  1. I suspect you are correct given we generally don't see much done in regards to GSF, but this would be the ideal solution.
  2. In terms of what I find most annoying, its not quite as bad as someone deciding to spam sabotage probes at you, but I do agree that it could do with being toned down a bit.
  3. Unlikely its SWTOR with that idle temp, the above posts have good info, but IMO the most likely issue will be dust in the heatsink or a broken fan, I wouldn't push anything too hard until you check these first.
  4. I had not seen this suggested before, but it seems like an excellent idea!
  5. This was actually put forth by someone who did only play 1 character, I didn't really clarify but did not intend for it to come across as my own idea. I just like it as it wont negativity impact any existing player base to give something to the guys who do play a limited number of characters, though you are absolutely right about the ROI, only BW would know how many stick to a few characters and how much work implementing this would be. I just wanted to put it out there as the original idea was buried in posts from the last conquest point rebalance.
  6. You don't want to discuss improvements, then that is your prerogative, but don't think that as you post a lot, it somehow makes your opinion fact and will stop others from doing so. I am giving them some credit after the last update to the conquest system, where they did listen to our feedback.
  7. Can't say that I agree with this "It's in a good place, so let's not discuss potential improvement's" mentality. Not discussing ideas wont stop changes being made to the system in the future, it will just guarantee that when they are made, they wont be ideas from the community.
  8. So while I wait for PTS to download, this has been something I have been meaning to get round to for a while. The conquest system has changed a fair bit since it was implemented, and IMO it has generally been for the better and left us in a good place as we stand right now. That said though, there are still improvements which could be made, and during the recent point balance discussion there were some good ideas that came up which were outside of the scope of that work, I thought it would be worth starting some discussion on what we would still like to see changed. Multiple Alt's vs Single Character Participation One of the ideas which I like, was in regards to players who like to concentrate on one character instead of multiple alts; the idea was to allow the conquest to essentially be repeatable and ding the reward every 50k points, keeping a tally for the end of the week where you would receive the reward x the number of completions that character had made. This would fit well into the "Play Your Way" theme, and would not really change anything for those who prefer to play alt's, as that would still be the most efficient method of playing due to the ability to complete various weekly quests on a different alt each day, but only once if you focused on one character. IMO this is the best kind of change, it takes nothing away from anyone, but opens things up to alternate play styles, even if not quite to the same level, it at least makes it viable! Planetary Conquest Top 10 This was something which many people had raised as an issue, and there is a thread currently running in General regarding the issue on DM right now, which is that a few Guild's with multiple sister guilds who own the top 10 every week, essentially making it a non-existent feature for most of the player base. Some suggestions regarding this; Remove the top 10 and add Gold/Silver/Bronze participation targets for per planet. Titles could be awarded on achieving the Gold tire of participation. Potentially Imp vs Rep could also be used; title's would require your side to win + your guild achieving gold tier. The winning side could also be given a bonus, something along the lines of the current dark vs light tokens. [*]Open all planets each conquest (Other than ones tied to the weekly theme). [*]Increase guild size to let the conquest guilds run with a single guild. Decoupling the top 10 from the titles should also eliminate the issue some people have regarding the repeatable crafting objective and the potential for botting, as it would no longer have any impact outside of any guild which may have been using bots. Obviously it would not make botting acceptable, but BW could then handle any botting as they saw fit via account actions, rather than removing the crafting objective which would penalise legitimate players unnecessarily. So what else would people like to see?
  9. I would also add changing the scoreboard view at the end of reg matches, personally I would just remove them altogether, but most would probably like to see their own stats still. At this point, thought I know this would be unpopular with the guys who like things the way they are, I would just make regs solo queue only and ranked group queue only, let premade's fight premade's.
  10. Given they have always been balanced for a group of 4, I have only done a few as the folks I play with have never really had much interest in them; no story and too difficult for what you get from them. I suspect the level going up will just make them more difficult and wont change this situation for me, which is a shame as I actually like mowing through groups of mobs more than lengthy boss fights. Question/Suggestion; Would it be possible for the PTS download to be done in the background while we play on the regular servers? Just updating from the last PTS version is a 12GB download, and we cant switch back to standard servers while it downloads.
  11. I find that vs gunships, if 1v1 I can take them out the majority of the time whether in a scout or strike, I mostly stick to the strike these days as its just that bit easier to fly. There are a few pilots though who keep damage overcharge up and know the good hiding places where you cant sneak up on them, I find them much more difficult to kill 1v1. When the other side has a stack or wall of gunships/bombers though, I find it makes no difference what I am flying, in those scenarios the skill level required for the GS/Bombers to be deadly is drastically lowered to the point I cant get near them in either ship type. Something I have noticed since I returned to the game last year though, is that since strikes have become more predominant, there are some scout pilots who seem to focus on taking them out, and can do so with a pretty impressive success rate. They tend to stop and turret torpedoes until targeted, but unlike the bombers and GS's, can actually out fly many of the ships which attack them. I think it is in part as some don't realise they are scouts until its too late, and it is obviously experienced pilots. I have spent a few matches harassing them rather than focusing on gunships which is my normal role, and while I may be able to keep them busy for a time, actually killing them is bloody difficult in 1v1, for me at least. It makes for an interesting match though!
  12. I haven't gone through all the replies, but default E will target the enemy under your cursor, which in GSF in pretty much in front of you. For QOL, I would like to be able to see conquest progress on the character screen, or just a complete character screen overhaul. If being unrealistic, I would like free placement of items in the strongholds rather than the outdated hook system
  13. That does sound like retro thrusters, if you are both flying straight towards one another and the other ship hits retro, they will boost backwards for a couple seconds while still facing you and can continue to fire.
  14. If I were to make a change, it would be to remove the ability to stop a ship and play as a turret, stop people stacking up surrounded by mines, etc. To be fair it isn't as common as it used to be, but its always bugged me, takes a lot of the skill out of playing.
  15. I don't think anyone on the forum will be able to help, but they should be able to resolve this through the ticket you have logged (Unless it works differently as its through steam?). Don't know what the holiday hours for the support team are, but I know they were busy last week, took them about 5 or 6 days to resolve a similar issue for me then via support ticket.
  16. I have seen this one come up in the google question and answers as well, when searching something which was nothing to do with P2W. Have to say it did piss me off a bit as there is no telling how many people have seen that and thought it was a meaningful answer rather than some random thread that somehow got pinned...
  17. I like the idea, some of the best PvP I have experienced was in DaoC, the realm vs realm was a lot of fun when you were actually capturing or defending keeps. SWG back in the early days was also a lot of fun with faction bases. As to this idea, since we already have the outlaws den, adding some structure to capture/defend shouldn't be an issue. What I would probably do though is tie it to something more akin to the light vs dark side mechanic, whichever side is holding the area gets a buff for everyone on that side, PvE and PvP. You could expand by adding a few more areas, letting a guild gain control, etc. but giving a benefit to everyone I feel is the main drive behind these type of capture points, gets people more involved, some of whom would never care about playing PvP as it is now in instanced areas with no greater objective past win or lose that match.
  18. I would just add that as a decidedly casual player when it comes to ground PvP, this hits the nail on the head as to why I stopped playing ground PvP and stick to GSF now. EDIT: One thing I should have added, before this change went live, there were many alternative ideas put forth; One of them was to remove the end of match scores in unranked matches to stop people from just number farming and ignoring objectives; from my perspective, this would have had much more value than the change which was made.
  19. I figure they never added them here as people would expect a story arc to go with any new class. Plus new classes are often overpowered, and we have plenty of balance issues already. What I would like though is some kind of imperial trooper who can use an assault cannon, probably easier just to make a real option to switch sides once you reach the point of any story being tied to class though.
  20. That makes perfect sense to me. Something else worth considering is that while many other games have armour, mounts, etc, you are normally talking about long term sub bonuses for the good stuff. EQ2 for example I know I had sub rewards for 10+ years, they were unique and very worth while, as you would expect for subbing to a game for over 10 years. Looking at weekly and monthly here, I wouldn't expect that level out of every calendar, how I would handle the good stuff would be to track how many weekly sub completions an account had achieved and base the unique/better rewards on that. We could still have consumables and fluff items that could be fun throughout the weekly/monthly calendar progress, but if you want that nice mount, that nice looking armour set... best sub up and start making sure you are hitting those weekly checkpoints!
  21. Were you able to easily locate the Login Reward system? Yes Do you feel the addition of the Subscriber Weekly Bonus provides additional value to your subscription? Not with the current rewards Does the reward structure feel good? Do you feel that items near the end of a calendar are of higher value? The calendar idea is interesting and seems like it will work, makes a change from the normal count of days subbed these systems tend to use. In general, which rewards are the most/least valuable to you? I liked the purple sparkle powder as I like fluff, and the dye pack assuming it is akin to the CM dye packs. After spending some time with Login Rewards, are there any aspects of the system which remain unclear to you? No There are 3 Login Reward calendars to go through. In general, how do you feel about this? Do you feel it will help in keeping the Login Reward system fresh and exciting? I think we need better rewards to keep things interesting, generally I expect login / sub reward systems to include armour sets, weapon's, mounts and especially decorations. We need items people will actually be excited about rather than just more of the same stuff we already have and dont really need.
  22. As others have said, as nice as it would be, its not really possible given how small the GSF player base is nowadays, and it's also not as easy as placing people with similarly geared up ships together. As an example; I don't consider myself a great pilot, I would say my skill level is average; I rarely use missile's, don't really pay attention to the stats / abilities / crew. Simply put I just want to fly about and pew-pew other ships with my lasers. I started out by getting smashed every time I went into a match, over time, I got killed less and got more kills, figured out some of the tactics people use, etc. If I had the patience to watch videos and the like that people put up around here I am sure that whole process would have been easier, but its just not how I do things. With the above in mind, now when I go to play GSF on a new character, I don't get smashed even if in a ship which is not upgraded, and after that first match, you get like 25k points to invest in the ship, that puts me pretty much back to normal play. Now ye there are always those times where the teams are just really out of whack and one team gets demolished no matter what you try or how your ship is geared, but in my experience those are not the norm. Fact is that experience just plays a huge part in this game mode, and there are some really good pilots out there. Now personally I would love to see a version where you cant stop your ship and with lock on missiles removed, as there are also a lot of people who just tuck themselves into a corner and play as a missile turret, who I would dearly love to see actually have to fly their ship, see if they manage as well then, but honestly its unlikely we will ever see much added to GSF given the low player base it has
  23. I am not sure you have really understood the core idea behind these changes, they have not simply buffed all conquest points, they have made a 1st pass over balancing them based in part on feedback from the player base. If all you care about is grinding out your personal points as quickly as possible, then honestly these changes are not aimed at you, as believe it or not, not everyone plays that way.
  24. Could just do it like FFXIV, seems to be what people are asking for; Over there you have a section in your account where you can choose a digital upgrade for the base game and each expansion, assuming you own the base version. It takes a couple clicks, a few quid, and you are upgraded to CE as far as in game items, couldn't be easier. It would actually make sense here given how long it has been since the retail version was available and the new players around just now.
