  1. How can it NOT be hyped? Have you read about it? Some recent news: http://www.arena.net/blog/mike-ferguson-on-guild-wars-2-world-vs-world THAT is how you approach PvP. Not little WZs and zones like Ilum. If that game is half as good as they say it is, it will be the best MMO on the market.
  2. I agree! I wish we could build strong, unified support for this type of LFG tool, let people use it for a while, and re-evaluate (instead of everyone tearing each other down). Group leveling content in this game is great. Let's help people not miss it!
  3. Actually, plenty of folks in this thread are against ANY LFG tool, which I find odd. A global channel would certainly be a step forward, although it's certainly the MINIMUM they could do to address the issue. And I'll say it again. Aion is the model here. Great tool, doesn't port anyone anywhere, isn't x-server, doesn't do "everything" for you, it's just really nice to have so you can continue to PLAY the game while you build groups for group content. It doesn't "destroy" anything.
  4. I've never advocated a x-server tool. I've only ever asked for an Aion style server-wide LFG tool.
  5. Well sure. You don't NEED a UI to manage your inventory either. They could make that happen all via console commands. Sure is nice to have a drag and drop though, right? It's freaking ridiculous to argue against a server-wide tool. The current system isn't working for a lot of players, so why advocate AGAINST a nice NON-X-SERVER tool? I don't get it.
  6. ABSOLUTELY 100% FALSE. A server-wide (not x-server) tool is absolutely needed. Don't use it if you don't want to.
  7. You start a group in the LFG tool with a message ("LF2M Fire Temple. Need heals"). That message can then be broadcast in the LFG channel with clickable links. Players can click on the message to see the current group composition/classes/levels. Players can click to request access to the group. The group leader can accept or deny the request. The group is removed from LFG when filled. And this is all server-wide. It's a fantastic system.
  8. There is NO valid reason NOT to have an Aion style, server wide LFG tool. None. Period. End of story. You can make a valid case against a cross-server LFG tool.
  9. I am up to 11-12 quests that I can't abandon now. Cute.
  10. There is NO reason not to do an Aion style, server (not x-server) LFG tool.
  11. The story in this game is fantastic. It makes the leveling experience a TON better than other MMOs.
  12. Guys, attempting to change the opinion of the "I can need anything whenever I want" crowd is obviously futile. Just do a quick double check before the FP starts, and if you're not happy with the group members definitions of "need", take your leave and avoid them in the future. The debate is pointless.
  13. What are you blathering on about? I said you weren't purely talking about companions, you rant about "lying", and then say you've told me you're rolling for companions (among other things)? Is what I said untrue in some way? Are you arguing that no one should roll need except for players or their companions? Was the rest of the drivel necessary? Never said that either companions or fully-upgradeable pieces were in other games. Cosmetic items? Yep. Mods/enhancements? Yep. Credits/currency? Yep. Vendoring? Yep. Reverse engineering? Yep. Alts? Yep. Any other subjective "I need this" reason? Yep. Pardon me, but it's MMO communities that established the NBG standards and what rolls are "correct", not me. You would know this, you've been playing since M5. Play how you want. People will react how they react.
  14. Oh please. You guys aren't arguing purely for companions, it's just the easiest reason to defend (albiet not right IMO). You are arguing valid need for cosmetic, mods, credits, etc, which exist in PLENTY of other MMOs. THAT notion of NBG is not new, so quit pretending that there is some "amazing new paradigm!" here. Even companions are just pets. Like I've said a dozen times: If YOU want to roll need on that JK chestpiece for your companion, or because you think it looks cool, or you want the mods for your other companion, etc, when there is another JK in the group that actually needs it as a primary upgrade, you go right ahead. It's your rep, and your karma. Seriously, play how you want.
  15. Just be wary, because you may choose to use it when that epic piece drops. I'll just group with others that play with a more traditional view of NBG if that's ok.
  16. Honestly, what is there to add at this point? Certain folks here have made it clear that they believe anyone should be able to come up with any reason at all to need on anything (because the game allows it!). I won't convince them that there is a different way to look at things (and has been a different way of looking at things for generations of MMOs), I'll just be a different type of player. /shrug
  17. I don't need to discredit you. You have made it clear what type of player you are, and people can choose to group with you or not. I am simply disagreeing with your perspective. P.S. The default option of the "Quote" option on these forums doesn't quote quotes within quotes. Quit crying about "context".
  18. Or my credits. Or my mods. Or my alts. Or any other reason I can think of. Right?
  19. So you state that I'm poking holes in my own attempts, and then confirm exactly what I said. Thanks.
  20. Under their rules of subjective need, rolling on class specific items for credits would be completely acceptable.
  21. And what Eldren and crew seem to be saying is, when that epic, Trooper only, BOP chestpiece drops at the final boss an hour and a half into a tough FP, the Jedi Knight should feel free to roll Need on it because they decided at that moment that they need a few thousand credits from vendoring it (because who are we to dictate to them with our archaic social constructs what their "Need" is, because all "Need" is totally subjective). Better luck next time Mr. Trooper! And definitely have no reservations about grouping with that JK again! Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Or just attack my reading comprehension. Or "school" me on something...
  22. Ha. Of course I'll come right out and say it. People like you are the reason the term "ninja" came into existence in MMOs. I AM casting aspersions on your view. I won't group with people like you, period. I play for fun, I enjoy grouping, I enjoy community, and I NEVER roll need on items I don't need. Enjoy your time in TOR!
