  1. as long as they take it off these dreaded rails. Last time I checked 1995 was already over
  2. for example paradroid 90 was one of the greatest games of all times. Please make this often badly copied concept a minigame if you are on a mission to click on some random panel to override something. BtW- would also fit into orbital stations!! Story missions are too often, click on this, active that, override whatever. This is a totally boring concept, if I need to override anything it should be done by passing a Minigame, and I mean loads of different Star Wars themed games. add challenging, fun games please ! Less old fashionend MMO gameplay, get creative!
  3. well BW, add a space flight simulator on top with exploration and trading, and I'll happily stay subscribed forever. Also make the game feel more like a sandbox - check out star wars galaxies
  4. Orbital stations are not bad, the bad thing is static loading screens and black screens instead of cool transitional rendered cutscenes, also that you can not do anything useful on these stations. There should be special locations you can reach via the orbital stations. Put some story on, or special shops, a repair dock, a shop to buy or modify ships, a camera mode to spy on the planet surface, a cantina social hub where you can sit, have a drink and chat, and make it landable as soons as spaceflight freeroaming is implemented. Also, these stations would be a great hub for starting space based missions, trading requests, go shoot pirates, defend the stations or investigate an ancient race deep in a mysterious part of the universe. Check out Freelancer or Privateer, a lot of stuff happened on stations. by the way, forget the loading screens, who would want to see these? Better give us the impression of travelling with cool cutscenes or a schematic view of some map screen.
  5. It is kind of sad that this was not part of the initial release. I used to play SW Galaxies and all X-Wing parts back in the 90ies, loved the space battle part. The rail shooter is such a basic substitute, nothing more than a good looking minigame. BW should really spill the beans what to expect and just a very rough timeframe. A year? Two? Should I pause my subscription and come back when the game has expanded and matured? Without space exploration/trading it is really half the fun of SW Galaxies...
  6. yes, please give us back the sound effect. And free roaming space combat.
  7. anyone else disappointed about the missing info on space free roaming and mutiplayer space battle?
  8. that concept is just wrong. A house on a planet is different thing like the generic space ships. How do players build a settlement or village with ships?
  9. I read there was nothing said about it on the guild summit. Too bad. Will check out some old Jump to Lightspeed videos, and continue to ask myself if SWTOR will ever reach the coolness of SWGalaxies.
  10. they should do it, this kind of character change is the major part of Star Wars, look at Darth Vader. imagine, as soon as you reach light III on the empire side, you meet a special character who offers you to join the republic, and vice versa for dark III on the republic side. This faction changing option is really a must have for a storyline driven game like SWTOR.
  11. or, are you a Jedi, feeling more passion or uncontrolable hatred? Become a Sith Apprentice! So the point is, we need to get renegade contacts to the opposite faction.. of course, we need to prove ourselves with passing a series of missions, or even prove as spies and boycott a PvP mission as disguised enemy. Epic idea? Or not? Voice your opiniom!
  12. Renting speeders for 24 or more hours and leaving them at certain parking spaces would be much more fun than spawning them out of nowhere. Imagine your time runs out and a character is a after you to confiscate your speeder or ask you for more money. Epic. Am I too spoiled by games like GTA4 and all these little funny pieces of realism?
  13. Leia did it, Luke did it, Han Solo too - they disguised themselves as imperials, spies and stormtroopers. This needs to be implemented to infiltrate the other faction. It should be temporary (5 minutes max), but would be epic to add fun to the gameplay. There could be items called "Republic disguise kit" or "Imperial disguise kit" you could use. Good opportunity for surprise attacks.
  14. Let's talk about this without the usual emotion or prejudice whether Bioware can handle this request or not. Money doesn't seem to be the problem, and expanding the team should be possible, if BW needs to do that. You can buy all know-how of the world with money, so you can bring on board the very best combat simulation team as well. SWTOR has a bright future, after all it is based on one of the top selling brands. Why is Star Wars the best selling brand? It made dreams come true about exploring worlds, meeting strange aliens, Jedis or Sith with superhuman abilities, a lot of other great characters going through space without limitation, the eternal fight good vs. evil. This all is Star Wars. If BW manages to breath life into this world, it will succeed and earn the tons of money it deserves and will reinvest into expanding the game for us, the community. Space combat and free roaming experience is an integral part of the Star Wars feeling. I think BW is smart enough and they already know that we are expecting nothing less than a SW Galaxies, X-Wing/Freelancer 2 experience, so they have my trust we will be blown away by what they have in mind for a space roaming expansion. Let me fight a space battle and get out of it to find Dagobah in a huge universe, like I look for datacrons. Let me land on it manually, going through the atmosphere of the planet. Let me land in a swamp and let me get my ship out of the swamp by using the force. Let me find Yoda's grand-grandfather and do some secret, special missions for him, like crafting a special object or raiding half of the universe to get a special item to proceed the story.
  15. Thank you.. believe it or not, once I worked in close relation to a certain game design department, but in a different field (not at all related to BW or EA, don´t worry) but there was always a management which cut down great features which "they" found unnecessary or not financially rewarding. Sadly, they often had none or only light gaming experience and didn´t know what really makes a game fun to play. Anyway, if the above mentioned expansion is really in the works, and the basic ground game gets expanded too, according to the most mentioned requests, SWTOR will succeed and last a very long time with huge subscription numbers. If not, the future may not be as bright and long lasting. I suggest BW, if they are lacking experience in that field, to team up with the original "X-Wing" devs of Lucasarts (like Laurence Holland - now at "Totally Games") to build the only, epic space combat MMO out there. There simply is none out on the market like I described. They could even consult people like Chris Roberts, who did the Wing Commander series. Money does not seem to be the problem, and the potential of new subscribers would simply be enormous. It would fit perfectly into the SWTOR setting which is already there.
  16. True.. A new Star Wars game of these epic proportions just can´t get away with a simple rail shooter. A game of this size and cost needs at least a fully fledged space sim like good old "X-Wing vs. Tie Fighter", plus real free roaming space exploration and flying and encountering new planets plus atmospheric flight and manual landing on planets, space docks, enemy ships. Of course all set in a multiplayer universe (best would be without instances) but also offering some single player accomplishments. Yes, a space game of epic proportions revoltionizing the space sim combat genre needs to be set on top what is already there - then it will eventually become a real Star Wars simulator, like Star Wars Galaxies was in its glorious times. Huge multplayer raids, going on a Deathstar-trench raid or dogfighting a huge capital ship with 24 or more friendly fighters. Imagine walking around on the fleet.. a sirene starts.. you run to the fighter bays for this event, enter your ship and are seated in a cockpit. You fly out, set your course you can choose of either fleeing to another system or join the crowd in fighting an attacking guild ship or AI ship in space combat, or landing on it, getting out of the cockpit and fighting PvP there..

  18. By the way: I wish I could run over Jawas with my speeder, like in GTA. (And of course, people.)
  19. Are you sure that these points are "extremely nitpicky"? - No day/night cycle The worlds now always look the same, ALWAYS. There would be literally thousands of possible combinations of "moods" on the planets, if you have time progression, changing shadows, rain, snow. Ever checked out Red Dead Redemption? The setting sun on a wild west prairie, or the morning sun rising? Imagine that on alien planets.. Bingo. - No swimming Quests involving underwater areas would be awesome, also would fit very well into the Star Wars universe since Episode 1. - No housing One of my major disappointments. - No Pazaak, Sabacc, Dejarik, races, casino, etc... exactly, nothing to do in between instead of the rail shooter and some crafting? - Dumbed down character creation For a universe full of different races, this is really weak. - No high res textures The game graphics are definitely not on par with Guild Wars 2 or Skyrim. - No environmental interaction (chairs, walls, doors, etc...) True! The environment is lifeless and there is no interaction unless it has anything to do with a quest. Where are other objects like the cantina jukebox? - Simple combat with static enemies True, enemies stand around in groups waiting to be slashed. Probably the worst AI I´ve seen for a long, long time ago. - Unconvincing and stiff animations correct - Empty dead worlds with not enough NPCs moving around correct, it´s not a convincing living, breathing world - No collision detection that bugs me too - Restriction in choice of starship I can live with that - No ship decoration would be nice to have - Dumbed down space combat ABSOLUTELY. This games needs to have an X-Wing Vs. Tie-Fighter space combat, asap. - No multiplayer space combat YES! - Less planets than announced correct, where is the exploration feeling in space? The freedom to travel through the universe? It´s Star Wars! - Planets rated by levels with no reason to go back sad, but true. This was a huge downer.
  20. How cool is that! Silly stuff like that would make SWTOR even more fun, like it.
  21. I tried SW Galaxies shortly before it was shut down. Now SWTOR.. I never checked out WOW. I do not like fantasy settings, trolls and elves.
  22. ok then it is certainly not an option, I see true, that works fine Good to know, I certainly do not want worse performance, I´m already having some FPS drops with this game, which should not happen on an 8-core and a GTX 480 playing at 2560x1600
  23. Ok, I see the point of this. But would there be any objection if I personally can turn on that I want player and NPC collision in the preferences? I wouldn´t mind if players can pass through me. I only gut stuck once when I fell down a mountain on Alderaan so far.
