your who have played Halo 4. He was able to use many powers that some would call comparable to a Jedi's force powers. One could infer that this ability was not exclusive to the Didact himself. Meanwhile, Star Wars has... Well, Jedi. Both have "laser swords". Halo has energy Swords while Star Wars has has everyone's favorite weapon: The lightsaber. Both feature hyperspace travel. The covenant are able to go through slipspace while Star Wars ships have hyperspace drives... I could go on, but I won't. As you can see, bot universes feature many similar aspects and comparisons can be drawn. I don't think it would be a far stretch of the imagination--especially since sci-fi is all a stretch of it in the first place--to actually have a reasonable discussion involving the parallels we can draw from these two separate, but similar universes. Also, I have always wanted to know who would win in a fight: Mandalorians or Spartans. That one seems like it has potential to be interesting.
  2. So I was on another forum and someone posted a topic called, "The Covenant (Halo) Vs The Empire, Who Would Win?" Well, the debate got heated and while I knew the Empire could crush the Covenant, I didn't have any hard facts to prove my statements. Then someone comes and posts this: "Why does it seem that we have to constantly establish that the Star Wars universe is the most overpowered Sci-Fi universe available? With the statistical numbers of the Empire's weaponry, shielding, etc., a single Tie-Fighter could solo an entire Covenant Fleet. Each one of those laser shots from their guns is the equivalent of 2 kilotons of explosives, and they can fire 480 times per minute. And that's just a Tie-Fighter, to which the Empire has thousands. "The covenant can glass planet! Blah blah blah" Some of the weaponry on bigger ships in Star Wars get to be as powerful as over 90 GIGAtons of explosives. To put it this way, if something like that hit the Earth it would turn Europe into a crater. The blast would kill everything within 4000 miles of the impact site instantly, and would inflect third-degree burns on anything within 21,000 miles of the impact site. A single shot from one of those ships would make a planet uninhabitable. And these guns can fire every 2 seconds. And then the Death Star's laser fires with the force of a small Supernova. Not only would it destroy a planet, but realistically it could destroy a large Star and it would destroy a entire Solar System if fired. And then just the ability to travel quickly is in favor of the Empire, because all of their ships can make FTL jumps over any distance in the blink of an eye, and it doesn't take days or weeks in Slipspace to travel the distance like it does for the Covenant. "The covenant could kill Stormtroopers hur dur dur" In terms of ground forces, each one of the Star Wars blaster pistols could one-shot an aircraft carrier and their armor could deflect a hit from a Spartan Laser. Blaster Pistols basically carry the force of a ship's cannons in Halo. The covenant would get stomped, completely. Humanity would get stomped completely. The Forerunners would get stomped completely. There is no correct argument that can say otherwise. And the only people who say otherwise are people who don't understand the argument at all. We have (stupidly) been given hard numbers for all the weaponry in Star Wars, and it is extremely bull**** overpowered. But that is what it is. Not even the Warhammer 40k universe, which is intentionally overpowered, can hold a candle to it." Now, that all sounds great and makes perfect sense. However, I would like to know if there are any sources for his information out there? Like Star Wars Weapons Danage Scales in real life or something. Or if anyone can confirm that he was correct? Or, if anyone has there own thoughts on who would win, feel free to post them.
  3. I took a bit of a break and all. Been busy and when I have free time I have been playing me some Halo 4 with the rest of the tryhards. So what is the deal with Sorcs nowadays? Is lightning a viable spec in PVP yet? Any new game changing additions that will make me want to start playing as my Sorc again, or is it in the same boat as it was Pre-1.4? Also, I find it quite humorous that "Time for a pvp fix..." Topic is still on the front page. It was already like 8 or 9 pages strong when I last checked in So I guess that is the canary in the coal mine around here.
  4. Or maybe there are a ton of them because everyone knows sorcs offer a real pvp challenge.
  5. Lightning spec and mobile shouldn't even be in the same sentence. Unless, of course, said sentence is explaining how immobile lightning is.
  6. All the suggestions in the world can't help the sorc unless it is brought to the dev teams attention. We should be focusing our time on getting our singular voice heard as a community rather than a few random individuals, otherwise it looks like fleeting complaints to some dev that spends all of 5 minutes on a board if that. Most of us agree sorcs need buffs in at least a few areas and we have a number of excellent suggestions already. The next logical step would be to get our message out with the endorsement of some respected members of the sorc community.
  7. That's because only the most sexually frustrated, elite shut-ins among us are dedicated imp rollers that release all that pent up energy; they live out fantasies of unlimited power and smashing the good guys that always get the girl in the face with their big lightsabers. The phenomena actually speaks volumes about our server populations. So next time some big bad marauders come leaping at you with the fury of a thousand lonely nights, remember these words and it may help you through your struggle.
  8. Cuz 10 months ago they were viable damage dealing classes as they were originally intended to be. Not these butchered abominations we have now that can only be competitive as "support" or "healing".
  9. Sorcs were designed to shoot lightning and inflict damage and are appropriately labled and identified as a DPS class by BioWare. You, among may other players just choose to play them for utility because you can't DPS.
  10. It's as monotonous as firing with a blaster all the time or having fifteen different slashing moves. Lightning is our bread and butter. You want something different, play an Assassin. Leave our electricity alone!
  11. Ha-ha, none of that post had anything to do to you. I was referring to the "Anti-Revanites"--we'll call them that--that constantly use any opportunity Revan is mentioned to desparage his fans and one up people with Star Wars knowledge taken from many late nights on wookiepedia. If I want to directly address you, I will quote you.
  12. That was blatant sarcasm. Surprised you didn't pick it up. Who am I to say what you can or can't say?
  13. I said as good as dead. No new literature or related media to expand on his character story means he is a dead character. Don't need a body to have a dead character.
  14. ^^^ Yeah, Revan is a very polarized character in the Star Wars community. People either love him or hate him. However, I see way more Revan and Revanite bashing on these forums than anything else. "I hate revanites, they argue against cannon", "Revanites are so stupid, we have facts". Well, facts and cannon or not, that is still trolling in the sense that it provokes people that like Revan into arguing. Either that or they are part of that Star Wars Elitist, ego-stroking crowd that gets off on showing everybody else up with their uber knowledge of every fact and cannon in Star Wars. I sense this topic is more about the bashing than it is about cannon and facts; otherwise, the topic maker wouldn't have had the nerve to respond to all the sharp criticism that rears its head all the time. This topic is more of a response to a sentiment ubiquitous on the forums more than it is a statement.
  15. If I ever found out I was all of the sudden "force-sensitive", my first logical thought would be: "Well, If I just received/developed powers, there must be a higher purpose involved in me acquiring said powers." That being said, I would embark on a personal journey to uncover the purpose in it and trying to discover my new role in the larger society, be it good or bad, as someone with said power. This, I'm sure, would most likely lead to an adventure of some kind that would hopefully lead to many new opportunities of self-discovery, friendship, and service.
  16. I don't see them coming out with any new Revan material in the near-future, so I want to say he is as good as dead. That is generally what they do to characters that just evaporate into the force, unless they come back as ghosts. However, nothing is set in stone, so only time will tell.
  17. Exactly. That is why you're perfect to educate all these simpletons and imbeciles that know nothing of cannon and seek to pervert it with their misguided interpretations. and You are the beacon of light in the darkness--without which--all are lost in the vast consuming oceans of ignorance that threatens the delicate tapestry that is lore. All hail Rayla. Heir of Lucas and master of the force!
  18. Well then you should do it about once every hour on the hour. Just to counter all the new ignorant users joining at all times and the users with short-term memory. And while we're at it, we'll give you a title. Rayla Felana: Defender of teh cannon and lost causes.
  19. Well, that is what I mean. A darkside inq is just too evil of a being to be kept alive, product of his/her surroundings or not. Just because someone walks the darker path doesn't mean they can't live a epic life. Or at least... find redemption at the end. I think that should be an option as well for us darksiders. Classic Star Wars theme rolled into the inq story.
  20. I mean, if you like it better in the slave pens with the skull bashing aliens we can always have you reassigned...
  21. If you heard a single word Thanaton said before you off'd him, you'd know the new Sith Empire is about tradition and preserving the frail tapestry the tethers all in the great empire. For this to be effective, a level of civility must be maintained between all Sith within the society. It isn't "take whatever you want for the sake of your sick and perverse pleasure". That is why had you and Zash marked for death in the first place--and that is also why you can't just zap any old citizen either. These Sith have rules, however twisted they may be--but rules nonetheless.
  22. I think the general train of thought is: Madness offers more instant casts, mobility, and better DoTs. Lightning offers slightly more DPS, better force management, and some decent AoE. However, there is more casting involved, proc watching, and it is highly immobile. I don't use hybrids, so I can't comment on those.
