Hi everyone,
First of all, I would really like that this thread to be "troll free". This is a serious question, therefore it may requires argumented anwers.
The fact is, in somehow 3 months, SW:TOR is going to be F2P (or freemium). Like every player, I'm kinda concerned about the model they will implement (LOTRO like? P2W like? ...). But whatever that model will be, there is one big question: What's next?
Indeed, F2P can be a good way to attract new players, using the free mode like a bait for subscribers. But, I you want players to subscribe, and people who already subscribed to keep doing so, your game as too keep evolving. Thus, you need to give majors updates to your game.
The problem is, today, SW:TOR is experiencing some ugly problems, bugs, and some of them seem to be caused by some misconceptions during the developement.
For example: when you are lagging, your game freezes. This is the very first time I see that in any online game! Don't you know how to use async TCP connections? If you don't know, Boost::asio (async_read & async_write with callbacks) and Qt (non blocking connection and signals/slots and you rule the world) give really easy ways to do it. This is just an example, but players are really expecting bug fixes.
The, the content. I'm a real fan of PvP, and warzones are, for now, enough to keep my subscribing. But, this game is a f*ckin' SW! I know you have to satisfy both of PvEboys and PvPBoys, but all that game should be about kick Imps/Reps asses! What is the point of being a super cool Jedi/Sith/Bounty Hunter/Soldier with über stuff, if you can have epic battles? Castles in Lineage 2, Forteresses in Aion... RvR is a nonsense if there are no battle to "rule the world"! As PvP content is something you MUST add, therefore, class balancing for pvp is not an option but mandatory... believe me.
About PvE, even if I'm not a fan of PvE, be sure you'll have to add PvE content too, and not just add a f*ckin droid. More Flashpoints, Ops, adding levels, skills... You also must have to do all of this. To keep your players, you have to give them new things. As SW:TOR is lacking of endgame content, this should be a priority.
I'm probably mising many points, this post can't be exhaustive, and it doesn't pretend to do so. But I'm really expection Bioware to give us some feedback (I mean "REAL" feedback).
