  1. How can they seriously introduce any kind of choice for queuing with the faction imbalance like it is? Most people hate Huttball by now because that's the one you always end up playing DUE to the imbalance. When they start letting the predominant faction on each server fight each other on every WZ then it'd only kill WZs entirely. The solution is to help the imbalance.
  2. Adding a debuff is just going to create more problems that need fixing. - We now need an AFK vote kick option because AFKing has shot up. - The AFK vote kick has started getting abused - remove it. - People are AFKing again. - It's just cyclic but all the time BW will be losing subs. Pretty much the sole reason people quit is because they're conditioned into scaveging wins to complete their Dailies. Just change what you have to do to complete your Daily - make it objective based but which isn't so black and white as Win (YAY!)/ Loss (Huh? Oh sorry, I've already quit!). Even if people stay it is currently rewarding them for NOT playing the objective and just farming medals. Does a deserted debuff fix that issue? No. Does it fix ANY issue in the long-run? No.
  3. So I join a game, my first of the day and I get thrown in with a team who are 5-0 in Huttball and are just getting farmed. 8 minutes left on the clock. I've not contributed to the loss but I have to waste 8 minutes being futily farmed or I get punished by a debuff? Unless you run with pre-mades (which I usually do now, saves much of the BS) you get thrown into a lot of losing situations. Punishing people adds problem after problem after problem ... it's arbitrary and pointless compared to just rewarding people for playing rather than punishing them for not staying.
  4. Alderaan - the two sides are ALL powerful. A team of 6 could easily defend those points against a full team of 8 all day long through determination.
  5. Calling people scumbags is not going to solve the issue.
  6. The problem is for Ops and Sc's is that most don't understand how to play their class. It's analygous (spelling) to Marauders. Mara's are a great class but difficult to play for most so most think they're a bad class. Comparatively, Ops and Scs are easy to play but most don't understand that their role is situational. They can easily top the score-board but not always and it depends how the match turns out. It the enemy team runs as a tightly packed unit and doesn't heal up those with health deficits then the stealth classes have to sit back and can't do much. If the team is loose and disorganised then it's easy for them to pick off stragglers, go for the squishies, healers are a prime target etc. 'Events, dear boy. Events!' - MacMillan.
  7. Some guy put a graph up. Looks like beyond 200 you get hit very hard due to diminished returns. Around 250 tops before it becomes worthless.
  8. DPS/ Healer Hybrid was always a bad idea. As a PT I spec Pyro DPS so I'm poor at Tanking, If I'd spec'd for a Tank I'd be an awful DPS. I know one guy who regularly ding'd 500DPS before switching to tank spec and he rarely breaks 210-220 damage in a match now. DPS/ Healer Hybrids should make you either a very good DPS and weak healer or vice versa. I don't mind a healer who is hard to KILL and can use Mezz's to get away, etc. But I don't like those who are hard to KILL and hard to SURVIVE because they can have similar DPS to you. Mugbloods > Pure Bloods It'll get nerfed eventually, though. Sorcs/ Sages may have a damage buff to compensate or more damage mitigation but Commandos/ Mercs will have to choose spec's more closely.
  9. I'm a PT and thought this would really smash my surge stat. Hadn't realised i'd been slowly dropping surge rating in my gear for a while so managed to land softly despite the nerf, being on around 70% for 180 surge. Threw another piece of gear on to increase it to around 230-240 and altogether I've lost maybe 3-4%? The experience is going to be felt most by the Ops and Sc's, though. Yum
  10. LOL @ Operatives You guys really can't catch a break. ME LIKE
  11. WoW is also creating a Panda playground because it's about to die. COD = Go mental rewarding players = most successful gaming franchise ever, may never be beaten. WoW = Pandas = Please help, we've run out of ideas. If you also look at WoW they've recently espoused appeasing Casuals to such a degree that they've gone overboard and made it laughable. People can get a L60 char in 5 minutes by signing up buddies? Right idea, poor execution for an MMO.
  12. I quit trying This game's dead in 2 months, anyways. See you all in GW2
  13. I've literally no knowledge of coding/ programming, etc. But I really can't imagine they'd be staggeringly different to what is already in place, they'd just need to 'shift' over what you get rewarded for. IMO, neither any suggestions like this nor a debuff will be implemented. A debuff loses too many casuals because instead of waiting they just go and play something else, and match-making will fill the game up anyways. If anything, the chances are the Daily will just be dropped to 'play 3 matches' or 'win 1' or something like that. Casuals' voice ALL powerful.
  14. They can't even fix the issue that means most Wins don't count. Adding a 1 min timer to allow you to get back in the game? Would love to see them try. What people don't realise is when they're booted from a game, or glitched out ... they don't consider that as themselves 'quitting'. The system BW would implement wouldn't see it that way. They simply won't put a deserter debuff in. The game's lost a lot of money from poor sales and a lot of people are disappointed and have left/ are waiting for subs to run out. Putting in a deserter debuff would just be further sabotaging their game. Fact of the matter is ... if they never put it in, you'll continue to play far longer than a casual player who gets penalised by it if it's implemented ---> they lose money. I haven't seen a single thread about 'I'll quit if they don't ...'. A deserter debuff would be iceing on the cake of a well-polished game. The fans AND BW realise this (the PvP side) is looking more like a Beta and they should have pulled back the launch. They've got a huge uphill struggle and losing subs by punitive measures is not going to solve anything. They introduce a deserter debuff and it doesn't work, say. So it needs patching. Patching needs money. Every mistake costs money which BW is losing hand over fist. Not going to happen. Like I said, when COD does, other games will start again. New age of gaming, friend. Throw everything at the Casuals.
  15. My apologies, I should have said 'HAD' instead of 'has' But my point remains. Debuffs aren't the 'done' thing with successful games now. Why do you think they're bringing in Pandas? It's pathetic. Free epic gear and people getting to L60 in a few minutes for inviting buddies? It's a cry out because they know they're dying over at WoW. As soon as COD puts in a deserted debuff, so will other games. FPS or MMO, doesn't matter. Punish casuals, your game dies. We live in an instant gratification ADHD generation. What happens when someone quits and they can't play again for even 15 minutes? They go and play something else. Unfortunate but true.
  16. Well 3 are about the same general issue but they aren't the same thing at all. They are; - Why a Debuff would essentially cause more problems - What are constructive solutions - Why a Debuff will never happen To do all 3 in one thread would be a monster read so I broke it up. Maybe I should just start QQing about classes being OP to bring a breathe of fresh air to the forums ...?
  17. Tell me about it Couldn't be bothered w/ the constructive approach after a while/ trying to facilitate constructive solutions. A deserter debuff is never going to happen - the gaming industry is catering more and more to casuals now. Casuals will get a debuff and go to play something else.
  18. All it would do is leave WZs empty considering you can just skip that Daily/ Weekly and get full Champ gear by going Ilum and farming munitions and never have to set foot in a WZ. Personally, I don't need insentive to continue a match. The mo' Valor the mo' better! But if I start getting debuffed for glitchy **** that isn't my fault then I'll have a BIG disincentive to stick around and pay.
  19. Debuff = more glitches. Debuff = I'm punished for game's glitches and given an unfair deserter debuff. Personally, I don't really care if people quit. If they quit on my team it's a frustration but none of the WZ's bar Huttball require tactics/team-work/co-ordination. VS - unless other team lapses concentration or has AFKers you aren't getting past the first doors. Alderaan, take the side turrets first else you lose. W/L means nothing except for Dailies because it's largely down to luck. I continue to play because I still enjoy the game (just about). Debuff me because the game glitches out and won't let me out of spawn = I'll see you guys in GW2
  20. This isn't WoW. StarWars is geek-lite and attracts a much heavier casual base. WoW is considered hardcore geek-esque. Personally, I don't mind the grinds and capping a character after weeks. WoW also built up a solid fan-base over years. COD's example shines above all else and rings throughout the gaming world - unfortunately.
  21. LOL. You've kind of agreed ... and then disagreed ... The whole point is people quit because they only get rewarded for the win - Dailies/ Weeklies. Stop THAT being the reward, and reward objective based game-play it'll give little to no reason for people to quit, anyways. Debuff = more problems, not less.
  22. I've posted a couple of threads on this suggesting why adding punitive measures to those who quit would be detrimental to the game and just create more problems, and another explaining what COULD be done that would pump new life into WZs and solve both AFK and Quitting problems. Unfortunately, the majority on the PvP forums want draconian measures and punishing people > overall health of the game, apparently. So I've decided to espouse a simpler approach; - A deserter debuff is NEVER going to happen. EVER. Why is this? Just a couple of observations, if I may; - This game WAS the easiest to gear up in. Now? LOL. Which group's QQing made this so? - There is only ONE class that requires the slightest skill to play - the Marauder (No I'm not one). Why would this be? Why can anyone do well with pretty much ANY class? - Capping a character takes a couple of weeks tops. That's strange, usually it takes MUCH longer even for a 'full-time' player, no? What kind of group could the Devs possibly be catering too? CASUAL PLAYERS! One acronym - COD. The most successful gaming franchise in history. Because it's super difficult to play and requires thems L337 skillz? No. Because even a handicapped guy who plays with his face called Chuck (YouTube) can do well. Nothing against the guy, he seems a top-lad and I'm glad he can enjoy gaming, but the reason COD is so successful is because it's EASY. COD is the bench-mark of success in the gaming world, it doesn't matter what genre you're in. Do players rage-quit from COD? That's the game that popularised the term. Do they have Deserter Debuffs? No. Why not? - Casuals want to have fun and have no interest in a steep learning curve/ punishments for quitting, etc. ----> they stop playing/ unsub (in an MMOs case) ----> the investors lose money. And the MOST important thing... - Investors don't care about your W/L ratio. Shout, rant, scream, QQ all you like over the forums. It won't change a thing. I've read some comments about people advocating 30-60 minute debuffs. Some saying that there should be a 2 HOUR debuff. To BW; $$$ > Your opinion. It's far more financially viable to lose you as a subscriber because people quit WZs, spend the money on marketing and drag in a bunch more casuals and keep them longer by catering to them by making the game even easier than it already is. Whilst the majority on the PvP forums may advocate a debuff, the majority of the game's players probably don't even realise there IS a forum for this game. So why talk about deserter debuffs? - Perhaps you may be interested in turning it into a philosophical exercise on the ethics of PvP/ Gaming? Any other reason to? - No. It's never going to happen. Thanks, bye! Have fun QQing!
  23. I wouldn't bother trying with these people. Punishing players > Game's overall well-being, in their eyes.
  24. Exactly! People really don't understand that this game is plummeting at the moment because it lacks depth in many, many departments. If they start punishing people then it's BW writing their own suicide note in terms of SWTOR.
