  1. It's a bit late but I though I'd make the addition. Guild Name: Manticore Guild Website: http://swtor-manticore.enjin.com/ Server: The Red Eclipse Region: Europe Dread Master Bestia Date: 29th June 2014 | 10:35:05 PM (GMT+2) Dread Master Tyrans Date: 07th July 2014 | 9:23:21 PM (GMT+2) Dread Master Calphayus Date: 07th July 2014 | 11:59:53 PM (GMT+2) Dread Master Raptus Date: 21th July 2014 | 9:12:20 PM(GMT+2) The Dread Council Date: 09 September 2014 | 12:18:22 AM (GMT+2) It's my first post here so I hope it is correct
  2. do some random L55 FP's for gear and when you're not getting anything then HM L55's FP's. Operations run in such an order in terms of gear requirement and difficulty: Eternity Vault (EV) SM Karraga's Palace (KP) SM Explosive Conflict (EC) SM EV HM KP HM EC HM EV NiM KP NiM EC NiM (this is significantly harder and I suggest you wait with trying it until you have at least done TFB/S&V HM) Terror From Beyond (TFB) SM Scum and Villainy (S&V) SM Dread Fortress (DF) SM Dread Palace (DP) SM (this one is a bit harder then previous one - might need slightly more gear then DF) TFB, S&V HM DF, DP HM TSB, S&V NiM (those drop worse gear but are significantly harder then DF/DP HM) DF, DP NiM I suggest you do SM versions first in order I have provided. Look into class duides on Dulfy and learn at least right and left skill trees specs on your DPS If you ever get to L55 NiM's you'll be in raiding guild by that time anyway and won't need our advise here
  3. When I first started playing SWTOR someone took me aside AFTER completing lowbie Maelstrom Prison and explained to me all the tricks of shadow tanking. Later on when I was already decently competent tank one of the healers from then top progression group dragged me into their TS and explained all the tricks and details of tanking, DPSing and healing TFB HM (then it was top content). I wouldn't be where I got so far if they didn't take their time. I never mind explaining or helping or whatever if people actually give sign they give a damn and try to do better. I do have less and less patience for people who don't give a damn and make doing any content (including PVP) a horrible experience for myself and others. (I guess this is called becoming a "broken veteran" in MMO)
  4. To be fair if you just say that you are first timer 90% of people will explain what is needed or tell you to follow someone or something. Just don't stand in bad and kill stuff (I assume you're a DPS). Be nice, talk to people, ask and you'll be fine. If someone is being an arsehole ignore him
  5. This doesn't make any sense. 1. What of people who can't possibly need on any item in the particular op due to having all of them on current character? Eg. I don't have any characters on repside that would need any sub-NiM gear and have some NiM gear on several characters. I still can use some HM tokens to gear my imp alts though and once in a while I will help someone who is missing a player be that friendly guild or a PUG. If I'm not allowed to roll against 7/15 other people why would I do that? 2. Tank wins a belt on Nefra and is not allowed on to roll on anything else? What about tank who has the belt but needs the mod somewhere else according to your rules he can't roll? But other class who can just buy BIS belt from vendor can? Doesn't make sense. 3. Why would someone lock his crafter character in your group if he can't even roll against 7/15 people to get 20% chance of RE? You can pronounce such rules, but you're sabotaging your chances of getting decent players/characters in it.
  6. It's a bit off topic but in my experience with helping less geared/experienced groups it's usually either too low DPS on adds or mine getting over 3 stacks. There isn't that much healing going on there if you do it right, if you don't do it right not even healer healing over 4000EHPS will save you (and he'll be killed by adds most probably anyway). Also don't think about your buffs too much. Handling adds and boss is much more important that your DR. With time you won't have to think about your rotation.
  7. I as people looking for 1 more this morning for Nar Shadda ones. So it's not that rare (two occurrences only this week while I was watching fleet chats)
  8. You find groups forming for those from time to time. I just finished the storyline on my impside ALT after more then 6 months of carrying it around.
  9. Of course guardians use master strike. It's just low priority. Full auto is not rotational, but can be useful for mobs that are very far away and can't be pulled in.
  10. Than it's L2P issue not game issue. It's still very easy even in a PUG. They die VERY fast if attacked when they spawn.
  11. Ask not what others can do better, ask what you yourself can do better in the game Usually helps.
  12. I agree - it's great that there is something to do for less hardcore guilds. There are a lot of players who cleared HM, will never do NiM, and have nothing to do - and it's a nice competition I think. Also it's incentive to use rarely used ALT's. Only thing I would like to see for the rewards for doing HM/NiM to be significant enough for those guild who still have serious ops teams to not be at a loss. There shouldn't be a pressure to do several SM ops on ALT's instead of doing NiM run. Eg. instead of complete operation through group finder objective, could be objective: kill operations boss - 500 points, or something like that. But this is not significant problem in my opinion. Hardcore raiders will always have their shiny titles, mounts etc. and sense of achievement and congratulations form people you pass on the fleet and so on.
  13. Yeah of course. It's one of the easiest fights, but extremely boring due to it's length. Still I remembered the spikes without the gear and I was surprised to see them now and it requires actively using cooldowns before not after taking damage as the spikes are like - "bang you're almost dead, oh no, you're dead" Well anyway there is at least some stuff in the game that good team can do and not fall asleep I suppose.
  14. Healing in 16-man is completely different beast and for mainly 8-man guilds it's natural to make more mistakes. Also 5 healers is natural composition for me for hard content in 16-man. DPS checks are usually nowhere near what they are in 8-man anyway. But maybe I just have bad experience, it's just in my experience extremely competent raiders who clear buffed NiM content at gear level in 8-man become headless chickens in 16-man for some reasons ( I guess very few have PC's who can really handle 16-man). Original kill group I had for that for kill with buff probably wouldn't need much healing but not being that practised at this any more, bringing new people through it - there is a lot of healing going on. Especially during the shield no. 2 when usually everyone is very low and needs to be healed up to full immediately. Yeah it simply sucks, even the sound doesn't work properly. I found that there can be gigantic spikes on the tanks. When fighting the droids. Maybe it's gear optimised for DP NiM, but I did it recently as a tank and damage from the artillery droids is still nuts.
  15. [ You can now bring even 6 healers there if you want as the DPS check is non existant (you can safely 2-3man cores to be fair) . But the outgoing damage is interesting. Also last phase of Brontes is still interesting. And 16-man Corruptor Zero can be interesting But it's more about scaling to 16-man that is not quite right and most players not being used to 16-man NiM (I am surely not used to it) then a challenge itself. Current buffed Council NiM is completely different beast then all those fights. Only 2-3 places there are hard to heal - Thrasher has his crazy spikes and then it's warlords and maybe some combinations of droids in Olok the Shadow. On other bosses healers are mostly falling asleep. I think there is room for everyone, but it's not about playstyle, but about not trying to get better. As much time people put into griding comms in SM PUGs they could get much better at playing their classes. But developers don't seem to give them any kind of instruction that is in any way meaningful.
  16. The only thing I can't possibly see being done, and I tried, is tanking two adds on Bestia NiM with Guardian/Juggernaut. It just doesn't work - damage taken is MASSIVE. But I guess that will stop being an issue come 2.10
  17. It's kinda easy to be this type of bad healer in a FP or SM or even HM operation as suually there is very little damage outgoing, so you try to work around your damage skills that are all on cooldown and have something to do. On my healing Sorc I even run to bossess and started to smack them with saber strike quite a few times out of boredom And I'm by no means expert healer - it's my tertiary role after tank and DPS. While you are doing all that it's easy to miss that somebodies health dropped at last and you need to cast two, three heals My personal feeling is in PVE it would be optimal to have way more damage outgoing with bigger healthbars and healing being game of efficiency and resource management not who has faster reflexes or smaller lag (like it's often in NiM) . But I guess this wouldn't be viable for PVP so probably can't happen.
  18. On my DPS characters I can still try to maximise the damage, avoid mechanics and stuff even in SM or HM. As tank I can still do my job right. As a healer in SM or HM content only thing I can usually do is try to break 1k DPS.
  19. 16-man NiM TFB can be interesting to heal at times still. Same as S&V Warlords. But in general you are right of course. DF has been nerfed to oblivion and probably same will happen to DP. Which frustrates me even more as I still haven't killed council and had very limited tries on it. If it happens this week it will be way overdue.
  20. If the tank is really bad it's sometimes easier to kill or cc mobs that go for you as a healer then to heal yourself while waiting for DPS and tank to get to them. And you are right - FP fights are short enough that you can sacrifice your resources as a healer and heal through stupid. I once tried to keep a guy standing under a rocket in Cademimu up - he lived for a while surprisingly!
  21. Outside of NiM content that is what you do 80% of the time if group is semi-competent..... That is why there are so few really good NiM capable healers - they never get the practise that DPS and tanks get.
  22. But why rage about it? This flashpoint is dull face roll, mobs don't do any damage. It's most probably soloable anyway. I always kick barrels while there meanwhile killing mobs, healing people or tanking whatever I do at the time. Your problem is not with barrels or objectives but tons of bad players. Unfortunately there is no way to not interact with bad players. Would be so nice if there was some elite server you could progress to after completing some benchamarks for quality of game play
