  1. And OFCOURSE Hallow!!!! Brute Force + Intelligence > Intelligence > Brute Force But can you not tell me that Brute Force is not easy? I find that it is. The intuitive/clever parts that come with intelligent gaming are so much harder to implement. Brute Force can be mastered while intelligent gaming has no ceiling.... it is always evolving.
  2. Mr Ugly, I've seen you stream on Twitch.tv You know how to semi-decently affect games via BRUTE FORCE. You showed me little to nothing that would fall under the category of intelligent gameplay. Move on. Your incessant trolling in not necessary here. kthx:rolleyes:
  3. Yes Styx, some of the points made were obvious. THAT BEING SAID, most things mentioned above are implemented by nobody during a game. Much less do I hear them being discussed by supposed good players/good teams. Knowing what should be done, and actually being able to do what should be done are two VERY different things. Read everything I wrote and go play a game... see if you have the awareness to be doing anything that I mentioned. (Besides maybe pulling a friendly across the bridge or interceding across the bridge in a VS which were obvious points. Derp)
  4. Open your minds, for I am about to introduce a pvp lifestyle unknown to most all of ye simple-minded individuals. (TOTAL DAMAGE ---- TOTAL PROTECTION----TOTAL HEALING ) -----> None of which are paramount. Anyone who judges potential/skill/ability of an individual by the stats he puts up on a daily basis, needs to severely change their mindset if they believe they are a high quality and intelligent gamer. I'd say, about 95% of the players on POT5 have this very simple mindset. (99% of the players on Shadowlands have this mindset.) This thread is in place, for a futile attempt more than likely, to increase the overall awareness of -ALL- PVP'ers on each and every server. Read further if you wish to learn how to win games. Let me highlight that statement, LEARN HOW TO WIN GAMES. There are TWO ways to win games. (Incredibly broad categories, bear with me I will break them down further.) 1) Brute/Physical Force > i.e. DMG, PROTECTION, HEALS,FOCUS TARGETING > You have to push buttons and coordinate with teammates, ultimately. 2) Intelligence >i.e. Awareness. > You have to use your brain. (WARNING---- If you're not smart, don't even try. Go back to pushing buttons and find someone who plays by the rules of #2 to lead you/teach you to win games.) Most PVP'ers have no game awareness at all. Few PVP'ers have low-quality awareness. Unique PVP'ers have great awareness. >Unique PVP'ers know how to win games. Thousands of years ago, BRUTE FORCE > INTELLIGENCE. These days, INTELLIGENCE > BRUTE FORCE. >EVOLVE mother lovers. This applies to pugging, as well as ranked. I find that it is sad that the 'top teams' on each server apply nothing more than BRUTE FORCE in order to be regarded as the the 'top teams' on each server. I disgress... Enough theory. Time to learn how to win games, I will just review one level today ----------- In-depth analysis of how to win games on VOIDSTAR ----------- Let two basic things be clear in the game of VS that are VERY important in understanding how to win. 1) Attackers get an insta-respawn after death. 2) Defenders respawn at the discretion of the 'respawn door'. >i.e. how many 'ticks' are on the door. OFFENSIVE PERSPECTIVE Most underrated, underused, and MOST POWERFUL strategy that could and should be carried out on each and every Voidstar from the perspective of the offensive team is ------ controlling the defender's door ------. > Most people think that they get lucky if they get a 'free door' as a defender. > Most people think they get lucky if they wipe the other team and the defenders are stuck behind a door with 2+ ticks on the door. HEADS UP--- If you learn nothing more than this, you'll be a better player for it. You can, essentially, control the defender's door as the offensive team. > There is nothing more USELESS than killing an enemy healer ( or any enemy for that matter ) and giving them a FREE door as soon as they spawn. > They respawn and get back into the battle within ~3-5 seconds. > There is nothing more USEFUL than killing an enemy healer ( or any enemy for that matter ) and giving them a FULL door. ( FULL door is considered to be a door with 3 or 4 ticks, or even a fresh 2 ticks. ) > They respawn and are LOCKED OUT OF THE GAME for ~15-20+ seconds. The trick is, you have to deploy INTELLIGENT gameplay along with your typical brute force. ---------------Always be aware of how many ticks are on the door, and control it accordingly so---------------- > This requires you to be in LOS with the defender's door, or have someone on your team that can effectively relay frequent updates on the door. Preferably someone that you are in Vent/TS/Mumble/Etc with, obviously. > This requires you to sometimes refrain from killing someone as quickly as possible. > If you're thinking, "Polymerize, you're a gosh darn retard for telling me I shouldn't kill someone if I have the opportunity to do so.", move along because you're bad and you do not understand logic. >Example of bad logic: Continuing to kill the sage healer that has 4k health left, ,while his respawn door has one tick left, so the sage gets a free respawn with full health/mana. ----- GOLDEN RULE OF VOIDSTAR ----- (offensive's perspective) You shall not kill an enemy player when their door has less than 2 ticks left. If it is not obvious enough yet at this point, the optimal point to kill a defender is when their door has just completely reset. Implement this tactic, it will not show up on the stat sheet but it will help you WIN GAMES. Bad players will be unaware of what you're doing and good players will likely be unaware of it as well. Great players are doing it already. You'll be surprised how much the defenders are complaining of how 'unlucky' they are to be sitting behind their door for 10+ seconds on a regular basis Talking is much easier than typing therefore much logic/awareness/strategy will be left out as this thread continues. Nonetheless, there is much more to learn. Try to be as visual as possible because without a video, this is much harder to explain effectively so continue to bear with me please Try to visualize and put yourself in these described situations, then apply the given logic. As an attacker, your team just armed the FIRST BOMB. What should you do? What preparations should be made? > This all depends on what class you are playing. > Some examples are of essential preparations are: > Marauders need to have predation ready to be popped as soon as the door pops. >Juggs need to be AOE slowing all opponents. >Assassins/Sorcs need save their Force Speed in order to get a quick speed boost as soon as the door pops. >Assassins/Operatives need to be out of combat (stealthed) in order to get ahead of everyone without the opposition being aware of this. (EVERYONE, regardless of class, should be deploying slows/immobilizers/CC to all opponents in order to stall the defenders from progressing up the map while your teammates are getting ahead in order to arm the next bridge/barrier/door.) TRANSITION MODE As soon as the bomb has been blown and the door is opened, you have entered what I like to call 'Transition Mode'. >Preparations should be made leading up to the bomb blowing, and people on your team should be deploying CC/slows/immo's after it is blown as well. The most important aspect of TRANSITION MODE envelops the SILVER RULE of Voidstar. ------SILVER RULE OF VOIDSTAR-------- Thou shall not kill a defender while in transition mode. Thou shall ONLY stall the defender through CC/slows/immo's. Let me elaborate on this point through an event that takes place each VS. Try to visualize the situation and then apply the given logic. Your team arms the first door. Your team transitions well to the bridge and gets it open while some defenders are left at the beginning of the map. You have an assassin on your team already across the bridge going to arm the second bomb and you notice OH **** ****, opponents have 2 ticks left on the respawn door. They respawn before your friendly assassin gets the chance to arm the bomb. At that point, your team's transition has resulted in a fail. How do you fix this? You stop being a DPS hero and start using your brain. > Do not kill any defender while in transition mode, just stall them. If you die as an attacker, WHO GIVES A FLYING ****, you get an automatic free door that is usually farther up on the map than where you die at. You get a free respawn and can get ahead of the pack, or you can continue to stall defenders who are still at the back of the map. > This situation applies great to a 1v1 that is taking place at the first stage of the map while everyone is progressing to the second bomb of the map.... an attacker should just let the defender kill him because he gets an insta-respawn further up the map and leaves the defender at the beginning of the map. ( versus the attacker that kills the defender and allows the defender to respawn farther ahead up the map with the chance to spawn and stop a cap.) > Lose some of your pride and DIE sometimes instead of killing someone. It puts you at an advantage sometimes even though it (once again) does not show up on the scoreboard in a 'good' way. There is much more to elaborate on as a whole from an offensive side's perspective but I will end with this intuitive tactic. PT's/Assasssin's do not use their 'Pull' ability effectively enough while attacking on VS. Example: The situation is that your team has armed the first bomb and your team has moved up to the bridge and the defending team is still alive on your side of the bridge that has NOT been opened. Why do I not see other PT's/Sin's on the offensive side doing this ----- jumping off of the map and using their pull ability in order to get an insta-kill. You get an insta-respawn as an attacker don't you? Thought so. Example: The situation is that your team has just opened the bridge and is trying to arm the second door. Why do I not see PT's/Sin's utilizing the GOLDEN RULE OF VOIDSTAR and pulling defenders off the side of the map as soon as the defender's respawn door resets? If you're having trouble killling a healer/enemy, pulling them off the side of the map does it rather effectively...... JUST SAYING. Sometimes an opponent is too far away to pull of the edge, at that point you have to potential to still kill them by doing a DOUBLE pull that can easily be coordinated with a fellow PT/SIN; this is much harder to do but it can still be done and it is super sexy > by doing this you can send an enemy out of the match for upwards of ~20+ seconds while you can get back in the battle within ~7 seconds. Effective use of 'Pull' + GOLDEN RULE OF VS = Impeccable tactic. DEFENDER'S PERSPECTIVE I'm getting tired so I will be summarizing rather intricate ideals. i) Most important logic behind being an effective defender is that wiping the attacking team does you little to no good at all. The attackers get an insta-respawn and are in the battle within ~5 seconds. As a defender you are not guaranteed that luxury. > The best thing you can do is ---STAY ALIVE----- and stop being a tunnel-vision DPS HERO. > Healers should not try to save ANYONE's life, even their own, if the door is about to reset.... seriously.... it allows attackers to implement the GOLDEN RULE OF VS easier. I can only hope that at least one person understands this statement., if you do then good job you understand everything up till this point ii) As a defender you should be aware of how many ticks you have on your respawn door so you should: 1) Pop all defensive CD's and try to stay alive if your door has just reset and you are getting burned down 2) Opposite to point #1, you should NOT pop any CD's if you know you can die and get basically an insta-respawn > insta-respawn is considered to be spawning with your 'respawn door' only have 1 tick left, or no tick at all. Example: Situation is that the attackers have just armed the first bomb and your defending team is still alive trying to stall the attacking team at the bridge. > why are you EVER trying to kill an attacker? they get an insta-respawn right above your head > i.e. killing someone as a defender literally does you NOTHING good at this point of the match. great job you just buffed your stats though wooooooo.....L2P, so just stay alive and stall them from extending the bridge. > why are teammates not setting themselves up in order to be either pulled by a friendly sorc that is alive on the attacking side of the bridge, or set up to allow a jugg to intercede across the defending side to the attacking side of the bridge? its freaking easy, do it. I'm not going to elaborate on why i'm asking this question, so you guys can think on it. Why as a stealther, are you up in middle of a fight when your team is getting wiped, when you should be stealthed out, STOPPING THE CAP while your teammates come out of spawn? Not enough stealthers are aware enough to know when their defending team is just getting massacred and should stealth out and stall the cap. .... *********** hate those people who insist on DPS'ing the attacking team to get that single kill when they are outnumbered and are obviously going to get wiped in a matter of seconds when they could just LOS and try to stay alive till they can be replaced by incoming teammates... learn to be aware of what the **** is going on, stop trying to win games by blindly DPS'ing people in the attempt to stack the stat sheet with DPS and KILLS. That is about it for defending. Seriously, for the obvious/basic ideals anyways.... Plus I'm tired. ^^ Thanks to anyone who read this massive, conglomerate of very messing points that are pretty out of order. Discussing awareness/tactics/strategy is much easier via speech instead of typing. Some thoughts are hard to relay unless done so through speech. I hope some of you who read this will stop living the life of DPS HEROES and learn to win games through high quality gameplay(... at least on VS for now...) I'll come out with more intuitive thoughts on awareness/strategy for VS and all other maps depending on the communities feedback to this thread. Thanks,
