  1. I have a similar RL friend group - here's what we do When you're all alone, play your class quests, heroics, & daily's only. When you're with friends, play the side quests. The level variance won't hinder the higher level members, and you still collect social points with your buddys. If someone needs help with their class quest at the same time - you are there to lend a hand. Multiple toon builds are good, too. Make one toon a "gatherer" (bio, salv, arch), so you have something else fun to do while helping out the lower level mates.
  2. I never liked Mario Bros - don't really want to play it in SWTOR (jumping all over pipes and boxes) But i want the datacrons so i suffer through with the help of website instructions on the other screen.
  3. ROFLMAO Seriously funny. But to the OP's point. Yes, Jedi and the lightsaber is supposed to be the end all/be all of the Star Wars universe. Even in the story-line, a handful of Jedi made the difference and turned the tide against the Mandaloreans. Taris was obliterated via orbital bombardment because the Empire wanted to kill ONE Jedi on the planet. Run and fear the Jedi knights. But in order for this to be any way close to accurate in game there couldn't be more than 2 Jedi per server to maintain game balance. Not everyone could be a Jedi and PVP would be all about taking out the 2 Jedi in the game in order to win.
  4. By itself, Taris will net 50,000 if you do all the quests & bonus quests. Also, make and sell stuff. I recommend Cyber...
  5. to the OP, very nice post. I had just discovered the extremely lucrative Cyber opportunities in the last week. Side note to an earlier post, I've been making some minor money selling Purples in the lower level ranges. Gotta figure that those who have hit 50 are beginning to twink their alts by now.
  6. I craft Ship Armor 4 and sell on the market for $12,000 each no money problems at all
  7. one way to make "grey" choices throughout the game AND get the lightside/darkside gear is to take "Diplomacy" as a craft/resource skill. The Diplomacy missions return faction points as well as either med supplies (auction them) or companion gifts. then you can choose only one set of missions depending whether you prefer the dark or light dolly clothing options.
  8. Underworld trading, diplomacy, treasure hunting, and investigation take quite a bit of time and credits to get them to the point of actually getting the materials you are seeking. The "bountiful" and "rich" missions have a greater chance of returning critical items, but it's still a gamble. I've dumped thousands of credits into these skills, you don't start getting the better missons types until you are close to the next tier.
  9. Um... of course there's sexism and racism... it's A FANTASY. There are slaves and dancers in every cantina, the empire hates all non-humans, many of the non-humans hate anyone not of their species, and... oh yeah... none of it is real. You can chose to be a nice person and defend the defendless or defeat the defeatless, or you can satisfy your baser instincts in a safe and "not-doing-this-to-real-people" environment. Those who argue that entertainment media desensitizes people to attrocities haven't got a good grasp on history... example: I don't think Hitler had cable or an Xbox. Humans don't need any media help, just an excuse.
  10. Agreed, I found that using the Power Convertor made a big difference starting lvl 27. Also USE all your missiles.
  11. just checking... does everyone who hates swtor understand how the uninstall function works? great... there's the door
  12. dude, they were in pre-launch. Asking for IRL $$$ for credit's delivered to your account
  13. Maybe it's because I'm older than most players and can appreciate how amazing something like this is. (Saw Star Wars in '77) Is the game "perfect"? No of course not, but the story is engaging, makes me smile with every darkside point. (no master, this isn't a "red" crystal it's... um... dark pink?) I appreciate the hard work and the voice acting and overall production. If you can do better, I'd love to see it...
  14. I would like to think the only one who doesn't have any world shattering issues with the game. I bought a cheap new pc 2 weeks before launch (less than a grand and it had been 2.4 years since my last purchase), and have had only a handful of ERR9000 and stuck events. I am enjoying the story from an all Republic story line perspective at the moment. Been averaging a couple of hours a night since pre-launch, have 4 toons 26JK, 22TR, 17SM, & a 7JC. I feel no rush to get to the end before they finish patching it. I'm enjoying the ride with my friends on voip, same bunch of geeks i've been gaming with for 24 years. Is anyone else having fun?
  15. It seems to me at this stage that long-term crafting for cash will involve Cyber, Guns, Bio, or Artifice As people acquire Orange gear at various levels they will want to fill and replace the items in those slots. The Bio Skills will be profitable simply by being slightly cheaper or better than the stim/med-pac vendors.
  16. IV, V, & VI if you can find unmolested copies (i have them on dvd) Then I, II, & III - there's drinking game for it, if you are 21, to make it more enjoyable
  17. No xmas, halloween, solstice, spring/summer festival or other non-canon "events" please. Lets keep Star Wars in a galaxy far, far, away
  18. Wing Commander was awesome. Your shields are a weapon in direct proportion to their usefullness as a shield.
  19. Space combat is amusing as it is... you're a turret on a bobsled. Might wish for more controll and real 3d combat but i agree with the devs that it was not intended to be EVE. Definitely upgrade all your ship gear at the Fleet, @lvl 20 all of the daily space quests take about half an hour to finish so it's a good way to collect some extra cash, XP, and some fleet commendations while your companions harvest
  20. but i don't want my fat twilek jedi guardian to lose weight
  21. And a Happy / Joyous / Merry Solchristmachannukwanzakuhmastice to you all!
  22. and besides... who wears battle gear to a dinner party anyhow?
  23. if you don't stop to read the story, appreciate the scenery, listen to the voice acting, and just power through the game... yes you can hit lvl 50 in a week. if you slow down, savor the experience, unplug once in a while to go to work, sleep, eat, bio, and have IRL relationships, the game will take more time and is quite enjoyable. if $60 for the game + $15 for the sub is stopping you... you probably have more pressing things to do with your time
  24. IV, V, & VI were made in an era that still respected a good story. Your special effects were limited by what you could do with Claymation, Puppeteering, and blowing stuff up in a studio (anyone else notice that they never fixed the destruction of the Executor - the explosion still mushrooms out at the edge of the screen because it hit the roof of the studio - in space it would just keep going). I, II, & III focused too much on the CG. All 3 movies felt more like an advertisement for ILM & Lucasart than a star wars film. Now with Lucas mucking about with re-editing, I'd almost prefer a remake of the originals. It would actually make the new ones better to just start over with IV - VI. You'd even have the continuity of having MacGregor as Ben.
