  1. I didn't know that. Is that only on the new map on the PTS, or is it live? I guess I'll just watch for it live and check for myself... oh wait, I never survive that long with the ball. :p

This, for me. I think the extra bit of brain work required to roughly keep track of how long you've held the ball and decide the risk of "holding it a little longer" is good. When the timer was originally shortened, I was hoping they would add a "ball carrier explode" timer to the UI, but after playing it a while I changed my mind. More exploding people in PvP is always good. :D

It's a buff on your bar, so you can keep track. Granted, we have 10,000 buffs to keep track of, but this one is at least unique enough to eyeball and see how we are doing.

  2. Thx for the input - i will have to try another 16man op this week then to see if its only TFB for me.

I don't really see (severe) fps drops in pvp, and as mentioned, I can't remember having problems with ops at all, but

that run was a complete nightmare for me, as even switching targets became a real chore and keeping up movement & dps was quite exhausting with such low fps and delays.

16m is rough for a lot of people, you need a really really top of the line computer to be able to run 16m well.

I usually have to run it on very low, and it's bearable, but still pretty choppy.

  3. I got your point. I’m not arguing with you anymore because you don’t get mine, which is those point changes Musco posted about aren’t being awarded.

If you “think” differently, that’s your prerogative. I’ve proof it’s not happening and I’m willing to send it to Musco if he wants it.

My guess is the change never made it into 5.9,2. Which is what I’m trying to find out.

Good day and good bye to you.

Did you get passed to while in the end zone, and not receive points? That's it. Its a yes or no question. If yes, then the changes didnt go into effect. If no, you walked into the end zone, it's a different issue. Or, it's a misunderstanding on my side about what the actual changes are (maybe you pass the ball to someone, and they score 40 seconds later you are now supposed to ge the points? Seems weird, but I guess you could interpret it that way if you squint really hard).

Scoring in huttball has always awarded points. If it doesnt anymore, that's a problem (not one I've seen, but its possible). But the changes are not to give an extra 2500 pts for scoring, they are only to give those points if the score is off a pass (unless I am misreading the changes). That's very different.

  4. You get points for doing a lot of things like kills and death matching. I’m telling you straight up that you are not getting points for scoring etc.

I’ve checked this I’m multiple games. So instead of pulling apart my thread that isn’t directed to you, go and play some Hutt Ball and see for yourself.

If you find I am wrong, please post some proof. I’ve plenty of proof to show it’s not working,

Ok, you are clearly missing the point. You are complaing about not getting points for SCORING, but the dev msg you are quoting about is strictly about points coming from PASSING. If the "6 goals" that you scored were not scored off a pass, than the quote you quoted (in this and another thread) is completely unrelated. I'm not saying that scoring 6 goals and getting no points isn't a problem, it is, but by you quoting the dev msg about passing scoring, you are implying it is related to that. And if you weren't standing in the end zone and received a pass to score, than that dev msg has nothing to do with it. You are literally working against your own point, because you are suggesting that the problem is with the PASSING points, when the problem is the SCORING points.

Also, you posted this in General Discussion, which means it's directed at everyone. If you want this to primarily be pointed at the devs, put it in the bugs section, and if you don't want anyone responding to it at all, send a message to Keith or Eric, and don't put it on a forum that anyone with a subscription can respond to.it.

And I have played huttball, and I've gotten points for scoring. That's why I spent the last 2 posts I made attempting to clarify what you were saying. Were you standing in the End Zone, got passed to, scored, and didn't get any points? Then that is related to what you posted. Did you walk in holding the ball, and didn't get points? Unrelated to what you posted, but also a problem (but not one that I have seen, which means that it is not a widespread issue, which is useful information for the devs to know. Why is it only affecting a subset of the population?) This is all useful information for the devs to know, and I would think you would want the devs to have as much information as possible so they can fix it.

  5. Great, then you try and win and try to organize the warzone into a team. But don't expect others who have ran 10000 warzones to just fall in line. Killing people in PvP is an acceptable form of participation.

I do OBJs too, simply because I want to win, but what gets me is the goobers who think they can tell other people how they should play. Pay their sub, then we'll talk. Till then, queue up, shut up and play.

Lol, and once you pay my sub, you can have me shut up when I call you out on crazy statements like "What's the point of trying to win, I already have 10 bazillion wins, so I don't need any more, so obviously everyone else doesn't either". Until you do, shut up and play.

  6. First, please turn off arenas. I only was on for about a half hour unfortunately, but all I got were arenas. I'm on here to help test, so I'm more than happy to wait around fleet for a while to get a pop to actually test.

2nd, is Muscosoontm actually you? Just wanna know if I should trust what he says :rak_03:

Edit: I'm pretty sure he is, and if so, I mentioned this to him already, but maybe an easier change than trying to remove all the arena's from rotation would be to increase the "pop arena" timer to like 60 minutes instead of the 5 minutes it's sitting at now. No idea if that actually is easier, or would just cause more problems, but figured it wouldn't hurt to mention.

  7. Finishing your weekly faster is the reason to do objectives? That’s weak af. Why would anyone care about the daily or weekly? I have 15000 health pot and adrenals, I’ve been rank 300 forever and max gear forever, I’m max valor, I have 2bn credits. All that and I do enough to finish weekly during the week anyway. Regardless if doing OBJs or not is your thing, it simply cannot be argued that winning a reg warzone has any worth at all.

Unless of course you arent rank 300, dont have full gear, dont have 2bn credits, and arent max valor of course.

  8. Um yeah I do understand how it works, I can read.

I got passes and passed during the game. He didn’t pass or play the ball once.

Please double check yourself next time you are in a match. I think you will find what I am saying to be correct.

You get points for killing the ball carrier too. And you specifically mentioned that you scored 6 times, but unless those 6 times were you standing in the end zone and getting passed to, you would not have gotten those 2500 points (and maybe you were, it's not clear from what you said) but if not, the text you are quoting has nothing to do with the problem. Scoring 6 times and getting 2k pts definitely sounds wrong, but by you quoting the yellow text, you are suggesting the passing scoring is the problem, and I dont think that's the case, unless again, you were standing in the end zone when you got passed to, then it is a problem.

And last time I was in a match I scored 3 times and got over 8k pts. But I walked in myself, I wasnt passed to in the end zone.

  9. These objective points or medals do not seem to be happening in Huttball.

Mr Musco, can you please check if this made it into the final build or is it bugged?

Scored 6 goals, none of these awarded. Person death matching in the corner and not helping gets 9000+ and I get less than 2000.

The changes specifically have to do with how scoring works with regards to passes. So if you receive a pass, you get 250 now, and if you receive a pass in the scoring area, you get an additional 2500. But if you walk in, and you are the one who picked up the ball in the first place, you get no new points you didn't get before 5.9.2.

P.S. if the dude death matching in the corner gets 9000 objective points, he probably either did a lot of passing, or killed the opponents ball carrier a lot. You don't get points for death matching against a random player who doesn't have hte ball.

  10. I think everybody realizes that you have to deliberately do this. I think the point is that it is being taken WAY too seriously. "Your actions have consequences" and pushing the hard line about this seems so unnecessary! Why be so restrictive about this? What purpose does that serve? Is it just so you can scold other players who might want to have their cake and eat it too, when (in this instance) it really does not matter or make any huge impact on the game if they do?

LOL "everyone demands the studio bail them out". Give me a break. Your reproach is noted, but so unnecessary. It's a stupid pet in a stupid stronghold for crying out loud.

The Catholic Nun whacking everyone's knuckles for every little transgression I grew up hating wasn't even this strict over something so trivial. And in fact, I look back now and feel terribly sorry for someone who spends their life doing little other than expressing scorn for others. Lighten up a little!

    .

Hey, why are you taking this thread so seriously? It's just a forum about a video game, give me a break. Your reproach is noted, but so unnecessary. It's a stupid forum thread about a stupid game for crying out loud. In fact, I look at the forums nowadays and feel terribly sorry for someone who spends their life doing little other than expressing scorn for others on a forum. Lighten up a little!

Obviously, the above isn't what I actually feel, but just because you think a certain part of the game is stupid or unimportant doesn't mean that that is true for everyone else.

  11. statistically speaking, most people do story mode - it's just that the vast majority of people who do group finders and other story mode ops do not use star parse

my guess is that 80 percent of ops run are SM, 15 percent are HM, and 5 percent are NIM.

and yes, merc is by far the most popular class at the moment according to the starparse metrics

if we're gonna necro, might as well try to be educational

Speaking of necro, where are you getting the stats? Ixparse doesnt look like it's been updated for almost a year.

  12. But how many listen? In my experience not many and most cases, no one listens when you are the only person on the team with experience.

Shrug. Not what he was asking. If he asked that, there are definitely way to improve the odds of people listening (mostly be polite, or directly whispering someone), or just take on the roles that other people aren't (i.e. someone is leaving after capping, be the first person to the node instead and you guard). And sometimes you just gotta suck it up. But again, he wasn't saying that people not listening is the issue. He said that it takes too long to explain the maps, and my one line explanations of each map was designed to show it is possible if you just focus on the important bits.

  13. The most important aspects are covered when they load in. (i.e. what the objectives of each map are.)

However in no possible way can anyone, no matter how experienced, give an accurate rundown of a map in 90 seconds or less. On top of this, even if they tried, there is no guarantee that they will be listened to nor that everyone on their team will agree with their descriptions. For example in Voidstar for the first doors do you use left/right, east/west, or shuttle/fighter side? Tell them left/right and then someone on your team uses east/west for the doors.

There is just simply way too much information to pass along to an inexperienced player before a match starts and while it is ongoing. A lot of it, honestly, they should have picked up in the lower PvP brackets but far too many wait until 70 and then trying and get stomped.

Of course, none of this is even covering gearing, rotations, focus, taunting, guard swapping, dcds, or any number of player specific things a person should know, or have at least a mild understanding of, before PvPing.

If you don't believe me, jump into a match at level 70 and see how much you can figure out in the time you have before the match begins. Even ask questions. You'll still see that it's nearly impossible.

Voidstar: Use East/West, fight on doors, call out incoming, don't leave door unguarded. Stealth goes one way, everyone else the other when attacking. Bam, good enough.

Odessan: Get powerups, fight on nodes. If you get a green powerup, use it on a blank one, red on on of theirs, the other 2 on ours.

Ancient Hypergate: If you cap, guard. Call out incoming, stand more than 10m away from pylon so you can't get sap capped. Kill enemies in mid, and grab orbs to take to pylon. Pay attention to chat if someone calls to attack theirs.

Novare Coast: Don't leave node unguarded. Call incoming. Attack mid unless you need to help defend node (or are defending node)

Huttball: Protect ball carrier on our team, and get ahead for passes. Attack ball carrier or support (tank or heals) on other team.

Alderaan: Don't leave node unguarded. Call incoming. Default is attack/defend mid since that's where most fighting usually happens. Stay more than 10m away from node if guarding so you can't get sap capped.

That's it. Yes, there are plenty of intricacies on each map that a more experienced player is aware of, but you can easily give the basics of each map to avoid people from making really bad mistakes quite easily.

  14. Didn't have much trouble with the otp last time but this 2 weeks is bad, once I tried logging in in the morning and otp is not sent until midnight. I can't even play the game the whole entire day. Other times it took longer than 15mins which means that otp I receive is useless because its over the 15mins limit. Can this problem be fixed soon? Missed out so much game time because of this otp again and again...

Next time you do it, set up a security key on your phone. It'll make it so you don't keep dealing with the one time password nonsense.

  15. How do you get the different sets? Whenever I go to the tier 1/2/3/4/etc. equipment vendors on fleet I only see one set

There is a dropdown at the top of the selection that let's you choose the spec you are looking at. The default is your current set, but you can choose the other specs, or "all".

  16. I'm working on an operative and want to be able to swap easily between Lethality and Medicine based on what my guild needs for ops. Obviously the two use different stats, but I'm trying to find a way to minimize the duplicate gear needed.

Luckily, I've heard lethality benefits greatly from alacrity (moreso than other dps specs, from what I hear), and alacrity also happens to be a prime stat for healing, so it'll just be a matter of swapping accuracy on dps gear for power or crit on healing gear. Any suggestions? Maybe just using the same armor and then swapping implants/device/artifacts?

Also, because these forums are dead as a doornail, are there any up to date guides on lethality and medicine for operatives?

Actually, what you will probably want to do is make sure all the accuracy you need are in the 7 set bonus pieces (head, chest, waist, wrist, gloves, pants, feet) because the set bonuses are different between healing and dps, so you'll have to swap those pieces anyway. Then you can keep the relics/earpiece/implants/mh/oh the same between both specs, so it is just those 7 pieces you'll have to swap.

    This one is decent. https://vulkk.com/2018/05/06/swtor-operative-lethality-guide-stats-gearing-abilities-utilities-tips/#INTRO

  17. A short Summary of my thougts of the recent matchmaking changes.

The Tank/Healer Limit is actually working good in my opinion. Times when it was not working it's arena (due to the fact there are just 6-8 players in q) and people leaving a matchmaked round and someone fills in the spot.

Then there is the matchmaking in fact of skill/rating or what you might call it. IMO this is a desaster.

I believe remembering eric mentioned something like just the highest rated memberof a group counts. this will lead to following theoretical issue.

    Frogdogs: Teams-Average-Rating:1025

    • Player 1: 2000 Rating
    • Player 2: 1500 Rating
    • Player 3: 1300 Rating
    • Player 4: 1000 Rating
    • Player 5: 800 Rating
    • Player 6: 700 Rating
    • Player 7: 500 Rating
    • Player 8: 400 Rating

    Rotworms: Teams-Average-Rating:1025 ((1900 + 1000 + 800 + 2x 700)/5

    Real 8 Player Rating: 1343

    Premade: Rating 1900

    • Player 1: 1900Rating
    • Player 2: 1900Rating
    • Player 3: 1900 Rating
    • Player 4: 1850 Rating

    4 Solo Player:

    • Player 5: 1000 Rating
    • Player 6: 800 Rating
    • Player 7: 700 Rating
    • Player 8: 700 Rating

So with this system there cant be any balance. anyone experience the same while listing solo or with just one friend? it's even more bad when in the 1900 premade is a healer and the the other team get for example the 500rating player as healer...

What Eric said is that everyone in the premade will be given the same rating as the highest person in the group. So it's all 4 people in the premade are considered to have a 1900 rating (even though 1 is 1850) so there are still 8 people on the team who's rating is taken into account for balance purposes.

  18. Pretty much this, might I also add my own thoughts on the matter however they're subjected to my own opinion of course.

The majority of people who will go to the theaters to see the new SW movie might not necessarily enjoy MMOs or games in general, the SW fanbase is huge but the majority of people who are SW fans merely watch the movies and are content with that type of content. I honestly doubt that if we were to have SWTOR ads play before SW movies that we would get that much of an increase in playerbase, a minimal one perhaps but nothing on the levels of people going into the movies. Of course I could be wrong, again this is my own opinion so anybody is free to disagree, but I doubt that the investment would be worth it on the long run.

I think (with my sum total of 0 experience in advertising) that a spot before The Force Awakens would have seen a pretty good ROI, I think a lot of folks would have gone home and downloaded the game to at least give it a try, just from the hype and nostalgia of Star Wars surrounding it. But that was a twice in a lifetime shot (the other being the Phantom Menace I think it would have worked for too), and I don't think it would be worth it for any of the other SW movies.

  19. I'll send this on to the team to look into. Thanks for the heads up.

    -eric

Please put the nerfs back in for Tyth and A&E as well. The OP as released was more difficult than pretty much all the other HM bosses in the game, which was fine for the progression in the beginning. However, at this point there is no point in making the OP inaccessible to a large portion of the HM raiders in the game. Nerf these bosses so folks can start doing PUGS for this like almost every other HM OP in the game allows for.

  20. @Andryah

Actually with starparse you can do an OPs group, where everyone sees everyones dps, so there are still ******es that use that to degrade people. But any tool can be misused. The only time someone should be called on their dps is when the spam basic attk and wont even take peoples advice on how to do even the basic rotation.

Honestly, I don't even care too much about this. I pretty much only care about dps numbers when lack of DPS causes a wipe (usually to enrage, or another mechanic that requires good enough dps). Then I want to see numbers. My policy is if I join a HM OP (other than EV/KP) and Starparse isn't used, I'll give it two wipes (Starparse also has a death recap, which is ridiculously useful) otherwise I'm out.

I'd love it if BW put one in, just for people's own sake. It doesn't have to be public, just something for people to see for themselves how they are doing. Because a lot of folks breezed through solo content and so think they are great, when actually they are doing really poorly. Unlike what Andryah thinks, it's pretty rare that the person who is cc'ing adds, peeling off the healer, throwing out cleanses, and doing every other mechanic and pulling 500 less dps then someone else is gonna get crucified for it. It's the person who is literally doing none of that, and is basic attacking and pulling 2k dps that causes the boss to enrage (or someone who is doing something they shouldn't. I remember a Grob'thok HM where we were in Starparse, and one of the dps kept taunting off the tank. He was trying to pull Grob'thok under the magnet, cause the tank wasn't very good, but no one died anyway, until we hit enrage, and this guy pulled 2.5k dps, and then started blaming the tank. Dude, I get you were trying to help, but at the end of the day, you are the one who wiped us, not the bad tank. We pulled again, healers basically healed us through bad tanking, and this guy actually focused on the boss, and we killed it no problem).

  21. Last evening PVP was probably another all time low.... I am seriously thinking of quitting the game right now. Getting bad teams and having enemy team walk over you isn't fun. WHAT THE ********* ????? I am dead 10 seconds after respawn because no matter where I go, 5 enemies respond to calls in packs and my team is clueless.. no call, no focus, no nothing.....

Also, I am starting to notice a very very bad new trend in PVP now: People get in match, look around at their teams composition and see bads then quit... This is really bad and a side effect of "balanced matchmaking". When I get in game and see 2 or 3 people quit, that's already bad news for the game ahead meaning: congratulations, for the sake of balance the game has put you in another clueless team, enjoy":mad::mad:

On my legacy I have over 7000 PVP games played and I am not deleting or reloading another account to take part in this stupidity. Bring back old matchmaking and make sure each team has heals. Thank you. That's all we need

Forgive me for assuming that you have a habit of exaggerating or using hyperbole given these statements in the last day. Alternatively, you have done 2k PVP matches in the last 24 hours, in which case, I am very impressed.

I think I have around 5000 PVP matches across legacy

I have over 6000 games in PVP across my legacy

I have over 7000 PVP games played

    Hey folks,

Please use this thread to post your feedback on the 5.9.2 Matchmaking Changes. A few reminders:

    • Our goals are to shorten the WZ and GSF queues while also ensuring matches are more fair in all modes.
    • Please try to reserve your feedback until after you have played the changes on PTS.
    • Make sure to include as many specifics as possible that are relevant to your feedback.
    • If your feedback is about a bug, please use the PTS bug report forum. This thread is aimed solely at feedback.

You can find a full list of the changes, here:

    • All Warzone and Starfighter queues are now cross-faction
    • The Unranked Warzone queue will now always prioritize Warzones over Arenas. An Arena match will only pop if there are not enough players to populate a full Warzone match at that time.
    • Role Balancing:
      • Matchmaking will never place more than 2 tanks or healers on the same team in a Warzone or 1 tank or healer for an Arena.
      • Matchmaking will always do its best to balance the amount of tanks and healers on each team. If there are 2 healers, each team will receive one if possible, the same is true of tanks.
      • In situations where there are an odd number of tanks / healers, matchmaking will do its best to place the combined number of tanks and healers evenly (example: there are 3 healers and 1 tank, matchmaking will attempt to make the teams 2 healers vs 1 tank 1 healer.)

      [*]Skill Balancing:

      • Matchmaking will more strongly take player skill into account when making teams.
      • Premade groups queuing for Ranked and Unranked Warzones and GSF will now have their matchmaking skill based on the highest rated member, not the team’s average rating.
      • Galactic Starfighter matchmaking has been improved to better account for player experience along with their currently selected ship loadout.

    -eric

Eric specifically mentioned experience (which I assume means games played, since there isn't another way to look at that) with regards to GSF, whereas everythign else he said was about both GSF and PVP. They are looking at skill, but they are not going to release it so people can't game the system, because I guarantee, as soon as they do release the info, people will immediately start throwing matches to get lower rating. There was literally a thread about this a few days ago about people throwing matches in lowbies in order to game the system, and if they release the actual results, it will tell a lot.

If you (and the others who are saying "matchmaking is broken") want to be taken seriously, take screenshots of the final results of a bunch of matches. We can see the scores, we can see the DPS/Healing/Guarding/Objectives, and then we can discuss it. But right now, all it is is anecdotal people who have played a lot of PVP, and have said many times that they are good, are being put on teams with people who are pretty bad, which is literally what matchmaking is designed to do.

Also, don't bother including matches that required backfilling. The only match that I was in since the patch dropped that I would say was a "stomp" (i.e. a significant difference in final outcome objectively speaking) was one where at the end of the match, my team has 17 names listed on it, vs. the 8 on the other team. I'm willing to give BW a pass on backfilling matches, because better to at least have a body then it be 5v8 the whole match.

  22. What you say makes sense. But my understanding of how it’s supposed to work is the queue only reverts to arena when the queue numbers are low, that includes people in matches.

My understanding has been "in queue" means "in queue waiting for a pop". Considering the folks inside matches is kinda silly, seeing as how there are matches that can go for 15 or even 20 minutes or more depending on how things go, and for all BW knows, every single person in the match may leave after the match. No, the way they are doing it is almost certainly looking at how many are in queue (waiting for a match) and then making sure the person waiting the longest doesn't wait longer than some arbitrary amount (5 or 10 minutes probably) and if there aren't 16 people by that point, do an arena.

It is definitely not including people currently in matches, because at 8pm, there weremultiple matches of multipe wzs going on at a time, and since you got an arena, there is no way that could have happened if that only happened when there were 8 people total in queue and in matches.

  23. Eh? since when was Seattle way up north?

Since Seattle is one of the northmost cities in the US, the country where the SWTOR studio is located (incidentally it's located in Texas, about 1500 miles, or 2400 km south of Seattle).
