  1. ... for all the interesting advice. Yes, I'm doing a sage/healer PvP build. I look forward to trying your suggestions this weekend. I'll report back my impressions. Yes, I'm more interested in helping the team than in leveling ASAP, although I realize leveling will help future teams. I want teammates to say "wow, I can't believe we won with a level 10 and ... against that other team"
  2. perhaps you won when the other team had 2 who were AFK It would be nice if SWTOR would provide an automated fix. E.g. they could have a warning popup for AFK in PvP followed by booting the player and replacing them. I know replacement occurs because I have joined a few PvPs that were nearly completed (e.g. 10 seconds after I join it finished). Likewise SWTOR could track frequent PvP AFK folks and take some sort of corrective action (e.g. like make them only play against one another, LOL).
  3. I'm new to MMOs and PvP ... I played a bit of PvP with my level 20 character before I decided to roll a new toon for PvP (leveling up in PvP then playing PvE missions is boring). So, my question is not "how can I beat x y z" or "how can I level up quickly". Rather, I want to know what strategies I can employ as a lower level PvPer so that I contribute as much as possible to my team's effort to win. Would these low level strategies vary by level bracket (e.g. 10-20 should employ tactic X & Y while 21-40 should do A, B & C)? feel free to make war zone specific recommendations. I'm thinking that for Alderaan, watching a secured gun, while boring is probably a good use of a level 10. If this is indeed good for the team, how does not getting in the action affect my XP and leveling? thanks in advance, --fj
  4. QFMFT. I think "east/west, north/south" are most accurate as they implicitly suggest the map as the reference. If someone were helping a n00b, they might say "go left/west, the side with <obvious feature> and not <other obvious feature>"
  5. I'm an MMO noob, level 23 consular sage/seer. I'm looking for a PvP guild that uses ventrilo (or any other voice chat) and likes to do at least a little bit of strategy and tactics.
  6. a couple of tips: (1) post a more descriptive subject line (e.g. FPS player, new to MMOs looking for a guild) with this you might find some other FPS players and perhaps form your own guild. (2) you can form your own guild if you find 3 other like minded people.
  7. I downloaded it twice. Yes, the speed is all over the place. The tube to my house is quite fat and can get 20 Mb/s. For some parts of SWTOR I got 20Mb/s and for others (most) I got 1 Mb/s or less. EDIT: BTW, doesn't the SWTOR downloader display speeds in B/s not b/s? The game is friggin huge (25 GB is more than 3 double layer DVDs) so if you download in 24 hours that is ~ 2 M bits / sec on average (250 M bytes / sec). My downloads probably took between 12-18 hours.
  8. SWTOR runs fine on my 4 year old lenovo T61p (nvidia quadro FX 570M), acceptable frame rate and responsiveness, but it does crash from time to time. I checked for new drivers but NVIDIA hasn't updated them in a while. I doubt NVIDIA cares to fix bugs in such an old device driver. Oh well.
  9. How about joining similar items into a single stack?
