  1. Have only done one wz at 70, but did a bunch levelling. SS is feeling pretty lack luster. A bit more durable, but am wondering why I'm not playing merc/mando for ranged tbh. I did 4.5k dps and was the highest damage, but it didn't feel at all bursty, rather it felt like a sustained spec. A big aimed shot crit seems to be about 20% of the health pool opposed to about 25% in 4.x, trickshot hits like a wet noodle too. Never realised how often I used quick shot when moving either... Played sab briefly, and it just didn't feel right, not sure why. Might give it another go though.
  2. Your level; 65 Roughly Average Item Rating; Everything is 208, PvP set though, so have set bonus Discipline; Sharpshooter Gunslinger Companion; Senya Companion role; Tried heal and dps, damage for trash, up to gold mobs, heal for longer fights (bosses) Companion Influence level; 50 Which Mission or Star Fortress are you playing (Solo Mode? Heroic Mode?); Just did Belsavis SF, Heroic Mode, no buffs as if doing it for "the one and only" Your personal experience while playing this content; Wiped once on the Praetorian due to not paying attention to what I was doing, prenerf I just burned the boss and ignored adds for a bit of excitement, had to actually kill adds now. The Ephermis room was a touch sketchy, Senya was struggling to keep up with heals, had to use heroic moment and a med pack, but got through first time. Hindsight says I could have done this way easier with a little thought though. The Hardest part of the FP was the third reactor room, wiped 3 times I think, before putting together a strat. The Exarch was pretty straight forward, interrupt and kite, one shot. Overall, I would say this is probably a pretty good level of challenge. I was probably a little under geared, but slinger is pretty strong in solo pve so evens out. About me; Really challenging solo pve content I love, but am not really a pve'er, mainly spend my time pvping.
  3. So I did my first pve (other than levelling and xenoanalyst) since before 2.0 hit. New char, new server, had got my 190/186 set from crafting and Ziost, put augments on most slots. Thought it was time to try a HM flashpoint. Loaded in to HM Korriban. Told everyone I am a pve noob and didnt know this in HM, to no response (have been around the game since not much after launch but mostly pvp since 2.0 when the gap between pvp and pve gear became such that you needed 2 sets). Up to the second boss without a hitch. First try on second boss; wiped not sure if it was an enrage or if that just happens at about 5-10% health. Had a mara and a sorc that both tended to stand in stupid a bit, but not too much. Sorc quit without a word. Mara wanted to know 'where the heals were'? (I inspected him at this point and he had some pieces of gear with defence/shield/absorb, 198s on those pieces none the less!) Second time around, had another sorc now as our replacement dps, s/he seems pretty competent. We did the bonus boss on the way to going back to the second boss this time. Mara disconnected and didn't come back after 5+ minutes so the tank decided it was time we sought a replacement. Back to the second boss and the replacement dps, an operative, opens from cover with a couple of snipes and a frag grenade, I immediately think 'here comes another wipe' we do down the boss though, I was ready for the enrage somewhat this time. The sorc and I die just before the tank and op finish off the boss though. The last boss, I mess up and didn't have the tank topped up enough when the mass stun followed by big group damage hits. Tank goes down, I quickly res him, but in getting him back to reasonable health, our dps sorc dies, I think I have stuffed it, but the operative, the same one who opened on the second boss using snipe, stealths and pulls off a perfect stealth res, we finish the boss and I appologise. To which I was told it's fine. That was the most anyone talked all fp! So I'm not sure if it is me or the others who are the weird people you find in group finder!
  4. Can't use it while rooted. And of course electronet and stuns as you mentioned.
  5. I have only played Marksman in ranked so far, if I get focused hard then its just a matter of can I last longer than our focus target. That's all you can do in that situation really. If I don't get focused too hard, then generally near top damage. And some good tools to peel for heals or whoever is getting focused. If I am allowed to free cast on a healer, they go down pretty quickly. Conversely, when we go down, we go down real fast. Had a game where the were 2 madness sorcs, and a hatred sin on the other team, was absolutely nothing i could do but watch my health tick away at an alarming rate. Also, found out that PTs if specced can pull form 40m now, that was fun. As always, super dependent on you team as a sniper. As a side note, in around 20 ranked matches today, on sniper and operative, I only saw 1 other sniper, and only 1 merc.
  6. I do see your point on this one, somewhat. If it is to stay as is, we would need the rubberbanding to be removed that causes roll to go on cooldown, and you don't go anywhere/roll on the spot. For Maras/Sents, Slingers/Snipers are already a massive pain at best, and a borderline untouchable at worst. Juggs and sins however shouldn't have too many problems with it from what I have seen so far. Powertechs, umm, yeah not sure what else to say lol. Not sure about dps operatives, haven't come across any good when on my sniper lately, so can't really judge how it would affect them, or how this would interact with crippling slice, their new ability that roots and prevents turning. It's not just melee either though, sorc roots are absolutely killer. I would gladly give Marauders something to deal with snipers, if our roll could be used when rooted, the rest, well they should be able to deal with it.
  7. Been playing my sniper and slinger quite a bit, and got to say we do need something to help us survive. I seem to be getting focussed even more than pre 3.0, and there is very little I can do about it as all our tools work in a 1v1, or 2v2 situation, but are less useful in a larger fight. We certainly do good damage still, but dead dps is no dps. Two changes (or ideas anyway) I would like to see are; An passive or utility to help deal with damage taken when we are removed from cover. This would be along the lines of; Reduces all damage taken by 30%(?) for 6 seconds when you leave cover. Re-entering cover causes this effect to finish prematurely. Can only occur once every 12(?) seconds. The other ability I would like to see and would help us immensely, is the ability to use our major defensive (roll!) when rooted, as so many abilities now have a root attached to them roll is often unusable.
  8. Pretty much posted my thoughts. Not sure about the evasion change, the purge was rather useful, but 75% force/tech reduction will be nice. I can't see my self playing engi any more, with the changes. So, looks like Virulence for arenas and MM for fun.

    A PvP a Day...

First off, I love this thread! Great stuff! Augments is the best thing you can do to help your stats in warzones. Pick an orange set of gear you like and you won't have to augment again! (unless you want to change your look, and left side items when you upgrade.) skill (cunning) augments are really the only choice as a Gunslinger. Regarding accuracy, for dirtyfighting, 110 % tech acc would be too much, most people would say only go to 105%. I use a touch more of sharpshooter, but that is up for debate too. Have fun!
  10. Great video as usual, really thinking about getting my pt to 55. Seeing koozie on the other team is always a scary prospect.
  11. OP, I would have done the same. Ranked match or one that was going down to the wire, I would jump in though. Guy who got 1v1ed just mad.
  12. Yeah, that's just the defensive cooldowns, he forgot leap and smash.
  13. Similar to you bud, pretty over healing in solos, been having more fun on sniper, where if I don't get insta nuked can peel very well for heals. Healing in arenas can be so hit and miss, had rounds with 2.5k hps, and some with 800 hps.
  14. Can be great or terrible, I'm finding. Mainly playing ss. Generally if I survive the opening burst, can do very well especially with a combat sent or another melee that knows how to use roots. Also, we are great at peeling for healers, which is often overlooked. Played a few games as sab, just doesnt have the on demand burst, or control of ss, wall-banging is still a laugh though. Not a fan of being targeted first though, as seems to be the case if there isn't a sage or sorc to focus first.
  15. Loved the H2F while the sage was barriered. Makes me want to go play my commando, good stuff man.
  16. Feeling the need to chime in here... All IMO of course.... Sniper shouldn't be the primary damage dealer, as a lot of people seem to be thinking, and without a team you probably won't be dropping anyone what knows what line of sight is. Of course we have the ability to put up big numbers in all 4 spec, but at the end of the day we are a support class. Here is an example; target is called (say it's one of the healers) One option is (say playing lethality) CG, CD, WB, Cull Option 2 is FB (other healer, or tank), (swap back to target) Shatter Shot, LS, (damage) Both are 4 GCDs, but I know which one I would prefer a sniper on my team to do. I'll leave it with you guys...
  17. Nice video man, some really good stuff there.
  18. You are that guy that is wondering why you can't stun me as I'm capping a node while entrenched, right? Or wondering why you are taking damage through force shroud?
  19. Just a couple of things for others, and maybe yourself to think about; I know you somewhat addressed this, but why energy tanks instead of ballistic dampers? Personally I have few issues with energy regen, so regard this as 'free' extra durability. Alternatively, these points could go into adhesive corrosives. Your max burst combo seems to delay cull too long for my liking, could slot this (and the proc'ed takedown) in after weakening blast, and basically just continue with the rotation.
  20. A lot of the assassin 'problems' are due to controlling the opposition, ie. you (us). If you can force them into a straight dps race, you will have them. My tactics then, for starting a fight with a sin; 1. If you attack a node they are at, straight into hunker down and start capping, forcing them out of stealth, and they cannot cc/control you. 2. If they can open on you before you can hunker down, make distance as soon as you can, and into hunker down. Force shroud (when they are glowy), keep the dps up, but make sure it is white (weapon) damage. Deflection (their 'bubble'), I try to cc then through most of this, ie. a full duration flash bang. But keep in mind that our special attacks have about 105-110% accuracy depending on how much acc you have, if you can pop Illegal mods, this jumps another 30%. So given deflection is 50% defense chance, gives us about 15% chance to miss, not too terrible. Further more, a lot of sins don't bother too much with accuracy, so diversion is pretty useful here too for the acc debuff, hence increasing their chance to miss. Hope this helped. Edit; and of course; keep them at range, you have two knock backs, a root and a roll
  21. To add to this, 2 partisan relics of the same type won't (in my testing) stack (as per the above definition). Might be reasonable to assume it is the same for the conqueror ones.
  22. I'd go for cool under pressure, the +10 energy isn't really a big deal for energy managment, I don't see the need. In the DF hybrid, it may be another story, but one that I have little experience with.
  23. At 50 (in the expansion) my crit chance was 36.xx%. At 52, it is now 29.xx%, interesting to see where this goes.
  24. What I recommend (and just did with my sniper) is buy wh main hand, pull mods, put in your offhand, and then trade that shell + ranked comms for your ewh main hand. Should have enough comms left for another piece or two as well. Edit; other than main hand, just grab the wh pieces, augment and optimise these, and then worry about the elite warhero peices.
