  1. Yeah. Have been leveling one pretty hard tonight and...while I love the story to bits I *hate* the class with a flaming passion. It's like playing a Vanilla warrior. In modern WoW. All the tanks have their neat toys and pretty stuff and we are stuck with badly distributed skill trees, workmanlike 'rarrgh this saber is really heavy' super long animation backloaded attacks and sod all AOE threat. I am likely going to shelve him at 50 and wait on a fix. From what I've seen, no guild wants a SW when there is a PT available.
  2. Vette is cuter. I will be keeping my sassy little blue lady around as long as possible
  3. ...Wat? Oh, I get it. "Your class is fine, despite being not recruited by most smart guilds *at all* and then as a last resort only. Despite the overwhelming opinion on the forums, I am right due to a fabricated story in PvP at lower levels". Gotcha.
  4. 1) At present there are way more people playing the game before 50 than at 50. 2) Juggy has huge problems endgame, which is why they are being recruited as a last resort only.
  5. Yikes - I feel your pain. Had similar problems back in Africa (much better in Japan though). As said, was primarily going off what I read on the forums coupled with my experiences tanking in game. At present, it looks like: BH/Trooper > Shadow/Sassy ----------------- > ------------------ JK/SW.
  6. First day here, and already I have formed several very solid impressions on the game based on the information on these forums. 1) If you want to tank, roll a Trooper/BH. 2) If you want to dps, don't roll a melee class. 3) If you want to raid, don't roll a Knight/Warrior at all. 4) Game had good graphics, but they took a lightsaber to the knee sometime in beta. 5) Jedi and Sith classes are not perfect mirrors. Apparently this all lies in favour of Empire classes. However, it is not a problem at all, according to Empire players - balance just makes things 'boring'. 6) PvP is the 'real' game and Pve is only for people who don't have the skill to PvP. 7) PvE is the 'real' game and PvP is only for psychotic overcompetitative poopsockers in high school. 8) The omission of a Group Finder (or any decent LFG tool) is somehow good for a game community. Apparently spamming /General for 45 minutes to find a group for a leveling dungeon, then spending 15 minutes getting everyone to the dungeon, then wordlessly plowing through it in 10 minutes is somehow better than waiting 5 minutes for a group and wordlessly plowing through it in 10 minutes. 9) No one has any good looking armor at all. 10) No one that doesn't have a gaming mouse should be allowed to play video games. 11) Anything that isn't Dark Souls level hard, grindy, overtuned or outright broken is Super Casual and will kill this game. 12) Anything convinient, streamlined, consolidated or simplified is Super Casual and will kill this game. 13) Damage meters will kill this game. 14) Macros will kill this game. 15) Addons will kill this game. 16) When an Imperial player ganks a Republic player, it's working as intended. When a Republic player ganks an Imperial player, the person is a worthless cowardly noob. 17) Only kids play Republic. 18) Only hardcores play Empire. 19) Bioware doesn't care about my class and have deliberately gimped it to persaude people to not play my class. What did you learn today? Note - this post is not intended to be taken seriously, troll, or offend anyone. Taking it seriously is done entirely at your own risk.
  7. The impression I am getting from forums today is: If you want to tank, roll Trooper/BH. If you want to dps, roll a ranged. If you want to raid, don't roll a JK/SW.
  8. Haha probably, I have just spent a few hours reading the forums. I arrived feeling excited about starting my SW this evening, but currently feel like I need to roll a BH/Trooper or go back to WoW if I want to tank :| Not looking for easymode, but don't want T12 DK all over again. If I need to put hand-breaking button spam and significantly more effort to be on *par* with another class, then doesn't that mean the class is underpowered (since someone of equal skill with a better class will always be a better choice?).
  9. Is your companion the Lizard dude, or using a taunt? I never had this problem. I would have loved to see Shadow/Sage differences in the storyline, considering how different the two classes are both lore wise and in feel.
  10. ...Wat? If a class is substantially harder to play than another, than it is imbalanced and needs to be fixed. Reason being that if you need to be more skilled than another player to be on equal footing due to your class, then you will never be equal to a player as good as you. From everything I've heard SW/JK tanking is awful and they are being turned away en-masse from guilds doing progression content.
  11. Yeah, it's 100% subjective Really, I found that with slow time it's awesome, and after the buff it's going to be crazy. Compared to my friend's JK who has to tab target and pray to hold threat on 3 targets.
  12. Starting to narrow down what I want to play. I am a diehard tank and looking to eventually move into largescale group endgame activities. So - which tank would you say is best for Flashpoints/Operations? Which is the one guilds are looking for at present? Would prefer a JK/SW tbh (if only because their companions appeal to me most) but... Have been browsing the forums and it seems (from my interpretation). JK/SW > Overpopulated > Bad AoE tanking. > Button heavy to the extent that people without gaming keyboard/mouse have actually experienced physical pain. > Lots of hard work to get on par with other classes. Shadow/Sassy > Extremely strong to the point of being OP, both as tanks and leveling. > Bad storylines. > Very newbie friendly. Trooper/BH > Pretty damn strong > Rare in a tanking role > Hard to gear Does this accurately represent your experiences? Would love some feedback beyond "play the class you like ^_^".
  13. My first class through. For the most part, a lot of fun. Honestly, in terms of pure mechanics this class is *brokenly* strong when it comes to soloing/tanking and the only time I had any trouble was when I overpulled or tried to take on higher level gold mobs by myself. However... 1) I am a Jedi Shadow. A finesse based infiltrator/'good' assasin/troubleshooter. But my storyline is basically that of a healer 2) 3) Why don't I get to infiltrate or do shadowy stuff? 4) Act 1 felt like a maguffin hunt. 5) No interesting companion until 20s. No female companion until 40s (highly annoying). 6) Why does an infiltration class use the most ostentatious weapon possible? 7) Why does my project have a 1 second delay compared to it's mirror? So irritating. 8) The class is absurdly strong at AOE tanking and is either due a nerf or JKs need a buffing. 9) Why does my ship look like a giant hovercar? I enjoyed my Shadow for the most part - but the class and quest overall felt like the designers *want* you to play a Sage. A female one. Starting work on my Sith Warrior this evening.
  14. This thread made me sad. I was looking forward to rolling a Warrior when I got home from work. This has totally put me off :| Sigh, back to my shadow or roll a Sassy I guess ?
  15. Actually, there are some significant advantages to Sorcerer over Sage. The biggy to me was the huge animation delay on Project versus Lightning (a major damage dealer).
  16. Thanks Riot. So...would you say that we are more gear dependant/in a worse position than the other tanks?
  17. This sounds absolutely obnoxious and I hope it's fixed. Just make the parry animation not play if another ability is being used, but the deflection still occurs. May look silly, but will fix this easily.
  18. I don't know. Am reading forums right now and am getting depressed. From how I understand it, even after the buffs I will need to work twice as hard to tank *almost* as effectively as a Powertech or Darkness user :| Already went through this on my Deathknight back in WoW. Don't want it again. Ugh.
  19. Thanks, some good replies. Curious as to why there is so much complaining from Juggernauts/Marauders compared to other classes as far as leveling goes. Was story any good? The only other class I've really taken a long look at was a Jedi Shadow and abandoned that due to my dislike for the story/companions. Would love to hear from some endgame tanks, since I am definately looking to raid...operate...whatever it's called down the line.
  20. So after giving some of the classes a look, I am getting ready to choose a main and am leaning towards a tank. Sith Warrior is probably the class that appeals most to me on the Emp side. However I've read a *lot* of posts about how awful the leveling experience is and how bad the class is at tanking. Is this true? What exactly makes it like this? Would you recommend a Juggernaut to another player?
