  1. The perfect player in perfect gear consist of:

     

    70% skill

    30% gear

    = 100%

     

     

    Same player in BM with no augments

    70% skill

    20% gear

    = 90%

     

    Gear only helps so much.

    There are certain team makeups, class vs class matchups, tactics, teamwork variables that far outweigh gear.

     

    However cumulatively speaking a whole team of 8 BM gear vs 8 WH+Augments represents a 8x compounded difference.

    ... so thats 90x8 vs 100x8

    ... 720 vs 800 .. effectively making the battle like a 7v8

    (assuming mirror match classes and equal player skill)

     

    There are plenty of mediocre players in full WarHero+Augments. Gear is a funtion of time spent grinding it as opposed to player skill. Although often players in full WH+Aug tend not to be terrible.

  2. Few suggestions for your build:

     

    Parasitism: Of no use what so ever 1 hard cast heal is far superior. Corrupted Flesh is far..FAAAAAR...greater.

     

    Backlash: My issue with it is a love hate relationship. Because I often bubble others especially when we do not have a Sorcerer healer the other team Resolve gets filled pretty fast. The love part is it makes me better last melee trains.

     

    Dark Mending: Great talent to have no question there, I opted thus far to go for 3/3 Seeping Darkness 3% Crit. when Rated starts I will take another look.

     

    Subversion: Of little use, its a really bad talent even for 31 Lightning!

    Again, I will reassess the build after 10 or so Rated matches. We have a 31 Madness and a 31 Lightning Sorcerer in the guild and will give feedback then.

     

     

    Totally agree with you on CORRUPTED FLESH.

     

    Backlash I LOVE.

    - if the enemy is attacking 2-3 separate targets.. they're crap and you'll win.

    - if my team is attacking 2-3 targets.. I will gkick

    - Backlash blind should blind everyone if only 1 person getting focused

    from feedback from enemy and highly skilled players.. backlash is their most hated ability

    - personally I am very happy to get killed by a full resolve player as opposed to a no-resolve player.

    - 3+ assist train will beat a target down resolve or not.

     

    Other pts..... are a matter of preference.

     

     

    31 Lightning semi ok.. cause they have 19+ in Lightning which is the main point.

    31 Madness is not ok.. cause they will be sidelined by every other class.

  3. Wait for the fan bois Larrysomething and other random 31madness to tell you how awesome 31 madness is and how they are so awesome.

     

    I play a Sorc, Marauder, Sin, Gunsliinger to a very high level. Its very noticable when fighting a 31spec, and my reaction is.. "lol 31spec... hit hit... dead sorc". Mara on a 31 corr is 6sec counterspell, with a 2nd assist... so easy to shutdonw.. .with no elec binding or backlash to worry bout. 31 Madness has 1 root thats it. Vs a PT pyro it does nothing.

     

    31 Corruption and 31 Madness die so easy and do meaningless damage.

     

    When against a 31 spec, they are easy kills, nothing more. The damage is ok but you hit them harder than they hit back. 31 specs have no defense options vs 2v1... at ranked8's .. expect to be hit by 4+ assist trains.

     

    31 heal and dmg is so mediocre at high levels its even feasible to run plays that involve letting the enemy sorc live so they run out of mana and be more less useless.

     

    19lightning minimum is the only build I would bring sorc to 8ranked

    Utility dps/heal/cc is why you bring sorcs to ranked.

     

    Other classes heal better and dps better. More importantly they live/survive longer and have less mana problems.

     

    RDPS:

    Pyro PT much more terrifying

    Any sniper more useful and hits harder with no mana probs

     

    MDPS:

    - Mara hits harder

     

    Op heals/ Merc Heal

    - sorc 31 dies too easy and is an obvious achilles heel in an 8.

    - Op Healers and Mercs have more defense and are hard to "kill first/sponge"

     

    Sorc has too many bad matchups against multiples so its a liability to bring 31specs.

    31 Corruption means no:

    - elec bindings

    - backlash

    - instant whirlwind

    pretty much free kill or sponge

     

    31 Madness: You gain Creeping terror

    - no elec binding

    - as above

    - mana problems

    - not going to opt to heal/bubble teammate due to mana probs

    - no real utility benefit teammates or objectives

    - dmg is mediocre at best compared to PyroPT

    free kill or sponge.

  4. People that jump excessively are generally physically.... very coordinated, dextrous, highAPM (actions per minute), great micro, can master camera control.

     

    Don't lose hand speed or mastery cause its easier to lose physical dexterity than it is to gain it. Although it may lead to RSI.

     

    The other side of the spectrum are keyboard turners and clickers.

    I'm not stupid enough to go 31madness or 31corr at least. Nor would I bring one to rated. Thank god you're on the other team :)

    OP or Merc for heals.

    200k+dmg, 200k+ heal should be the benchmark for each warzone

    Not to mention the CCs doesn't show up on scoreboard.

     

    From extensive experience at hitting sorcs with my various alt.. this spec is the most annoying to have on the other team.

     

    To play this spec you have to excel at healing and dps to make it work. Sorcs are not meant to be full dps or heals. However they're the only class to be able to bring both.

    the only useful setbonus is the 3 sec reductiono to bubble lockout on the 2piece mystic set

     

    Crushing Darkness healing is less useless than all the other 4set bonuses

     

     

    4piece mystic gives healing on consumption:

    consumption is terrible no one uses it since nerf 1.2

  8. Post is getting stupid.... let me sum it up

     

    Nobody cares what spec the sorc is, every target if in doubt will shoot the sorc cause they're the easy kill.

     

    Sorc is the #1 prey for all classes, including other sorcs.

     

    Without backlash the 2+ people hitting you will destroy you.

     

    No one is afraid of 31pt dps or heals, they will target you first because sorcs are #1 prey.

    There is not one class whom when faced against a 31Lightning or 31Corruption will tremble in fear that you are a corruption spec deep with Creeping Terror. Even other sorcs aren't really afraid.

     

    Even if you have guard, you will still get hit first... ie "Sponge tactics"... make your 2 healers heal you till they cripple themselves with mana probs. Or perhaps let the 31Madness cripple himself when he runs out of mana

     

    Attacking a team with a "backlash" sorc is extremely annoying. The DPS loss from backlash all over the place is majorly disruptive and annoying. Sorc dps is rarely noticed

     

    Staying on topic of this thread.... Backlash is amazing. Most competent teams will not bring a sorc at all in their 8man. Only a backlash sorc that is 50/50 attack/support will be welcome to fill 1 of 8 spots at the highest levels.

     

    The top rated teams will have rerolled to have players fielding the strongest possible class makeup. For eg.

     

    1. Op healer

    2. Op healer/ Merc Heal

    3. PT Pyro

    4. PT Pyro

    5. Sin Dark

    6. Mara

    7. Mara/Jugg

    8. Support Sorc/ PT/ Sniper

     

    If you want to have fun.. aka not rank#1, aka semi suck... bring whatever.

    The top teams will have a lineup similar to above

     

    You don't bring a sorc to 31/21Corr to 100% heal

    You don't bring a sorc to 31Mad/Lig DPS

     

     

     

    specific examples of other classes reactions to hitting a sorc:

    Rage Jug: "lol smash for 8k"

    Anhil Mara: "lol... anhil for 4.5k"

    Sniper: "lol.. set charge, lucky shots.. aimed... charged... dead... lol...didn't even need to use SoS or Execute"

    Pyro PT: "lol.. set charge, incend.. rail... pull, punch, rail.. .dead.. lol"

    Sorc: "lightning!!!!!"

    Carnage Mara "lol.... ravage root.. where you think you're running?"

    Sin "lol.. this noob sorc doesn't have backlash... shock, wither, shroud, spike, sprint etc.. lol"

    Op DPS : " stun opening... (phew thank god.. this noob sorc doesn't have Backlash) blade, stab, stab.. dead sorc"

  9. You're effing horrible if you are being a "free kill" to a mara as a 31 pt madness sorc.

    /sigh

     

    My Marauder and Sin are amazing and when I face a Sorc, that sorc is a free kill vs me regardless what spec. If I hit you and you dont have backlash, you are dead meat. if you don't die in 10secs you're an incredible drain on your healers and you are doing no dmg to my team either

     

    If you have Creeping Terror you won't have backlash... you are then a free kill. Creeping Terror is sooo not terrifying. Creeping terror is so terrible I dont even notice or care to identify that its on me or even attempt to waste a GCD to purge it.

     

    It doesn't matter how amazing your sorc is.When "I" am playing a marauder/sin... the sorc I'm hitting will get destroyed without backlash and electric bindings

     

    There's 2 scenarios:

     

    1- DPS sorc ie 31 madness

    I will make this call.

    I as a marauder or sin will beat the crap out of this 31madness noob so his 2 healing buddies need to heal him.

    - that 31 madness sorc isn't going to do much dps, and it'll take 2 healers to keep him up, allowing for my team to score a kill elsewhere.

     

    2. 31pt Corruption healer

    I will make this call:

    I as a marauder or sin will beat the crap out of this sorc, He won't be healing himself or his team and the other 2nd healer will be commited to keep this sorc up.

     

    Single root on one target isn't going to save you as a 31madness.

    Single root isn't going to save you against the Vanguard/Pyrotech, because I'll be bringing a PT/VG to sub that crappy 31madness sorc out.

     

    You don't bring sorcs to WZs for full heal or full dps.

     

    Why root something when you can 4 shot it. ie PT/VG.

    Sin/PT can you pull you or sprint to break root. While you're doing your awesome sauce kiting. You're not doing any dmg either. If you're kiting, you're attacking the victim of your CC hence breaking your own CC.... genius!

     

    31 Corruption is terrible

    31 Madness is terrible

    Why?

    Because you miss out on:

    1. Backlash

    2. Lightning Effusion

    3. Electric Bindings

  10. The tooltip for this ability says that it causes a flash of light that blinds all nearby enemies for 3 seconds when your bubble ends. Does this work in PvP and, if so, do it work if the bubble is killed prematurely due to damage, or just when the bubble times out. If the latter, this should be a killer talent for PvP....

    My opinion of backlash...

    Its amazing!

     

     

    From the POV of an 8 man group

    - I would not bring a 31heal sorc

    : Op .. merc.. healing is better they survive

    : 31 sorcs are too vulnerable. If they die they can't heal... they will die.. ie free kill

    - mana probs

     

    - I won't bring a 31 madness dps spec...

    : If i want DPS, Pyro/Mara/Sniper are better

    - without backlash/electric bindings you're a free kill for a marauder/sin/everything else

    - no burst and mana probs

    : the only reason to bring a sorc in 8's

    Bottom line is at this point in game if you bring too many sorcs... you'll generally lose WZs

     

    As a marauder/assassin attack another sorc... the sorc is a free kill unless they have backlash. Also... backlash is so annoying.

  11. And if you exploit /stuck pretty soon those who legitimately won't be able to use it because they'll disable it in warzones thanks to those who can't play fairly.

     

    I've never used this exploit

     

    But I'm sick to death of the other side doing it.

     

    Besides, stuck doesn't help when you get stuck half the time, ie the stun> spawn on floor bug.. which leads to getting booted.

  12. So I know people are automatically going to read this title and post something along the lines of, "Well it's dependent upon how YOU personally play the class. Every class is just as good as the rest when played correctly." That's a bunch of bull and you know it. No matter how I play my dps sage he's getting an *** whooping in 1v1 situations any way I play him, simple as that. I know that shadows depend heavily on adrenals. Some classes you have to have certain builds in order to be any good too. I was just wondering if there is any class that is just all around descent or better at pvp by nature no matter what type of build you make? If not what class is closest to this. Thanks in advance for posting if you choose to do so, which is greatly appreciated as always!

    You're not going to be the main healer nor main DPS.

    If you're gonna heal 100%, Op/Sco and Commando is better

    If you're gonna DPS 100%, Powertech are MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH better.

     

    The true strength of a Sage/Sorc is CC and support.

     

    As a 2/19/20

    The CC is the best in the game.

    You can heal 50-75% as good as a Full-Spec healer

    Infinite mana

    You can dps 70-90% as good as a Powertech/Marauder

    You increase survival for the entire team.

    This spec shines if you have 2 dedicated healers and you're playing off them.

     

    Much of the power of this spec will not appear on the stats.

    You need to excel at DPS and Healing to be able to pull off this spec's full potential.

     

    Warzone stats you'll pull off should be 200k/200k.

    2. PowerTech, Pyro

    3, Assassin, Dark

    4, Marauder, Anhi

    5. Marauder, Rage ... maybe Jugg-Rage

    6, Operative, Heal

    7. Operative, Heal

    8. (in no particular order), Hybrid Sorc(2/19/20), MM Sniper(22+/x/x), Another Powertech, maybe a Jugg-Rage

     

     

    I would not bring anything not listed above.

     

    Commando-dps:

    - Powertech is better as Pyro tree

    - Tracer spec is too easily shutdown

     

    Commando: heals

    - Operative is better

     

    Sorc 31 Heals

    - die too easy

    - Operative healing is better

     

    Sorc 31 Corruption

    - bring another Powertech is better

    - damage is ordinary and mana problems

    - die too easy

     

    Juggernaut, Tank

    - Assassin is better in all aspects

    - unless its huttball and you need a jugg ball carrier

     

    Juggernaut, Rage

    - bigger rage crits

    - no guard

    - arguably dies easier than a Marauder

     

    Operative DPS

    - Assassin is better

    - Powertech does more dmg

    - Dies too easy

    - Heal is much more OP compared to dps

     

    Assassin- Deception/Madness

    - no guard

    - Powertech damage is much better

    - no pull

    - no defense

    - MDPS is mediocre compared to PT/Mara dps

     

     

    Other notes:

    2 Guards is good to bring but lose dps, 1 Assasin is fine with rotating Proactive guarding

    3. Assist

     

     

    Most premades will fail at 1.

     

    As simple as it sounds

     

    1. Follow

    Simplest of actions. Not talking about attacking/healing/defending... just follow

     

    2. Respect

    Just comprehend instructions and execute them. Give and take criticism Listena and Speak out.

     

    3. Assist

    Hit the same target together

     

    The best ability in the game in the WHOLE game and every MMO is 1,2,3...

    Best sorc ability is irrelevant

     

     

    If you can find 8 people who can do 1,2,3 you'll be top 1% in the world already.

  15. I agree with the people saying 31 balance is not as good as hybrid dps. All 31 balance is good for is owning people in 1v1s. If you like 1v1 people in WZs, than 31 balance is for you. But the moment 2 or more people focus fire you, 31 balance will drop like a rock. That build relies on kiting to win, and you can't kite multiple good players at the same time.

     

    Aoe root, aoe mezz, 20s sprint however will help you stay alive.

     

    Remember, staying alive longer means more uptime which equals more dps.

     

    Shhhh... if they're not with you they're against you.

     

    When ranked comes around it'd be awesome if the other ranked 8 bring a 31 corruption sorc and a 31 madness sorc. I'm shivering in my boots at that matchup. Ooooooh the horror of being hit by affliction, crush darkness, force lightning and a deathfield. Followed by more lightning. I would rather get hit by a pyro PT, force smash/sweep or a ravage that face the dread and devastion of a madness sorc. Oh the terror.

  16. For the last time, I do not play full lightning. Read through my other posts in this thread or other sorcerer threads and you will know I have been preaching utility > pure DPS and pure HEALS for ages. Full Madness is NOT the best utility build.

    My primary objective in a WZ is to become annoying to such a degree that they are forced to focus fire me instead of my healers. Once they do that, the game is won (if it wasn't already). I also have much more tools to peel people off my healers unlike you.

    If I want dps, my tankassin does better. As sad as that sounds my tankassin isn't really a dps... A sorc is about par dmg wise with a tanksin

     

    If I really want to destroy healers, I'd go anhi/rage marauder.

     

    If I want outright DPS big... I'd bring a pyroPT

     

    Healing? ... OP then Commando then Sorc

     

    Sorc do not excel at either healing or dps when put across other classes

     

    They are best at bolstering team with flash bubbles, off healing, off dps, cc, etc etc.. UTILITY

    If you try to DPS.. thats not what a sorc does

    If you go 31pts corruption/madness you will outright be destroyed by sin/marauder more than

     

     

    Purely from a assassin and marauder I really love hitting sorcs that don't have binding or backlash. Sooooo easy to kill. Really, really hate backlash and bindings. So don't go 20 Lightning if you're not on my team... dont do it.. pick a 31pt corruption or 31pt madness please.

     

     

    Best use of a sorc is not as pure DPS or pur heals... but:

    - good dmg

    - control

    - heal options

     

    Base non-specc'ed healing is perfectly fine 0/20/21... I routinely outheal 31heal specs

     

    The majority of what a 0/20/21 doesn't appear on a scoreboard. It better that dmg not be dealt than having to heal it. Still there are those sad games where you top damage and outheal the 31spec healer on your team.

     

    As a sorc having 2 charge you and a sniper shoot you.. the only thing thats gonna save you is backlash.

  17. So what skill is needed to play this game all you do is move and hit buttons >.> a game of skill is a strategy game.

     

     

    Here are a few examples:

     

    8v8:

    8 focus fire 1 guy... its not 7v1

     

    2v2:

    CC one focus fire

     

    1v1

    any 1v1 scenario is poor strategy. Superior numbers/strength is one of the first strategies in battle

     

    melee vs melee+ranged, 1v1+1, Node Civil

    - fight pattern around the turret, maintain straight los against the other ranged

     

    hit the marked target

     

    guard/taunt

     

    pull their dps beyond your backline, causing enemy healer to commit forward exposing their healer

     

    dps one target , quick switch target to counterspell while maintaining dps

     

    spotting enemy spike combos and deploying countermeasures defensively using abilities, team, terrain

    spoting enemy defensive combos and playing to avoid / compensate for them

     

     

    Its all the little defensive stuff that make a bigger difference than stats.

     

    Examples of bad skill:

    - tunnel vision

    - wasted cc

    - sponging

    - poor target selection

    - not healing the tank guarding you

    - not using taunt because you dont have enough hotkeys

     

    If you possess bad skill, gear isn't going to magically make you better.

     

    Wasting 2 gcds in a 20sec span means you've squadered all sorts of gear benefits.

    A melee relying on snare to stay in 4m range is a crap melee. A godly melee that can stay in range without snare just did 2-4k more dmg.

     

    Obviously if everyone were godly or it were ranked 2200+ gear is important cause the skill levels is similar. Without random 4 + 4 premade limits in current WZs its very random as such you'll get a random statistically spread of gear and skill.

     

    There are many ordinary players in WH+Augmented gear rank 90+

    - the main reason is these players have specialised in the one character. Generally these players specialise and a roughly aware of the opposition strengths and weaknesses. When i can play my opponents class to a high level I can anticipate every possible contigency to react/act/counter.

     

    Skill is a very subjective and broad term.

     

    70skill , 30gear

     

    You gain more from skill than you do from gear. Unless you are playing against yourself and you're god.

    Learn to max you medals per game if you're gonna lose or its one sided.

     

    You're not really losing to gear on a 1v1 basis. Both sides have undergeared players but teamwork/tactics usually is more important.

     

    Don't forget that the people stomping you have lost thousands of games and made millions of mistakes. Its learning and growing as an individual through recognition of these flaws that make great players great... not gear.

     

    You learn most through defeat.

     

     

    You mentioned getting stomped in Huttball. If you can walk away and point out the great plays and poor plays then that is a win. For eg was it

    - individual brilliance

    - poor focus fire

    - mismatched team classes

    - loss of control of mid

    - poor defensive sets

    - 2 pass goal

    - 2 stage pull to fire steal ball to pass score?

    - unnecessary resolve filling ruling out pull on defensive sets

    - no passing options

    - poor support

    - unlucky pass

    - gifting ball to enemy

     

     

    Some set play:

    Killbox left, camp 5 sec, 3 kills to sprint goal stealth pass

    Ledge pull > Charge Goal

    Pitt > Bridge Mid under > sprint goal

    Bait to pit, reset to 1pass goal

    Run down the clock

    Delay score to control mid

    Via Acid

    Via Ramps

    Via Bags

     

    defensive sets:

    - Pit sack > root > pull to flame 1/2 > stun > sprint goal

    - Hunt stealth : left fence/ mid bridge / right fense

    - Shutdown Pass Options

    - Pull to flame

    - Pull to fumble

    - Knockback to intercept

     

    ID the threat:

    - Sorc pulls friendly, sprint capable

    - marauder/powertech/jugg for charge

    - stealthers: operative/assassin

    - Jugg CC immunity on charge

     

    Mode of Operation:

    - Run with the ball

    - Give pass option

    - Chase the carrier

    - Mark the pass option

    - Control mid

    - Hold/Wait

    - Form killbox at...

    - Clear at ...

     

    major problem with Huttball is that for any type of teamwork to occur you need to call the same place the same name. Most people dont even have a name for distinct locations.

Sorry to be so vicious but don't put best this and best that with the videos you have on your youtube. Steam rolling over someone due to gear differences don't make a skilled player

     

    Like where you do ppl come from?

    When I watch supposably good ppl play or play them, I almost barf from the shear lack of movement ability or nerdflexes(aka reflexes) or silly specs to gain another 5% dps but squishy as hell

    Judge all you want... clearly you are not even remotely close to my level to see my technique :)
