  1. what I find odd is that your a wow raid tank? really? this is the most wow instance i've ever faced. in most of the instances, the trash are boring and dps can kill whoeever the hell they want with no CC and would be fine. this is the first instance i've seen that requires the use of CC. in WoW almost every raid trash required players to CC almost everything and kill each mob 1 by 1. but heres the break down, each mob has their abilities and needs to be dealt with. heres what each of the special mobs are and their mechanics Infected Mercenary - these guys must be CCed to make things much easier. they grapple a random player and stun and damage that player. you can break the stun with your cooldown but the damage will continue until hes interrupted or stunned or killed. Infected hunters - these guys like to jump around and drop their agro, they need to be taunted back every time so either CC them until they can be dealt with, or kill them soon. Bloated plaugebringers - these guys will glow green and then blow up doing massive damage to anyone near them. they will be stunned and start glowing green around 10% and then blow up, when you see this happening, get the hell away from them, your given enough time to run away. healers should not be anywhere near them since they are melee fighters, same with any ranged dps infected screamer - these will scream in your face and knock you back. the damage they do isnt all that big of a concern but either focus fire them down or cc them when your near another group to avoid pulling extras. and thats about all there is to it. its a fairly simple instance for a wow player since you should be used to CCing almost every minion. also know who can CC and in what situation they can CC. for this case, if you have assassins or opertives, have them use their sap before the pull, while sorcerer or mercenaries can CC once the pull start. and for the love of god dont ever use aoe unless you pull the rest of the group away from the CCed targets.
  2. this makes no sense what so ever. damage type doesnt tie to attack type in order to tell what type of damage it is, read the tool tip, it says right in the attack what kind of damage it is. to find out the type of attack, look at the ability window and the right side will tell the attack type
  3. theres nothing there to indicate that only 1 target can be effected by combustion gas cylinder at a time, only that you can only have 1 cylinder active at a time. you might have been confused about that part and yes, its each hit so its similar to how crits work where each target will do its own roll to see if the debuff is applied or not
  4. honestly it doesnt make much of a difference, if you notice, all the pieces of gear all are pretty much the same, some what. the way they've created each piece is through mods, and all the mods of the same thing all have the same stat no matter what part of the gear it is. the only thing that would be the factor is the armoring/barrel part of it which cant be removed. and theres only 2 differences either its higher in aim, or higher in endurance. in other words its either a reflex or commando versions. and each piece in each set will be either one or the other. so if you want more aim, just look for the pieces with more aim in it. and dont worry about the other modifications since you can swap them out anyways, im planning on collecting columni gloves since I can rip the crit/surge mod out of them to add to my other pieces of gear
  5. im sorry but really? you care what others think of yourself? your just asking to be hurt by doing so. bottom line is you play the way you want, cuz they cant control how you play, they can ***** and moan and complain but as long as you get the highest amount of kills, stop the ball carrier from capping, getting the ball to the other side, protecting your allies, playing the objective, then your doing the right thing, even if it means spamming tracer missiles. are you doing the best thing? probably not, but does it matter? no, as long as the job gets done, thats all that matters. if you want to be successful in anything, dont think about what others think of you, think about what you do to be successful
  6. what in the world is ED? o.O electro dart? that shouldnt be in your rotation >.> you really dont need that unless you want to heal or the enemy just hits too hard. and your rotation is totally out of wacked, donno how you came up with that one. heres how it works, its priority system where you just cast things in certain order depending on what buffs and debuffs your target has so your priorities are as follows Railshot if you have 5 stacks of tracer lock and your enemy has 5 stacks of heat signatures Unload if you have 5 stacks of heat signatures (thermal sensor override with this ability if your heat is at 24 or higher) Heat seeker missiles if you have 5 stacks of heat signatures (basically this is just saying always unload before you use heat seekers) otherwise you cast tracer missiles you can open up with death from above but with it's cooldown I would save it for only on fights where the enemies are spread apart but close enough for it to hit. otherwise dont bother with it and save it for when you can use it usefully
  7. when I first read the "hybrid pyro arsenal" I was thinking "omg another noob" but after seeing your choices and your talent build, your the first one that actually made smart choices. kudos to you. but even though they are smart, they are still lack luster. the play style I see here is basically focused around unload and free rail shots and power shot whenever unload is on cooldown. though this is viable its still very turret style meaning no mobility. you still gotta stand there and cast the unload and power shots. so it wouldnt be any different than a tracer missile arsenal build which would have done more damage. but its a very good try compared to many others i've seen.
  8. theres been tests to find out and in most mmos your range does take into effect of how threat works for ranged attacks it takes 130% of the current target's threat to pull agro while it only takes 110% for a melee attack to pull agro. sorry I dont have the link to it anymore, but im sure you can find it if you google swtor game mechanics
  9. I would assume pyro would be strongest with Power tech mostly because power tech gains additional elemental damage in the form of flame sweep and flame burst which is improved by the talents in pryo. though this means you'll be in melee range more than a merc spec which is mostly ranged also the shield and advance prototype trees do improve your rail shot and fire abilities (assuming that the combustion gas cylinder proc is considered fire attack) which mean it boost your damage but as an merc pyrotech you got the ranged advantage and thats about it
  10. yup your crits are too low, your not getting that 8 vent per 3 seconds, and are you casting heat seeker missiles before unload? that could be the other problem. also are you only using Tracer Missiles, Rail shot, Unload, and Heat seeker missiles? anything else is gonna cause you to overheat
  11. the only problem with pyro is that it just doesnt provide much at all, the priority list is quite difficult compared to arsenal, and its made for mobility. plus a lot of the tree focuses a lot on pvp more than pve so alot of the talent points get wasted in that perspective but im not saying its not valid, its just not recommended. it can still work just you got a steeper mountain to climb is all
  12. yea.... we do have an ability called jet boost as a merc dps, if your powertech then the person above already said it, your gear is combat tech, not eliminator. please know what your talking about before posting and do your research first
  13. yea this boss is a pain in the butt, you gotta just get rid of the debuffs by LoSing him and trying to avoid him hurting you since the debuffs will reduce healing done to you and damage you deal by like 100% so its impossible to do anything while your debuffed. I feel like this boss is broken or it should be listed as a Heroic 2+ since its almost impossible to kill him without trying to LoS him
  14. bottom line, your first half is bad enough since you overheated, why would I want to continue watching?
  15. your guide says 1v1 for pve/pvp, plus even in pvp you dont wanna over heat that easily, making it still a bad choice and no a rotation would be something you do blindly with no reason. this is a priority list that you cast during certain situations
  16. also you should mention that your pyrotech is for mercneary pyrotech since powertechs pyrotech dont get some of those abilities
  17. your arsenal 1v1 rotation was pretty bad, I mean before your rotation is over you were already overheated........ in pve against a boss fight, you'd be out of commission after 3 rotation also arsenal has no set rotation its all priority and your HSM and unload were in the wrong order the priority is Rail shot if 5 tracer locks and heat signatures are up Unload if 5 heat signature is up (even if barrage isnt up yet which is rare since its still a heat sink) Heat seeking missiles if 5 heat signature is up then tracer missiles if non of the conditions are met you can also throw in Death from above + thermal sensor override if your heat is 39 or more and if there are no CC in the area, otherwise use thermal sensor override on unload when heat is above 24 with this priority you'll never overheat and when you do your vent heat ability will be off cooldown
  18. for a bounty hunter, your companion will probably be either a healer or a dps, if you are a healer, your gonna want a dps since you'll be able to keep them up and they'll do the work for you. tanks just dont kill fast enough and most of the time you dont need to heal them as often. your dps should be able to handle their tanking roles as well. if your dps then you'll want mako for majority of the fights since you can tank fairly well in pve since your wearing heavy armor so you have quite the reduced damage and you can kill fairly quickly as well. though if your fighting a large group of weak units, having torian out can help quicken the kills since you probably will kill them faster than they can damage you. tanks arent very needed in either situations unless your fighting someone that hits really hard and has a lot of life and it'll end up a stamina fight and your a healer. otherwise stick to either torian or mako gault is just a bit too squishy unless your powertech tank but we're not in that section
  19. when you stop wanting whatever else that is further down the tree. simple as that chances are you never do cuz most of the 31 point talent are a mandatory ability. but if they are not for you then whenever you feel you dont need anymore talents in that tree
  20. i've asked this once before but people were getting off topic and I never really got the answer I was looking for This is about if the armor debuff from multiple sources are applied to the enemy. of course the icon is applied but thats not the stacking im asking about. and I know for a fact that the same debuff do not stack with each other but instead it takes the highest stack. but Im wondering if all 3 armor debuff (sundering assault, tracer missile, and shatter shot) does apply armor debuff, thus giving a 60% armor reduction, or does the enemy just take the highest armor debuff and be capped at 20% reduction. a 60% reduction seems a bit off to me since your literally taking away more than half of the boss's armor also please provide some sort of evidence or sources to back up your claims, or at least explain how you figured out your claim to be true. non of that just saying just because you say so
  21. I find that as long as you keep up the 30-35% crit which isnt hard until you get to lvl 50 but even then its fairly simple then you shouldnt have much heat problems, its just once you get geared up at 50 it becomes stupidly easy (if you follow the correct priority queue)
  22. I donno if your trolling or havnt noticed but degauss does exactly that. or at least it seems to had a ball carrier who was pyro spec put his shield up and I couldnt knock him off or stun him at all and he had no resolve on him. so the only explaination was that he had degauss on him
  23. if your asking about end game, as in The tier set gear and raid/HM gear then that you gotta worry about first is getting all that stuff together, you'll notice a lot of that gear has no crit on it except for 1 peice. but it'll have tons and I mean TONS of accuracy you only want enough accuracy to bring up your accuracy to 110%, that'll will override the enemy boss's defense stats so that you wont be dodged or parried, or resisted. then you want to bring your crit percentage up to roughly 30-35% with the aim on the columni gear you wont have much problem with that. but getting crit rating will be difficult. what you can do is get some of the combat medic gear like the bracers, ears, implants which has crit on it (talking about rakata ears and implants from daily commendations which you should get) or you can also purchase the leggings from any of the sets since they'll have an enhancement of crit/accuracy that you can rip off and put on to your other Q51 gear or you can run kaon HM and try to farm up some xenotech medic gloves which has Q51 crit/surge but this is probably a lot more difficult to do. if you have a group thats willing to you could just go in do this event, when your done reset the instance and keep doing it over and over again until you got what you need. the instance doesnt lock up until you beat the final boss once your onto columni gear (Q56) then you'll want to start farming the Columni gloves from the medics, they have the crit/surge enhancements that you can rip off to put onto yours hope this helps out
  24. you might as well keep that rakata peice still cuz you'll probably get to the point where your crit does go over it again, and you'll want to go back to it later. good to have options
  25. your half right there the diminishing returns only apply to rating values, the amount the rating gives you has diminishing returns, not the crit chance itself. so really people's idea of how after 30% you'll have diminishing returns is only half true so the better way to think of it is that anything that gives crit chance is applied AFTER the crit chance has been calculated by the rating and aim. so your talents, the crit buff from imperial agent, and your set bonuses will not be effected by the diminishing returns. as for weither or not you should get the tionese gear or not, for the set bonus i think its worth it, but you will lose the crit which will be crucial. my suggestion is to get the rakata implants and ear from the dailies as soon as possible and get the ones with crit and surge on them. I believe these are the medic one. also you should get the medic bracers which I believe has crit on it as well. another good tip is to get the medic xenotech gloves from HM Kaon, which has crit and surge on it as well. also dont forget that the tionese gear will also get yuo that accuracy cap which suprisingly makes a big difference.
