My thoughts re: Quinn:

This is true! Maybe by the end of the semester I'll get some awesome grades or something, but eh. I was a lot better at anthropology. My grades were amazing.

Time for new prompts, which I will preface with ~tales from my personal life~. So today I got my first organic chemistry test back. And I did really really badly. Like, failed badly. And I looked at it and felt bad about myself and felt horrible about my future and finally I said, "Screw it, I am so done with this. I'm going to graduate school." I felt so relieved in that moment, that even though I was giving up on becoming a doctor it simply was not worth the stress and the emotional toll it was having on me anymore. So your prompt this week is Changes or New Paths because despite the relief, this still does feel kinda crappy. It's something I really wanted and having to end it really does suck. But in the long run I think I will be happier. So write about that sort of thing this week.

I named most of my characters after the wonderful webcomic Homestuck, which everyone should read. It is so popular that it crashed newgrounds' servers and raised $800k for a game in 2 days. Photoshop, or its annoying free version, GIMP. I have been using GIMP but I hate it and I miss PS. I use it to post pictures to my tumblr a lot.

I agree, bright, we all needed a pep talk. Maybe because school has started back up for those of us who are students or have kids? I know I've been crazy stressed. I was inspired to make a picture of my characters too. I am so sleepy from school! Organic chemistry, analytical chem and calculus 2 are a lot of work. I hope I still have time to write...it really helps me recharge. Also, I really really wish that I didn't second-guess my work so much. Oh well - I think we all do that.

Oh noes I almost forgot! Here is a new prompt. Week of 9/5/12 Goals and Ambitions - Everybody has something they dream of, something they're working for in the future. For a lot of our characters it's a defining part of who they are. But if things were different, would their goals change? Who would they want to be?

Eeek I'm a day late...so sorry! The hurricane is supposed to come up here today, but it is...not? It's all sunny out. I'm frustrated. Week of 9/1/2012 (Un)invited Guests - Things get complicated when you're visiting someone else, or have someone visiting you. Even if you want them there! Of course, things are extra complicated when your guest is someone you didn't want or expect to come around. ...Like No One's Watching - When we're alone we often indulge ourselves in things that might embarrass us if others knew. Bad music, bad dancing, whatever it is, we'd be pretty mortified if someone caught us. This time, write about your character's secret indulgences - and how they react when it's discovered.

Here's my ppl: 1. Ayang Cardani, female Mirialan scoundrel. Straddles the line between genius and crazy. Also have her on Ebon Hawk where she holds the current title of Worst Mandalorian. LS. 2. Aranea Senecio, female human Marauder. Bleeding-heart LS idealist. Gay for Jaesa. Wants to be bros with Quinn. 3. Kanaya Ixera, female human Sentinel. Mostly LS, but doesn't mind making attachments. Meyali's former padawan and Aranea's twin sister, but they were separated at birth. 4. Meyali Cardani, female Mirialan Sage. LS but thinks she's better than everyone else because of it. A horrible, horrible person. Gets what's coming to her. Ayang's mom. 5. Meenah Ferula, female Twi'lek Assassin. Neutral and crazy. Rains karma down on Meyali. 6. Terezi [can't pick a last name yet], female human Merc. LS but idc, I just made her to see how good I was at cloning NPCs. Now she just runs around Kaas City freaking people out. 7. Vriska Alyssum, female human Operative. LS. Has a tragic backstory that makes the agent story 50000 times worse.

I like Doc. I thought he was fun. People have made the Tony Stark/Pepper Potts comparison and I can see it, and I think it's accurate. I liked Corso a lot too. I like him as a character - but I don't think his romance was written particularly well. Played straight, it was very sweet. But some of the stuff people have said about his line comes way out of left field. When his writer said he went through a lot of changes and his romance was done last-minute it all made sense. I think they made a good effort and he is an interesting character, but you sort of have to fill in some gaps yourself to really like the romance. Also, I am 100% convinced that the idea for him came from a BW writer listening to a Keith Urban album and being like, "Oh yeah, we can totally make a character out of this!" Seriously, as a country girl, some of the stuff with him had me laughing and saying, "Wow, this is what you think country people are like? For real?" I haven't gotten that far with Andronikos, but I think I'm headed for fangirl territory. He's just awesome, and so far I really like how the line has progressed - feels very natural and fitting for my character. Vector is super sweet and super interesting. But I'm not sure how much I love his romance, because I feel like I have to have my agent say the flirt lines and they are just...not nice. And not fitting with my character and the way I played her. So far I haven't gotten to feel like they're developing a bond, and that's what I wanted for her! I hope that changes because I think he's just a fascinating character. Got nowhere with Quinn, because I play my warrior as gay. However, I can say that the platonic dynamic between the two is interesting. I almost have this feeling like my warrior sees him as an older brother, someone she really respects and looks up to. I like that a lot. Haven't even gotten to Torian yet, but I think my clone-of-Darth-Zash BH will make the best cougar ever.

Erhmagerd, we got featured! I saw that eariler when I was waiting for my lab to finish up. So exciting! I hope more new writers stop by and join our excellent writing party.

This. You have to have a little imagination or else plenty of things will break your personal canon. For example, my main is from Coruscant, and when she was there she said quite a few things that didn't make any sense, such as: - Apparently knowing little to nothing about the Sacking (she was there during it) - Not knowing who Senator Kayl was (she voted for her) - Not knowing where anything was (seriously, it's her homeworld!) - Telling some NPC "I'm not from Coruscant" (durr yes she is) Sure, it was a little awkward, but that doesn't mean it had to happen that way in my head. Shrug it off and move on. I do think it would be nifty to get to choose something like a homeworld, to maybe open up a couple dialogue options - I would have enjoyed hearing her tell her companion something like, "This is my homeworld, I can totally show you around!" or something like that. But as it is, it's fine.

I'm here! I'm taking a break from calculus to post prompts. Week of 8/29/12 Loyalty and Betrayal - Two loaded words that can have major impacts on a person's life. In an alternate universe, would your loyal trooper disobey orders? Would one of your companions fail to succumb to betrayal? How would loyalty be differently defined by another version of your characters?

I came up with a couple random things because of the way things have gone in my personal character canon with this particular NPC. Possible SI spoilers...? I like giving NPCs the most tragic backstories I can think of. I'm sure I will come up with some more tragedy to give her.

Meyali definitely got what she deserved. She'll probably end up being kicked out of the Jedi Order as a result. Like I said, Zash is my favorite NPC, easily. If I'm being 100% honest, it's because I sort of "get" her. Even the not-so-nice stuff she does, I understand in a creepy and awful way. Not being too spoilery, but yeah - I guess she reminded me of what I would be like if I were a Sith. Which freaks me out. I think I also like her because she comes across as sort of motherly in a weird, bizarre way, and I'm always drawn to characters who have issues with their mothers or daughters or mother/daughter figures. I think I might have issues with my mother...
