  1. Traditions aren't a bad thing. Customs and a deeply meaningful way of life provide a well-travelled path to walk upon, one that is sure and rich in many ways. However, when you believe that you are nothing without said traditions and customs, you become very vulnerable to change. Being flexible and able to adapt to new circumstances is essential for surviving long-term. Which, I believe, is an issue the Jedi Order struggles with throughout its history. In many ways it is a hidebound institution, but you do see changes every now and again.
  2. Only thing I can figure is it's Jedi-drama. They really really don't like changes in tradition; kinda inflexible in a lot of ways that don't make sense. So while a practical Jedi (like my JK) is sitting there going "dude, I can put these pieces together pretty much anywhere it's quiet so I can concentrate" the Council is insisting that "if we can't do it at the Forge, we do it nowhere!" Ok, that may be an exaggeration, but the Council's lack of common sense is getting to me lately.
  3. This has been my favorite so far (although I'm really curious to see how the Doc/JK one goes). And you hit it dead on, he's not the wounded sort and nor is he perfect. I really enjoyed the progression of the relationship and how he starts out as that grumpy hardass (perfect phrasing, btw) and a deep respect builds. The relationship just feels so solid and based on really really good things. And the way he responds to teasing with those intense predatory grins is awesome. Shoot, I should just buy the I Heart Aric t-shirt, shouldn't I?
  4. /raises hand in agreement As to other non-Aric toons with ...interesting lines: Kira - Feel my Force! And another Aric one just because: There have to be better ways to waste our time, sir. Um...I can think of a few.
  5. It's a sad moment...ironically... Dailies would be lots of fun, but I worry that it would be asking too much of the content creators
  6. Have you heard what they're planning to add?
  7. I almost put mini-games in my post, but yes, this ^
  8. On the plus side with trooper companions - they may be the easiest group to gear in the entire game. Everyone but 4X wears exactly what you do - heavy aim-based gear, and even 4X uses aim-based droid gear. Hand-me-downs for everyone!
  9. I.....wait, this thread is supposed to be clean-ish....well crap....
  10. /signed signed signed type of ship interior/exterior color wall art frozen carbonite companions furniture upgrades (and all of it sittable) weapon racks ship droid voice on/off switch etc etc
  11. Well....uh....he does assertive really well, but he also takes orders without any problems....dang it, I hate that his questline is done. I need more content, or to roll another trooper.
  12. That's not odd, that's a gift given in return!!
  13. You want numbers? I'm sorry, I don't crunch numbers much. If I'm mistaken in my assumption that heavy armor reduces the amount of damage you take then by all means enlighten me. Not that it'll change my decision to play a merc, but hey, I'm open to learning.
  14. If there's going to be a cap, I agree, it should lock you in once you hit it. Having it able to go down once you hit that but not up doesn't really make sense, and saying you should only choose options that keep affection levels at 10k is a really silly way to play when pre-cap you can get +15, +15, -1 and end up with +29. Once you hit that cap, +15, +15, -1 can only give you either zero or negative amounts of affection. It isn't logical.
  15. I think the thing that strikes me most about the comparisons is that the classes are significantly different. They play differently. Ranged dps they all may be, but that's pretty much where the similarities end. I chose merc because I like that I have survivability (with heavy armor, heals, etc) that is tank-like, the ability to heal other people in a pinch, and dude, I get missles. I mean, that in itself....
  16. Thank you for the background for Tatooine and Hoth! For most of the planets, I think you could use the axial tilt (or lack there of) to justify the lack of seasons, but if I remember correctly there are a couple things that npc's say on Alderaan that indicate that they actually do have seasons, and wint...I mean, spring is coming
  17. The npcs are just there to taunt you with their pretty purple lightsabers. They stick their tongues out when your back is turned.
  18. Games need rarity for some items. With MMOs you need things you can point to that took you time and effort (and maybe a bit of luck) to get. Call it epeen or pride or achievement, or what have you, but rare colors are one way of providing that ego boost that will have some players working their butts off for days or weeks or however long to get said item.
  19. It's a cool idea and should be relatively easy to implement. I have no idea if it would be possible, but "sports bar" type cantinas in some areas with a big screen that showed real footage of a live huttball game would be pretty awesome, especially if you were able to build teams and have them ranked against each other.
  20. I'm betting....and this is just a guess mind you....that there will be a LOT of toons being followed by female companions in slave costumes. Just a guess...
  21. From today's podcast: "Damion: And then we have two key itemization features that are coming to you guys that I think will be really good for the end game players in particular. The first is augment tables and what this is going to allow you to do is to allow you to add an augment slot which is the slot that crafters get for free whenever they get a critical hit crafting item. It will allow you to use item modification table anywhere in the game to add an augment slot to any piece of wearable gear armor and get that augment slot so that will pretty much allow all of our gear at the end game to be equivalent to each other, which will solve a lot of the itemization problems that we have had in the past. The other thing that personally I am excited about is adaptive gear. Adaptive gear is the ability for some gear, in particular social gear, to morph its armor rating based on the skill of the wearer the short form is that, yes, you can now tank in a bikini. I know that is important to some people. It also means that things like the - was it the pilot outfit - the sand trooper, the sand person outfit all of those things in particular on the social vendors as well as the armor on the collector's edition vendors and the security vendors all that stuff will be able to be worn at end game, especially when you combine it with the augment table technology." http://www.swtor.com/blog/star-wars-old-republic-official-podcast-episode-i What gear are you planning to get for your toon now that these will be available? Are you going to match lore or your personal storyline or just find the most sparkly thing out there?
