  1. Can I bring my laptop around to your house to get the download. Mine seems to be sitting around 30 kb/s.
  2. Well this explains so much. You're one of those people. I can't say I'm surprised based on your comments here. PVP ganker that's too scared to roll on a PVP server.
  3. Actually when Steam was hacked, what was accessed was an AES256 encrypted database. Good luck breaking into that. The time factor on a supercomputer to brute force through that is longer than reaching the heat death of the universe. A few forum accounts were compromised, and if those belonged to stupid people who use the same password for multiple things, then they might've been screwed. But thats because you suck at understanding security. Not Valve. I said that requiring two factor authentication to secure something is a poor security setup because thats the implication that was made about getting a security key for TOR. Not that anyone with an option for two-factor authentication has bad security.
  4. A TOR account needs two factor authentication to be secure? Geez, Bioware must have a horrible security setup. Origin doesn't need two factor authentication, neither does Steam. If Bioware needs two factor authentication to secure our accounts, then someone needs to take their security team aside and shoot them.
  5. And you once again show you have no idea what anyone is talking about. The only way to reduce these pings is to move the servers closer to the customers. Since not all games take the options of having local servers, the games design takes into account the fact that players could be connecting with higher pings. The engine design for TOR doesn't do this. So while WoW is more than capable of being played at a higher ping, TOR isn't. Its very poorly designed for those situations, especially with the amount of packets it send to get information around. WoW also has a bucket load of addons that help players with bad pings. The big problem those caused is that now its assumed everyone (even low ping players) are running them, so end game content is designed for players running all these "cheat" mods, which completely defeats the purpose of the mods for high ping players.
  6. Well its annoying if you're playing through with 3 mates. You're never going to group up with anyone else, so its just useless spam in the general chat to you. Being able to block them off would be useful.
  7. And I'm getting pings of 300 while on Korriban. And it jumps out another 50 when I'm anywhere near another player. Can't wait to see how it goes when I reach an area that is actually populated. So why would I care that you can barely notice the difference at half my ping? And different games have different levels of susceptibility to lag because of their engine design and their game play mechanics. TOR is not designed to be played with a high level of lag, its the reason why EA/Bioware delayed the release of the game in Australia until after they had Oceanic servers up.
  8. Even with the National Broadband Network, you'll still die in PVP, because the issue is about latency to the US, not local bandwidth.
  9. I seemed to have connection issues with Gav Daragon last night. Had the game running at around 500-600ms ping and it was unplayable. And that was simply running around on Nar Shaddaa. This was also gameplay without having to deal with any interrupt mechanics and the need for decent timing. I logged onto Bergren Colony and Harbringer and was getting pings around the 350-400 mark on Tython doing nothing. Thats pretty close to hitting an unplayable ping without even doing anything.
  10. Reduced cooldown for Personal Space ship starts at level 30.
  11. This. Oh goodie, we get to sit in a call queue, racking up international call charges while waiting on hold. Yet another great big F#%! You to all APAC players from EA.
  12. No what we saw was a couple of people didn't see an issue, a couple of people wanted to transfer their APAC toons off to consolidate with ones rerolled on other servers, and the vast majority wanted an APAC superserver. Stop trying to misrepresent what people were asking for in the thread. Its as bad as the rubbish that Eric posted in reponse.
  13. Then the people reading the metrics are really thick. Of course they have a reduced usage. They've got long cool downs themselves and they're also limited by the cooldowns of other skills. Killing the droid mobs while playing a Watchman. Stun the blue, leap at a weak enemy, overload saber, zealous strike then merciless strike kills the first. If the second is in range Master strike kills that, with blade storm followed by pommel strike killing the third. If the second is outside range, reverse those two. Take a breath for cooldowns, then run through a standard rotation to kill the strong droid.
  14. Unlike the rubbish that Jack keeps sprewing out. That is actually a fairly large number of signings protesting a decision that has only been spread by word of mouth. We're less than 3 days after a post was made on pg 250-odd in a thread General forum... and that many people are already showing their disappointment with EAs decision. Just imagine how things will explode when they actually make an announcement to all of the player base. Is that why nothing has been sent out to APAC players? Since this post you've sent out another email advertising the upcoming expansion and encouraging people to pay for. But there is no mention that you plan on degrading their play experience soon afterwards. This is disgusting bait and switch advertising, and it is illegal within the market that you are mainly doing this too. Forums are used by a minority of players. Sticking a post on pg 250 of a thread in General discussion is not an announcement to the entire APAC player base.
  15. Really? More evidence that they should've consolidated the APAC servers way back when they did it for everyone else. More vibrant, single APAC server back then, could've drawn back more Australian players and may have even resulted in more APAC players rolling on it when they signed up for F2P. Thats us having to deal with being screwed over constantly. And now, we're just starting to get sick of it, instead of just sitting back and taking it.
  16. So when's this getting fixed? You rush to take down the servers during APAC prime playing time because people are levelling too quickly during double xp so you level up faster weekends. But now that you've gone and broken a part of the game there's no action? Thanks for breaking the only way for us to earn Black Hole commendations on APAC servers, since you've murdered the servers populations with your other announcements.
  17. You keep talking about how you played on the US servers way back when the game first launched? How is that relevant to now? Significant numbers of players were less comfortable in their characters rotations and priorities, so their was more decision making that slowed down PVP players. Now they're running more on reflex, with sharper reactions because they know the game inside out. And with 2.0 its going to get even worse as alacrity gets more important, and casting times drop even further. As for end game PVE content, back around launch if you missed that interrupt or swap (its whats now known as story mode) the group takes heavy damage and there's a bit of pressure on the healers... now your running that Operation in Nightmare mode and its a wipe. Better communication? How about any communication? All thats been seen is some communication with a minority of players who actually participate on the forum. Where were the emails sent to all APAC players asking about their issues? In fact, most players are only finding out about this issue because of word of mouth from others discussing it in general chat. There hasn't even been an announcment of this plan sent to players yet. A post made by the Community Manager on page 250 something of a random thread in the General forum is not an announcement to the playerbase. There's not even a mention from Bioware of this server removal in the action forums for each server.
  18. No its not a twitch response game like a shooter. Those games are adversely affected by 10-20ms ping differences. This is a much larger impact. Also, a stable 200ms can easilly be planned around when it comes to handling things like cast times and rotations. A lovely quote often trumpted by player who aren't playing with a high ping. Also you should note that the 200ms ping are best case situations. Not what players are mainly going to be facing. And yes a good APAC player should be able to handle a poor player even with that ping disadvantage... but if both players are just as good. Well sucks to be the APAC player. And that's in the current game. Who knows will be happening post 2.0 with the increased importance on alacrity and reducing cast times. This just indicates that Bioware are likely to be adding even more intensive timing mechanics in future content. Nightmare mode operations indicates otherwise. The increased ping, and vastly increased number of hops also exposes APAC player to much worse lag spikes.
  19. The fact that you don't think 200 millisecond difference is significant makes me wonder just how poor a player you actually are. You've also made it clear in other posts that you've never actually played with the 40ms pings on APAC server, so you clearly have no idea on what the impact of that change to a player is.
  20. 1 person was posting that. I know of many other GD players that have been hoping for a server merge. Or the option to transfer to Dalborra. Having spent cartel coins made simply rerolling a terrible option as we would've then simply thrown our money away. Instead this arse-backwards "solution" (and I use the term loosely) from EA/Bioware results in us having thrown away our money anyway.
  21. No you clearly have not played tons of MMOs and you clearly have no idea how online video games work. When you're looking at your PC its transferring data and instructions in less than 1 microsecond. Even with APAC servers we're getting data transferred in 30-40 milliseconds. Thats an order of magnitude slower.
  22. Announcement? Where? They've made no widely available announcement to all APAC players. Yet in less than 24 hours, already in excess of 400 people have signed a petition protesting against this decision. And they only know of it through word of mouth. Just image how much that discontent will blow out once they actually inform most APAC players that their servers will going away.
  23. That significantly more people is less than the number that were active on Dalborra. So they're not getting the population gain they would during prime play times and they're getting slapped with extra latency as a bonus. Thats a piss poor solution.
  24. High end SWTOR gaming at my parents house is near unplayable on an Internode connection to a US server. That is an ISP known and highly respected for the quality of their network, and connections to the US. High end SWTOR gaming at my home with TPG is near unplayable. They own PPC-1. If you don't understand what that means, you really have little idea on ISPs and international networking.
