  1. I want to apologize. I know I was a little sarcastic in earlier posts, and want to make a better change for the future.
  2. Seeing as how you must have overlooked this, I mentioned quite a few features that I enjoy about this game. This makes it therefore not a rant, just my opinion on the game overall. Good Day!
  3. I refuse to entertain online trolls for the world to see because they don't want(or need) to be bothered by this. I will happily discuss this with you with the mail system if you so choose. You have taken this thread, which is simply me trying to share my point of view on this game as a whole, and instead have turned it into this *I'm better than you!* catastrophe. I would like to extend my apologies to any and all who saw your posts, as they are deliberately trying to bash my own. Sadly the first didn't work, and the same with the second, although I won't go into detail about that(at least not here) because again, I don't entertain online trolls. Good day!
  4. "What? Wait. . .What? Please look up Dark Age of Camelot (DAoC http://darkageofcamelot.com/) before making such claims. It's great that you consider Warhammer as such, but wow. Really? Not being rude, but in a post where you try to show your "MMO Credentials" at the beginning it just seems strange. Entitled to your opinion though good sir! " I haven't really gotten into DAoC yet, just haven't found the time. I call Warhammer the "father" because it is a very old game, but still active. It's very much based off of RvR(realm vs realm, or good vs evil if you will). It has, in my humble opinion, mastered PVP. But, I will take a look at DAoC, my friend, and compare. If it is as good as you say, I will have to reconsider my own opinion!
  5. Here we go...I refuse to have this pointless back and forth arguing between myself and you, kid. 1. Obviously you haven't taken a decent look at the community in order to be able to gauge what happened for Customer Service. Many different people have agreed me in different threads that I don't care to list out that the CS is terrible. 2. "Accidents happen?" I suppose so many that they put up a message saying DO NOT BUY THIS! on the launch screen earlier. So many that they "refunded" me. Or at least said they did. 3. I had the security question set up since I joined TOR(months before the game was in beta, and all we had to look at was pages of trailers). Naturally, and since I didn't need a security question until now, I would forget one. 4. I'm only pointing out that it is harder to pvp as a lower level compared to a higher one, and it is not recommended. I see that you extrapolated my reasoning, quite unnecessarily too. 5. "As for your 50 PT, you obviously don't know how to level". Take a closer look at what you just said there, kiddo. 6. I still have a subscription, I am merely pointing out that eventually, slots will run out. It will happen later, although it may take a while depending on how you choose to use the GTN. It will happen. What then? That's my question stated earlier. 7. Let me give you a short lecture on the structure of leveling in an MMO or a MMORPG. You seem to not fully grasp what it is comprised of. Let's use, say, PWI for my example. You do storyline quests until you level up. If you run out, THEN AND ONLY THEN do you grind, and that's for a short while. That's assuming that you are not on a PVP server. If you are, you may feel free to do PVP as you wish. My point was that class quests provide very very little experience in the long run. You can find yourself, going off solely class quests, at level 8 battling level 14s in TOR. I don't care how much some armor set costs. 8. I am merely stating that people vastly extrapolate on selling items, in ways much similar to you extrapolating my own reasons. There is an actual term for this informal fallacy in your argument, and it's called Straw Man. If you don't believe me, I will be more than happy to explain logical thinking to you. 9. If you believe that "you shouldn't go for it until you get decked out" then why have open world on that particular planet in the FIRST place? Or maybe allow only a small group of levels(30-40) on that area. But that defeats the point of helping out younger players. 10. "It's the real world" Take a look at what you just said, and come back to me later. You'll thank me. 11. "hang in there"? It has been MONTHS since it was last up. There is no reason why it should've been taken down in the first place. 12. The Game Makers had the (in my point of view) audacity to go so far as listing out how much it would cost per month if I bought the larger subscription packages. Why not simply make a sub. plan that lower monthly cost? More money, at least on a monthly basis. It's spelled Kialundi. And I am subscribed. Also, I honestly thought that, for a moment, you were just trying(although in a bad way) to extrapolate my arguments. You turned this thread into a duel, if you will, between my point of view and yours. Yes, your arguments are completely illogical. I will put this into a Hypothetical Syllogism for you(that's a formal way of an argument for you, seeing as how you clearly would have spotted your errors if you had known what to look for). We must consider that if any argument is misrepresenting someone else's, we must conclude that it is illogical(due to the straw man fallacy). Your arguments are misrepresenting mine, as I have shown throughout this reply. Therefore, we must conclude that your arguments are illogical. This past syllogism was logical due to Modus Ponens.
  6. I understand that there are quite a few other posts like this, so I will just establish this all in a fine print. The subscribing community here has felt a severe injustice. The fact that we have to pay more just for some new planet with 5 more levels(so we can just throw away the things that all of us 50's have worked for so far in terms of gear and such) is absurd. I suggest, with many others, that subscribers receive the "expansion" without cost. BUT IT'S ALL GONNA BE ON THE CARTEL MARKET!!! Is the new look that most players have felt, myself included. This game is quickly shifting from a Pay to Play to a Pay to Win. I would request that you change this policy, and stop letting the Cartel Market from dominating the SWTOR all of us know and love. Thank you. As a further note, I don't expect that anyone with any real authority will respond to this. I don't expect to hear anyone take action with this. After all, this is just some guy somewhere with a computer! But, I would expect that they hear of this issue at least. Requiescat en Pace. Goodbye SWTOR. Hello Cartel Market!
  7. I am simply establishing that I am not new to this sort of thing. Please, enlighten me as to what other MMORPGs you have in mind. And for all those out there that are wondering why I haven't put up WoW on my list, I will explain. WoW ripped off Warhammer in a HUGE way, as Warhammer came out in 1985, before Blizzard was a company. It's still going strong. You can look at countless videos discussing Content, PVP, RVR, and so forth on Youtube if you like, and how Warhammer beats WoW every time with the sole exception of the amount of players.
  8. I am in favor of BioWare cracking down on the bashing myself, there. It is, I feel, a relevant issue that should be dealt with as soon as it is conveniently possible.
  9. In this game, I tend to not heal if I get a choice between heals or tanking. In PVP, as soon as you heal, people will mark you, thus having everyone on their side make you a priority target. Not good. Tank is nice. If you go for a tank, I suggest you do a Powertech(advanced class of a Bounty Hunter). My next choice would be a Juggernaut(advanced class of a Sith Warrior). Inquisitor/Agents just aren't built for tanking.
  10. I posed this question to my fleet, and they all bashed me down, calling me names that I shouldn't try and think about. I thought I'd try it here instead. For my Guardian, I want to be the best in PVP. I want to do as much DPS as possible, while still having enough potential to be a small-time tank. I've heard i should either do Defense or hybrid Defense and Focus. What do you all think?
  11. Lastly, I really don't care if you all think my arguments are unfounded. I simply do not care about your opinion on my experience. I am simply putting up my point of view. I don't really care about how you choose to take it. And to the part about the possibility of me simply being on a bad server, I will edit in a little about how I feel about Character Transfer.
  12. I would just address this one particularly. I formed my conclusion when I was playing my PT through to 50. I do know that the bonus series exists on all the planets you named above. I will do a little more research next time to see about the Hoth/Nar Shaddaa, and Alderaan bonus series in particular. I am simply stating that when I was playing through, I generally found myself lagging by one or two levels behind the quest level. Maybe the class missions don't give enough compared to the others, I do not know, nor would I presume to know.
  13. After looking at all of your replies, the good and the bad, a few stood out that I would like to address. For the one attacking the "Hear me I'm experienced" Well...you can't really argue against that. I'm just establishing that I am not some new person to an MMO or an MMORPG. For the one saying that my arguments lack value and depth, please further explain that by giving specific examples in my previous text, so I can change or modify those to have the value and depth requested. I am more than willing to discuss these. I just put up my opinion to let everyone else know what they're getting into if they so choose to play this game.
  14. Now before I go into this, I just want to establish a little background about myself and some of the MMOs or other games I have played and enjoyed: Warhammer, Aion, AVA, Combat Arms, Runescape(for a few dreadful hours), Runes of Magic, Perfect World, LOTRO, AQW, Everquest, and ED are probably the most familiar to you all, as the gaming community. I hope now that you can understand that I have some experience with this, and would just not argue against me that I don't know what I'm talking about. Now, if you looked at the title, you'd probably think, as I would, that this is just some other user ranting. It isn't just a voicing of a complaint, it's also an opinion in general. I liked several facets of SWTOR, and hated others! It's a fact of life. But, in this case, I just feel that it was....I don't know....disappointing in a few areas, and I just wanted to make this to alert the GM"s if they haven't been already. A few things that I just wanted to bring to light. First and foremost, I like this game. I do, really. Very much. However, there are problems that just have to be exposed that really make me angry. Probably a common one: Lousy customer service. And that's a HUGE understatement, if I can say so myself. I was logging onto the website and it would ask me a security question. I had forgotten it, so I thought to myself "Okay, I'll refresh, and it'll have another question for me, so I can log in and change the first one." Nope, same one every time. So, I called Customer Support. Would you all like to know how long it took? TWO HOURS. That's CRAZY for a game. NO, I do NOT want to hear how "My call is very important to you all. " That's a lie. The guy finally got on and so, and at least he was friendly enough. Anyways, how can it even take two hours for my call to get off hold? No! Just....no. Either TOR is understaffed(which I highly doubt) or that many other people call there at the same time(also doubted). Enough of calling stuff. Let's talk for a minute about sending in tickets. I have a 50 PT right now, and I was looking at legacy stuff. I, along with many other unfortunate users, accidentally bought Speeder Piloting I. I sent in a ticket, and they said that no, they couldn't refund me, for whatever reason. That's a lie. They could have just gotten online and mailed me the funds necessary. Come on! That's that simple! I said as much in a second ticket. They replied that they would(and did) refund me. I never noticed that they refunded me. I never received any money from them. None. Just the mail ingame saying that they did. *sigh* Enough of Customer Service, let's move on to the actual game. I will say that I have found, through playing many characters(just the PT is my main), two tracks to getting to 50. 1. Getting to the fleet and excessively PVPing (which gets shockingly repetitive after a while) only pausing to do class quests. You get your gear and stuff from the GTN, the Greedy Trade Network. 2. You do EVERY SINGLE POSSIBLE QUEST(with the exception of some heroic 4's). You will find everything you need on those worlds, although you will generally fall behind the quest level by one or two, causing you to(gasp) grind your way. If you simply just want the class quests and use the Greedy Trade Network(more on that later), that won't work out. I tried that, and wound up battling level 14's as a level 8. Not good. I had to start over completely. This needs to be changed, and fast. Next, the Galactic Trade Network. I really feel that there shouldn't be a limit to what your auctions should be. The only way my 50 makes money is by selling rank 5 companion gifts on the GTN for the list price. It's a long and hard job, only bringing anywhere from 2-4K per auction. Not to mention that other users on the GTN are evil little things. I was using my 22 Marauder today, and saw a lvl 20 chest guard for 75K. NO! To sum this up, the GTN should have no limits as to the amount of auctions one should be able to use. I doubt this will ever happen, however. Now, let's move on to PVP. More Specifically, the Open Areas. The open areas are barren of other-sided people, the only one I found was on Tatooine, where I was abused by a 50 trooper. Go figure. Now, WZ PVP. It's alright actually! I consider Warhammer "The Father of MMO PVP." But this is a pretty decent job actually. Nice going. However, for any new people, I suggest not touching PVP until you're around level 20. Otherwise, you're just fodder for the 30+ people. I rolled a Sorc, and went to PVP as level 12. Before I knew it, three 40 knights surrounded me, flipping and slashing everywhere, sensing rightly that I was an easy kill. Yup. To sum up, there's nothing that can really be done, but maybe make it a bit more evenly matched against similar levels? Now, Let's discuss the community. Yeah, NEVER ASK ANY CLASS SPECIALIZATION QUESTIONS ON THE FLEET. THOU SHALT NOT. The community across multiple servers will bash you into the ground. I even learned a few new words for my vocabulary. But seriously, if you want people calling you names that, if I wrote them in here, would get me banned from the game permanently, don't ask anything on any fleet. I have seen people bashed to tears. This possibly the worst community next to Battlefield Heroes. Also, THOU SHALT NOT BE A LEVEL 10-15 ON THINE WZ's! You remember that Sorc from earlier? I logged in to a WZ, and the first things I heard were just groans and complaints from teammates about how I should leave and I was worse than useless and such. But hey, I don't really mind guard duty myself. To sum up, don't speak or do WZ's until you're through with Coruscaunt/Kaas. Now, you say, I am simply on a bad server, and should transfer. So let's talk briefly about Character Transfer. I personally am in favor of Character transfer. Mhm. I took advantage of it when it was first up, and shifted my characters to a PVP server, as I tend to enjoy PVP myself(If you'll remember that I mentioned that I played Warhammer up there, you'll understand why I like PVP). Unfortunately, it's not up anymore, and they have given no reasons for this that I have found. My friends from Europe/other parts of America would like to transfer to my server or I to them(we haven't decided) so we can play together without starting over. To sum up, PLEASE BRING BACK CHARACTER TRANSFER! Thank you. Let's talk about Specific Characters. I do have to give props to SWTOR for different storylines. They make you care for at least some of your companions. Good job there SWTOR! Let's finally move on to the Subscription/Cartel Market. I will not delve too deep, and just give my opinion on this. It is a cash grab. End of story. I think that TOR should only be a F2P, with people that were subscribers before it went F2P and people who bought collector's edition and such getting vastly more Cartel Coins than F2P freeloaders. The idea that I have to PAY for things like Unify colors and More than 2 quickbars(May be mistaken on the amount) and having more than two characters is absurd. Come on, really? I personally do not like the Cartel market, but I see that it's very popular, so I won't really complain about it. If you all want a P2W, go for it. OVERALL I like this game in small amounts. 7/10. Yay. Go nuts and Merry Christmas!
  15. 1. Enable Character Transfer 2. (this is a long one) The way I've seen it on leveling a character is one of two ways. A: Going on every single mission there is, without question, except maybe the Heroic 4's on each planet. This option will generally leave you one level behind the level the mission is intended for. Or B: Making it to Level 10 by using option A, then pvping to the maximum level of the planet, completing said planet's class missions, and then doing pvp until you receive the level of the max of the next. (Example, pvp until lvl 15/16, doing Dromund Kaas class missions, PVP until level 20, doing Balmorra missions). I would prefer that SOLELY class missions provide experience needed to push to level 50, and side missions provide credits, gear, etc.
  16. BH has a pretty awesome storyline too, with a really large plottwist near level....idk something around 40. The BH is a very dynamic character, although Mako is a little weak(she is a total computer nerd...if you don't believe me, just listen to when you first are introduced to her.) I'm doing a sniper now though because i've heard the storyline is good, but I still say so far BH is better(albeit my sniper is only 12).
  17. I asked this question on the fleet and everyone was saying; "YOU **** **** ****** ****. GO MEDICINE YOU *******. ******!" And other stuff. I totally agree that healers are important, but I want to approach this from a dps standpoint. I like to sneak up and unload descisive attacks and stuff. I would NOT want to be a healer because they get greedily snapped up by others. My preferences in this spec: Able to fight both short/long range if I must Solid dmg enough heals to survive, but nothing else So...Lethatlity or stealth?
  18. Side quests are madatory. A great example to use is try playing a bounty hunter through Dromund Kaas on only the storyline, no pvp. You may get a bit into it, but right around your second "contract"(the daughter), you would fail.
  19. Side quests. Apparently optional, at first glance. Sure, I may do them, but I only do the story regularly. I am sorry to my fellow MMORPG or MMO players, but now, side quests are MANDATORY, WITHOUT EXCEPTION. If you need any proof, try any class on just the story line and get through Dromund Kaas or Coruscant, without continuous and repeated help from a higher level for everything. I like this term that the trooper sometimes says "I exist only to serve..." To me, this hints that you are implicitly required to do the side tracks. Just come out and say it, SWTOR staff, SIDE QUESTS ARE MANDATORY. For other MMOS, side quests are completely optional. For example, Warhammer. You can literally do the first half of the game, levelwise, on solely RvR(like PvP to some). And its fun too. Now, TOR is an amazing game, don't get me wrong. I'm just saying that there's no reason for all of the hiding and other stuff that they do... In my humble opinion of having played through dozens of games, this game should still be in beta.
