  3. Applying for: Droid Technician or Research Contributor; my skills are in both Droid Advanced AI systems and weaponry. Primarily I've been focused on researching new weapons that could be deployed on Mobile droid platforms for a variety of uses as outlined below. 1. Please tell us a little about yourself. Why do you want to be a part of the Czerka family? Due to previous commitments I was unable to apply to Czerka until now, however it's a well known fact that Czerka is on the front lines of cutting edge technology and pushing the bounds of scientific research. That's the field I choose to pursue and have been involved with for a vast majority of my life. 2. At Czerka, we pride ourselves on our accomplishments. Please name three of your accomplishments that you are most proud of. (Please do not include family milestones such as marriages or the birth of your children.) DSIC - The Droid-Sentient Interface Controller was a device I recently Helped to design which would allow for a Droid owner to interface with their droid for both Remote viewing and direct control. This Device was deemed "Troublesome" by the Republic and the research was shut down. However progress has been promising in terms of stability and usefulness. Republic High command requested that I research a means of Disrupting Force Sensitive powers. This research took the form of an energy type and wavelength that would break the resonance between force-user and Midichlorians. Testing unfortunately never took place as the republic senate deemed it too dangerous for their Jedi friends should the weapon fall into the hands of the sith. Personal and private research for this device has continued however and presently looking for... Backing to see it turn to large scale deployment. During the time of the Rakghoul outbreak, I assisted several worlds in Developing an advanced containment system which could not only contain large groups of rakghouls, but using a certain sonic wavelength, force the beats to turn on each other and wipe themselves out. Unfortunately this research was never fully completed before the Rakghoul outbreak reached the world in which it was planned for Deployment and large scale testing, however it is viable technology that may one day help worlds such as Taris resolve it's Rakghoul issues. 3. How did you go about achieving the accomplishments above. Would you say you would do "whatever it takes" for success? There were moments where these pieces of research required... Distasteful testing... however the needs of the many require science to do what's needed to secure the technology to solve the galaxies problems. If that requires, on occasion Human or Animal testing, then that is how the research must proceed. 4. Would you say you have a strong moral compass? Do you think this could get in the way of your job, should you be asked to do something...questionable? Morality is for Jedi. Scientists and researchers cannot be dissuaded by the teachings of some ancient order of monks. Science must progress in an ever turbulent struggle to see completion. We do what is required for the good of all, even if that means making questionable choices 5. You are about to enjoy our wide variety of complimentary cocktails and snacks, when you notice that your esteemed colleague's newest experiment is likely to break out of their confines while you are gone. How would you handle this situation? I wouldn't. I'd watch it play out, gather Data and results from my competitions work, and expand on that. In the case of a volatile situation, develop a new means to not only deal with similar situations, but also improve on their work to ensure it would not happen a second time. It was their carelessness and miscalculation that allowed the creation to break free in the first place. I'll just not repeat that same mistake.
  4. I second this... Bioware, I've been a big supporter and defender of yours, and for the first time I really feel like you are wasting time doing this. This has ZERO detrimental effect on the game and you take the servers down to "Fix" it? Come on. people are going to 50 one way or the other, weather they spend 12 hours on Ilum, or 12 hours PVPing, they are leveling at the same rate either way. Leave it alone, there's other things you should be doing with the money we pay you. That's the trick isn't it... -We- Pay -You-. We expect your features to work, we expect problems to be resolved... This is NOT one of them, and shouldn't be a speck on your priority list right now. Keep your team focused on making Rise as bug free as it can be. Focus on fixing numerous other problems the game has, such as the hood toggle half the forum is screaming about or the helmet's not working properly. Or maybe adding features that people keep asking you for. Ready check for example. Quit messing with things that the vast majority of your player base doesn't care about, or are actively using.
  5. What amazes me is that Bioware is actually wasting their time on this instead of dealing with the bigger issues and fixes that they've been promising us.. Well played whiners.... well played.
  6. For all those barking about crap gear 50's showing up to PVP and FP's.... Other than there's more at a time, how is this ANY Different from normal? You still have players that don't know what LI even is, who don't know that there's entry level gear available to them... I don't see how this is any different than any other day. last double exp weekend I went from 18-36 without touching Ilum. I've got 6 other 50's that didn't have the benefit of double xp, or Ilum, I think I'm entitled to do something different for a change.. Of course the difference is I know what's available and I know what I'm doing so I don't impact the whiners barking about nothing. You guy's complain on fleet when GF takes forever, then when there's a way to give out more 50's to actually do them, you complain more. Seriously... Get over it.
  7. Let me let you in on a secret OP... Most of the full tme players of this game... Don't touch the forums. THey don't want to waste their time listening to trolls and ridiculous Idea's like this. Second, No one really hates the cartel stuff TBH... Most people enjoy it even if it means more real money... Compared to the number of subs, the amount of people complaining about the Cartel market is minimal. Last... What your suggesting to making the game 100% open. No one here wants to buy Dread Guard gear on the GTN... The point of raiding is to EARN gear. I'm not putting my trust in a tank that bought all his gear on the GTN to tank Kephess. Go back to "the other game" where someone might think this is cool.
  8. yeah, seems to have been resolved like 10 minutes later.
  9. Queue, Instant Pop, Kick to Login.. Anyone else getting this? This is Pre-50 Warzones
  10. I thought it might be fun to hear from the devs on a slightly different angle about the game. I'm sure they are tired of answering the same old questions day in and day out, so I figured I'd ask some that might grab interest. Having been in the game industry, for me at least, there's things I'd like to know about the creative process they used when working with the game and the actual job, rather than the game itself so I really hope to hear back from the Dev's and see if we can get to know them from a different angle. So I'll ask 3 questions for each of 3 categories First up from the technical side: 1. What was the deciding factor in using HEROengine? Was it technical capability, or more because of it's cloud like nature? (Not counting financial reasoning) 2. Some of the animation is much smoother than others. Was the whole thing done with Key frame animation or was motion capture involved? What was the deciding factor in choosing an animation method? 3. When working with the objects in the game, are you to stay at a certain polycount? If so is it more because of the engine or just a standard that was decided by the team? (Modelers never get any love) Next up is Art. 1. What does the art team draw inspiration from? Strictly star wars or are there other mediums that get used for the inspiration? (INspired by the makeb artwork) for example, square enix is known to take inspiration from the Jpop star Gackt sometimes. (Genesis from FFVII: Crisis core) 2. The Makeb artwork looks really good, and I noticed it had kind of this paint style to it. Was this artwork does within photoshop/gimp etc.. or was this really a painted work? (Some of the transparency makes me think photoshop) which is faster and more effective for the art team? 3. Sometimes a concept artists is given this huge text describing an environment, and expected to work off just that alone. When concept artists are working on a projects do they work closely with the designer for this, or are they given a huge pool of information and throw their own unique touch to things? Now for the last trio of questions, concerning the people themselves. 1. Game Design is a very competitive industry, and very hard sometimes to work in, what is your motivation for having come to the industry? Was it a choice because of a love for games, or was it more of that's where your skill set led you? 2. Sometimes you have those day's where things just aren't going right, and you have to work those ridiculous hours. In general game design before the launch of a title we sometimes have what I came to know as a death march, (Huge shifts, Lots of coffee, monster, redbull and the like) Is that ever an issue in an ongoing project like swtor? How does your team handle those kinds of scenario's if present? 3. This ones for the lead designers out there. In my experience, the lead design bounces around quite a bit between deparments, going from Design document work, story, QA etc... If you've worked on single player games in the past, what's the biggest difference in your role in that compared to an ongoing game like swtor? And that's that! I for once would like to know more about the people behind the project and how their skills and the process works a bit better. I understand that some information you just can't talk about, and it's different for each group, but I'd really like to better know the team behind the game that a lot of people have sunk over a year of their life into. maybe if this goes well I'll throw another batch out there, but sometimes I think it's nice to know a bit about the people, their inspiration and their driving force, you know, reinforce the idea that there's human's on the other side and not droids working around the clock.
  11. Actually, you did, several times. A former player of the game, a friend of mine, spoke out against changes you made, and he was infracted for speaking opinion, which was by no means offensive or an attack on the developers. He was given no justification for it other than he was infracted for speaking negatively of the game.
  12. How about the Guild capital ships that we have heard nothing of since the game summit last year?
  13. My main is a sage healer, and I've come to enjoy it quite a bit. PVE is my main focus so to me it's that the ops team is as good as it's healers, and my partner and I have pushed through some pretty intense fights and kept everyone standing. Healers are what make good groups in my opinion for that very reason. If they can't manage their resources and pay attention to everything around them, the group will fail. Top healers know their teams and every move that's made even without seeing it. Healer all the way.
  14. Exactly what I've been trying to find out! Thank you Eric
