  1. YES! found the option - in the interface editor "hide when no target"
  2. I'm returning to this game after being gone for years. Is there a way to hide the target frame when I'm not actually targeting anyone? It's making me crazy to have it on my screen but just this grey empty box taking up space for no reason. Thanks!
  3. Ditto to this complaint. I feel ripped off that when I wear the trench coat it looks absolutely ridiculous but in the preview it looks nice
  4. I was complaining the other day about how stupid the current 4 piece set bonus is. Someone said that snipers are wearing 2piece pvp and 2 piece pve these days - is that true?
  5. OK more questions.... 1. My gear is all 69 stuff with augs. I have one 72 piece and the 2 piece set bonus. I'm doing 2500 dps on a raid boss with limited movement (that was my dps on the 1st boss in TFB on HM). My surge and accuracy (both versions) are slightly under what they should be and I am having a hard time finding gear with accuracy on it. Almost all the gear seems to have alacrity on it. Because of that I am ripping out the lvl 69 alacrity enhancement and putting in a lvl 66 power/accuracy enhancement - it's only 6-7 less power, but without those enhancements I wouldn't have enough accuracy. How are other snipers getting enough of that stat? Is 2500 DPS about where I should be with that level gear? 2. My relics are lvl 50 pvp relics but they have a lot of power on them. I know there are relics that you can buy with basic coms that are "on use" relics that grant more power. I am wondering if they are really that much better - I'd be losing around 150 power to gain all the "on use" power of those relics - but not be able to use them very often. I also hate "on use" relics to begin with, which is why I haven't switched yet. Should I switch or just wait until I can grat relics in a raid? 3. I feel like I'm ready for some advanced tips and tricks - have any for me ?? 4. I tried to PM Paowee, but it says he isn't accepting PMs - is he not around anymore?
  6. UGH....right when I thought I was getting a handle on stuff... how much more dps is the hybrid spec over the MM one? I've never even played lethality - not even while leveling. Also - @paowee or anyone else - earlier in the thread you said something about "using Sniper Volley "properly" - what exactly is using is properly...SOS, FT, SV, SOS, FT? That's how I've been doing it - or if TA is coming off CD soon I'll wait and use TA and then what I just said.
  7. You both have been really helpful. RE: moving - I guess maybe I'm still thinking in a WOW mindset - there was tons of constant movement in a lot of boss fights. I'll just have to do some raids and see how things pan out.
  8. Thanks for the heads up on that - I wouldn't have noticed it probably otherwise. Did my first raid last night - it was story mode and nothing challenging as far as mechanics, I continue to struggle with the exact timing of adding in extra things to the rotation (particularly the timing of orbital strike since it is a long cast - I guess it is meant to take the place of a snipex2?). I did much better with the dot - mainly because I downloaded that ToR Assistant and it gives an audio queue 15 seconds after every time I hit the dart keybind. Some questions now that I've got a whole one raid under my belt... 1. use of dart - if it's multi targets do you dot up all the targets? I realize it's situational, but would multi-dotting be a DPS increase? 2. on the move abilities - my motto when dpsing is to never stop shooting (when possible) - what do you guys do when running? other than rifle shot what abilities are worth using? 3. i can't think of the name of it, but the probe ability that gives you limited protection from damage...i always assumed that was like a 15-20% reduction in damage - the tooltip says "moderate" - i guess i assumed 15-20% because that's the amount of some of the tank CD protections i have on other toons - anyone know what the actual amount is? from what i was hearing from other snipers in the raid last night, they seemed to use it more as an (almost) outright immunity to some damage. that's it for now i guess...but i really do appreciate the information. i'm trying to take it all in and get used to everything.
  9. Hello - I was hoping I could get some answers to a few questions I have. Tonight, I'll be doing my first operation in SWToR (I've been playing since launch, just never raided). A quick preface - I've recently quit raiding in WOW (top 40 guild), which I say only to make a point that I understand raiding, but am just new to this game. I've been looking around lately trying to find a good source of information about raiding and snipers. I've found bits and pieces so far, but I still have some issues that I was hoping could be cleared up: Here are my questions: 1. Are CDs on the GCD - like Target Aquired? 2. Laze target -something we use? I've never seen it mentioned in any of the stuff I've read 3. I read that a 36/3/7 spec which places an emphasis on dart damage is the best spec - however, I find myself continually forgetting about it because it's so hard to see buffs/debuffs on target and it's even more difficult if there is more than one sniper (can't tell which dart is mine). I am thinking that maybe I should switch back to the other spec that doesn't include the longer dart . Thoughts? Although maybe my next question will help me with the problem... 4. TOR Assistant - does anyone use it? Apparently it can track buffs/debuffs and CDs - if I can get it working what should I track with it - I know I want to track the duration of target acquired, shatter shot (if I have to put it up), and dart - what about proc buffs any of those I should be worried about? Anything I'm forgetting? 5. What about stims and adrenals? I am unsure what the best options are for me to have - I can't find any lists of what I need to have. Can you "pre-pot" (I forget if those are called stims or adrenals, but it's the one that you take mid fight for 20 seconds or so) - meaning use one right before the pull and then use one again mid fight when the CD is up? 6. The guild I joined gave me a run down on the difference between accuracy and tech accuracy (accuracy would be most of my shots and tech would be the dart) - do I need 110% accuracy for both versions? 7. what is the stat weight of Cunning vs Power? For example - right now my gear is pretty bad - when is it better to take a piece with less cunning but more power or when should I take a piece that has more cunning than what I have but I have to sacrifice power for crit? 8. I still find the rotation confusing and it definitely isn't muscle memory for me yet. I was wondering if someone would go through what the correct rotation is - with out using abbreviations. Is it a priority system or more of a strict rotation? In 4 man flashpoint bosses I find it hard to keep anything going because there is a lot of moving and/or interrupts that put me out of cover. I sometimes find myself only having time for a single snipe before an ambush or SoS is coming off CD, but I never see snipe in any rotation list as a single - I always see it listed as a something you do twice in a row - so clearly I'm getting thrown off somewhere. I also struggle with when to use my CDs - In WOW I would use everything on the pull (to go with my pre-pot) and then use them again as soon as they were available - or depending on the length of the fight hold them for a key point of the fight. Thanks in advance...
  10. I did just find a thread (by you I think) about a 36/3/7 spec that was full of good information. I guess this forum is the main place that new ideas and theorycrafting are kicked around?
  11. I asked this question before at level 50, but I have found that many of the links are not updated or gone completely: Where is the best place to get reliable, accurate sniper raiding information? There's tons of info I'm finding out there, however, I don't know who is a credible source and who is not. I am finding a lot of differing information regarding specs and things like whether or not to exit cover for an instant snipe (I read a thread on this forum that made a convincing argument against that). There is no sticky in this forum about raiding, theorycrafting and/or the best DPS spec, so I am guessing there isn't anyone here who is considered an authority - or just no one has bothered to write one? Is there a SWToR version of WoW' s "Elitist Jerks"? Where would I go for the most up to date theory crafting discussions? Where would I go for basics? I'm just now getting into raiding in SWToR, so I would appreciate anyone that could point me in the right director. EDIT: I just came across SWTOR Mechanics which seems to look reliable and credible - opinions? Their sniper guide is outdated too though
  12. Thanks for the advice, So I'm supposed to go back and do old raiding content in order to gear up for the new stuff that is 5 levels higher? No wonder I couldn't figure out what to do - sounds really counter intuitive to go back and do old raids to get new gear. There are no level 55 flashpoints that I can do.... like normal level difficulty and then harder difficulty? Also what is "basic gear"? How will I know when I'm ready to move on? You're telling me that anyone that raided at lvl 50 already has better gear than they did as a new 55? I'd rather buy the stuff... I already know about how to work in a group. I've been raiding in a top 40 ranked 25 man guild for 6 years (in WOW)
  13. I have been playing SWTOR off and on since the game launched, but I've always quit after I got to the level cap because I just never knew what to do after that and at the time I was already heavily involved in raiding in WOW. Now I've hit 55 with my sniper and I just don't know what to do now. I have done some searching online and can't really find a guide that is helpful - everything I find seems to be about what to do at lvl 50 or is written in so much jargon that someone new to SWTOR end game has no idea what it all means. I am not interested in doing dailies or any kind of rep grinding (that's a HUGE reason why I quit WOW), so I'd like to know what my options are outside of that. What flashpoints should I be doing and in what order? I know nothing about the raids or what order those work or even how to find out what gear level I should have. I found a website called dulfy.net that has tons of info - but it assumes the reader already knows all the jargon and abbreviations. What I really need is just a basic guide to SWTOR end game - where do you go? what do you do? how do you know when you're geared enough for the next level? what are the order of raids and their difficulty? what is the order of flashpoints and their difficulty. Thanks in advance for anyone that can point me in the correct direction.
  14. bumping this thread instead of starting a new one. not sure if anyone that replied in this thread still would be interested or not.
