  1. I will be renewing my subscription. I reviewed the comments of a player. His Quote: "I already capped 50 and finished one of the 16-man raids and got the full tier pvp. I do not like this MMO it's another wow (here's how i exactly think http://i.imgur.com/UmcMV.jpg) and i already bored that kind of game, doesn't give anything new except a story that ends in 1 week with voiceovers. Is a good game to play 1 month, after that not enough subscription." Expose your opinions My Opinions: I will begin with a question- How long does it take to go from level one to level fifty in World of Warcraft? Approximately one week to up to one month? Let us consider this comment: "I do not like this MMO it's another wow" I examined the image link, and I understand where you are coming from. It is my opinion, that a large majority of the members that play Star Wars the Old Republic, fully know that the "game mechanics" are Blizzard designed. It is not uncommon for games to use engines from other developers/designers. Star Wars the Old Republic is Star Wars, with Star Wars lore, etc. Quake is a fine example: The Quake game engine is used by: Quake (1996) – id Software HeXen II (1997) – Raven Software Half-Life (1998) - Valve Corporation (Half-Life uses the Quake-based GoldSrc engine) Laser Arena (2000) – Trainwreck Studios CIA Operative: Solo Missions (2001) – Trainwreck Studios Urban Mercenary (2001) – Moshpit Entertainment Silver Wings (2005) – Bampusht! (Silver Wings uses a heavily modified version of Telejano v7) Does that mean that "Half-Life" is just another "Quake"? No. Next I will get to the image link and post my own image link, I didn't take much time putting the image together, but I hope it will illustrate a point. SUPER NEW MMORPG - NOT AT ALL LIKE WOW I think having the mini-map as a hexagon and placed near the bottom center with your action bar acting as a frame to the mini-map is totally not WoW. I think that having a body location hit image, where you have to click on the location of the body to indicate where you want to strike your enemy. This concept is totally not WoW. I think having something from "the Sims" with various meters, nature call meter, tired meter, relationship meter will be great to have. This concept is totally not WoW. I didn't include it, but I see it on the horizon, touch screen attacks, where you swipe the screen and tap it, this will be the next step in mmorpgs. This concept is totally not WoW. Let us throw out levels and experience points. I think an mmorpg should start by randomizing your characters parents, their race and their "title or life occupation" (which would give your starting character his or her starting skills), and then your characters gender and name would be random. Depending on your characters family, you would be born: into peasants, merchants, nobles. You are limited to re-rolls, so don't try to get your character as a noble. Your character starts at age 15, with the given name from your characters parents. You might be the son or daughter of a blacksmith. Being an apprentice blacksmith, would get you into crafting armor and weapons. Depending on what your character does, he or she might become a squire, and over time become noticed by nobles to be "knighted" and over time be noticed by the gods, and be made into a demi-god, and then over time, become a god. This concept is totally not WoW. Is this what you want? Is this what players want? All of these different non-WoW concepts and game mechanics? In my opinion, most players will not want this. Changing the subject to Star Wars the Old Republic. I'm loving the idea of this "legacy" - I'm seeing it add an element I have not seen in a game. I enjoy the companion(s). There is a lot in this game. And it's just started. In my opinion, I imagine more content added, possible level cap raised. I also enjoy the various pvp arena's etc. For me, there is plenty of things to keep me happy. Besides, I enjoy, "role-playing" and that just allows you to soak up the game all the more. If anything, one of the main reasons to play the game, because, "It's STAR WARS"!!! the end
  2. I swear that Jawas were cousins to Ewoks. Like desert Ewoks.
  3. As much as I love the "lightsabers"-- My son brought up a valid observation. He said, that from the comics he recalled that the older lightsabers were connected to a cable to a backpack. He seems to be partially right. "…these archaic lightsabers were barely portable; their energy requirements necessitated a flexible cable that connected a lightsaber's handle to a power pack worn on a Jedi's belt." Excerpt from Wookieepedia. Lightsaber Wookipeedia And here is an image: Ancient Lightsaber So. My question. Is the game in the newer Star Wars universe? With like Luke Skywalker? Or is it thousands of years earlier? If it is earlier, wouldn't the lightsabers be mounted to a flexible cable to a belt power source? Curious old schooler Star Wars fan.
  4. Will a "Role-playing" profile be implemented into the game?
  5. Though I understand how it seems "over" done with how a Companion at times can seem to be right in our Characters "personal" space. The way I've viewed these Companions is, I'm the "Knight" and that is my "Squire" -- So it goes to reason that they would be interested in our character, anticipating our characters moves etc. Since I'm understanding that Star Wars the Old Republic is using the World of Warcraft mechanics; as it is with Hunter's pet's - they can be set to Passive, Defensive (following), or Aggressive. Perhaps, Bioware will come up with this sort of feature. Then. If you had that choice: The players that are all distressed over the Companion being overly interested in their Character, they could select "Passive" and then the Companion would be just kind of hanging out. (Which I personally would be weirded out by this Companion just hanging out not really doing anything. ) But I could see the Aggressive mode, which I would think would be most desired by PvP players. And as an RPer, I can see things getting exciting with my Companion rushing off into battle. There's my two cents.
  6. 45 the New 30 and the OPC I fall into the 45+ category. I work with the professional field, however- I'm a humble professional messenger, (delivering legal docs from one law office to another, process server, etc.)- I have a professional hobby: I'm a "Graphic Design Broker" that makes a supplemental income from designing; business cards, posters, banners, etc. I love "role-playing" I like PvE, and I enjoy PvP. For me, the PvP adds to some sort of realism for my role-playing, hence, I prefer RP/PvP servers over RP servers. I'm hoping to see in the game, Character Profile. And think about it, ages ago, before any of us 45ers were born, way back in the day, there were professionals that would have a large table with miniature toy confederate, union, or red coat toy soldiers. I still love that Jimmy Stewart movie; "You Can't Take It With You" -- The movie ended with a retired mogul and banker playing the harmonica. Some corporations are discovering the benefits of allowing naps at work; discovering that the 20 min power nap, provides for higher productivity verses the same staff on caffeine. Seems though we are bombarded by the pubescent youth. Thankfully a number of them are mature enough to play with and add to the game play, unlike their counterparts that can't even spell, hence they rely only on txt msg making crude statements followed by, i pwn u. Whatever. I usually laugh it off. To sum this up. Glad to have you with us, Master Pappy. And may the force be strong with us.
  7. Boot Camp works -- BUT It is a cheap fix. It is a cheap approach. Let me ask this. How many producers, game designers, game developers, programers, game artists, game music composers, etc. use Apple products such as: iPhone, iPod, or the ever popular iPad? They will notice as countless millions of Mac using consumers, that there is a difference between Mac and Non-Mac products. This comment is not a who is better type of comment. It is a, "they are different kind of comment." True. Mac has Boot Camp. And if you are like me, you use Paralell with your Mac to run Mac and Microsoft Windows 7- BUT and this is the big BUT. Mac's are different then PC's- The keyboard of the Mac is different from the PC. The PC having a "Number Pad" with Num Loc, etc. So. What the developers have to do, is tweak the the keybinding to work with the Mac. I'm sure there are other features of the Mac that are equally different. i.e. the mouse or Magic Trackpad (Which I think would be a great thing for gaming on the PC)- So. It would be great for the developers to reconsider their "cheap" approach to addressing the development/design for the Mac. I personally do not ever want to play a game on a PC, I do not want to ever own another PC. However, I do enjoy games, online games such as Star Wars the Old Republic.
  8. I'm kind of new to Star Wars the Old Republic. Is it a few years old? Or is it a relatively new game? I'm pretty sure it's new game. There will be adjustments on the servers and populations on servers will fluctuate as the game takes time to become established. Low population servers will become High Population servers. As new servers open up, some players will flock from one server to another. Eventually servers will level off and maintain a certain population. Me, I can't speak for everyone, but, I'm finding the game fun enough, that I'm not terribly concerned about population. Besides, it shouldn't take forever to level up in this game, so; you could always move to a server with a larger population. Hope this helps you re-consider leaving. Especially, if you have enjoyed the game till now.
  9. ONE QUESTION: Will there be a Character Profile? (Commentary: A Character Profile for the benefit of role-players. It seems half the mmorpgs cater only to PvP and PvE players, but not to the RP players. To include a Character Profile, should not be a difficult programing task for the developers; this would be a first step in indicating an interest in the RP players as well.)
