  1. Why would you spend the 2k to not spread the disease? Wouldn't spreading the disease give them DNA Samples that are an actual commodity? So as long as we are talking about perspective, there is a perspective where that would be very selfish. Why would you not go to a corner where no one was and blow up if you were really trying to prevent the spreading (since we all know how short of a spread radius it has)...and then get the DNA samples for free credits? I'm seriously curious. It seems almost willfully attempting to be indignant at that point.
  2. Here's the thing: you can dislike it all you want, but people are going to point out the incongruity of not liking something because of the reasons. Wanting to not be affected by anything but on their own terms? You said MMORPG and highlighted the RPG, but let's now highlight the MM (you know, the part that people keep saying it's not enough of?) part. These games are full of other people, and you can be affected by them (positively and negatively) throughout gameplay. Isolating it to where they can not takes it further and further from the MMOG and more into the single player aspect that so many people seem to complain about. So hate the event all you want, but your criticism wont exist in a vacuum. People will comment on it. Especially when you consider a lot of the reasons being used here. (Not even mentioning the fact of how easy it is to avoid, and the results are all positive if you are in fact effected by it unwantedly).
  3. Let's say your character gets infected and cant afford the vaccine or doesnt want to spend the 2k. Ok, what happens? You blow up and get DNA Samples. Now what? 1) You don't want to participate in the event so you can sell them to a vender. Or 2) Seeing how the DNA samples are not bound, and a commodity that some are going to want for what they can purchase, you could sell them on the GTN for even more. Wow, the worst thing was that you just got free credits. The horror.
  4. I'm looking, and if there is something that 50% of the WoW customer base at the time hated, it sure is hidden pretty well. Especially when you say something on the internet it seems to stay out there forever. And I'd take your bet. Didn't seem like 50/50 in WoW, and that was only designed for lvl 50+'s, and had no vaccine, and it sure doesnt seem like 50% here either. If it was 50% you would see TONS of threads hating it. Overflowing the forums. It's contained to one thread, and even in this thread it seems like a low percentage to who likes it.
  5. Can you point me to it with a link? I'd like to read up on their reaction to see if it wasn't tied to the fact that it was lvl locked at 50-60 (end gamers) and excluded a lot of the community to be able to participate other than being infected. And I don't remember a vaccine purchasable for a gold piece or less where you could avoid the event entirely.
  6. I'm looking through the threads and seeing an almost overwhelming liking of the event...which in itself is EXTREMELY odd on these forums. Normally this is the center hub of the universe for all things negative of TOR. You would think if it was a "healthy segment of the population" that you would see a LOT more noise seeing how when people get a paper cut they run to the forums to blame TOR.
  7. Source on the reaction of WoW's scourge invasion reaction?
  8. Hence why the antidote is on EVERY stim vender in the game. And as for other people camping spawn spots: BioWare could do it another way, you know, the way that rakghouls seem to proliferate in the first place: they could release NPC rakghouls to attack people in every zone. Would that be better? End result would be your people who don't want to be effected by the MMOG going on around them would still be effected. Then what?
  9. I'm sorry, but despite people popular mantra, it's not a SRPG where you control every aspect of your interaction with the game. Again, despite people's faulty battle cry, it's an MMOG, and you have to at some time acknowledge the fact that there are people playing the game with, and around you. They don't want to be affected by anything at all only under there own terms? Sorry, that's a bit far fetched when you consider that they can easy purchase the affordable (less than a third of the reward of a daily) antidote on EVERY stim vender (which ever zone has at least one), or do the quest for the antidote and not just get the antidote but get XP/Legacy, and credits....and who knows, maybe some fun along the way.
  10. People complain it's too much a single player game and not enough community. Then you have a RP event that effects the community (whether you want to be a part of it or not is a different discussion), and you still get complaints. Anyway, lighten up, Francis.
  11. Listen, I'm not the greatest EA fan (I liked Westwood, Origins, and Bullfrog, personally), but no, I personally do not think they deserve it, especially when you consider the other companies out there. I'm sorry, some of the banking companies that caused a global economic turn, that cause loss of jobs, and home foreclosures is a little higher on my "sucks ***" list than a company that's greedy within the entertainment industry. The fact they won only tells me how out of whack and overly passionate some gamers are.
  12. Pretty sure the majority of FOX news viewers watch because they parade smoking hot chick after smoking hot chick out in front of the camera.
  13. He's not freaking out and raging enough. He sounds too reasonable.
  14. Used to collect gametime days like candy in the first few years of WoW. If you're any sort of MMOG'er with a past, I'm surprised this surprises you.
  15. "I apologize for the delay, my Lord. Lt. Malavai Quinn. I'm to be your liaison here on Balmorra."
  16. My suggestion would be to make the deep purple legendary items scalable through leveling. Slightly better than a blue, but not as good as a purple, (plus, it wouldn't have all the stats from lack of being able to mod it).
  17. But isn't this just passive-aggressive complaining?
  18. I get the notion, the problem I personally have is that you're paying for something that is going to be replaced probably by the end of the next progression planet (if you do the H2's, H4's, the class quest reward, or the bonus series reward you will be rewarded with most likely a moddable piece of gear you can keep for much longer - but may not like the appearance). The idea about the Legacy system, to some degree, was to allow us to give benefits, and customization to our alts. Well, it's sort of a shell if a lot of the look we like just goes in the "grey to be sold as vender trash" pile within a planet of content. The benefit seems very small: Ok you leveled to 50, now your next toon gets a lightsaber to use from levels 14-18. Seems, counter intuitive to one of the goals, IMO.
  19. Oddly enough I don't have as much issue with high credit items as I do with high commendation items for legacy stuff despite them taking relatively the same time to accrue. Go figure. My real issue is the pricing for extremely temporary Legacy items (non moddable ones that your character will grow out of very rapidly).
  20. What short memories people have these days where everything is binary "the worst" (way cooler) or "the best".
  21. Um, sorta. BioWare was actually deep into the pockets of an investment firm, Elevation Partners, at the time of EA purchase. Elevation Partners happened to be co-founded by a guy named John Riccitiello. When Riccitiello came back to EA (he was COO earlier and left to found EP), one of the first things he did was negotiate the purchase of BioWare/Pandemic. They (BioWare) were technically privately owned, but Elevations Partners invested WAY too much money (to the tune of $300M back in around 2005) not to have significant say in matters.
  22. Yeah, but once you get to 50, you can't fall out of your spaceship without making credits. You get ~200k a day with dailies alone.
  23. You get 25 from Belsavis, and Ilum. Then you get the ones from Corellia. Which takes you to in the neighborhood of 30 a day. It's week, not a month. Having said that, i still believe the effort to what amounts to equipment your alts will outgrow extremely rapidly isn't in line with the reward.
