I queued for 30 min solo ranked last night with no pop (DPS sorc). I hadn't been queuing for ranked this season but with the regs comms cap increase I figured I should do ranked to earn my OH and other 174 gear that I'm missing rather than convert reg comms to ranked comms.

Tank is hard to play well in PvP. You might want to try DPS. Tanking in PvP means lots of guard swapping . Generally you swap guard to who ever the other team is focusing. This is hard for a n00b (or even an experienced bad like me). DPS is easy -- find the healer and kill them. Lastly, the most important advice: join a guild that uses voice chat get in voice chat and group up with guildmates have more fun and learn faster because of (1) and (2)

for experienced players, lowbie PvP (WZ and arena) is pretty boring ... that said, the key to having a better experience is: join a guild that uses voice chat get in voice chat group up and do content (PvP, flashpoints, operations) with guildmates. Even in level 60 PvP there are a lot of lopsided matches. This is the nature of the game. If you are in voice chat with 3 other guildies it is easier to stop obessing over the fact that you are getting crushed and find some personal objectives to do for the rest of the match. E.g. perhaps you'll try to kill that healer at least once or you can do friendly fire pulls on a guildmate and have a good laugh in chat about it. This is an MMO. group up get in voice chat ??? profit!!!

I have one of each AC on both factions so that is 1440 to transfer them all, plus all my wifes toons. Also, guilds don't transfer? I'll just wait for server merges since they make everything transfer when they do them.

TANGENT: I think BW should provide separate group ranked incentives to encourage more group ranked play.

yes. The way to select gear is to look at the set bonuses. If you look at the wrong types of gear above you will set some of the set bonuses buff abilities your spec does not have. You want all of the gear set bonuses to apply (LDO).

Agree. No matter how you slice it, the game is based around offensive abilities (including stuns) and their counters (cc break, force barrier, teleport, force shroud, scouperative roll, et cetera). There is a reason why OP is getting stunlocked and the other side isn't. As Foxmob says, the problem is that BW has scheduled a lopsided match. There is no reasonable combat mechanics change (like increasing CD on stuns) that can fix a lopsided match.

thank you BW for listening and rolling out this quality of life change early. This last week I've been converting reg comms to ranked because of the cap. It is nice that I can stop doing that.

On the west coast, The Bastion is definitely NOT dead. I'm not transferring to Harbinger and losing guild perks. I'll just wait for BW to merge Bastion and Harbinger (and what ever the other west coast servers are) into one mega server.

agreed, not an exploit. rescue / extricate has a cooldown if a sage/sorc is close enough to pull someone across the gap they are close enough to the edge to be knocked off

That works for jedi / sith. For trooper / bountyhunter and scoundrel/operative, legacy MH/OH are worthless as the mirror classes can not wield the same weapon types.

TANGENT: In voice chat I occasionally lampoon guildies who use gay as an insult by using hetero in the same way. As in "class <X> was OP before they buffed it, the latest class changes are hetero". Perhaps I say such things because (IRL) I am sinister.

EDIT: My point is not whether or not our flood of hax0rs exist, my point is eye witness testimony is low quality evidence. If you want to be taken serious get some high quality evidence. Video and (if appropriate) combat logs.

knockback root does a great job of neutralizing vigilance/vengeance. Most teams have 2 consulars. If these two work together the gdn/jugg can be nearly permarooted. The knockback builds a little resolve but the root gives it time to wear off. I've been on the receiving end of this and it is impressive and amusing (or frustrating if these things frustrate you). For roots to be effective your team has to coordinate and not put DOTs on the chosen root victim. Against consulars, a vigilance gdn never gets to land his 3rd tick of ravage because they force speed away before it hits. I don't remember whether using HtL guarantees avoiding the 3rd tick. As long as you don't blow your stuns and knockbacks while the guardian has unremitting immunity rooting, slowing and kiting are effective. (try and kite a shadow/assassin, LOL).

Not to long ago BW changed PvP MH/OH so that they come without crystals. So: you need to put a crystal in your MH (and OH) for PvP you need to put a +41 expertise crystal in to get 2018 expertise. If you put the wrong crystal (e.g. +41 power) you won't have 2018 expertise. back in the olden days PvP weapons came with +41 expertise crystals. Perhaps this crystal issue is your problem. EDIT: I think the Shadow of Revan mission gear (162, 168 PvE) also provides MH/OH without crystals. You can actually equip and use these MH/OH without noticing the lack of crystal, LOL.

one data point: I'm pretty terrible but not a troll. I played solo ranked in season 4 and they never accused me of win trading. So there it is, one data point for correctly classifying a bad. (Haven't played much swtor in season 5 and no ranked -- too busy).
