  1. That's what really bothered me. Pubs are already outnumbered by a huge margin and then you see some of their best players on the imp side helping spawn camp? I lasted 2 minutes in this event and don't plan on visiting any future world PVP events of this nature, having my toon stuck in a respawn cycle isn't my idea of a good time.
  2. I had this happen once about 4 or 5 months ago. We had just killed the enemy ball carrier and I received possession of the ball near the health pickup by our end zone and after about 3 seconds it suddenly it took the ball from me and gave our team a point.
  3. There used to be recruit gear now there's bolster. The times they are a changin'.
  4. I think you should level some alts. Plus it'll make you a better PVPer since you'll see things from other perspectives, learn classes weaknesses, etc.
  5. Good thing every class has a slow then. I love spamming the roll 3 times just to end up 18 meters away with 40% energy. And what about a jugg/guardian? I don't have one so I don't know the specifics, but can't they leap > force push > leap > friendly leap, one after the other?
  6. So you'd prefer all gear works across all game types? Is there a BiS or when you get into the game does everyone get bolstered to the exact same stats? If there's BiS, what if the BiS item comes from hardcore raiding? Most PVP players enjoy PVP because of how different every match can play out, whereas PVE is scripted and every fight should end the same. They don't want to be forced to play PVE just to have the best gear for PVP. They want to PVP. If everyone gets bolstered to the same stats, where's the progression? PVP players are fickle and get bored easily, you need to keep a carrot dangling in front of them to keep their attention. If they went with either of those models the forums would be shut down due to all the crying.
  7. No, that's working as intended since it's been in the game as long as people can remember and it's what they are used to. Knights are supposed to run the ball and leap, sages are supposed to run the ball and pull, pts/vgs are supposed to pull enemies away from the goal line and into fire traps, assassins are supposed to knockback enemies into firetraps/the pit, and scoundrels are supposed to hate huttball because they are the person constantly getting leapt to, killed in fire traps, or knocked into the pit and have no gap closer to get back into position. That's the way it has always been and that's the way it should always be.
  8. Roll costs 25 energy, right? And I regen 6 energy per second when in the top energy bracket... Roll - 75 energy 1 second later 81 energy .5 seconds later roll again as my roll is off gcd - 56 energy 100-56= 44. 44/6 = 7 seconds until my energy is back to max. Do you play Op/Scoundrel? It seems like you don't, you just know everything about them from playing against them. Every day since I hit 51 and got the roll I've noticed myself getting slowed more and more on PVP. It's not bad when a merc or sniper puts the slow on me, I can cleanse that, but when it's a sorc using his 12 second (or whatever, it's long) slow, I can't cleanse that and I can use my dodge to remove it, which is on a 60 cd. If I happened to use my dodge against a high impact bolt/rail shot or masterstrike/ravage then I'm SOL. Or are you actually suggesting that people are using their CC break just to remove a slow so they can ROFLroll away? Oh, you did suggest that, and even said that it's what a smart scoundrel would do. I guess saving my CC break for a white bar situation is one of the many reasons I'm so bad at this game.
  9. If your EWH gear is just as good as partisan and conq then why would you ever upgrade your gear?
  10. I was anal about it after 2.0 came out and people needed to learn to play their classes. You aren't gaining any experience just standing at the node.
  11. Saw a dps scoundrel earlier today sap an enemy and then instantly open up with shoot first, white barring the enemy. He called me dumb when I asked him why he would possibly start a fight by filling the opponent's resolve. I <3 Pugs
  12. Here are my stats going from Fleet > Warzone > Remove Relics > Remove Basic Gear > Remove everything except weapons. http://imgur.com/a/q8Dqe Just removing relics is the best in my opinion because I still have my set bonus.
  13. It's lower than before because we are doing the damage of a level 55 with the health of a level 50. When you have 27-30k health instead of 21k, TTK will increase as healers will have more time to get off heals. Like someone said above, healing right now is a lot of fluff numbers. I can get big heals off on my teammates, but they get killed so fast my heals aren't doing much other than extending their life 1 or 2 GCDs. It's really effective when i'm the only healer so those couple extra GCDs are enough for my teammates to kill the enemy.
  14. I have had no issues with energy for healing on my scoundrel. Played plenty of games so far, I feel very strong unless two coordinated DPS get on me, or a couple snipers. So far I like it.
  15. So you're saying that giving people equal gear means that everyone is going to become mediocre and that nobody will be better than anyone else? There will be no more stomping or challenging moments for you to learn your class? I expect it will help people learn their classes better. When I'm fighting someone I know my gear isn't affecting the outcome as much, so it helps me focus on my rotation, knowing how many GCDs it should take to kill someone, when I can blow my energy to go for the kill... With a gear imbalance you're either barely denting the other guy or you're the strong one and just melt the opponent without breaking a sweat. A person in PVE gear is still going to want to upgrade to PVP gear to be good at PVP. If BW had put in new recruit gear with stats slightly worse than Partisan, nobody would care. They'd say "Good, at least I won't have to quit as many WZs because of people with 14k health." Bolster is still just the first stepping stone on the grind that is PVP gear.
  16. What about a team with 3 gunslingers that work together, constantly throwing out roots? At least bubble flash gave you a tiny bit of resolve. They also have other roots, a 30m AOE stun, a knockback, and can roll away from you to create separation then Root'n'Shoot you some more. I apologize if I crossed the 31/31/31 spec line, my gunslinger is level 20 so I don't know each spec through and through. Either way, it's going to be a very strong class. I'm very interested in seeing how they balance PVP. I fully expect things to be out of whack for the first couple of weeks but I hope they make logical adjustments to classes, based on feedback and firsthand experience, rather than looking at the metrics and buffing already powerful classes because their numbers told them to.
  17. Scoundrel gets really fun around 31 when you unlock more of your stronger heals. It's still decent before that but you're severely limited in choices for your rotation. When there are 20 seconds to go before the match begins start putting Slow Release MedPack on your team. I start with myself and then move either up or down the raid frame in a pattern that I can easily follow. If you time your casts properly you can have SRMP on 6 teammates while maintaining 100% energy. This also gives you practice at the cadence necessary to cast SRMP on teammates during a battle without blowing through all your energy. NOTE: This isn't all that important of a tip until you spec into the ability that gives you a chance at generating UH from your HOT. I'd say your priorities for learning the class should start with positioning and rotation, and since the rotation is really basic right now and will be changing all the way to 50 positioning should be your #1 focus. A scoundrel utilizing terrian can be almost immortal. In Novare, get used to hanging out near the outside edge of the hut or near the cannons; in Civil War, stay upstairs at mid, near the bottom of the ramps, or near any of the 4 support pillars; Voidstar has less options, you just have the two main pillars or stay way in the back or near the health pickup; in Hypergates I stand behind the box in mid or near the pillars at the enterance to mid; and Hutball mainly stay up on the top level of ramps. Work on getting to these places and making yourself inconspicuous. Learn where you have to stand to cast Underworld Medicine on a teammate without him LOSing you. When attacked, use the terrain in your favor, and don't forget about defensive cooldowns when you unlock them. Another big thing to practice now is healing from cover. You're immune to the regular leap by Sentinels/Guardians while in cover, which also saves you from having your heal (or cap) interrupted. Also, cover isn't on the GCD so you can press the keybind quickly and instantly begin your heal or cap. And finally, play a lot so you get a feel for the energy management. For example, Underworld Medicine is a channeled ability that takes energy when you complete the channel. So if you cast UM, follow that up with your Free heal that consumes upper hand, and then cast UM again, enough time will have passed that you gained a large chunk of your energy back. You can either continue the UM > Free rotation, slowly burning your energy down, or slow down your casts a tiny bit so you regen a little more energy and remain in the high energy regen phase. If you do burn your energy down you always have Cool Head to regain a good portion of it.
  18. 55 seconds? You should look into improving that. I can click through my skill tree in 14 seconds. I have 7 pieces of gear to switch (though gear should only take longer than 2 seconds if you have to switch two implants or relics) and have my keybinds set up so everything drops into a slot exactly how I have it set up and I don't have to move anything. All in all it takes me less than 25 (I'd say closer to 18) seconds to respec, and I have it set up so I can continue to cast my basic heal (I'm a scoundrel) by clicking the raid frame and casting while I respec. I'd say my setup is pretty optimal, little to no gear change and no worrying about moving abilities, but I think 55 seconds is far too long to be spending not contributing anything to your team.
  19. I've spent the last week or so "crying" about premades in regular warzones, and I consider myself a good player. My toons are Tutombo (scoundrel healer) and Bazgor (Op healer) and I'd be glad to carry you through a WZ anytime on POT5, you just have to stroke my epeen after I prove myself to you. My "crying" about premades concerns the fact that facing groups of bad pugs over and over simply isn't fun. When I group up with friends we absolutely crush the opposing team. Yesterday I finished my weekly in 9 games and none of them were a challenge. I would just like to see BW implement a rating system and try to provide a more balanced PVP system than what we have now. Everyone seems so concerned about their queues taking longer. Would it really be that difficult to have it spend a minute or two trying to balance teams and after that point throw 8 random people together? It would obviously know the total number of people who are queueing and currently in a game, so if the number was small it would spend less time trying to make a balanced team, and if the number was 500 concurrent PVPers then it would be able to make all kinds of teams. And to those of you that say "Join ranked if you want good competition," ranked is almost nonexistent. We were talking about it on teamspeak last night, there are only a few Pub guilds that even run ranked. So if I want to queue for good competition during the late afternoon my only option is to sit in ranked queue for 3 hours until another team decides to play? I never see any real disucssion in these threads, they always devolve into people saying the OP is terrible and should make friends. I admit, I don't read most of them because it's the same dumb stuff every day, but can anyone provide some reasons why they wouldn't want a matchmaking system that would pit two balanced teams against each other if it could be done in the same amount of time that a current queue takes?
  20. It's a crazy amount of information because there have been a crazy number of questions asked about the topic. A couple of weeks ago Phillip_BW answered 15-20 questions from a thread with 40 pages concerning "flaws" in the new security system. He's helping the community who wants to know what is going on, but that's not his job. Phillip_BW was hired to do security work for the game. He's always been interested in security systems, how to break in, how to keep them safe, and went to school to learn how to keep information from spreading to the wrong people. He's knows a lot more about computer security than you or I, as evidenced by his recent forum posts, and since the things he is saying seem to be true so I trust him. Like he said in his post, he wouldn't excel at other aspects of the game, producing a product that isn't up to the standards you have for SWTOR. But if you let him work on the security he will exceed your standards and you won't even know it. On the other hand, maybe this whole securuity changeover is so Philip can have a better system to steal everyone's passwords and infect your computers with keyloggers. Hey, BW, you have someone looking over Phillip's shoulders at all times, right?
  21. There is an ability like that in the game already. I don't remember exactly how it works, or what it's called, but you get it on SM KP after you come out of the building and have to activate those 3 large turrets, fighting the animal handlers and big guys. You get the debuff when fighting the mob at the turret straight ahead of where you enter the area. Next time I run it I'll get the details, but ever since I noticed it I've been wishing for something like that for PVP.
  22. As many of you know, these days PVP matches are filled with teams of bubble stunners and smashers, which means I get to spend a lot of time thinking about other things during PVP while I can't control my character or I'm waiting to respawn. During one of these periods I had an idea that I'd like to get some feedback on. To begin, I think hard stuns definitely have their place in PVP but not every class needs one. With the coming changes to alacrity in regards to your GCD, I thought it would be cool if some classes had their 4 second hard stuns changed to an ability that places a large Negative Alacrity debuff on an enemy. The benefit? The enemy can still control their character but suddenly their GCD is 3/4/5 seconds so you have to choose what you want to cast wisely. It would obviously take some tweaking to find the sweet spot as to what the GCD should be but I think it would be a really good way to alleviate some of the frustration that comes from the never ending cycle of Spawn > CC'd > CC'd again > Dead with full resolve > Respawn while resolve all goes away > CC'd > CC'd > Dead. What do you all think?
  23. Well stabs probably won't be worth anything since there will be new gear (see biometric alloy) but we won't be able to farm whatever the new material of the month is.
  24. I'd recommend healer or tank. I play a scoundrel healer on the pub side and I love it. While pugging I can carry my team to victory just by having awareness. For example, the first thing I do when I zone in is check out the team's make up and try to come up with a basic game plan. If we have 2 other healers I'll either respec dps or just guard the off node as heals. I do this because we don't need 3 healers attacking and, while I know I could do a lot of good with the group, I am assured inc will be called if I'm guarding. Plus having a stealth guard is a really good thing. Another plus side to playing healer is you can look around a lot. When I first started all I did was stare at the raid frame but as I got better I learned to watch who was being attacked so I could start channeling a heal before they take a ton of damage. I also keep an eye on how many enemies are attacking so I can leave the node and be first to respond to a change in their tactics. In novare I keep my camera turned so I can see any enemies going to our off node from south. If I see only one person going I'll call inc for the person and either go myself or tell a specific teammate to go. A lot of people say the Republic is terrible at pvp (but if you go to the imp side you'll see people saying the same thing about imps) but they really aren't that bad. All you have to do is encourage communication and teamwork and you'll find yourself winning more than you lose. If you decide to roll a scoundrel and want tips or just to chat look me up, my name is Tutombo. Or when you reach level 50 (55 soon!) and want someone to pvp with I'm always down to roll one of those unstoppable premades. Best of luck!
