  1. I don't think EA realizes how important this patch is, it will define whether the game lives or dies. It's make or break time. If spamming one ability is still the best option in PVP then I'm quitting this game, as will a lot of other people.
  2. It could be that they are listening but just not informing us that they are working on some of the issues you spoke about. The Warzones do need a good overhaul and perhaps an entire rethink on how to do PVP for SWTOR is needed. We need things like: 1. CTF maps, yes more than one. 2. More Huttball maps, in the current Huttball map sorcerers can shine with the pull friendly ability, maybe other maps could allow other classes to shine. This would make it a lot more fun as well, endless Huttball map possibilities exist. 3. Take and Hold (T&H) maps that do not feel dull, flying in on the speeders is a fun idea the first time a player experiences it but it soon gets irritating. 3 capture points in T&H doesn't seem to be enough. 4. Warzones which focus on killing enemy players and no other objective to achieve victory. 5. Speed, running around while stuck in combat is just too slow. 6. PVP designed in a way to encourage the losing side to continue participating.
  3. There are far better PVP orientated MMOs out there, SWTOR is really terrible for PVP, you people are just kidding yourselves. SWTOR PVP is as I always say an afterthought, two of the warzones aren't very good, Huttball can be fun but the fun is immediately lost when you queue for the next warzone and it isn't Huttball. This style of game needs faster non gear grinding PVP, I mean there's light-sabers and guns in it and yet has the same slow feel of Rift and WoW. Ranked matches, erm yeah 'hooray', still going to be doing the same warzones.
  4. Yeah lets just throw more warzones at the game... All the current ones are so awesome that developers can waste time on new ones. Seriously! We want fun PVP matches, not slow objective based WOW cloned Battlegrounds. Was gonna type more but what's the point, developers do not know how to be innovative. 1.2 better be so freakin awesome that it will MAKE people want to play, or SWTOR will just be another Warhammer online fail. yeaimmadsowut!
  5. I played NWN online back before the days of WoW. - Gear progression is fun but not when it's bottle-necked into a progressive grind. - PVP should be fun if you are not having fun in PVP then a different game may give you the fun you wish. - Map design is very important, maps need to be designed in ways to prevent spawn camping. - The losing side needs incentives and chances to actually continue to do things other than waiting for the game to end while being farmed. - Time spent should not be an automatic ticket to stomp players who have spent less time in the game. However, those who spend more time should be rewarded with things such as: 1. Unique titles, visuals, companions, etc... for performance, consistency, and time spent. 2. A slight advantage over brand new players, but done in a way that still requires you to play well to beat a good player. - Random buffs and things in the maps to allow brand new players and long playing players to receive a noticeable advantage for a limited time. - No lock-downs until dead instances. No one likes this, that is why I believe all types of crowd control including knock-backs, slows, stuns, incapacitation, etc... should all share the same diminishing returns timer, this timer should kick in each time an ability is cast on a player so casting multiple CCs on a player at the same time or within 1-2 seconds of each other would see them become immune for 8-10 seconds almost instantly. The timer could work on an 8sec - 5sec - 2sec - immune(8-10sec) basis. Using an ability that only lasts 4sec as the first CC would obviously be not as good as an 8sec one. - Dual-Spec, this is required in any MMO these days that wants to base the game on the unholy trinity of Tank, healer, DPS.
  6. Huttball is actually good but the other two are terrible, we need more Huttball maps. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=392449 PVP is, and always will be an afterthought for these MMO companies. People seem to think GW2 will be their savior, I disagree because the game has far too much hype, any glitches or flaws in it will hit the players harder. Most MMO players are still in the mindset of gear progression and grinding in both PVE and PVP, the companies who make MMOs stick to this because they lack the creativity or balls to design something different and possibly better. I myself will play GW2 (no monthly sub, so why not), however I still don't like the idea of the weapon swapping for different abilities, I mean a caster with a two handed sword... but what I seek in a game is its ability to be entertaining and fun while still keeping me interested over a long period of time, so I tend to give most MMOs a go. I'll play SWTOR for quite a while because MMOs usually improve with age but in the end I will ditch the games that are not as fun for the ones which are. The suggestions I talk about in my above linked post would add more fun to the PVP side of SWTOR for me, others may have differing views but that is good, we need ideas out there so the Developers can see them. Oh yeah, where is a good CTF warzone, was it thrown in the garbage by mistake? Huttball is not a replacement for CTF either... it is a different and welcome PVP scenario.
  7. The Master Dar'Nala PVP server/community is atrocious, most of the time while questing all I ever see in chat are arguments or people who just want to abuse others. It's always "cu** this" and "cu** that" constantly. I enjoy PVP, I just find it sad that the only PVP server for oceanic is full of such immature nonsense. When I see a guild trying to recruit in chat it is usually followed by players saying that guild sucks, or just targeting the person who posted the recruitment with abuse. Don't get me wrong there are good people around but it seems the PVP title on the server ensures a lot of immature people join the community. It's almost like when they can't find lowbies to gank these players do their PVP in the chat window, or at least some variation of it. As for open world PVP well it usually consists of groups of players ganking one or two people trying to quest or higher levels initiating the attack cause they know they can't lose. I was chased half way across Tatooine by a level 50 and his buddies, I eventually got caught and slaughtered due to having a slower mount and having to avoid the natives. I enjoy high level open world PVP that is why I picked this server but from what I am hearing the only open world PVP is what I have already experienced, have people gotten bored of Ilum or something? Anyway I have since moved on to another server in search of a better community, it seems to have paid off. I just worry a little cause EA do not seem to enforce any rules to control the community on any server. One last note to all you people who seem to think age denotes maturity. In an MMO you will find that a lot of the people hurling abuse, trolling, or just wanting to annoy others are usually a lot older than school age. They are faceless in an MMO so they do whatever they like, I would assume most people should know this already.
  8. #3 Would have blown your mind so much that it just had to be hidden... Actually number 3 was a FFA deathmatch but I combined it with Team deathmatch and forgot to renumber, will fix.
  9. Vehicle warfare would indeed be fun in this game. I made a suggestion thread for FFA or Team Deathmatch games, objective to reach X amount of kills. Even thought of a system to encourage the losing team to keep trying and spawning options to prevent spawn camping. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=392449 It's a crying shame that PVP is an afterthought in every MMO these days.
  10. Some ideas to increase the PVP fun: 1. Keep Huttball and add more maps, the game design is fun and more maps would reduce the chances of people getting bored with it, think of all the cool possibilities. 2. Remove the other 2 warzones. Don't do what Blizzard did and continue to rework terrible maps. I was going to offer many suggestions for improvement on these but the best option seems to be removal. They were a nice try but even a win on these maps leaves players feeling like they did not have as much fun as they should be having in PVP. 3. Add a FFA or Team Deathmatch warzone or 2: The FFA one could work just like a FPS deathmatch game. Random spawn points, some scattered buffs, other creative things, first person to reach 30 or 50 kills. Team Deathmatch could either have random spawn locations like FFA or fixed ones designed in a way to prevent spawn camping, first team to reach 50 or 100 kills. As a team falls behind by say 15 kills, each kill they get counts as 2 kills until they break even with the other team again, at 30 kills behind each kill should count as 3 etc... This would keep the losing team interested even if they are getting slaughtered. The winning team would have to keep playing well or risk losing to a good offensive executed by the losing team. 4. Increased rewards for high performers and those who take them out. Self explanatory really, those who do well should reap greater rewards over those who do not participate or who constantly make silly decisions. It could work on a design such as during one life if a DPSer reaches X amount of damage they gain a star which makes them worth more points/favour to the enemy if killed, while the star is up that player gains a small amount of extra points/favour for their actions in the warzone. This could work similar for healers and tanks for amount of heals done or damage taken. Whichever is the highest out of the 3; DPS, damage taken, or heals is the stat which is used for the star. They could stack up to 5 times or so and should be highly visible to all players. Once dead the star/s is/are removed, having it this way would make players try more with each life they have in the warzone. Note: MMO PVP doesn't always have to have objectives other than to kill enemy players. Constructive criticism with intelligent suggestions/fixes to any of the ideas expressed above are welcome.
