  1. Short answer: It won't effect SWToR. Long Answer: Lucas Arts didn't have anything to do with SWToR, it is an EA/Bioware product. EA/Bioware had a Licensing Contract with Lucas Arts to use the Star Wars Universe as a backdrop for their game. When Disney purchased Lucas Arts/ILM from George Lucas, they also acquired the contract that EA/Bioware had, and cannot disolve that contract without being in breach of the contract, and suffering through the resulting lawsuit(s). SWToR content is all handled by EA/Bioware, and had nothing to do with Lucas Arts, which has now been shuttered by Disney. SWToR is "safe" from Disney until the contract comes up for renewal, or some other company offers Disney so much money to produce a Star Wars game that Disney would be willing to breach the contract with EA/Bioware
  2. The GF is a useful tool, but it could be better. If they remove it, they would need to add something else, perhaps an LFG channel, filtered by level a la AO along with a QT option for FPs/Ops.
  3. I play mostly DPS, but I have a few Heals as well, so I am most familiar with those rolls, and I am currently trying to level a Tank spec'd Jugg. As a healer my pet peeve with DPS players is they don't pick up the stray mobs that the Tank can't hold, or that were outside his taunt range, or that happened to wander into the combat, and start attacking me after I throw a few heals. If the mob is a silver or less, I can usually burn it down by myself, but the DPS characters will be getting no heals untill after it's down. If it's a gold and my cc is off cooldown, he gets cc'd, otherwise I move up next to the Tank, so he can deal with it. When I DPS, if I'm ranged, I position myself to the side, and slightly behind the Heals, so I can keep an eye on them, and if I'm melee, I try to pay attention to the Heals' life bar so I can disengage and attack anything that is attacking the Healer. As DPS, I also work my way from the bottom up, taking out the small stuff first, while the Tank holds the big stuff. I think that if more DPS followed that example, the Tanks and Heals would be more willing to que, and get more enjoyment out of running FPs. I once saw someone, can't remember who, post their motto as a Healer: "If the Tank dies, it's the Healer's fault. If the Healer dies, it's the Tank's falut. If the DPS dies, it's your own damb fault." As a Healer myself I would only change the second line to "If the Healer dies, it's the DPS fault." as the Tank is busy holding onto the big stuff and the DPS should be picking up the strays.
  4. Hello GusVIII, this is a quote from my original post. The issue is with the grade 7 part called Blast Condenser, and the fix will be implemented on the 9th. In the mean time use the Rendili Generator if you still have it, or buy a Grade 5 Generator from the vendor. The grade 7 part is actually dropping your shot damage from the 200 it should be to around 30.
  5. The only thing I could find regarding the removal of stats from color crystals was a comment from Damion Schubert regarding the lvl 10 color crystals on the cartel market just prior to the CM going live, and quoted in an online article. I havn't been able to find the original post, but here is the relevant paragraph. "Currently, these crystals appear in cartel packs with a level 10 requirement, and on the store with a level 35 requirement, in order to access stats roughly equal to a standard level 50 color crystal. It’s worth noting that color crystals are something that the itemization team stopped improving the itemization of shortly after launch, because people really hated losing their signature lightsaber color because it was no longer Best in Slot. We have, incidentally, seriously entertained removing all itemization from color crystals entirely (it makes many problems go away for us), but we didn’t have the time to make such a large change on itemization before this patch went live." The link to the article is http://oceanicgamer.com/2012/10/swtor-color-crystals-bioware-clarify-future/
  6. Well, there's going to be a 6 hour maintenance this week, starting a 1am PDT, which is 4am for me. Would be a nice surprise if they fixed this issue with this maintenance, or at least reset the mission flag on the mission that gives the Grade 6 piece as I suggested earlier. I guess I am a little surprised that this issue isn't being discussed more by the community. I know it only affects an admittedly small portion of the player base, but for those it does have an effect on, it is very nearly game breaking. I havn't even attempted the advanced space missions since the patch as my skill in the missions is borderline at best. The real reason I feel it should be discussed in greater depth by the community as a whole is that this is setting a bad precedent for the people responsible for fixing these issues. It tells them that the community is OK with them taking 2 weeks (from the date of the original incident) to fix a nearly game breaking problem, as long as it doesn't affect the entire community, and lets face it, NOTHING that I am aware of would affect the entirety of the community. So I implore the PvPers and Ops players, and all other members of this community, to get behind this issue, the next time it could be something you value that they will say 2 weeks to. I know how easy it is to fall into the "It doesn't affect me, so why should I care." trap. I've fallen into it myself before, but I say, we, as a community, should be more vigilant toward and supportive of each other's problems.
  7. It's interresting to read the reactions this post is receiving. I wonder what this post would look like if, instead of gear for Space Combat, the patch had broken BIS gear for Ops or PvP, and instead of getting a hotfix followed shortly by maintenance downtime to do a full fix, the players were told to use gear 2 levels below BIS and wait until April 9th to use their BIS gear again? Likely there would have been around 50 different posts, and hundreds of rage quits. Instead, we get told we're "OVERREACT"ing to this problem that is occuring in a "MINOR" and "OPTIONAL" portion of the game. Aren't all loyal customers and fans of this game allowed to expect to be able to use BIS gear in whichever "MINOR" and "OPTIONAL" portion of the game they choose to play?
  8. I am reposting the pertinent information from my earlier post, as I know many people don't read entire threads. I know alot of people sold off their Grade 6 upgrades when they got their 7's, and it has been said that the Grade 5 upgrade would work for the heroic missions. I have a suggestion for the programmers for a workaround on this issue. I'm not sure how difficult it would be to implement, but, could you reset everyone's space combat flags to show that they havn't completed the Aeten Defense/Kalee Fortification missions. Those are the missions that give the Rendili Generator as a reward the first time you clear the mission, and would allow the players who have gotten rid of their Grade 6 upgrades a suitable substitute for the broken Grade 7.
  9. That is correct. Double XP only for NPC's, but I forgot to mention in my earlier post that any XP gained that isn't doubled doesn't effect your current Rested XP. So in my above example, you have 10,000 rested xp and turn in a quest that give 3,000 xp, you would still have 10,000 rested xp that would be awarded when you killed npc mobs.
  10. I know I'm going to be dating myself, but, I liked how Asheron's Call handled PvP. You had your PvP servers where everyone was PvP, and you had your PvE servers, where you could flag yourself as PvP if you wanted, similar to SWToR, but AC had no PvP zones, you couldn't just be walking along and suddenly become flagged because you didn't pay attention to the warning flashing on your screen, and you also didn't become flagged PvP just for throwing a buff or heal on a teammate who was PvP flagged. The guild I was in had 2 lists for rival PvPers. One was a KoS (Kill on Sight) list and the other was KoS&L (Kill on Sight & Loot), as when you killed a rival player, their corpse was lootable, and had a random selection of stuff they had been wearing/carrying.
  11. Hello, and welcome to the game as a Sub. Rested XP, as I understand it, and have seen from experience, works as a bonus for logging out, or spending time in, cantinas and on your ship. You can have a maximum amount of rested XP equal to the total amount of XP to get to the end of your current level, so say it would take 10,000 xp to reach the next level, you could have a max of 10,000 rested xp, even if you are currently at 9,999/10,000 for your current level. This bonus xp, is effectively DOUBLE xp, but only for killing mobs. Quest xp, holocrons, space combat, pvp, etc. are not doubled.
  12. Correct me if I'm wrong, and I know somebody will, but as I understand the planetary comms in 2.0, they will be generic. The comms you get on Hutta will be the same as the one's you get on Corellia, and so, if you spent no comms leveling, you would have a triple boatload of comms once you got to Corellia to spend on that gear.
  13. While I do think the OP was just slightly over the top in his initial post, he does have a valid point. Some people, myself included, enjoy the space combat. Could it be better? Absolutely. Could it be MUCH better? Definitely. I log in every morning before having to get ready for work and do Ascendancy Barrier, and pick up the previous day's space mission, if I hadn't logged in the previous evening to grab it. This morning I log in, and am having difficulty killing the Heavy Fighters. I come here to check to see if anyone else is having problems, and I see this post and find out it's my Blast Condenser that got broke, so I play around. Equipping just the Laser Cannons gives me a RoF of 4 and per shot damage of 100, then equipping the Blast Condenser gives me a RoF of 6 but per shot damage of 30, finally, I remove the Blast Condenser and equip my Rendili Hyperworks Beam Generator and get a RoF of 10 and per shot of 100 with a bonus of +25 to my shields. I think I am actually going to keep the Rendili equipped, even after they fix this bug, at least for Ascendance Barrier. My DPS would drop from 1200 to 1000, but the extra 4 shots per second actually helps clear the minefields better. Bioware, when are you going to introduce craftable only Grade 8 upgrades with a set bonus, like the grades 2, 4 and 6? As to those of you who belittle people like myself who enjoy this small part of the game, the next time they break something you enjoy, DON'T come here QQing about it, it obviously doesn't matter. It doesn't affect EVERYONE's enjoyment. They made it so you can't kill the final boss in an Op, no big, I don't do Op's. They unbalanced PVP, even more than it already is, who cares, I don't do PVP. If I don't play those parts of the game, then they don't matter and can stay broken.
  14. Wow, 23 pages in this discussion. I've been trying to read all the comments looking for someone who rolls on loot the way I do, but haven't seen anyone. I must caveat everyone by saying I gave up after pg 15. The general concensus is that Need is for the player and Greed is for companions/vendor/GTN, I have a slightly different approach to this. If the loot is not in my character's stats, I pass, I'm not going to waste my time keeping track of all my companion's and alt's gearstats. If it's in my stats, but not 100% better than what I'm wearing (ie. all stats are green), I greed the item, unless it's a purple/orange with a graphic I want for myself or a companion. If all the stats are green, or if it's a purple/orange that I want for the look, I ASK if I can roll Need on the item, and further add that I only want it for the look, if that's why I'm asking. The only time I don't roll this way is if I'm in a group running BT/Esseles for Social, then everything is a Greed roll. I have 3 lvl 50's that can do dailys, and 4 toons with maxed slicing, one of which I have designated as my GTN alt. He stands at the terminal, selling all the missions I get with slicing, my alts mail everything to him so I am never competing against myself for bids. If I find something with a cool graphic, or find that my companions are undergeared, I use some creds to get what I need, or craft my own mods
  15. The only time I bought coins was when the market first launched, and you know what I bought? Legacy Unlocks. If I want to play CM roulette, I buy from the GTN, that way I'm spending virtual money for virtual trinkets. All told, since the launch of the CM I may have bought 2 dozen packs, and the new rep system isn't going to make me buy more.
  16. Thank you for replying to my question. I have watched the vids of these missions, it's just that my timing sucks and so am practicing. I was hopeing that I could pick up the mission that I have been successful at during the week and then complete it on the weekend. I only have 1-2 hours a day during the week I can play, and 3 lvl 50's that I want to do the missions on, plus other toons that I am leveling. Guess I'll just have to keep practicing, and once I have them down, grab them on the days they show up. Again, thank you.
  17. I've a question about these missions. I'm a casual player, and only recently decided to do these missions. I have been practicing on the weekends, the only time I have where I can be ingame for more than an hour at a time, and have only been able to complete one mission. I have noticed that the mission only reappears 1 day a week, and after doing some checking in the forums, have realized that this is intentional and not a bug. My question is, if I pick up the mission on the day it is availabe, will it stay in my mission log until I have a chance to complete it, or will it be removed from my log when the mission is no longer availabe? Normally, I would think this was a fairly nonsensical question. Why would a mission disappear from your log unless you abandoned it, but I have heard these mission called both "Weekly" and "Heroic" missions. These missions actually fit neither of the definitions for these terms that I have come to associate with in ToR. In ToR, I have come to associate "Weekly" as meaning that it can only be completed once per week, but is available at the terminals all the time, unless you have already completed it, and the weekly reset hasn't occured. The term "Heroic" has always, in ToR, been associated with missions that require multiple, level-appropriate, people to complete. By ToR definitions, at least as I have come to associate them, these missions are neither "Weekly" nor "Heroic" so why would they not also have the ability to dissappear from my mission log spontaneously?
  18. Just my two creds here. I understand this is a bug in the game, and I empathize with everyone who is currently being affected by this. You bought your chest and helm pieces to create a specific look, and that look is now being messed up. I just hope that when the fix this issue for you, they don't break it for me, as I bought my equipment for the exact same reason. My sniper wears (New)Phantom Chest and (New)Phantom Helm which I bought specifically because the helm removed the hood, and I like the look. I can't stand the hood up armors, and any class who's default armor is hood up, I buy adaptive, HOODLESS armor for ASAP.
  19. I too, would like to add my thanks to all those tanks out there keeping the baddies from splattering me, and, as a dedicated healer, you'd better know I'm watching your health bar like a hawk.
  20. For the love of the Force, DON'T tell them to just add it to CM and be done with it. I understand that, at this point in the life of this game, the CM is the primary revenue generator, and, if the game is to continue, is a necessary evil. However, having the CM the only way to get new content would be the surest way to see me leave. Personally, I would love to see them expand the Legacy system. I am an admitted, and unrepentant, ALTalolic, and thought it was fantastic that I had found a game that rewards me for getting bored easily, and rolling up an new toon, just 'cause. As to the original post, depending on implementation, it could work, but only in a limited fashion. Something along the lines of "The next patch is comming up. Here is what we have that is already included, and here are 'X' things that we have that could go into it. At the end of 'timeframe' the 1 (or 2) options with the most votes will be worked into the patch." In order to keep the voting process simple, it should probably be something along the lines of each PAID subscription gets one vote for the option of their choice, and the subscriber has to have been a PAID subscriber for not less than 3 months, or paid in advance for a minimum of 3 months. My reasoning behind excluding the F2P from the voting process is, not because I don't value the opinions of our F2P friends, but rather I don't want some bozo out there creating up 50 different F2P accounts to get his preferance voted in. Conversely, if they wish to allow F2P accounts to vote, they could implement a voting booth type object on, either the Faction homeworld, or the Fleet, of both, but that has a level restriction of say 40 to interact with it. Granted, people could probably PL a toon to 40 in under a day, don't know, never attempted to PL any of my characters, but this would show a certain amount of commitment to their beliefs, and I could respect that. In either case, it should be restricted to 1 vote per account, and once your vote is cast you are locked out until the next vote is called.
  21. The new 1.6 upgrades can be baught at lower levels, they just can't be used until 50, and they are BoE so you can sent the to other toons. I did that last night, I have a lvl 38 alt that had extra fleet commendations, so I used him to buy one of the upgrades and mailed it to my main.
  22. I think this really depends on which server you are on. I have been subbed since February, and was originally on the Rubat Crystal server, and the community was good. After the server merges I am now on the Ebon Hawk server, and the community there is also very good. You do get the occasional pain in the backside troll, and there are usually, since F2P, the credfarmer bots spamming gen chat on the fleet, but overall, I'd say the community is the best of any MMO that I've played. BTW I have played several which include AC, AO, EQ, AC2Beta, CoH, and WoW. I must caveat everyone by stating that, when given an option, I choose an RP server, as you get a more community minded and mature player base, IMHO.
  23. I would like to start off by saying that your english is VERY good, better than most native "speakers" and I think it's probably because you care how you "sound" in this format. I also applaud you for using an MMO for your study. In an MMO, or any social media where you have subjective annonimity, people tend to show their inner selves, doing and saying things along the lines of what they actually feel/believe rather than what is "socially acceptable". I play on the Ebon Hawk server and I haven't run into anyone not using english in gen chat or group, but that could be because it is an RP server. I have, however noticed that since F2P launched, my ignore list has grown, not because of the rude commentary, but because of credfarmer bots. On my five characters I think I have less than 10 people on ignore that aren't bots, and only one of those since F2P larnched, and only because he refused to stop typing in all caps after repeated requests from multiple people in gen chat, and a whisper from me, to stop. By the same token, my friends list is also on the increase. Just after 1.5 launched, I decided to make up a Pub side toon, I normally play Imp side, and level him up for when I was ready to get the HK parts, and I grouped up with someone that appeared to be having lag issues. When I commented on this she said she was from the UK, and when I asked why she was on a NA server, she told me that some of her chat friends had recommended the game and they were on the Ebon Hawk server, and with the game being F2P she decided to give it a try. After that I used the follow player command, and if she lagged and ran into a group of hostiles, I would try to keep her from getting killed. She would also, occasionally get DC'd, at which point I would stay nearby and kill any wandering mobs or respawns. I know alot of people would probably have ungrouped and moved on, but we spent most of the weekend hanging out, leveling our toons together, she is now on my friends list, and I sent her an in-game e-mail with a list of my Imp side toons, and told her to give them a shout if she rolled up an Imp side character and noticed any of them were in-game.
  24. I just finished reading this thread and had to post a reply. I have to agree that for some reason this game has inspired a kneejerk love it or hate it response from the gaming community. I don't know if anyone out there is truely MEH about this game. I, for one, truely enjoy the game. The last game I enjoyed this much was Asheron's Call, which is going back a few years. I have been subbed since March and have no intention of unsubbing from this game. I am a Star Wars fan, and so my perception may be a bit slanted in favor of this game for that reason. I am also an admitted altaholic, as well as a bibliophile (look it up, it's a cool word), which would likely explain why I am not concerned with "end game" content. There were a couple comments people had mentioned that drew my attention an made me go . The first was: "single most fail game experience a human being can have in MMOs really" and the second was: "It's the biggest failure in gaming history (maybe entertainment history)." I have three words for the ones who made these comments. Star Wars Galaxies.
  25. Holidays would be nice, but I'd like to see them set up as something unique to the Star Wars universe, perhaps not even tied into real world holiday times. Easter, Octoberfest, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas? I don't think they would translate well into a galaxy spanning game experience. I would like to see more events like the Rakghoul plague occur, in game content not related to any real world holiday or event.
