  1. Appreciate the response. I did get it to work. Rather, I should say it worked itself out. I should have updated the thread a couple days ago. I played a different character through and upon completion, went back to the original character to attempt again and it went right into the expansion. Thanks again
  2. When you are talking about mmo communities, you will see a wide variety of player types. This is BioWares first foray into the world of MMO's. They are one of the best companies at single-player games and story weaving. With their inexperience in mmo's I believe they have gotten caught up in that never ending hunt for the elusive white rabbit that a lot of companies find themselves in. They seem to go from one extreme to the other with this game. First total focus on story, then on group content, then Cartel Market, and now back to story. Instead of chasing that white rabbit, they should just find a fine neutral balance and let that rabbit come to them. They have a faithful following for now, evident by the emotional responses seen in these forums. If they could strike that balanced middle ground of story and group content, they might find the player base would be more satisfied. They will never please everyone, for sure.. A lot of companies use focus groups to improve their bottom line and where they get those groups from is a mystery to me. I personally feel they should punch that focus group in the mouth. But that is just me. They probably should also re-evaluate their testing staff as well. A lot of these annoying bugs and broken mechanics should have been fixed prior to the headstart instead of relying on the headstart group to identify said bugs and broken mechanics. I have a sneaking suspicion that EA was behind pushing this expansion out before completely tested. Just my opinion. As far as this being what people want, I believe you will find a mix of opinions. There are players that are hardcore instant gratification types and don't want a challenge of are never happy with what is delivered. Many want an easy game and that can be to the detriment of any successful franchise. However, you find a following at the polar opposite of that spectrum as well. Ideally, they will try to find a fine balance at some point.
  3. No sir. I believe you missed the mark completely. That isn't what he said at all. If you do happen to take the time to read and understand his opinion from his standpoint, you will see it isn't your typical complaint thread. He has some very valid and pointed examples of what he disliked. It may not be shared by everyone, but if you are going to reply to his thread, at least give him the respect of reading his points.
  4. Sounds like the quest bugged on you. Try logging out and back in. Short of that, submit a ticket and be very detailed in your summary to CS. (I would also suggest keeping any emotion out of your tickets verbiage - you catch more bees with honey)
  5. They may be adding some back via those alert missions. If hey do it for companions from different classes, then it stands to reason they may possibly do so with the current classes companions. Just theorizing here, but maybe our influence with the four different specialist contacts has to be a certain level before we get "lucky" and make contact with our companions.
  6. Something to take into account, which many probably don't realize is that many companies use third party vendors for CS. Basically a subset of a major call center handling multiple customers. They have a specific script they go by. With a high turnover rate in environments like that, a seasoned CSR is a rather rare commodity. I am assuming CW uses a similar service. I don't know what powers they actually have and there may be some instances where they cannot advance a quest. It may be possible to grant you the companion outright, but again I am assuming. My advice would be to submit another ticket and hope a different CSR responds to it.
  7. I cant rightly say. It is difficult to rate something that has not only not been experienced yet but also not even developed and fleshed out. Time will tell. In the mean time, there are alts to play, Flashpoints and Operations to play. So there are things to do. As a published author, I know it takes time to write, edit, and get content out the door. Patience is a big part of it. So my take is it will come in time. I feel a lot of the vocal outburst crowd needs to settle down some and just accept that the instant gratification mindset isn't very conducive to a mature attitude. Not directing this at you, but just a general observation overall. There is an old saying, "Those who cant, criticize." Meaning, it is easy for someone who hasn't created, developed, or in some way worked in a particular field to criticize and be just downright ugly in a faceless public forum. I think it speaks to maturity and personal integrity which would include respect for others and self-respect. I personally wont pretend to know or understand why the development team redesigned or changed the way certain mechanics worked. It would be ludicrous to do so. I can assume, however with a great amount of certainty that it wasn't to alienate or in someway snub their noses at their player base; both paying and non-paying.
  8. So I played through a couple classes and wanted to share my thoughts, more with BioWare but I am sure others have similar thoughts from reading other threads. Story My opinion, BW has proven once again that their strength in the gaming industry is story-telling. The story in and of itself is just plain amazing. True Story: Even my wife, who is no gamer, sat beside me and enjoyed the story unfolding. That is a first for her. She even had me pause playing while she took bio-breaks and went for coffee. That speaks volumes in my opinion. The story was a bit short but was quality over quantity. My only wish is that it could have been playable by groups, but obviously it wasn't written with that in mind. Maybe future chapters? Darth Marr Companions The new story specific companions were engaging and some more likeable than others. Old Companions The issue with the broken terminal for calling your old companions after finishing last/latest chapter is something, in my opinion, that should have been addressed immediately. That is a major non-starter for a professional development team and while it is "on your radar", should not have to wait for the second or third patch. That impacts virtually every player who starts the new expansion. I don't know if this is indicative of everyone, but I seem to have two T-7's in my Jedi Knights companion tracker. Not only is this confusing as you don't know which one will be staying and which will be removed, so ramping up affection for that particular companion is somewhat of a barrier. Players wont want to invest in ramping up influence towards a companion that will go away permanently. Background Music I have to say the techno music was a nice change in one of the scenes with Koth. Interesting choice. Companion Gearing I must say, I am on the fence about this. I can respect the change in linking the companions power with their automated stats and level. However, I personally feel this removes some of the choice players had pre-4.0. It basically, again in my opinion, removes the expectation of the player needing to use their brain and self-determining the load-out of their companions gearing and stats. So now we end up having less to spend those ever increasing commendations/crystals on. I believe that customizing the load-out could have stayed and still be able to change the companions roles on-the-fly as the need arose. In the end it would have boiled down to player choice. With the change, it also affected the cyber-techs income from crafting mods for profit in varying degrees. Resource gathering changes A pretty good idea. A workable solution. Not very much to say on it yet since I haven't delved too much into that area of the expansion. Mastery Addition This change just made sense. I applaud the streamlining of the stats in this regard. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed the expansion so far. I am in no rush to push many of my alts through just yet until some of the mechanics are shook out a bit more. Just like any game, their is always work to do and things are always in flux. Rome wasn't built in a day.
  9. So I hit the "Play" button on the mission for Chapter-1 and it takes me to fleet. Then nothing. Am I not doing something right? What am I missing? I have all the rewards and the email in-game welcoming me to early access....
  10. Our guild was having a conversation about in-game voices in TeamSpeak just the other night. I always thought each race should have its own voice rather than the class. It would increase the cost of production due to each voice actor needing to voice over each conversation line but it seemed to me to be a better option than the way it currently is. You know what they say about opinions.
  11. Sent you a PM but just in case, if you could PM me the TS info, that would be great.
  12. I don't know if there are any more "new" sets out there. If you find one, or even buying used, I would look for some assurance that the Malgus statue is present and in good condition. That is truly the biggest benefit to the boxed set (aside from the Security Key it comes with). That statue may be worth something in a few years (heck McDonalds kid meal toys are). The rest is just virtual stuff and only good for the life of the game. Most of my electronic goodies sit in my bank taking up space.
  13. It is literally impossible to "accidentally" purchase cartel coins. Literally.
  14. I have been haphazardly following this thread and had time to think about all that is impacted by the changes. On the surface, it wouldn't seem like the changes affect much from a player gearing perspective. To me it is one of those changes that prevents you from "seeing the forest for the trees", so to speak. Reduction in decisions to make Basically the player wont have to think very much about gearing choices until about mid-game onward. This is where the benefits stop for the players. At that point it only helps the dev team in that there is less sweeping changes to consider when adding or altering game mechanics. Reduction in Comm sinks This kind of roles into the reduction in decisions to make as well. I like to gear out three of my companions. Tank, DPS, and healer for when I go at solo content. It then boils down to which one I commit comms toward during leveling of alts when comms are scarce. It seems like a minor thing, but when you think about it, it prevents the leveling player from having to make any crucial decisions, even if it is just a short-term decision. Reduction in credit sink Follows the same train of thought from the previous. Applies to the GTN and purchasing of gear or mods. again, On the surface it doesn't look like that big of a deal. However, with new and leveling players, it does remove some of the strain of critical decision making and where to put those meager credits.. Crafting This is where the brunt of the changes are hitting home in my mind. Not only are the changes going to possibly mean removal of some of the crafting recipes and choices (unless they alter those recipes differentiated only by the main stats) but it will also be removing a resource sink. Simply put, to some degree if there is an over abundance of mods or gear with a certain main stat on the market and they aren't needed, then they took valuable resources to make and removed those resources from play. Even if they were RE'd, they wouldn't give back but a fraction of the resources used. While they are at it, they may as well remove "Barrels" and "Hilts" and replace them "Primary Component". Each of the above areas don't seem like much individually, but overall the changes coming will impact a great deal and to me it is being down-played to ease community concern. It also does look like things are being dumbed down to a certain degree by removing certain sinks and the need for decision making. At end-game, the changes wont really impact much aside from the crafting aspects. I know it seems I am adamantly against the changes, and maybe to some degree I am. But I can also see the upsides.
  15. For my community, I have officers I delegate tasks to, but when something needs fixing or resolving then I am the one everyone goes to. We would be open to pooling resources periodically to fill Operations slots or even if your guild has someone who needs a quick run through a flashpoint. We are patient so if they enjoy the cut-scenes we don't mind sitting through them. Your folks are also welcomed to group with us for everyday leveling.
  16. Ranger Empire (Ranger Corps) is always looking for mature and friendly new members. Apply on our site at this link: RANGER CORPS You can private message me here on the forums for TeamSpeak info and you will be off and running.

  18. Having run my guild for the last 15 years, I can testify that no all personalities will click right away. Some are more extroverted than others. It is much like the new classmate or new colleague. they have to be felt out as to what level of participation can be expected. That is where the guilds leadership structure comes into play. Most new members don't like to be bum-rushed right away and need a "warming-up" period, a chance to feel things out for themselves. More often than not it is perceived as stand-offish or unsocial.. When that happens, many will leave the new member to skulk in the corner. I personally prefer to introduce the new members around. As a multi-gaming guild/community, it would be overwhelming for some new members to be left alone and unattended. We employ a mentorship approach which seems to work out well for those who are unsure of their new environment. It makes the transition a bit smoother. We have several TS3 channels and if we didn't drag the new members around to meet the other members in those channels, they likely wouldn't go into them and thus miss out on a whole other dimension within the guild. I fault the leaders in guilds who alienate new members and don't take the time to really welcome them. Guild leadership is not just a title but a responsibility within a social climate to ensure all his/her members in-game/in-channel needs are being met or at least addressed, as well as keeping the cliques to a minimum and the drama out. As human as some would believe playing favorites is, a guild leader does not have that luxury.
  19. Ranger Empire is a mature guild. We also have a Republic Guild for your Republic side characters. Contact Gelotri or Innall or apply on our site Ranger Corps
  20. You are just as welcomed. We have a solid "no Drama" policy, which most find appealing. Also being a multi-game guild, our members can enjoy games they enjoy without going it alone.
  21. You can have up to 22 characters on one server (I believe that still holds true) for subscribers. Pick a couple classes that interest you and zip right through them doing just class stories. The rest you can take the conventional route. I generally have a feel for how each character will behave (in general terms) and pursue that path for them. I rarely look at LS/DS conversation options. The thing is when you have a few characters you have to remember how you envisioned that particular characters personality when jumping from one to the other.
  22. Howdy. We are indeed. Appreciate the bump. If you lack enough folks to fill an Operation or need a couple bodies to complete a flashpoint, give us shout.
