TL : DR -> We're Fecking Cool, Cause we're Social, Hardcore, Progression, Leveling, Old and Young all in One! Why Floor Inspectors? Well everyone has his own play style, but everyone who knows MMO's knows there are Generally 2 types of Guilds: Hardcore Guilds Social Guilds You can be in either one of these, but rarely in both. Hardcore Guilds are in general more demanding on their members, they aim for Progression in Endgame content and as such ask of their members to do everything they can to forward that progression. What Hardcore Guilds have: - Strict raid times. - Strict signups. - Strict gear requirements. - Strong hierarchical structure where people follow orders. Social Guilds often lack real progression as they simply don't have the Discipline or dedication from their Members to achieve this. However Social Guilds often have an active 'Guild Life' and players in such guilds make Friends and generally focus on Having a Good time online playing a game they love. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok... so how does this answer my Question? Why Floor Inspectors? Well it didn't yet, however to explain our Guild to you I needed to create a Context. Now add to this Context that the origin of MMO's lies about 10 years back (could be a little more or less). Take into account now, that the Current Generations of Gamers range from approximately 5 to 40 years old (there are exceptions over 40, but not many). 10 Years ago, the Oldest Gamer was probably around 30.. and the General Gamer popuplation was aged around 20 or younger. It was during these times that MMO came into it's own and the First Guilds and Clans were formed and world wide Competitions started to come into their own. (Clanbase etc.) Now.. if you know this, you also know that it's very Natural for Hardcore Guilds to be as they are and to have developed as they have. To meet Endgame Content headon, Guilds needed strong discipline to over come the 'Youthfulness' of their Members. Leaders were despotic and often also lacked Experience in being Leaders as they hadn't really been Managers, Leaders, Teachers, Coaches themselves before really... They often just happened to be the most A. Type Personality in the Group. Outgoing and Forceful. Now.. Gaming has Evolved. Games have Evolved... and the People that Play games have Evolved and developed. The Audience today is much broader than the Audience ever was before. Guilds and Clans slowly remove the Boundaries of Age, however the fact remains that there is always some form of Generational Gap. Older Gamers have Wives, Families, Jobs and Real Life obligations. They are also more experienced, Older and often Calmer.. they have been around and been Gaming for Years. Younger Gamers are often more Skilled, Quicker to Learn, Easier to Adapt and more Prone to Master newer Techologies and Concepts. However.. MMO's in particular and the Guilds in them.. have created a place for both Groups to Merge and Mingle.. a Melting pot of Experience and Youthful Energy and Skill. Ok, so that's a lot of Background, What are you saying? Well. In my Humble Opinion as a GuildMaster... Floor Inspectors is the First true guild that has embraced both worlds and combined them succesfully in a Guild.. - Floor Inspectors is an online Community called Home by Experienced older gamers as well as Young talent and enthusiastic Gamers. - In our Guild we combine the worlds of Hardcore Raiding of Old, with the needs for more Social and IRL Respecting elements of Modern Gaming. Just like the 'New Working' is independent of Place and Time, our Guild works to make Gaming Independent of Time and Place and Age as much as possible. - We Build Friendships and Bonds that last beyond the Game and it's progression, but these same Bonds also Forge a Stronger team and better teamwork and thus strengthen our ability to Progress. - If you have IRL Obligations, Kids, Jobs etc... our Guild will not Shun you, there is a place for you Among us. A place were we will value you for that which you can bring to Share. We will use your strength to Progress. It's Natural selection. Good Guilds grow and keep attracting new members, because they have good reputations and manage to progress. Smaller, less well organised guilds will eventually dissolve. Members will leave and Guilds disband. This game is relatively young. Floor Inspectors is endgame Full Progression, however we only sport around 70 members of which only 20 are online every night actively. However our community is strong, personal, fun and skilled, yet open to everyone. We're growing every day.. and people adapt our mindset etc. My personal experience over the years is that "Guild Mergers" are usualy the start of the end. If 2 equal sized guilds join, they will both compete for control eventually..... and it will break the Guild. This is the reason we only accept smaller groups or individual members into our guild. They will be absorbed into the whole and add to our Guild rather than divide it. I like the diversity.. there is still lots of opportunity to grow as a Guild in our community.
