  1. Buffed and with exotech Health: 27924 Aim: 1549 Armor: 8855 , 54.05% Defense: 17.42 (346) Shield: 56.02 (651) Abosrb: 57.02 (481)
  2. The answer is in this thread already: It will give you 110% of the ranged dps threat. Because he is the highest threat holder but he doesnt have aggro yet and because you are in melee range.
  3. That was true for World of Warcraft, this game has different taunt mechanics. It works the way other posters pointed out.
  4. Im sorry to say but there is nothing special about your build. Basically its a version of an old "carolina parakeet" build that has been dead for some time now. Maybe not dead but severly castrated since PPA cant procc with ion gas cylinder any more. Certainly its possible to use it but its nowhere near as strong as it used to be. http://www.swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=147738
  5. I went for 53 endurance mods on all my gear netting me 27.5k hp fully raid buffed without sacrificing my defensive stats too much. My reasoning was that its better to trade 13 rating for 21 endurance. Many boss fights feature damage types and mechanics that cant be mitigated using our defensive stats and the only sponge to it is endurance. The highest hit Ive takes was 11.5k from kephess the undying.
  6. I dont have time to get into more detailed calculations but you have to remember one thing: how much rating would it take to achieve those defensive stats you mentioned? This way you will see if that difference comes from stat distribution or simply one set overgears the other one. Also you must take into consideration that there are many bosses with attacks that cant be shielded or defended against so you might have to drop some shield/def in favour of endurance which is the only defensive stat that works against all types of attacks
  7. Its almost impossible to get 25% defence on powertech and not gimping your other stats but I always aim to have around 17% defence. Seems enough for everything.
  8. In that case it makes sense to mix those talents. But Id much rather have all the tools necessary for the job. And Power Armor is in my oppinion one of the best talents for pvp tanks. Maybe its only 2% damage but it always works and you really should consider taking it. Also, maybe damage is not the most important thing for us, but I have run several days with parser on and most of my damage comes from flameburst, so taking even 3% damage increase on it will work better for you than any damage boost on IGC procs which hits like a wet nooodle.
  9. Your tanking tree for powertech is quite strange, you made some talent choices that make no sense in pve. For tanking this one will do much more good for you: http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#301G0GrdoroGRZMcdZb.2
  10. Also, there is no mechanic that makes any of the bosses untauntable. If the dps is too fast and tank has to taunt while still having fearful he has to stand still and dont attack. The boss will still stick to him thanks to the threat the other tank built. Once the debuff is gone- resume attacking. Everyone has to be aware of their debuffs.
  11. My opener is a bit different. After leap I use Flame Sweep 2 times but after that I prefer to rocket punch+railshot to let my dps go all-out from the start. Followed by 3x Flameburst and Heatblast to build up my heat screen, then Thermal sensor override with flamethrower or DFA to vent heat built at the start. Also using DFA so early in the fight is not possible because you are running with boss into your position. By the time you get there your stacks should be up and you can use DFA/flamethrower. And yes I forgot to say that earlier- Powertech mechanics is not built around defence and stacking it you are making yourself less efficient in the long run.
  12. You seem to confuse attack type with damage type. There are 4 attack types and 4 damage types. Melee and ranged wich can be avoided or shielded tech and force with cannot be avoided or shielded Then there are damage types: kinetic and energy wich can be mitigated by armor elemental and internal wich cannot be mitigated by armor Remember that when stacking your defensive stats. Also avoiding an attack completely is not always better than shielding it. When looking at defensive capabilities you cant just look at one attack, you have to take into consideration whole boss fight and calculate how much damage has been avoided by calculating attacks doged and damage absorbed thanks to your shield. In perfect world having 25% defence is practically the same as having 50%shield/50% absoprtion (nets you the same damage reduction in the end).
  13. Thats probably one of the worst talents to take, everyone avoids it so I really dont know why would you mark it as a must have. Those 3 points are really better spent anywhere other than here, 600hp in the best case scenario is just not worth it. In my BM tanking gear and endurance stim Im around 22k HP anyways.
  14. Umm... Youre sure you read the topic right? Its not about the dot from CGC but about PPA proc. And since its chance based there is a universe where it never procced
  15. Statistically, its possible to never have it procced. The chance for it to happen is extremly low but still there is one.
  16. I actually use the shield as often as I can, except the figths with soft enrage on a set timer. If I save it for the moment when everything goes bad I tend to just not use it for the fight (is it now? or in a sec? oh ****, its not going to help anyways). I rotate it with oilslick and my trinket and that means I almost always have some kind of additional protection buff/debuff up. So yea, popping shield on every cooldown to help my healers conserve their resources. Also 4 pc bonus is a huge boost. With already high ratings of each defensive stat a flat bonus to your main function (ie, reducing damage taken) is, in my oppinion one of the best bonuses out there. Having said that, Im interested how this build would work in real fight, I can imagine several uses for it and it definatelly deserves a closer look.
  17. All-time worst: Tionese/Columni/Rakata helmets *** do i get a rain gutter all over my head?!
  18. Yeah, youre right, its Veracity. It has more defence and shield than rakata and you can smack absorption implant on it. You will loose like.... 300hp but it doesnt really make a huge diffrence, having 21k hp with stim is all you need really.
  19. It is possible to win using all the cooldowns you have. Then again, I dont think the game is supposed to be balanced towards 1v1 combat.
