  1. Yeah pretty much what everyone said, stay in the blue circles, you'll be fine and that goes for tanks too. I know some people adopt the strategy of having everyone BUT the tank stand in the blue circles, but from my experience those tanks at were outside the circle got one-shotted as well. It is important to note that since everyone will be standing close to each other, it's not as easy to know which user is getting attacked. DPS and Heals need to pay more attention, it's so easy to get caught up in the ability rotations that a player might not realize they've taken the aggro of the attacking robot until it's too late. This is especially true in groups with no tanks!
  2. I'm trying to figure out if this is a serious post because if I were to build a straw argument against level-syncing for Flashpoints....it wouldn't look that much different from what the OP said. First, not everyone who is under level 45 is un-skilled, in fact most of the people that I am grouped with who are a lower-level than me have some of experience doing Tactical Flashpoints, few have had more! I get that when having lower-level players in your group, it's a YMMV type of deal, and some of them might lack the abilities (such as interrupts) that can prove useful in a boss fight, but for the most part they can be worked around as long as everyone communicates with each other. Conversely, not everyone who is lvl 65 knows what they're doing when it comes to Flashpoints. Like PVP, these are some of the drawbacks of queuing instead of working with members of a guild/friends list. Second and this more of a question but what if a low-leveler eventually makes it up to 50+.....do you take them off the list...because according to the OP...skill is based on level....hopefully the OP doesn't place people on the ignore list who are lower-level without even grouping with that user. My third point is actually more of a criticism of the game post-patch but you can't expect players to 'learn their class' by doing class/planetary story-lines because the game is so much easier now. You can go through the entire main storyline without upgrading your gear. casting a 'cc' or using stims/medpacs. Finally, if the game is for enjoyment then don't take things like having some lower-level players in your Tactical Flashpoint group that seriously. Unlike a real job, your livelihood is not affected by the composition of your TFP group and if it is....that's your problem.
  3. My guess is that Bioware will give you a choice between your old love-interest from the character origin storylines and your new love-interest from KOTFE. Though having both would be an interesting option as well. Let me tell you guys something about Tora, even my 100% LS Jedi Sage Healer/Galahad archetype...force-choked Tora...
  4. It does seem as though Lana acts much colder to Republic players during the Ziost Missions and KOTFE than during SOR (she's much friendlier to Empire players). I guess that makes sense as time would have passed between the end of SOR and the Ziost mission, even more so when KOTFE begins because of the five-year gap between Ziost and when Lana frees you from the carbonite. I still love the part where your character can flirt with Lana when a station is about to explode or something and she's like "Don't start. Let's Just Go" and the influence header reads "Lana Beniko is not amused."
  5. You can decline a grouping if the composition of the team has a certain amount of low-level players on your team that make you feel uneasy or doesn't have roles like a healer/tank. I've done A LOT of Tactical Flashpoints since the level since and it's not that bad. I mean sure there are FP's like Manaan and CZ FP's that can give you fits if you are grouped with low leveled players or newbies or both. But as long as I'm not doing the hardest FP's on the list, I've had a lot of success doing Tacticals with low-leveled players/newbies. Communication is key!
  6. You no longer need a group to do the Heroic 2+ missions. I should add the caveat that when 4.0 patch came, I already built up a lot of presence and I found all the datacrons (save for the fleet) so my companions were very pretty strong. I didn't do the Heroics on a toon with no boosts that came from my other toons, so YMMV. In terms of being a good teammate, I have three tips for doing group activities such as Flashpoints. 1) Tell your teammates that you're new when entering a Tactical Flashpoint (don't bother with Hard Mode yet), whether you're a noob in general or just to that particular mission. Personally, I don't have a problem with new players, I was a noob at one point, but I hate surprises like going into a boss-battle* and finding out that half my team has never faced that boss before. Hopefully, in Tactical Flashpoints, your team-mates will be friendly....can't really say the same for Hard Mode though their frustration with a someone who's green behind the ears in their group is understandable. 2) Know your role, if you're a tank, tank, if you're a healer, heal, if you're damage/DPS, just hit things. Nothing will get you on the bad side of your teammates more than not doing your role. In Tactical Flashpoints, you don't have to b perfect but you've got to at least know what you're doing in regards to your class. Also, know your abilities as well and how they fit into your role....plenty of threads on this forum that'll educate you. If you have the choice, I always recommend new players taking a damage/DPS role. On another note, know the MMO vernacular so that when teammates say things like 'cc the gold', or 'adds' you'll know what they're talking about. 3) Stick with the team, don't wander off and unless you're a tank don't attack a mob first. Even if the team is all DPS, since you're new, let someone else strike the first blow. We all make the mistake of wandering too close to a mob, it happens, but you'll be the least popular person in the room if you keep doing it time and time again. * For boss battles, I will say this, stay away from the red/blue circles, don't stand near the edge, and interrupt the insta-kill (though in Tactical they just really hurt) move, hopefully, your teammates will tell you what those are, along with the 'schtick' of every boss. If we're talking about PVP....I'll let someone else answer that because I'm pretty new at that as well lol.
  7. The good news is that this is an easier mission now as it is easily soloable. The bad news is that it is an incredibly tedious mission to do by yourself and a comp so I'd still recommend grouping with someone.
  8. Yep, this is pretty much one the few weekly heroics that I dread. I play on Jedi Covenant and there might be a few times where you can get lucky and only have one other person there but they need to cut the respawn time by at least half. Luckily most people I run into down in the tunnels are more than willing to team up, but even then it could take upwards of 15 minutes to complete and for a heroic that simplistic....
  9. While Ashara is not the worst companion in the game, I do think she was misplaced. IMO, Ashara would have worked much better as a companion for the Jedi Consular. Her spirited personality would have created a much more interesting dynamic with the Consular than with the Inquisitor. I hear what people are saying with regards to Ashara working better for a LS Inquisitor and that's true to an extent. But from my experience with playing as a LS Inquisitor (which wasn't all that long ago), I didn't quite feel the connection between the two like I did LS Warrior and Jaesa.
  10. This is a tough one, but I gotta go with Guss Tuno. While it is true that he was only a part of my Smuggler's life from Hoth onwards....when he was my companion...it was nothing but fun. Not to mention the fact that prior to the 4.0 patch, he was one of the better healers in the game. I just wished he was with my Smuggler from the beginning.
  11. I can see the logic in bumping up some of the rewards for the heroics on Makeb because it is a pretty substantial difficulty spike IMO from the heroics on Corellia to the heroics on Makeb. Maybe they can throw in some more crystals. But if I were to list my grievances with SWTOR right now in the order with which I'd want them to be addressed, that would be at the bottom.
  12. Some of them aren't, Ashara, DS Jaesa are rather immature. I haven't done the Nadia romance in awhile (and don't have time to look at the compilation video on YT) so I don't remember every line of dialogue between the Consular and Nadia but I do remember Nadia saying that Tharan reminded her of her father and that what she had with the Consular was different. It is important to remember that even though Nadia becomes a companion after Belsavis, she has been a part of your crew since Act 2. She's not a stranger by the time she's a companion. Sure it might have resulted in better chemsitry had your Consular been able to charm her before Voss, but I don't view it as the creepiest romance in the game. This is my opinion based on how I viewed my Consular, I'm certainly not going to treat it as fact.
  13. I always envisioned my Jedi Consular to be in his early to mid 20's so I didn't find anything creepy with regards to the Nadia Grell romance. Though I can certainly understand how one would feel differently if a player viewed their Consular as a much older character and to a certain extent the same logic could be applied to the bounty hunter and Mako. For me,that honor goes to the Male Sith Inquisitor and Ashara if one choose all of the flirt options...the Inquisitor comes off as incredibly creepy. I cringed at some his lines. I guess to an extent the Female Imperial Agent and Vector has some creepy elements to it but for what it's worth, I thought it was one of the best romances in the game.
  14. Speaking as someone who is a PVE'er with no experience in PVP, I too was a little put off by the requirement of PVP gameplay in order to unlock a companion for PVE. For awhile I just didn't do the mission since, despite its patriotic zeal, Forex wasn't necessary. But over the past few days (the patch might have had something to do with it) I decided to give it a go. After doing the required 20 matches, I must say....it wasn't that bad of an experience. While it is true that my first few matches were a chore to get through, once I understood objective play, earned enough commendations to get some PVP gear as well as start using some of the PVP stims....I was having some fun with it. Unfortunately, it didn't lead to any wins as my teams were 0-20 and the closest my teams came to winning was one turret match where we got the imps to 28%...but I was far from the worst player and I even got some MVP votes which were pretty cool. To be honest, I'll probably be doing some more warzones in the future, especially until the new chapters come out. I might even start using war zones as a means for my newer toons to get XP. Besides the lack of...winning, the only unpleasant aspect of doing the PVP Warzones in order to get Forex was the fact that I was subject to Huttball... tl;dr- I was a PVE'r who was hesitant to do the PVP Warzones to get Forex, but after I manned up and got the queue going, I had some fun with it and will likely do so again.
