  1. Best method is probably to cap the node guarder and then watch Core 1 blame them for all their woes.

    sound familiar pinky? :D

I can totally solo Presh, Fugue, and Jeck, its fine shroud would totally work against all three of them, low slash and wind/gren.

Nah.. its nobodys fault they couldn't work out Presh, Fugue and Jeck weren't in mid... certainly not their fault they were getting wiped while Presh, Fugue and Jeck weren't at mid.

Juggs and Guardians totally useless at shutting down the offense consisting 2Maras/2Pts who have effective ranges of less than 4-10yds, tanksin is a superior tank in the frontline, sins do so much more dps.

    Lol

  2. Ahah thanks guys :) Would love to talk some strat with you some time Meds most likely after Thursday's game. We decided to not worry about Core 2 and Just beat Core 1 :D that way its up to you guys to eliminate them. Then we will not have to do it for a second time. Best of luck on Thursday, also I will be the guy pulling you into the fire pits :p

We should totally discuss how Core2 can beat Core1 :)

  3. Was fun to join in Pink :)

Till we got absolutely face-rolled by Core hahaha :p

    Looking foward to next time

70 RWZ comms for losing fast is not bad imo. Thats much better than losing in regularWZ with newb pugs for 10mins and only getting 70wz comms.

When 2.0 comes out, it makes sense to max RWZ to 4500 anyways to buy the Paragon gear.

  4. Hi everyone,

By now you're all probably bored of playing 4man premades and complaining about random pugs, unbalanced teams, poor class composition, too strong, too weak opponents.

Proposing regular balanced ranked games on a nightly basis.

    7:30pm start

Prerequisite is Full WarHero and just show up and ask for invite.

Hopefully we can field 2/4/6 teams on a nightly basis and simply play 8's.

Odd teams is no fun so hopefully we can coordinate both sides accordingly.

Monday to Wed : Fun scrimmages balanced.

4 Person limit per guild unless agreed upon prior or numbers

Thursday to Sunday: Bring your best scimmage

Feel free to PM me on my toons if your guild or you as an individual wants to play.

    Or post here.

Also <Treason> is recruiting. We're hoping to get 20 or so members competent at PVP who simply want to play and play we will. Play with us, against, amongst us... all are welcome. Hoping to field at 2 teams for frequent 8's amongst ourselves or vs whomever. Just be active.

Just show up play. Trying to keep number of teams at an even number. 4 preferably. Emphsis on Balanced teams.

    Please have Teamspeak ready.

Suggestions or expressions of interest most welcome!

  5. Interestingly, the LOS and focus peel strat is what Pink has always referred to as Killbox/peelbox strat that she's been preaching since before swtor existed probably. It has constantly been dismissed by most teams she's played with as something that's easy to theorycraft on paper but not viable in practice. Now everyone can see how effectively it works when employed by a team like Core with the coordination and teamwork needed to execute it.

Not preach lol... I lived/mastered it throughout high levels of play in QuakeTF > TFC > DAOC > WoW > AoC > WAR > DCUO > Rift > TF2 >SWTOR. These concepts are by no means new however to a random bunch of players playing their first team based game it might sound new.

If you dont define a play you can't reproduce or refine it. Execution of set plays are only possible if you have complete mastery of your toon and are playing the metagame with other players in the same skill level. The best team is the team that has suffered the most defeats. Midian/Core etc consist of battle hardened veterans who have lost in every conceivable way and as a result of those many defeats have evolved to be better.

To execute Killbox you need to understand that the arena is a bunch of overlapping circles. These circles consist of eDPS, eHPS, fDPS, fHPS... e = enemy, f = friendly

Killbox is an area with the following properties. Most importantly minimum eHPS, followed by eDPS, fHPS and lastly fDPS. Thats right total team damage done to the target is the last in consideration.

Peelbox is zone of entrapment for overextender, either induced or oppurtunistic. An designated area either predetermined or designated where players usually healers but applies to any player. Where "chasing players" are isolated /kiled or deterred from pursuit.

You would analyse each individual map. Plan primary/secondary/tertiary formations and have several plans and fallback plans depending on battle conditions and enemy formations.

Obviously this is hard to achieve as SWTOR doesn't offer us any opportunity to practice drills on maps. So most strategies in SWTOR are adhoc/underdeveloped. You can't pick maps or run 8. If you do run drills you expose your formation to enemy. So the only real way to drill plays down is if a guild has 16 players to match against themselves to familiarise positioning, zone control and formation.

Core's strength certainly lies in Jeck's presence/leadership. Their staggered/syncronised AoE mez, grens are massive eHPS, eDPS reduction. Chieftain, Jeck , First and Presh have amazing focus fire. Offensively they create spike-plays individually and they are somewhat fast at cashing in on spikeplays. In addition to when the spike play is initiated aoe CC on the backline prevents reinforcements further reducing eDPS and eHPS.

Their 2 Shadow/Guardian evolution of the 8 man is the way of the future. 2 Sin, 2 PT is somewhat old fashioned.and not ideal for 1.6 onwards. Certainly Presh/Fugue/Bobcow as a stealth trio cannot be matched by any three others either faction. Presh/Fugue are at the top of the foodchain in a duel context so on a solo d strategy. A 2v1 attempt on weak node is always a possiblity and 1v1 is a risk so help is always required. If its presh/fugue then you need to help with 2. If you send 2 main line collapses.

A lot of the above in reality is executed by instinct mostly, but in a 8man ranked team where everyone haven't played with one another in an 8 man team. Each and every player has a different interpretation of the concept and it all falls apart and becomes too hard to execute. As a result most games come down to 7v7 brute force type games.

The true reason though of Core1 and MidianOriginal's success is that the players more or less respect and like each other. With a very high level of individual skill, passion, drive and friendship.

  6. Well the title says it. I want an honest opinion about this build:

    http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#201GhbRZdcMMbZcMcRs0z.2

Am I spreading myself too thin?

Is it viable for both PvP and PvE?

Keep in mind that I fully embrace the support class role with my play style. This class is not a glasscannon nor is it a straight up healer. Furthermore, I think that with this build its not only possible to off-heal but be the primary healer in all Tier 1 HM FPs and a secondary healer in both Tier 1 HM OPS, while at the same time bringing a good chunck on damage to the table. Of course for such a truly hybrid build you will need to have top notch gear and a lot of experience.

P.S. Up until now I have been a full Lightning build, but I find myself doing a fair bit of healing in both PvP and PvE (thought obviously much more so in PvP). Frankly, I think it is much better to put in 150k well placed heals in a WZ than doing tunnelvision damage thats the job of Marauders and Snipers, since thats all they can do.

Terrible.. you don't get any useful Talents... you end up being terrible at everything.

Something like this is the best UTIL spec... i bring 300k dmg, 200k heals to most warzones... often topping both categories outhealing other 31 heal specs and doing more dmg than marauders etc in the same game.

    http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#201MZbsbRbMrZcMfRsMz.1

    - the above build is a UTIL build and is prob best spec for PVP for a UTIL role

    You need

Lightning Effusion to make it affordable to heal while doing dmg on proc.

    - this skill is 20 deep in lightning tree and is key to making healing affordable.... ie infinite mana

    PVP survival

    Backlash

    Electric Bindings

    Instand Whirlwing (madness tree)

Deep Madness has mana probs if you try to doing anything other than dps.. it only does slightly more dmg.. with no support options.

You don't need to spec into Corruption to heal.. mana is biggest problem when trying to UTIL style.

Heal Sorcs in PVP should never spec higher than INNERVATE for various reasons.

  7. Dont use WASD, you're just limiting yourself... majority use it because its simply default keys

DFGR is far superior, especially if you're just learning from nothing.

    1237890-=

    qwaszxcvbyuiophjklnm,.

All these keys become much closer.

WASD players play WASD because thats what they're used to and it'd take too much effort to change. You're gimping yourself if you ever want to go pro in the future. Your hand is stuck way off to the left and you're wasting the potential of your Pinky and Ring finger, also far right of keyboard is hard to reach.

Otherwise if you're just casual, WASD will be easier because you dont have to map keys etc to an extent.

  8. So I am almost full war hero (legacy gear from my assassin with stalker bonus) and I do fine most of the time. But the last few nights I have felt like marauder food. Once one of these sharks begin to circle I am dead meat.

It usually goes down like this.

*Dudes' all up in my face, so Im like "whoa dude" electrocute. I force speed away but know the leap is coming soon so I stop, turn try to put him in the spinarooney and he's like "You cant do that" leaped to and dang, interrupted. So I put my bubble up and h.o.t. myself then I do my front flip and say, "gimmie my space!!" Now I try to run but this dude is magic, I see him swinging his glow sticks about 20 feet behind me but they still hurt. Ok heal, interrupted, ok heal interrupted...then I'm like "ur O.P." then he's like "u mad bro?" choke*

The above is a good fight for me. Sometimes the fights end so fast that I can hardly react. I have used the knockback/root build with good success but I don't always have it equipped. Force slow helps to but when I feel like I am gaining some distance they can still hit me with melee attacks (lag im guessing). I was hoping that some more experienced healers could give me some advice/tactics.

You just need to do 2 things

    1. "backlash", get it

    2. ignore posts from subpar sorcs in reply to this... telling you not to.

  9. best dps sorc spec for PVP... aka UTIL sorc

    http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#201MZbsbRbMrZcMfRsMz.2

Proper way to play is to do 300k+ dmg and 200k+heals

    Anyone can heal

    Anyone can dps

... it takes a lot of skill to do both at same time and excel at it... which is why UTIL sorcs are rare.

Operative and Mercs heal better than 31corr sorc.

Marauder/PT-pyro do wayyyyyyyyyy more damage than a 31madness sorc.

A proper UTIL sorc is a must have on top ranked teams.

  10. Let me sum this up with 2 points.

Ask any player, any class, any spec.. the following simple 2 questions:

    1.

Do you know what Creeping Terror looks like when you're hit with it?

    PT = No,

Thermal Det > Incendiary > RailShot > Pull > Punch > Railshot > Flame.. dead sorc

Marauder = No... Creeping Terror means no backlash+no elec bindings... rupture, dot, dot, dot, choke, execute... didn't even need to ravage, stealth, undying, stun.

Sin = No, what noob tries to root a tanksin

Sniper = sab charge, charged, trickshot, aimed shot, sos, charged shot.. lol

Sorc = No... if i'm rooted I can still shoot lol. I kill sorcs cause they're the only thing I can beat

The only classes that can recognise the effects of Creeping Terror are Madness sorcs who cast it.

One thing for sure is when I see a 31mad sorc is .. you dont have backlash/electric bindings... you are toast.

    2.

What class do you target first?

FYI... Sorcs hit sorcs first, so does every other class. Not because they're threatening or anything.. but they can be shutdown most of the time easily. Especially 31specs.

  11. How does one do 10dmg?

If you guys simply let the heal sorc live and not touched him... he would've ran out of mana and only healed for 600k.

    also...

    1649524 heals / 921.52 = 1790secs played

    1790 / 60secs = 29.83 minutes

This game is extremely long and was probably mostly a South Node stalemate or a No-Cap west beatdown.

30min game is equivalent to 3 Voidstars

Both sides were terrible dmg/healing wise to allow for these figures.

30min game and you only killed the sorc 6 times.

30mins and you didn't notice sorc/op healer? Did you even mark them?

How did the winning team even win .. lol

  12. This is why.

    8 players a side.

    formation eg: a-b-c west-mid-east

3-4-1 .. is by far the best and only formation you should run.

    2-5-1 is also viable

gifting a free node is very silly

    with standard 4dps 2tank 2heal ... or 5dps, 1tank, 2 heal teams

You would balance 3 sides with appropriate personnel to achieve either. Kill everyone, delay, win duel, rotate.

    3-4-1 vs a-b-c

    at the start:

    - watch enemy and call formation of enemy a-b-c to define enemy formation and adjust accoringly

    Common formations commonly used are

    4-0-4

    4-4-0

    1-7-0

    1-6-1

    2-4-2

0 to a node is very silly, sacrificing a node gives a very big disadvantage when the game comes to a 1node each > mid slugfest.

    west node: (3-4-1) vs a-b-c

    1 to cap, 1 to intercept, 1 to secure/rotate

3v3 ... stalemate for at least 90secs.. better 3 to cap

3v2... West node capped in 1min

    3v1... 1 friendly intercept / rotate to mid 4+1 ... node won in 30secs

    3v0... 2 friendly add to mid 5secs

    easy cap in 15secs

3v4... West node lost in 90secs+

5 friendly attack 4 enemies in the other 2 lanes should result in winning Mid and East

    middle node

4v7 .... mid node stalemate or lost in 2mins

easy cap on at least one node with fast rotation from side to mid

4v6 ... mid stalemate or lost in 2min+

west node won in 30secs with 2 reinforcements arriving within 30secs

east node 50/50 1v1 duel... possible win duel to cap

4v5... stalemate or lost in 3min+

one node will be secured quickly.

East Node: (generally you'd send a strong duelling class, mara/sin)

    1v0 = free node

1v1 = duel.. winner takes node

    1v2 = delay for 1min... or 1v2 lol ... play for 1node each ... 30-0 win

    1v3 = delay for 30secs ... will prob win west/mid nodes

    1v4 = delay for 15secs... lol win&roflstomp west/mid

.... sometimes losing is winning. Sending 1 to east is a prime example where sacrifice results in a bigger gain on the other 2 nodes

Anyways... thats how you should strategise Civil War. Headcounting and planning for contingecies while controlling enemy reinforcements and respawns.

  13. I have had backlash. I have had the crap beat out of me by many enemies and the flash does nothing. Is it only effective if you are attacked personally? Is there a range? Just want to know the parameters of it.

Stand there let the bubble break.

    Don't dot or channel FL

Its short melee range abouts. Practically the same as a IA flashgren

... in fact you can cancel your bubble to proc the flashbang... great for voidstar delaying for cap... combo with Elec.Bindings

If a mara were to ravage on the bubble... the flashbang effect would interrupt the channel. If a mara was full resolve and got to full ravage you... its not because of Backlash. Would rather get killed by a mara with no resolve doing the gore+ravage or same guy with full resolve... whats the diff.

  14. This spec is heal and dmg, superior to yours with less mana probs. Much more dps.

Wrath, Force Lightning gains net 18 force

(Best of heals and madness spec)

    http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#201RGbRMdMzZbZcMcRsMz.2

    My personal favourite sorc spec:

    http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#201MZbsbRbMrZcMfRsMz.1

(infinite mana, great dmg and cc)

True strength of the sorc is UTILITY, and the ability to heal great with no spec talent points in Corruption.

Backlash is very important. Forget/ignore what sorcs say about it..... Listen to the melee classes that hit a Backlash bubble and they'll tell you its the only reason the sorc they were beating the crap out of got to live 20-30secs longer.

  15. Background: my guild is a pve guild I've been with them from day one, on my old dead server. I don't get to raid bc I'm not in the click of raiders. So I never get invited to raids so I just pvp my *** off every day (valor rank 86 full warhero with aug slots). So rated comes out and the raiders decide to try it out ( with there pve gear/recruit/battlemaster gear.) And they didn't ask me to join until someone got dc then someome asked me and I said sure ( so I got on vent) and over heard are gm asking the group if its ok if I joined. They replied idk is he geared enough? I'm the only one I'm my guild that has any war hero gear much less a full set with aug slots . It was kind of a slap in the face, oh, and then I had someone on vent with valor rank 59, explaning to me what to do in the wz................

    /gquit

    ... lol

You'll end up carrying their PVE carebear butts even if you were grouped with them. Not to mention you'll get stomped then blamed for it.

PVP and PVE have very different different fundamentals and skills. The GM more or less doesn't trust/respect/like/know you... so /gquit

Guild like that is going to fail at ranked anyways.

  16. along the same lines i just dinged in to 50 on my sorc with 2k coms ready to go ... wondering if i should go 2p of one set 2 p of another .

running a 0/13/28 spec - worked fine so far but expect that it will need to be tweaked in the 50.

    Thoughts?

    2/19/20

    http://www.torhead.com/skill-calc#201MZbsbRbMrZcMfRsMz.2

300k dmg & 250k healing... should be your benchmark per warzone

-you dont need heal spec to heal

all other specs are subpar / useless for PVP especially at ranked. Viable but other classes do better.

  17. I'm a hybrid spec, and I am having problems with refreshing Affliction on my target.

First off, when I'm playing with other sorcs, it becomes difficult for me to tell which Affliction happens to be mine among the 3 or more others that have been cast on the target. This makes it difficult to tell when my own Affliction is about to run out so that I can refresh the spell. Is this just unfortunately something that I'll just have to put up with, regarding this spec? I can't think of any solution other than to hope that I notice when I put mine up, and try to keep track of the skill based on how quickly it has "drained" in comparison to someone else's Affliction.

Secondly, assuming that I know when my Afflction is about to run out, and that it's about to end somewhere into my next spell cast (but not before), should I clip the Affliction and refresh rather than waiting for it to end on the target? I've read that clipping is NOT the way to go, but I can't tell whether having Affliction up for 100% of the time is more of a priority than clipping an Affliction (by only a few seconds, not by much).

So, how do I deal with keeping track of my Affliction when there are several up on the target?

And, should I prioritize Affliction being on the target 100% of the time, but at the cost of clipping it towards the end of its life?

Use Crushing Darkness's and DeathField's cooldown timer as a countdown timer to pace yourself... Both are on 15sec cd duration which is is the length of affliction. Factoring if you've spec'd for increase tick length of affliction and gcd to cast.

  18. Comments on your video...

You tank too much. Bring a guard. Tell your tank to active rotate guard and not static guard.

Why did you Consumption yourself to 50% and charge into a 4v2 mid?!?!? Consumption to Medkit > mid would've been smarter. Or even just seething.

3 techniques/concepts that might help you and your team

    1: Killbox

    2: LOS Heal Peel

    3: Enemy Assist bubble

    1. If the enemy is hitting you hard. You designate a place where you can hit them harder. This spot will be concentrated where your team's dmg potential is highest and the enemy's damage/healing potential is weakest. This is a foundation of "peeling"

eg .. Left side under stairs

    2. When the enemy offence tries to rush you down... if you overextend them beyond line of sight of their heals. You will draw the enemy healers to crappy positions. (You tend to be drawn/susceptible/victim to this) You get pulled out to their half in open while trying to keep friends up.

    3.

    a) Target the enemy

    b) Hit "assist" key aka (obtain target of target)

    c) Bubble Static Shield

    d) resume regular pattern

You can use this offensively and defensively. When you target a high dps enemy, you can apply a bubble premptively. Works for guard and regular offence too.

  19. Hi!

I would love for some experienced sorcerer to put out a vid with commenary on the thinking behind the action. preferably from the whole game, because it is of no use to see short clips. That is what really helps to get better . I dont play my BH more cause sorc is more fun but Andy pistones BH videos are in my opinion great examples where you could follow his thinking and he also didnt try to hide if i made misstakes like we all do. (plz dont get in discussion about his vids now they are from before1,2, it was just example on god teaching vids .

    have fun

Youtube has a crappy 10min limit
