We're getting new flats because it's more practical for them.
Yes it would be ideal to have fully customizable ships and the ability to buy others. But the fact is a good deal of story prompts and cut scenes are located in those ships and it's probably kinda impossible to give control over the environment to players without game braking issues cropping up.
Giving people an instanced apartment on the other hand is basically just adapting the dev tool they use.
No offense, but I'm fairly certain we could spend all day speculating about technical hurdles that would prevent different features and mechanics from being easily implemented. Maybe I'm being unreasonable, but isn't it better to do it right or not at all? Time will tell, I suppose. Hopefully they went a bit beyond simple customization and are giving us a reason to twiddle our thumbs between loading screens.

quite frankly id rather them give us options to decorate our starship than give us player housing, think of all the decorations BW could allow us to add to our ships, instead of making player housing. the first list they could probably do if they didnt make player housing, the second may be what we can expect from player housing
so let me ask what do you prefer? the first list given to our ships, or the second list to our player housing, or both lists in player housing in the year 2016
As much as I'd love to have a mansion or something on the Imperial homeworld, it's just more practical to add customization to player ships. After we get done decorating and customizing, why would you head home to a planet when your ship has everything you need? Remember folks, SWG housing was both fun to customize and practical. In tor, you don't need crafting machines, you don't need an excessive amount of storage space, you don't need to setup vendors to sell your wares and you don't need to sit through multiple 2-4 minute loading screens.

It is just for legacy titles & surnames. When you open your character screen (bound to C by default) there should be an option to display legacy titles & surnames. You can choose to display your legacy titles and/or your surname under your character's nameplate.
Here is a picture of what I'm talking about if you still need help: Click Here
Hope this helps!
Thank you.

How do you display your acquired titles underneath the player characters name? I see people running around with "Imperial Diehard" and "Bounty collector" displayed below their names instead of the classic "Playername, The jerk". Is there an option for this or is it just for certain titles? Thanks.

What's LOS?

Why can't Bioware act immediately on player feedback when developers like Arenanet can? Also, why on earth would they prioritize an "internal metric" over player feedback?
-
1. Ranked Warzones. People love them.
2. Chat bubbles. Kolto injection to RPers.
3. Server transfers and mergings. Now everyone can go to fatman and have us wait 6 hours just to get in.
4. More legacy stuff.
5. Whatever else people whined about will most likely be added.
Although 1.3 will be a continuation of 1.2's legacy implementation (useless fluff crap) -- it is nice to see basic core game features being added in. I hope 1.4 is dedicated to adding vanity pets, mounts and some fixes to the engines load times if they feel like it.

Ladies & Gentlemen, I present to you the "appeal to ignorance" fallacy. It's unfortunate, but bad logic can have a strong influence on the weak-minded.
These links to "fallacies" are becoming somewhat of an internet meme. It's easier to just say, "I disagree". Anyway, I disagree and stand by what I said. They lost a hell of a lot of people without any stability in sight.

Retention is good.
They lost 25% of their subscribers and theres nothing to indicate that it won't keep falling.
-
Why is it that multiple 50+ page threads can pop up without a single word from the developers (and if they do respond, it's scripted). Meanwhile, you can't shut up the GW devs and their corny sense of humor.

DPS: *Snarl* *Foam at the mouth* *Drool*
Heal: "Sharing is caring!"
Tank: "Scorpion: GET OVER HERE!"

Yes, the game will never die. It is gaining subscribers like none other. Instead of being the biggest MMO failure, it has become the biggest MMO success. By June 2012, we shall see 3.5 million players.
Prime time population shrinks while subscriptions increase? Whodathunkit?

Can you kind of explain what the "link" was? Are you sure the thread was deleted to hide your "proof" or maybe something else in it caused that.
How do you enjoy this great game if you spend all your time on the forums defending how great it is?
Anywho, merge servers and create fun PvP content before this slow bleed turns into a massive wound.

Reasons why fleet is indicative of population:
- PvPers Que from either fleet or ship because of epic load times.
- PvPers que from fleet to have quick access to PvP vendors before and after fights.
- PvEers look for groups at fleet.
- PvE content starts from fleet.
- Crafters have access to mail, market and bank from fleet.
- Most dailies are offered at fleet.
- Top tier vendors are on fleet.
Players go AFK on fleet while waiting for most of the above content to become available.

I read lots of post about people being disapointed that SW dont player houses or similar items, that it's a by the number RPG.
Uh guys. When Bioware claimed something else ?
-
Imagine that, PvP is a big part of an MMO.

Myself.. I am having no problems on my server. Populations are thin and players are scarce and I am exceedingly happy about it. But then again. I also don't like people in general and MMO players in specific so my server's seemingly lower population suits me just fine, even if there are usually 40 odd people (too many) in the republic fleet station at any one time.
I find there are fewer people on the various planets and man let me tell ya, I sure enjoy not having to hear all the drek in general and all the whines about "you stole my harvest node". Makes me very happy.
So if you don't like low server populations, go roll a toon up on a server with a larger population and leave us loners to our [empty] servers so we can be happy.
Oh and BTW.. I don't really care what you think about what I posted.

Why would someone who's anti-social and uninterested in what we think post any thread up on the internet?

I lost OVER 660 with lord scourge. lol
my knight is a goodie-goodie so im sure im wayyyyyy in the negative with scourge
Lord Scourge..?
Did knights also get a companion called, "Captain Kill" or "Commander Nefarious"?
Yeah, I stole that from RLM -- couldn't help myself.

Racial discrimination? Really?
This is why there can not be any open and honest discussions about these kinds of topics in real life. People either try to silence the other person or group if they don't agree with them 100% or they throw terms like this around so nonchalantly and egregiously that it loses any and all meaning.
Ugh /facepalm
This +9001
This man is wise.

so... am i the only one who sees the irony in that the players who by in large are responsible for the low server populations, are the same people who were frothing at the mouth for BW to hasten the release of the game? in light of that can i offer a suggestion to them? quit playing MMOs. they obviously not happy with them. I think we all accept that any new game will never be as developed as the vet games of the genera, however that section of the community is always asking for exactly that. ya it may veiled as some other complacent but when you look at the actual issue they are asking for a game that is years in the feature as far as development time. so ya they are never going to be happy with a new MMO so they should stop asking for them. if a mostly single player game with some multi-player aspects will keep them just as entertained then game developers will in the end make better games as they wont have to deal with the massive roadblocks of setting up a full MMO. i want good games as much as they do. the difference is i am willing to wait for a MMO to get there. if your not stop sending mixed signals saying you are, we will all get better games for it.
and yes I doubt that the majority of that is still here, the Renate of it i am guessing is active on threads similar to this one i.e. the fix this or i rage quit threads.
Did you post in the wrong thread or something? I don't mean that sarcastically -- it's just that none of this was relevant to the discussion.

We all know server merges are needed, Bioware knows server merges are needed, they're never going to happen -- at least not within the next 1-2 years. The character transfers are being offered to prevent the need for server merges, because merging servers is terrible PR.
You will not see it happen.

I've heard nothing but bad news for GW2 as well.
From where, the Swtor forums? Cause I'm on the beta forums right now and it's actually refreshing. A player makes a suggestion, a dev responds, and people discuss things in a civilized manner.
Oh, and the game is absolutely amazing.
-
What exactly is the difference between rated and non-rated? Goodies? Leader boards?
-
Because the game is bad. Rift at least invented some new stuff with the very deep classes and rifts. SWTor is just Classic WoW with Lightsabers.
Way to overreact...
The game also has vibroswords.
Player Housing will be underwhelming

You didn't understand what I posted.
I have to admit, I don't have any idea how the cut scenes work in tandem with the ship. I always assumed that the scenes weren't entirely prerendered because of the player characters armor. I do hope whatever they created is up to our collective expectations, I'm just skeptical that it will be enticing enough to lure us back after we've finished decorating.
