  1. It's generally agreed that melee DPS are at a disadvantage to range DPS when it comes to bosses because of the AoE knockbacks and having to walk from trash to trash etc But it is in no way justifiable to deny anyone based on class. Me and Guildys cleared HM EV with melee DPS without issue. They just have no idea what a well played sentinel can do.
  2. Highest burst: Sniper/Gunslinger Highest sustained: Mercenary/Commando or arguably Sorcerer/Sage So for PvE I'd suggest a sustained DPS as not to steal aggro from your tank.
  3. Either all DPS classes need heals. Or none of them do. Any other solution is not balanced. You can't increase DPS of non-healing DPS or every other DPS will lose its viability. You can't refuse warriors, sniper and assassins heals because it decreases theyr utilty as a class.
  4. I think endgame raid gear looks great! Especially the Rakata color scheme. PvP is terribly ugly though. I can't stand it.
  5. Well look at that. Another person comparing SWTOR to other MMOs. Why does every MMO have to be like WoW or Rift etc? Can't you just enjoy the game for what it is? A NEWLY released game that already came with a tonne of awesome features. Give SWTOR a year of bug fixes, new content and patches and see what we have. I'm not denying it has a lot of flaws. I'm saying it's better than most MMOs I've played on release. Stop comparing it and start enjoying it.
  6. In PvP I never do those because I'm only in cover to get one rotation off, then I'm gone and moving to a new position. In PvE boss fights once I notice my dampers has been used, I hit w+space (space is key bound to portable cover). It takes 0.5 a second (cover animation) and I have another 3 defends buffs. Saved me a death countless times I'm sure.
  7. By most utility I mean stopping node captures with DoTs, defending turrets with AoE and running the ball with bubble+force speed. So what of we dont get high kills? We stop nodes being captured. This helps win the warzone. @TheIdiotAboveMeWhoClearlyHasntPlayedSage Try rolling one and see how difficult it is to actually kill an equally played opponent. IMO sages/sorcs are there to support a team rather than dominate the kills table. We are excellent at defending, our CCs and DoT make it fairly difficult for an enemy to cap anything. On the other hand, unless your seer/hybrid spec, survivability is poor. Seer spec here and I feel incredibly useful in warzones healing my team and DoT anyone I see.
  8. The cent/champ gear is bought from the vendors on the fleet for cent & champ commendations. To get the cent/champ coms you need to buy champion bags which cost 200 mercenary coms & 200 warzone commendations. You buy these bags at the PvP Vendor near the quest terminal on your fleet. You can purchase mercenary commendations from that vendor also. They are bought in bulk of 10, and cost 30 warzone commendations each. You effectively need 800 warzone commendation to buy one bag. This is very slow. A faster way to get the champion bags is from the PvP daily and weekly quests. You can pick these up at the PvP quest terminal on your fleet. They give Bags as reward. Not commendations. Each bag has 7 champion commendations and 15 centurion commendations. They also have a chance to drop a gear token. This can e traded for a specific champion item. I.E. Bracers token can be traded for champion bracers etc. If you need any help feel free to PM me with questions. I forget to check threads for replies to my post :L
  9. Was in the same boat, and went to HM flashpoints straight up with my guildmates (all fresh lvl 50). Got all my columi gear, then started PvP dailies to get champ gear. Now I'm working my way to Rakata in the HM ops. I found the Ilum/Belsavis dailies slow gearing compared to PvP and FP/Ops. The only reason I can see why I'd do them is for Rakata ear + implant. But if you find the HMs too difficult with Pugs, definitely gather your daily coms and upgrade your orange gear. There's a good website with FP guides which helped my guild a LOT. Just search Duffys healing corner online. The guide/site writer is an active forum go-er called Iwipe. More than anything don't just grind to get gear. The gear wasn't my priority when doing HM/Ops, I mainly wanted to see the content and experience it. (But YES the gear is great )
  10. Actually LOLed at the title. Yes, sage' are good at PvP, and are widely considered overpowered by the community. It is an extremely easy class to be 'good' at. And the viable hybrid options make it the class with the MOST UTILITY (completely indisputable, anybody who has rolled a decent sage/sorc will agree).
  11. I used to be a clicker, until around lvl 15 when a friend helped with my key bindings (group similar abilities together, all AoE same area, all DoT same modifier, defensive all same area etc) Sniper I have my melee abilities 1-3, all DoT alt+d,e,f, all AoE f,g,t This helped me get better when initially I was always looking at my skill bars to check which key was for my stun etc. I would HIGHLY recommend players try it. At least for a few levels just to see the other side of the story. I'll never click again (except opening my character page C is key bound to interrupt)
  12. Hated him from the start tbh :/ Kaliyo then Ensign Temple That's what worked best for me as a sniper (no heals). Had no problems at all, I just gave her my cast off gear and we dominated. The DPS is too high for mobs to take.
  13. Hah! Hilarious IMO My sniper managed it easily but my Jugg won't I assume seeing as he's body type 3 :L Ahh well it will get fixed eventually. At least there a long journey to reach the gap.
  14. Totally disagree. I solo'ed all the story content, and almost all the H2+. I even beat final boss without the lvl 50 ability upgrades. IMO its 100% a L2P issue. Average gear here too, by average I mean I spent my coms on my own gear. Used Kaliyo until I got to hoth, then used Ensign Temple from there on. Temple got my castoffs.
  15. Bogus. We had 6-7 marauders. We didnt even have a marauder on our group. Sorc, Jugg, Merc, Sniper. Incredibly frustrating. 3 attempts then our Merc healer had to leave. Gave up and did FE HM instead.
  16. No person experience with marauder but out of my Jugg and Sniper, I'd easily recommend Sniper. Yes you will be incredibly squishy, and destroyed if your CC is on CD. But even at fresh lvl 50 I was doing 180k damage minimal (3-4) deaths with around 25-30 kills (NO 50 gear). Can't say the same for my Jugg, I tried the Immortal and Rage specs and for PvE, Immortal was great. Pretty simple to tank HM flashpoints. Whereas PvP (either spec) I felt totally under-par with my team. Admittedly I always have preferred ranged class. Oh and the cover system is in no way a positive feature. In theory it is great, in practice it's bugged like crazy. Visit the sniper forum and see how many threads there are about this, unbelievable. Just my humbled opinion. EDIT: As a sniper your role in PvP is support, not scoring. I can stop a ball carrier dead. Only have trouble if they have 2+ healers. If anyone does pass to you, basic 'squishy' class rule applies. Throw it to someone with survivability
  17. Wait, let me check.... Yep. http://www.swtor.com/.... It gives fresh lvl 50s a chance to get gear. Stops the 'need gear to get gear' scenario.
  18. Sorry, did you forget about that blaster rifle in your hands? Honestly they should just get rid of the blaster rifle for ops and replace it with twin knifes or something because nobody uses it. Overload is pretty hard-hitting to me as a sniper and ops have a skill which boosts its damage. Try using it when they eventually get up of the ground. Don't think of yourself as a melee class without a gap closer. Think of yourself as a melee class with ranged attacks. Don't ignore your blaster rifle.
  19. Just my 2 cents. I play a Sniper, arguably one of the squishiest classes of the game. I have no trouble taking down a sorc; if they're an average player. Laze > Snipe > Ambush > Explosive Probe > Interrogation Probe > Takedown. That being said anybody with a little PvP sense and class knowledge just Force lifts/force speed followed by heal + bubble. Which leaves most my 'hard hitting' abilities on CD, and the sorc up to reasonable hp. All the sorc has to do it DoT and play the LoS game behind a pillar because I have to be stationary for 1.5 sec to do any decent damage. This on top of the continuous lightning + ability to 'hybrid' spec, it calls for a nerf imo.
